Heh, there's my problem then. I don't think I've unlocked the AT4 yet  (I think it's my next engineer unlock though. Hadn't played this game much until just recently)

    Yeah! :D

I just want DICE to :

    - Let me fly the jet 24/7
    - Let me use an M4 with EOTech + Silencer
    - Let me run the game with textures and objects maxed with lighshafts, low shadows, no MBlur or other Post processing and maxed lightings but no shading effects ( SSAO, things like that ) @ 1080p at 20-30 FPS :3

I hope that they keep the classes similar to BF2 (or even 2412). BC2 assaults had an MG by default, I don't like MGs :( .

No they didn't. Assault class in BC2 has assault rifles, which were fully automatic and had no selectable firing modes, but they weren't MG's like 249's or PKM, etc.

MG's were medic class only. The Assault had AR like AEK,M16,M4, etc.,

It was Medics in BFBC2 that had LMG's, not Assault. Assault used assault rifles (go figure :p).

As for class structure, I liked BF2's setup and I wish BF3's would be closer to that. More classes is just fine; I don't see the necessity to simplify (i.e. dumb down) everything. I mean, TF2 has nine classes and people get by just fine with that. Although some things can deal with merging (like Engineer and Anti-Tank is a good merge I think), most classes just don't need it. Like splitting Special Forces into Assault and Sniper/Recon, I was not a fan. Combining Medic and Support was ok, since those are the two classes I play most anyway, but I'd still rather see them as individual classes.

    My ideal class setup:

    • Assault: uses an assault rifle with various attachments (40mm tube, smoke, shotgun, maybe more utility rounds like signal flares?). Pretty straightforward; exists to fight and not much else.
    • Medic: uses same assault rifles as Assault, but without attachments (perhaps without optics either, I don't know), and a frag grenade instead. Also has the usual defibrillator and medkit. As for medkit mechanics, I like BF2's system; stand near a teammate with your kit out to heal them over time (preferably with animations this time :p), or drop it on the ground for an instant pick-up.
    • Support: uses a light machine gun capable of bipod mounting and massive suppressive fire, and can resupply ammunition to team.
    • Engineer: combining the original Engineer and Anti-Tank kits, the Engineer is responsible for both maintaining friendly vehicles and destroying hostile ones, much like the BC2 Engineer. Uses SMG's and carbine's as a primary, with an anti-vehicle weapon (mines, launchers). No magical tracer dart stuff, though. Also has a wrench/repair tool to fix friendly vehicles and emplacements.
    • Sniper: can choose from a variety of bolt-action and semi-automatic sniper rifles, can also have claymore mines.
    • Special Forces: uses an SMG or carbine, and C4. Maybe a flashbang as well, that would be cool.

And of course all classes have the usual knife and choice of sidearm. There would also be a few class-universal weapons like shotguns available to replace class-specific primaries. Overall, 6 classes. Not too much to handle, I think. Mostly derived from the BF2 system :p

O'rly? Well still bad, I want my medic with an AR :p .

EDIT: 2142 almost had it, I think, the Recon class should've split into two though.

I like where you're going. A few of my thoughts:

    - Medic kit should be limited to medic abilities/tools. Switch the frags to smoke grenades, and remove optics from the weapons. The medic class should be just that, so little to no assault capabilities. Also, they should swap dropping health bags for patches, which would only heal you a certain amount. A medic should have to stand next to you with the health bag for a few seconds to fully heal you.
    - Support kit should be able to drop max 1 or 2 ammo bags before having to resupply at a crate.
    - Engineer class should be split into 3: anti-armor, anti-air, and mine layer guy. All classes can repair, they just have different capabilities depending on the situation. Obviously the amount of rockets/mines carried would have to be low, requiring a close by support class or crate.
    - Sniper should have trip flares added, and claymores should have to be manually triggered.
    - Special forces should definitely have flashbangs and grappling hooks.

