An unranked one. The one we played on with Falco the other night us usually empty. It's the only one in my favorites.
I just need practice with my aim. It's very frustrating having someone lined up and not hitting them.

Any suggestions? -
I haven't played BF3 in like 3 weeks now...been doing a lot of Blacklight:Retribution, though, as well as BFBC2. I think I'm just burned out with BF3.
-
^ are you enjoying Bad Company 2 more than BF3?
-
I dont know how much different is is PC-wise but Bad Company 2 had better gameplay than Battlefield 3 on the console imo.

Well I went 0-16 in a "learn to fly" server tonight. The other pilots were something like 35-6. Absolutely dreadful. least amount of fun I've had in awhile.
-
Here's another tip for you.
Avoid all learning to fly servers.
It's only a front for decent admin pilots to grab free kills and kick any players that can be considered a threat.
While it is good to learn by playing against better pilots than you but it is rather pointless if they get you every time you try. -

I have been at hours with this 5 AT kill requirement for Scar H assignment yet no luck. RPG seems impossible and no one bothers to SOFLAM aircrafts. Anyone want to help me out? I will return favor with any of your assignments. PC BF3 player by the way.
-
Absolutely agreed! It's like one of those servers that claim to be noob friendly but are actually noob farming servers!
-
what do you guys use to chat when you have your sessions together. i just fixed my tritton axpros mic, it had a 3.5mm jack but since my sager cant output 5.1 and do a mic at the same time i took my rosetta stone microphone, unsoldered all the wires on the usb plug, and soldered the cable from the ax pros mic into it, and now it just looks like it came from the factory that way and works it great, and im excited to actually have a good quality mic instead of the built in one on my laptop.
-
My BeyerDynamic MMX300 hooked up to a external Creative USB soundcard.
The Realtek card inside my P170HMx is too weak to drive the mic without resorting to mic boosting.
This and Mumble = Good times.

yeah the little rosetta stone usb dongle is really strong and the sound is nice and crisp(as it should be for voice recognition), and my headset has an inline amplifier so i can actually change the volume of each channel quickly and easily, and it has sick leds built in.

I probably went 0-8 actually trying. The other 8 deaths came from rage ramming and trying to land on their carrier to steal a jet.

Can someone tell me why at least half of the people I see playing support use the pkp pecheneg? What is so great about that gun?
I unlocked the LSAT finally last night and really like it so far. Might be my new favorite support weapon. -
theres an assignment right now, that involves getting 100 kills with it, to unlock a camo for it. also before some of the more recent patches it was the most powerful automatic weapon, and it has good long range accuracy with predictable recoil.
-
Do you guys use this? It can tell you a lot about a weapon and why others might be using it, among other things...

I used it because the name sounds awesome.
Saying "pecheneg" over voice chat is pretty fun.
edit: hmm censored my word.. -
How do you guys use voice chat? I never knew that was a feature in BF3 !!
-
use the VOIP that comes with the Battlelog plugin.
-
Uhh.... *scratches head uncontrollably*. You ARE talking about BF3 PC, right? I had heard there's no voice chat in the PC version?
-

