The campaign is not worth the obstacles you are trying to inundate. It's linear and pretty transparent. The length would be average and about the same as any other shooter. You would probably have more fun with Bad Company 1/2.

How about letting one of your friend or someone here(USA) in NBR buy it for you?
All you need is a code which will activate the premium. -
pretty much. i ordered from ea's store website and all went smooth, origin started downloading the maps right away.
-
No problem. This stuff happens quite often. With steam games you can verify the game with their repair tool. I wish Origin had the same.
-
They do have it. Right click on the game in Origin and click on "Repair Install".
-
Oh wow I didn't even notice that before... Fail on my part.
-

^ except when i do that, Origin starts downloading the whole 16GB game. is my install of BF3 that corrupted? i don't think so, i can play the campaign, the co-op, and the multiplayer perfectly fine. -
Does actually download the game? When I do that it goes from 0% to 100% but I'm pretty sure it just compares some checksums to make sure all the files are correct.
-
Hey Prasad, I have an extra untouched cd key of bf3. Id be willing to sell it to you for 30 bucks if you want
-
Sounds like a plan, really!
Premium key? -
Welp. Accidentally reset my stats. At least now I have something like 1360 SPM, although its only got like 5 hours recorded so far. K/D ratio went out the window due to me trying to get rocket kills though.
-
BF3 on PC: It's no BF2 (only other BF game I've played and LOVED it), but with some tweaking it can come close.
Currently, my three biggest issues are:
- No ability to talk to your chopper pilot/gunner, tank driver/gunner, or even your SQUAD (so much for being a team game, huh?). I'd rather have the ability to talk to a stranger than "Join A Party" out-of-game and have to add people I'll barely talk to on Battlelog. Absolutely moronic, in my book.
- Jet/chopper point-and-shoot rocket, scout/transport helicopter minigun, and mobile anti-air cannon damage against infantry is beyond poor.
- "Score per minute (SPM)" and "Skill." More pointless than the campaign mode. Take it out of the game. Now.
Being a scientist I prefer little patches over big ones. Tweak a few aspects here and there and see how the community responds. Overwhelm the masses and expect a sh*tstorm of complaining (just look at the forums on Battlelog...).
Also debating getting Premium now. It sure as hell isn't worth $50, but it comes with Dead Space 1 for free. Hm... -
If you reset the stats, you don't lose any unlocks, do you?
-
Yep.
Reset stats only reset W/L,Accuracy,Score on min and K/D. -
Yeah I don't get why DICE is refusing to add voip like in BF2 when EVERYBODY wants it, and we'll always have the option to turn it off or mute somebody anyways. some people are using skype just to be able to communicate in game.
-
Never really say the point of stat reset... it's usually people who care a lot about the stats who do it, but what if you get worse stats?
I mean, unless you played horribly in your early stages, no real reason :/ -
Absolutely. Worse excuses for not including VOIP I have ever heard. You either have to know the people you're playing with or forget it. So stupid.
-
Isn't using Skype essentially the same as using Battlelog? I've never used Battlelog's chat system (the "platoon" I'm in use this thing called TeamSpeak 3), but what the heck is up with all of this 3rd party bull? From my point of view, adding in-game chat is easier because DICE is in full control (they, nor the players, have to put up with some background program while playing).
I'm going to regret asking, but what excuses were made, exactly? -
If anyone is still needs to buy Premium, greenmangaming.com is having a 25% off sale. I got it yesterday for $37.50!
-
Do I mark this for spam...? I looked on there and found nothing regarding a discount on Premium. I'm curious as to why this "greenmangaming.com" would have Premium 25% off when Origin is giving away either Dead Space 1, Medal of Honor, or the Vehicle Upgrade Bundle for free. They still want their $50, but they'll give you some cheap-a** game to make it look good.
-
Actually, you just missed it. It was their summer sale which was 25% off anything they sold. Which happen to sell BF3 Prem.