If any of you have played Project Reality, that's pretty much where i'm going. Can't type more as I am at work, but that's my 2 cents! :D

Not bad ideas, but I'd let the Medic keep a frag grenade, perhaps with the option to use a smoke canister instead. They're supposed to be about as efficient as Assault in direct rifle combat, but without the Assault's versatility, i.e. the underbarrel attachments (and perhaps optics).

I don't like limiting the Support's ammo supplying ability. Perhaps an increased regeneration time or an overheat (preventing you from deploying ammo more than so many times per minute) would be acceptable. I think it would be quite annoying playing as an Assault and asking a nearby Support gunner for ammo, only for them to tell you they're out.

As for the Engineer, why bother splitting into separate classes? Since they'd all be the same except for their primary weapon, you might as well just have the one class and switch loadouts depending on your goal.

Trip flares are an awesome idea. Maybe they could be incorporated into the spotting system, i.e. when an enemy trips a flare, an indicator pops up on your team's minimap in addition to the visible flare. (Did you get that idea from the BC2 campaign? :p)

Grappling hooks might be useful...they were kinda cool in BF2SF. And the ziplines, man those were fun :D

You're right about the engineer class, that's pretty much what I meant; it would be redundant to have 3 separate classes, what was I thinking! Definitely no need to split them up, but a foot mobile AA is absolutely necessary; the AA emplacements were good, but once they show up on that J10's radar, you're pretty much toast! It would be nice to be able to carry around a portable AA gun which also would not highlight you on the jets radar.

The trip flare is an idea taken from Project Reality and one which could actually be used quite well on their nighttime maps. Imagine you're playing one of those open terrain mountain maps and you seem tripflares going off in the distance. With the right lighting, that would be an awesome awesome effect, and actually quite helpful! It would also be nice if it somehow interfered with night-vision, if there is that option.

I think limiting supply bags would 1) limit the rocket/support squad spamming, and 2) add a new dynamic to your supply class, i.e. if YOU run out of ammo, your squad pays the price, until you find a crate to resupply and keep your AA/AT teams supplied. Just another idea stolen from Project Reality though. :)

And as for the BFBC2 campaign, I've still never finished it! :D

I don't know if I'd want portable AA; I'm guessing the maps will be like BC2's in that they're littered with AA emplacements and stationary machine guns, and guided missile launchers. And helicopters are already basically useless in BC2; I made a post about that a page or two back.
It's a good idea in theory, but I honestly think it would be more annoying than practical. Maybe they could limit the amount of rocket/explosive resupplies, like just one or two per crate, independent of normal bullet ammo.
Definitely worth playing through. Anyway, not to spoil any details, but there's one sequence where you and the squad have to sneak through the woods, and the enemy has several trip-flare traps hidden. If you trip one, it sets off the flare and a group of enemies attacks.

Activision just got its kicked! Can't wait for E3 now, it's gonna rock!

Although I'm kinda worried about the new game modes Team Deathmatch and Rush. I sort feel as if BF3 should only have had Conquest to remain true to past games and encourage the kind of teamwork Conquest encourages.

TDM has become pretty popular now a days, i dont think they could ignore that.
I am starting to get a bad feeling, the game seems to be too perfect, and whenever something feels too perfect it ends up being quite the opposite, there needs to be atleast one flaw.

Well, if anything it should help keep the herds of COD players away from teamplay required game modes like Conquest and Rush but I've never really been fond of TDM, it's so pointless, you just camp and get kills, there is no unifying objective.

And I doubt it will be perfect on release, it will have a few bugs but remember that DICE has been working on this game a very long time so I wouldn't surprised if it turned out be near perfect.

I can't say I'm thrilled to see so much clutter on the screen. Aside from the 3d map, health bar, ammo count, and mini map they decided to display a series of on-screen messages confirming you killed an enemy and what you used to do achieve, it right in the middle of the screen. Also, I'm not sure it is necessary to have the squad list visible at all times rather than using the caps lock key to display in the classic Battlefield squad management window. I can manage the rest the screen-clutter, cause I'm sure there will be a hardcore mode to hide it, but this squad display thing is looking like a console aspect. Overall the interface resembles the same style as Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and I'm not sure that's a good thing.

