What do you mean by lag? I'm getting stutters way more than usual, but I'm not sure if that's my setup or not. No lag otherwise.

 

Stutters. Lag spikes, pauses. It's everywhere and looks like it's system wide because everyone is complaining about it. Apparently a botched punkbuster server side update.

 

Now that creates more problems than it solves, doesn't it !?

Is it worth it to change any of the graphics settings in the Nvidia Control Panel to make BF3 look better or just stick with the in game settings?

Glitch, lol. Reminds me of the days of playing Worms when your worm would survive just by sitting on a hovering pixel, or your missile would do nothing because of an errant pixel in its way that you didn't realize was there...

 

no this isnt hacking, it has to do with the fact that the game thinks the player is on a surface, and the body can only lay in one way, so it just sticks out. games have a long way to come as far as realistic animations, but maybe in bf4 it will be more realistic.

 

Uh... Please don't mention BF4. I don't believe DICE has announced when the next patch will be and EA is already shoving BF4 down our throats. $70 to buy a separate game (Medal of Honor) just to try the BF4 Beta? What a load of bologna.

Hi guys I have some quesitons regarding the mp.

So my friend let me try the single player on my laptop after days of nagging him. and I am able to run the game on high settings 27-35 fps.

Now I know that the mp is much more demanding. but judging by that fps from campaign, do you think I will be able to run mp with playable fps? Is it worth it for me to buy the game?

my specs are gtx 260m 550/950/1375 and duo core t9600 OC @ 3.2 ghz, 8gb.

It came with Dead Space, my first horror-survival video game, for free. The only reason I bought it was because of that and my desire to play it (Dead Space), but in the end regret still creeps over me. Close Quarters is pretty bad, the weapons that came with it aren't spectacular (granted, I do like the AUG A3 and the MP5K), the soldier and gun camouflages are worthless, the dog tags mean nothing, and you can't even change back to the original knife. Not to mention the fact that I don't even know what the last two DLC include.

In a nutshell, a DLC (Armored Kill) has to basically revamp an entire game. The way DICE patches the game I can't see things going smoothly.

I would have been fine with Premium sans Close Quarters and having to essentially pay for Back To Karkand a second time.

Well, back to watching Stargate for me

 

I got spanked yesterday...bad. Every match I played I was getting destroyed. After awhile I was rage killing. Just running and gunning. Frustrating! I got knifed by the same guy like 4 times in 1 match at Caspian Border! It's a huge map and he continued to dominate me.

What's up with not being able to join the NBR platoon? D: I also can't seem to add myself to the NBR BF3 Friends List.

 

Don't really bother much on the friendlist. More than half of them on it are now inactive.

As for the NBR platoon, Deagleson is the only person that maintains it at the moment. He sometimes comes on.

Pretty much not well on conquest large maps, you be stuck around average 10-15 fps. Which cause you warp around in the game. Rate of fire can be affected by low fps.
You seem to can try playing on small servers with small maps (16 pop).

Just give it a try and see if you can stand it.

Returned to BC2 because I missed playing some of the maps (especially the snow ones). I'm having fun. I'm trying to find my BF2 disk so I can install that too but so far it hasn't turned up

One thing I've been noticing is that my ping was like 75-90, usually I'm on servers with less than 40 ping, typically less than 30 even, although I do better with higher ping servers.

 

Ever since I got my new AMD7970 notebook BF3 works much, much better than my PC. Everything registers much more accurately and flows so flawlessly compared to my PC even if graphics are set low on it's 550Ti... I think somethings just wrong with how certain hardware works with BF3 (or how BF3 works with the hardware, rather)

 

For some reason I just recently learned that I don't have to pop in the BF2 disk in order to play How the hell is that possible? The same thing goes for Far Cry 2. I thought the disk was necessary for install AND for playing? Diablo 1 needs the disk, but perhaps it has something to do with the technology...? I swear I recall my computer asking for the discs (not "disks," as I learned) for both Far Cry 2 and BF2

I've yet to try to play on higher ping servers. I keep hearing this "client side hit detection" and I think someone tried explaining it like "whoever has the higher ping will do better because the server treats their ping as normal" or "the server will go by their ping and not yours." If this is true, it seems utterly moronic. What happened to the days of a ping kick feature?