Was really lucky they sell it via gmg so I finally got to use up my referral points on it.
So I got it for $10. -
Ya, its pretty useless. I wasn't thinking and accidentally clicked it and then about 30 seconds after that I went "wait, what the hell did I just do?"
Besides SPM everything is going to end up back where it was. SPM was not as high as it is now due to me trying to get kills with obscure weapons vs what I normally do now, which is HC TDM. -
That you have Battlelog VOIP and "plenty of third party applications". It's far from the same. That means that you have to KNOW the people that you're playing BF3 with. Even if you know one person in your squad, what about the the other two? What about other users in the same vehicle?
-
lol? Yes, I'm a spam bot with almost 200 posts and a 4 year old account.
I ordered it yesterday and the coupon code was right on the home page. They didn't have an end date for the promotion which is why I posted it, but apparently they decided to end it last night.
Snooze you lose! -
Actually, there isn't an end date but a timed counter for the coupon to expire. The counter was a 48+6 hour countdown.
-
i didn't know about the battlelog voip, so you can only talk to people who are on your friend's list? can communicate in game or only when on battlelog?
-
You can communicate in game but you have to manually add them to your party.
-
Not happy with Battlefield 3? Blame yourself and everyone else who bought into it. I know I do. If people keeping accepting what these developers and corporations throw at them then expectations will keep going down and the next generation wont even know the difference or what use to be considered "good". Here you have a great PC only game like Red Orchestra 2: Heroes Of Stalingrad at a great price and with dedicated developers that care about their fan-base, but yet the numbers of players in comparison to Battlefield 3 tell a different story. Yes, it is a different type of first-person shooter, with a different theme, but it includes all the missing features of BF3 (including VOIP and commander) and packs much more. A true FPS game bringing more depth and meaning to each individual battle. I still play BF3 now and then when a friend calls or when I feel hyper, but I'm almost always disappointed and reminded of what this game could have been.
-
Let me apologize for being a d0uche nozzle, lol. I was tired as hell yesterday and got little to no sleep. It was just hard to believe that you couldn't use any discounts to buy Premium on Origin, but some other website allows you to get the game for $20+ cheaper. More bullsh*t from EA, what else is new...
Ah well. At least I can get either Dead Space 1 or Medal of Honor for free with Premium (definitely leaning toward Dead Space, though).
My PC gaming logic (my experience):
Do I have friends? Yes.
Do I have friends who play computer games? Yes.
Do I have friends who play BF3? Yes.
Do I have friends who play BF3 on their computer? Nope.
EA and DICE, you owe me a solid. I bought your game. Now LISTEN! -
1. Start online petition for dice to include voip in BF3
2. Start spreading the link to every internet forum that you know
3. Become an internet god if successful
4. Enjoy voip in BF3
5. Profit??? -
Right, because we all remember how effective internet petitions are at getting game developers and publishers to change things. Remember how well that worked with CoD:MW2?
-
For a game as big as BF3 there has to be a butt ton of online petitions already, especially for VOIP considering it's probably the most wanted feature in the game.
Plus, I wouldn't know what to do
-
If TF2 can have a successful VOIP system ...well, except for the occasional annoying idiot who plays music full blast with his mic on, why can't BF3? I think it would be a great feature, but they would have to add some-kind of vote kick option so we could boot the trolls.
I haven't played the game much lately, though. I lose skill so fast when I take breaks -_- (#1 Medic!
).
While they're at it, remove the noob/no-skill flashlights that can blind people in broad daylight and the unlimited grenades from the ammo boxes that force entire teams to fight in a single hallway for 1 hour (add a 1 minute CD to grenades - there's your fix, so you only use them when needed and not spam them just because you can)
-
Just add a mute button so you can mute individuals.
And you need to be able to cook grenades. I hate when I throw a grenade and it sits there for like 20 seconds, everyone scatters, then it explodes. -
I'm not sure what "cook grenades" means but I wish you could pull the pin and hold the grenade for a couple seconds so that when you throw it, it explodes when you want it to. Plus how fun would it be to watch noobs hold their grenades too long and blow themselves up?