    By-the-way hers a 3rd video:

I also, I agree with you about the kill message on the bottom center on the screen, the message screen on the top left-hand corner is enough...

    I believe it's 21:30 GMT @ the IGN stream.

Also, it seems that it's the FB that MOH used with better textures, more destructability. HUD is almost ( 90% ) the same, the M9 movement too.

Don't worry ;) The dev cycle of MoH was around 8-10 months. Compare it to 5+ years in BF3. :p

They are doing a BF2 sequel, as fans and DICE wants. Not as DC ;). Also, the models of the US soldiers are very similar in MoH.

Agree with that, definitely looks like MOH and BC2 smashed together, but I'll keep my faith until the end of E3. The HUD was definitely cluttered with useles info and whatnot, but hopefully there's a hardcore mode....

A few comments from the videos that were released yesterday:

    1) Looks like they fixed the dirt being kicked up when you run animation. Praise the Lord!
    2) Tracers definitely made it look like a Star Wars laser battle.
    3) That RPG being shot down the tunnel was just off the hook. The lighting effects are unreal!
    4) AI looked like your standard BC2/MOH/COD AI, i.e running straight into your bullets.
    5) How many hits did he take in that Tank and not blow up?! I counted approx. 6 hits, but apparently his armor auto-repaired back to full health?
    6) Being able to kill someone by blowing up a building and having it fall on them will lead to sleepless nights, guaranteed.
    7) The gameplay was butter smooth, anyone know what hardware they were playing on?

I look forward to more MP footage and JETS JETS JETS!

If EA and DICE mess up BF3 the fanbase would probably kill them.
What im hoping for is better hitbox, like the one featured in the Vietnam expansion.

    1) What dirt? Like when you walk there is dust flying over?

    2) Pew pew! :D

    3) Deferred lighting FTW! They said they can put UNLIMITED light sources! Well... Here's your result! :D

    4) Perhaps it was on easy?

    5) Live demos usually have god mode. Look at KZ3 in '10. He took 2 RPG's and didn't die ;)

    6) I was actually stunned by that! Now if a piece of a building falls on you = DEATH :D

    7) All we know is that he was playing, maxed, 1080p and 4x MSAA.

Same here, CAN'T WAIT FOR JETS! :D

I really wish some one mods BF3 to have 32 jets per team... Then it would be like Star Wars... EPIC!

Agreed about the fanbase. I definitely like what I've seen so far, but the truth of whether or not they have stayed true to the BF series will come from the gameplay.

I agree, the hitboxes need to be fixed, but I think recoil is a big part of the BF series. I don't want to be shooting a line of bullets like the M16 in BC2:Vietnam. I'd rather have accuracy improved by things like crouching and waiting a second or two before firing. BF2 wasn't necessarily a 'fast-paced' shooter like we're seeing in these videos. It was about open ground, large battlefields, shooting targets that were at a distance, and the gameplay was definitely unique. There would be the instances of close combat, but that could also be easily avoided.

I'd be lying if I didn't say i'm still skeptical. They'd really better not mess this up! :D

    1) If you can remember from the first 12 minute SP gameplay video, if you watch the characters feet, you'll notice dirt flying around their feet even when they are walking slowly. It's weird to explain, just go watch it lol!

4/5) yea, I guess it was on God mode. That makes sense, can't have your demo guy get pwned in front of all those people.

    7) Really hoping some news related to hardware is released at E3. If any of you are there, keep your eyes peeled!

And as for jets, just another reason we need mod support. Anyone remember that Wake Island mod that only had jets and several carriers? Had a sweet dogfighting tourney on that one a long long time ago, tons of fun!

Well, the multiplayer hands-on reviews are starting to flow in! Lot's of praise for the game in the two I've read thus far. BF3 is gonna be epic, no doubt.

    10/25/11 SAVE THE DATE! :D

IGN and Gamespot, I know they aren't the best sources but still. Anyways, I can't wait for the full-length multiplayer preview video soon...