There is the private party on battle log. You have to be friends with them, then invite to the private party then go to a server and play. -
I'm enjoying the change of pace more, I think. There's less run/gun/bunny-hopping...and it's slower-paced. The bunny-hopping in BF3 really gets on my nerves. You don't see it as much in BC2. In BF3, you see guys jumping around so much that they spend more time in the air than on the ground...that's hardly realistic. There should be a penalty for jumping (can't fire until you're grounded for a second, or lessen the chance of a hit to maybe 2% when a person is jumping while firing). Got tired of guys jumping around corners and no-scope/quick-scope one-shotting me in the head with a sniper rifle. In this regard, the game seems similar to CoD.
I don't know which game has more hackers, BF3 or BC2. I still see them in BC2 (like being one-shotted from across the map with an M60), but I just leave the server when it happens.
When I go back to playing BF3, it will more than likely be HC only, for me. HC usually plays much slower and tends to weed out the kiddies and run/gun jumpers. Battlefield ninjas too. Sadly, most of my clan won't do HC.
BL:R is a different beast. Most times I get owned, but I love the see-through visor and some of the weapons, as well as the fact that you can buy weapons with earned money (and that most weapons aren't permanent when bought). The gameplay is timed, so you don't have 20-30min of grindfest. The hardsuit is pretty sick, too. -
Ohh... Got it! Thanks!
-
anyone want to get a big game going soon?
-
DirtyTrickster Notebook Evangelist
I'll play. -
That would be cool. I'd rather not have to enable/disable WorldRender.DxDeferred every time I play. I'll do it, but I'd rather not have to, obviously. But I'm assuming Metro and Tehran Highway are the only maps having this on would be recommended? To my knowledge, every other map just uses the sun as the main light source.
Also, you guys mentioned recording. I've tried messing with MSI Afterburner (screenshots, recording software, and an on-screen display all in one program is amazing), but it results in a huge frame rate drop when I play games. I can get up to 150fps in Dead Space just staring at a wall or something, but recording brings that down 80 or 90fps. Anyone know what's up with that?
Also, I'd be down for either some flying or whatever gameplay tonight or tomorrow. Not really watching the Olympics a whole lot, lol. -
DirtyTrickster Notebook Evangelist
I can't get Msi to record in game. I'll hit the record key but nothing happens.
-
What key did you assign it to under "Global video capture hotkeys?" I have the asterisk, the minus sign, and the plus sign on my keyboard's number pad (keys I never use) to toggle recording, the on-screen display, and taking screenshots.
-
DirtyTrickster Notebook Evangelist
I used f10-f12 -
To be perfectly honest, I don't use the "F" keys for anything because I don't know what their functions are
Built a damned computer and can't even tell you what some of the keys on a keyboard do, lol.
I believe the game uses F1 through F6 (changing seats in a vehicle, for instance) and that's as far as I go. Anything past that is probably tied to a Windows 7 self-destruct countdown
-
DirtyTrickster Notebook Evangelist
Hmmm. They worked with FRAPS. I'll try different keys. -
ha i just tried playing on 1920x768, and i have to say im liking the wider camera angle, i can see more stuff, and i get more performance, sort of a win win.
-
aduy, is your in-game name bullet...something (forgot the last part). I meant to ask, how does 2.5:1 look?
And I never got to say thank you to either Dirty or Falco. You guys both left before I finished typing xD -
yes, it is, and its cool, because it gives you more periferal view, you could totally run it on a big external screen and sit real close, and it would be epic. you could do other ratios too, i just tried this, maybe ill try 1920x900 next.

Why did this double post?

No problem man. Hopefully my crazy jet bindings can help in some way. Sorry I had to bolt like that. Wife ca min and said "We need to go pick up the baby." So I had to move. -
DirtyTrickster Notebook Evangelist
Finally got MSI afterburner to record. Here is a clip of me just goofing off, trying to get a grip on flying the jets. Wish I had the nerve/skill to do it while in a dogfight! Sorry about the low quality.

Funny story, actually. You gave me your key bindings, I monkey'd with them for a good 15-20 minutes, and I still (somehow) ended back up with your original settings, haha. Granted, I made a few tiny changes, but everything else was followed verbatim
And hey, in most sane peoples' heads child > video game, lol.
What did you change to make it work? And I'm extremely jealous of that hanger fly-through. Try it in a dogfight. If you manage to get shot down, anyway, you'll still look like a boss
-
Haha it looks like you recorded it using a view video cam

It would be sweet to pull it off during a dogfight, but I need to go too straight to make it work. I'd be killed instantly. I did change my key binding for afterburner to make it work.
I don't know what that's about. I've never uploaded a video to YouTube before. I used windows movie maker to combine the videos, but my copy doesn't look like that. Something with YouTube formatting. Looks like a fishbowl. -
I deserve something for this. A mention on Battlelog, a dog tag from DICE. Something...

Its either Windows Movie Maker or YouTube trying to keep the plane steady in the middle of the video.
I got a similar request from YouTube uploading this video, but i think it was because of the video glitching while i was recording.
What, what the (censored) just happened? 720p - YouTube -

I hate to keep posting videos, but I wanted to share. I cleaned up, and reedited my original video and added some more maps. I also uploaded it at 720p with out all the weirdness that the first video had.

I had a brief glimpse into Falco's jet flying world tonight. I went 14-6 in the canals. Two of the deaths came from playing engi, the other 4 from failing to negotiate turns with gravity. I don't think I was shot down at all.
We did have a good AA which saved me multiple times.
It was fun getting double kills from helis and LAVs, and nothing beats cutting the turn sharp enough to pummel the other jets belly with bullets.
Got my 2nd service star too!
Thanks for the tips and unranked server practice Falco and Metallica. -
Your Welcome

On a far lesser scale, your welcome xD

Anyone else getting lag on EVERY server? Everyone's complaining about it so I know it's not my connection.