 

Some games have recent updates that removed their CD checks.

BF2 got a huge 1.5 update which include their removal of cd checks.

BF3 Rcon doesn't send ping info, therefore they can't kick.
However, there are workaround server addons which requires icmp services on the user end to be exposed or use the chat to measure time.

I think Dice compromised to client side detection in order to have more room for other information to improve immersion.
There is a limit of how much information sent/recieve be reliable and in a timely fashion.

 

Higher ping equals higher survivability.
Sometimes i play like a gaming god on US servers with 150+ ms but it is kinda cheap thing to do.
So long since i booted up BF3.
Bring on Black Ops 2 or MoH: Warfighter so we can remove the cheaters.

I'll have to mess around with different pings, then. Sounds fun The only sniper-only server I've found so far is in Germany and my estimated ping would be around 110ms (I believe it's measured in milliseconds).

But have you really had that many encounters with cheating? I've seen a few (less than 15-20 since launch), but nothing to warrant putting the game down.

 

lol, only way to play BF3 now is to just forget all that and just run around like you're playing MW3 and just playing twitch style and have fun. At least I found.

 

Ha my favourite way to play is with other people that have mics, and then get it the chopper gunner seat and tv missile the crap out of the other team, last week falco and i teamed up with him flying the chopper and me gunning and we wrecked on the other team for 5 games.

I've finally gotten to the point where I feel comfortable gunning AND flying the chopper. That's never happened until this past week (first Attack Helicopter Service Star might have had something to do with it, lol).

But man, that TV Missile is a bit confusing. I thought you could detonate it remotely by pressing the left mouse button or something. Now, apparently, hitting "Q" while in-flight does something (perhaps it just causes the missile to fly line-of-sight?). Still need to get used to controlling it, as well.

On topic: I seem to have a problem running BF3 on other servers except one named "fragnetics" (SGP), the punkbuster kicked me out of every server except this one with the reason "no packet flow"

Does anybody know how to fix this?

Manual update punkbuster. The fragnetics server probably doesn't run PB so that is why you didn't get kicked.

With a small OC 1024x768 stable 30> 60 fps sometimes 25fps.(Texture quality>High)
In 1366x768 is smooth but FPS drop is too large (20)

Close quarters was just a semi call of duty - ripoff, but armoured kill's gonna be what battlefield is all about.

I'm enjoying it more now than I did when it was released. It seems like all the CoD quickscope MLG pros have gone back to MW3 and it's more about tactics than shooting everything in the face while hiding in the bushes half a mile away from the objectives. I also haven't had any games ruined by hackers. People cry about hackers a lot in the games I've played, but I've yet to see anyone that I thought was hacking.

 

You're one of the lucky few. Watch the chat dialog. Every server I'm on there's at least two that get pbbanned. And at least one a week that is blatantly cheating sometimes affects me or not. I just posted two youtube vids that I made of cheaters, they were one server after the other.

 

I see bans get handed out, but I don't really notice the hacking/cheating. I remember when it first came out you'd have to deal with the tardos that could knife you from 2 miles away. The worst I've seen recently is people cheesing game mechanics, like using the spawn beacon to chute onto the crane in Noshahr Canals

 

I have watched the dialog box and have seem people banned for cheating. One case, I was killed 5 times by knife at my teams deployment spawn.

Isn't a hack, but one of the more clever "cheaters" I've seen was in Firestorm. The guy would drop in from a heli or plane and jump into our transport heli (which is parallel to the attack heli).)He would switch seats and just sit there with his RPG and wait for the the attack heli to try to take off, then one shot kill them. Once I figured out what he was doing, I'd c4 the transport heli and hide. Blew him up like 5 times. He wouldn't quit even while dieing multiple times. Finally the match ended and I left the server.