-
DirtyTrickster Notebook Evangelist
That, my friend, is cooking grenades. -
Then again, the game balance pretty much revolves around metro.
Cooking nades is like the next best thing to cry about
I loathe nades so much cause most of the time, it bounces off a wall and under my feet. ^^ -
"This other game is good and you guys ignored it, so you deserve a subpar user experience."
Not following the logic. -
Well cooking the 'nades should come with some random element. Might take 4,5,or 6 seconds to explode so you would get times when people blow themselves up.
-
In addition to cooking grenades (which I agree would be a cool factor in the game, but it probably won't be added) there should be a random chance of you setting up claymores backwards. As soon as you deploy it, you're wishing you hadn't.
-
For people that like this game, can you at least tell me if you've ever played the older BFs like 2/2142/1942? I was curious as to whether older BF players play this game also.
-
Random number generators are never fun. Ever. Nobody understands this better than WoW players. Also, the Claymore mine has FRONT - TOWARD ENEMY printed on it in huge letters, so you'd have to be a real moron to set it up wrong.
-
To be perfectly honest, BF2 was the reason I got BF3. Around 2007/2008, I had a Target gift card for around $20 and randomly saw Battlefield 2: Complete Collection on the shelf (I think it was $25 aka a steal). Being the pinhead I am, I bought it so I could just use the gift card then-and-there. Little did I know it was the greatest purchase ever! Took me a while to realize it wouldn't play on my crap laptop (lol), but I put 150+ hours into that game despite not being able to play it consistently. Bullet drop forever changed how I looked at video games and I love to snipe because of it.
Haven't touched anything before or after BF2. I kept hearing about the "Bad Company" games, but I'm pretty sure that was just an attempt to bring the Battlefield franchise to the consoles.
Perhaps I should have put "WARNING: EXTREME USE OF SARCASM FOLLOWS" before my comment. And WoW players? Who cares about WoW players. -
I played BF2 since like 2007, played bad company 1 and 2, and I can say BF3 is better than all of them. It is definitely more challenging especially sniping with the increased realistic bullet drop. assault rifles are now more effective long range and recoil is realistic but manageable (the only weapon I used in BF2 was recon with the Barret sniper rifle because the assault rifles were barely useful with medium to long range).
-
Perhaps you shouldn't be such a butt.
-
Funny, though, how a real sniper rifle bullet will rip your arm off but in BF3 you need 2+ shots to kill someone (with the deadliest sniper rifle).
-
I just can't bring myself to enjoy BF3, the lighting, atmosphere and everything just seem wrong. Maybe it's because the lack of players on the PS3 version makes the game less enjoyable for me. However whenever I played BF3 there was a lack of cooperation/teamwork, which made me feel like I was playing free for all or something. When I played BF2/2142 I would work with the other players, and not just let them get killed like many allow to happen in BF3.
Bringing PC franchises to console always seems to go wrong, I wish they could just leave PC exclusives to PC. This is why I frequently preach about Crysis 2/3 being garbage being they lost some of the features of the original. BF3 just doesn't have the fun factor of BF2 IMO, BF3 is the type of game I have to force myself to actually play. The Co-Op mode was interesting but too often would I be paired with a party with laggy internet, or they would not play "Co-Op" correctly. -
m98B usually only takes one shot to kill someone (head or chest) even on normal mode.
-
It does 95 max damage dropping off to 50, so only a headshot or a close-up chest shot will kill.

In addition, throwing grenade back would be a cool factor as well (COD has the rights ????). I hate it when I am in a corner where the enemy throws a grenade at me. I either wait to see myself die or get shot at. Specially in operation metro, I have a hard time knowing whose grenade is on the floor. When I run backward, its one of the friendly one and when I sit there, boooom..
