So you're saying you don't use hard brake? I can't even make an attempt to escape w/o hard break. Making those wiiiiiide turns sets me up too quick.

Just use the normal light breaks.
The heavy breaks slows you down way too fast which is oddly enough make you much easier to aim at.
No decent pilot ever use the heavy break in dogfights.
And totally love it when their opponent does use it. -
BF3 Rooftop Ultra/High Settings on Gateway p7805u Laptop - YouTube Here's a vid of Battlefield 3 running on my sig Laptop. Video is at 15-18 fps, get twice as much without Bandicam recording at full resolution (1360x768).
I use Bandicam to also set a fps limit at 33 fps maximum, otherwise my CPU will overheat. This is the only game in which I am forced to put a fps limit (at these settings).
Still after some testing, I found that a constant 33 fps is the sweet spot in smoothness while being completely stable. Old school 9800m gts still running like a pro ;D -
I can't say I'm enjoying the type of FPS at ultra during online play. It all depends on how the game handles during online multiplayer match in one of the heavier maps (Karkland). At these settings running at 1080p resolution the game hits under 25 FPS and it's not fluent.
-
Under 30 FPS on online play is unplayable for me. No way, way to much going on, and I can't afford choppiness. Of course my is 60+ FPS
-
Agreed. I use to believe 60+FPS wasn't really needed and was just bragging rights, but lately I find even 30FPS is noticeable at times. Even the slightest drop in FPS can have an affect on game play. Unfortunately for me, I like the details, so bringing down the graphics is not an option. As much as I love my laptop, its either upgrade GPU or buy a new laptop.
-
Well to play BF3 at 60+ FPS with high/ultra detail you should consider a 7970m playing at 720p. My desktop isn't all that powerful, but it's more powerful than pretty much all laptops out there with the exception of the 7970m and at 1920x1200 I have to play with med/high and still get dips to 40 fps.
-
Yes, I agree completely except for graphics performance in multiplayer. During Online gameplay, especially in an FPS which needs precise mouse control, I always tone down the settings to low/medium to maximize fps to the 45-50 area. During competitive gameplay the extra lights and effects just get in the way anyway, and I am much more efficient with them being turned off.
-
So I haven't played BF3, but it's one of the first popular shooters I'm really interested in. Can anyone tell me if the online play is anything like what I'm imagining out of an online FPS? You know... 12 year old kids, elitests, nerdrage, etc etc etc?
-
Yes, yes, and yes... yet I have over 200 hours in the damn game, lol.
-
I'll put it this way. Last night I was attempting to play a short game and through the match all you hear is people complaining over chat about others. Noob this Noob that. It's either someone gets called a noob for a specific weapon/vehicle or called a cheater/hacker. There's also the absolute lack of teamwork within the design of the game, although I'm sure some people can organize some kind of clan to achieve it to a degree.
-
Having K/D ratios kills teamwork. Most are probably doing it for the stats, unlocks, perks, etc.

I can also add that it is a hackers heaven too.
Tons of people with hacks and cheats on there regardless of any anti cheat measures that are supposedly in place.
Played on a server last night were a guy was 26-0 in a jet. The second you spawned and entered a vehicle you were blown to pieces. Literally, the second you entered your vehicle was destroyed. Same server we also had the other team running on foot right into our base and spawn killing us. To my knowledge your not supposed to be able to go to the other teams base unless you happen to be flying over in a jet or helicopter.
These are not exaggerations and are facts. The "26-0" player kept saying he had "skilz" and laughing at our team. -

Hi, I've just started playing recently and the frame rate is okay-ish but is there any user.cfg option that people can recommend that will increase performance.
My specs are 2630qm,6970(800,1000) and 8gb 1333 DDR3 Ram. -
HOLY CRAP!!!
Master cheating going on there!!!!! -
Coming from an RPG fanatic, ..BF3 Multiplayer is great, great pings from many servers too. This one here is my favorite, 48 player TDM. Earning your ranks, perks..
1080p, ultra texture, medium all, low post AA, 4X AF. Average of mid 40s' to mid 50s FPS. -
I'm new to FPS on the PC and since I got a free redeem code for BF3 I decided to try it out for the first time. Any tips for a newbie? Let's say i'm struggling to hold certain buttons properly (such as crouching) and already got killed in campaign mode on the second level... in easy mode. *cries*

put this line in user.cfg:
WorldRender.DxDeferredCsPathEnable 0 -
I found that easy mode in single is easy enough to just run from start to end as long it isn't prevented by scripted events.
You can change hold commands into toggle commands in the options. -
Add me on Origin: "DEagleson", then i can take you through the coop part of the game.
Practice makes perfect and you unlock weapons usable in the multiplayer part. -
Thanks DEagleson, i'm a bit flattered that you're willing to help quite possibly one of the worst BF3 players ever! I should be on in the evening as I got work shift today
but I definitely add you on Origin when I get on, my Origin ID is "PatchySan". I remember a certain viking scoffed at me for even thinking about using a controller for a FPS so i'm trying to get used to the whole keyboard and mouse thing.
-
I wonder who that could have been.
-
Just use what you are used to. Sure, you might get 1-60 in a match but it won't matter much when you play the objective. Then everyone would love you. You might get yourself a month of semi online fame.

Better be HC...
*Grumbles* -
Thanks Deagleson for helping me out on the co-op! My mic decided to crap out from time to time so i'm really sorry about that, looks like I got to buy a new one. Plus I'm still very embarrassed about my poor ability to control the helicopter, it seems I can only hover up and crash down! D: Oh and thanks for sharing that random video haha.
Plus is it just me or do people get a bit queasy after playing BF3 for a while? Maybe I should knock down the motion blurness a little... -
I've been slowly getting better with tanks lately. The biggest problems I have are tunnel vision and getting rammed by jihad jeeps
-
Flying helicopters take a bit of practice but at least you did not crash on multiplayer with a bunch of friendlies riding along.
I recommend you to maybe up the field of view and turn of motion blur and similar stuff.
My settings are everything on medium, low on shadows and 8x AF, no AA.
Gives me rock solid 60fps. -
Well, the problem with jacking up your FOV is you might get motion sickness for awhile till you get used to it.
When changing the FOV, you still need to reload the game to see the difference.
----------------------------------------------------
As for tanks ...No idea
However, you can significantly increase your FOV, when you enable multiple monitors and use thermal. -

how about some hacking in Battlefield 3? "diaries of a hacker", maybe?
-
Very good read, thanks +1.
Good to hear from a somewhat "honest" player that took the chance to figure it out then share the info. It's pathetic really. Paying money to cheat in an online game, for why? What's the purpose or point? I still don't get it. People who do this sort of thing must fail at life too.
After playing a while you can usually have some instinctual feeling that a player is a hacker even if they try to act inconspicuous. Pistol one shot kills from 200m away, a few quick kills from someone after you just knifed them, hiding from them when you know they are the only enemy in the vicinity and nobody could spot you yet they know exactly where you're at, etc etc. -
It's painfully obvious when I'm killed by at least some types of hackers, because I don't die in the traditional fashion. Even when I'm headshotted, there's a different noise/animation than when I just suddenly drop dead for no reason at all. And then I'll see someone killed me with a pistol/smg/shotgun in one shot from across the map.
-
I guess I'm really lucky cause I rarely face or play with a pretty obvious cheater.
Then again rather play against a closet one then an obvious one.
With the game horrible net interpolation, I can't even tell cause even legit people has really twitchy aim jumping around in the killcam. -
While I haven't ran into many hackers I've found a couple who are definitely aim botting, in tanks no less.
Kinda weird watching a tanks turret just snap round and fire at people. -
Thankfully, I don't run into many hackers. There was one hacker on a TDM game a while back, but even with the hacks he was still pretty terrible.
I read the hacker post; I was intrigued about the freecam option. I'm personally very confused as to why DICE can't just give us a client-side recording option, like TF2's demo system. It would help out those of us who want to make movies, or examine the playstyles of others to improve. -

Anyone facing crazy lags in this game lately? For me, the FPS drops from 50 to 15 for a few seconds and goes back up again while playing online. This repeats every 1 min or so. Any fix for this issue guys ?
-
My matches were actually freezing up for 3-4 sec at a time, approx. every 10 min. I thought it was Carbonite at first, but it kept happening even after I paused the backups. In fact, many member of my clan saw server glitches earlier in the night..maybe the dev team were doing things on the backend. Dunno.
You guys know it's 2x XP weekend, right? -
battle logg looks like it have been naded in firefox had to install chrome
some one else have this prob its realy irritating the multiplayer page all the servers have been chifted side ways so it looks like a stairway and all server arent shown thay are there but the box is empty -
I use firefox. I don't see your issue with battlelog server tab.
-
it started last night and i have to shange to chrome insted
Orion had the same a couple of months ago and he had to shange as well -
Are you using bblog? If so, that's why you're having an issue with Firefox. Bblog nixed Firefox support due to rendering issues...read that in their change log. For those that aren't aware, Bblog is a plugin for Battlelog.
-
you know how to find an delet it if i have it
-
Preferences --> Extensions
-
cant find any thing like it in firefox extensions or as a plug in
i just found a s load of esn stuff like 2 x esn launch mozilla
and 2 x esn sonar all up to date -
Those are for Battlelog. Don't remove them unless you don't want to play BF3 anymore. If you can't find bblog, then something else is going on with your Firefox install.
-
Do you guys think a 650m would be able to run BF3 at medium - high settings in 720p? I was thinking of getting an HP dv6qte or the MSI GE60 but wanted to know if performance was an issue with the 650m.
-
High settings in 720p should play fluently with a 650m.
-
As in 30+ or 60+? BFBC2 really spoiled me with 60+, so yeah.
