I just played a few rounds of BC2 and BF3 sure does look really similar. Of course, this isn't a coincidence since they both use the same engine, even if the BF3 version is heavily updated.

Of course, this does not imply that BC2 =/= BF3 which a lot of people seem to imply or outright say. I think we will probably have to wait till we get in the BETA or a demo to pass final judgement. Safe to say however, I think DICE knows what they're doing and they want to deliver an experience akin to BF2 when it first came out.

BATTLEFIELD 3: FULL ALPHA RUSH GAME (HD)
    ‪BATTLEFIELD 3 (BF3): FULL ALPHA RUSH GAME (HD)‬‏ - YouTube

    - This being a smaller map, 32 people instead of 64 isn't a bad thing
    - You can continue to shoot while getting up from prone. I'm really liking that feature.
    - "Be Advised blah blah blah" "Be Advised blah blah blah" "Be Advised..." they use that line quite liberally. If I wanted advice I'd call my investment advisor.
    - Completely Lone Wolf style gameplay. I didn't see any squads working together and only one revive the whole match.
    - 7:10, okay lighting that guy up and his subsequent fall was pretty cool.
    - Music buildup to MCOM destruction and end of game adds some nice drama, :D

p.s. how do you embed video in this forum?

Wow...I could of sworn they said they got rid of dropshotting. Really not liking this so far.

But I never play Rush, just want to see conquest on a big map.

You're right, drop shotting was no fun. I was assuming the firing was inaccurate, didn't consider that!

Really not liking the video I have seen of BF3 so far. I can see it now, camping, laying on the ground in the grass.

Almost every video I have seen people are just laying in the grass. I guess the older crowd will like this game as they can just sprawl out on their lawn chair and camp one spot for the entirety of the map. While twitch gamers get shot by a bush.

I just realize, BF3 keep going backward form BF2 in almost every way beside the destructible environment. Mainly didn't we get 3 army in BF2? (e.g U.S, China, Middle East)? Didn't we get 7 class in BF2? Now we have 2 army and 4 class, what a downgrade :(

the last footage actually look good, I'm starting to feel excited again however I need to see Jet and Helicopter gameplay as well as other map.

For some reason the graphic still don't look as good as the single player campaign, like much less detail.

From the singleplayer campaign trailers, it appears as if you're fighting against a Middle-Eastern military while parts of the campaign is taking place in Iran and Iraq, so maybe they'll include the Iranian Military or some kind of a MEC faction similar to Battlefield 2.

How do you enable Ultra settings in BC2? I see people say there are ultra settings, and on benchmark for the 560m they run it on ultra, but I see no option in game?

There are no ULTRA option´s available. The only thing you can do is to
choose advanced and set everything to HIGH and MSAA to 16x or 8x (depends on your card and dx-Version) and AF to 16x or 32x and enable HBAO and VSYNC. (so many and´s!!!)
This options are the highest available and some call them ULTRA or maxed out...

I have no idea at all. D:
Recieved a email saying that EA & Dice values a great BF player like me, bla bla bla generic text.

So im guessing you need either Battlefield Veteran Status and sign up to the newsletter or a mix of both.
My account got veteran status btw.

Do people still play BF2? Is it active and newb friendly? I've played tons of shooters before, but never got too into the Battlefield series, played Vietnam online a bit, but idiots would jump into all the vehicles and go around crashing into trees and stuff.

If you're annoyed by idiots doing backflips in helicopters and crashing them on takeoff, then you probably won't have a great time with BFBC2 :p

I would personally recommend BF2. There are plenty of busy servers still. It's not as newbie-friendly since most of the players these days have been playing regularly for years, but you'll get the hang of it. At the very least, you'll be able to trust your teammates to know what they're doing.

That said, BFBC2 is not bad, and it's still a very fun game. It's just not quite the "full" Battlefield experience that BF2 is.

Battlefield 2 is still quite popular. In fact with mod support, you'll find a lot of well made modifications out there that bring new life to the original game. The biggest and most successful mod is Project Reality which is a full out modification with lots of new vehicles, weapons, additional armies, and a completely new "realistic" gameplay. The other mod to look at is Forgotten Hope 2 which is essentially a WWII modification that introduces completely new setting/content and with superior graphics improvements. What's amazing is that both games have pushed the aging BF2 engine to its limits to provide new game changes, graphics and a lot more (128 player servers). I would definitely go with Battlefield 2 for its long lasting appeal.

I bought BC2 last night because I wanted to try out the SP campaign, but I didn't play too much because it stresses my system and made it uncomfortable on my lap, so I'm waiting for my U2 cooler that's coming in today. I tried MP on a couple empty servers, mainly to get used to the helicopter controls. They're sort of awkward, I'm used to having pitch as W and S and a separate key set for the collective.

I know I'll probably get shouted down for this :D but BC2's SP doesn't seem as...polished as say, COD. Does it get better after the WWII part? I guess part of it is that I really don't like WWII as a setting, bores me.

The WWII part is only a preamble to the entire game, the rest is set in modern day. I agree it's not nearly as awe inspiring as the Modern Warfare games, but it's still pretty decent. Battlefield never was much about single player games though.

This game suck MAJOR in comparison to bad company 1. I can never get myself to finish the single player campaign, but probably isn't as bad as COD: BO since anything Treyarch make is boring as hell, but some of the most boring single player ever.

Can't believe I spended 50 dollars on that game, only to end up buyin it for 10 dollars on steam :D

Only the limited edition, and there is some debate whether it is only Pre-Orders that get it. I personally don't think so because when I purchased my Digital Deluxe Edition they where advertising that if purchased you get a spot in the BF3 beta(Little red banner that said BF3 and it was in the description).

My biggest problem was that you can't adjust field of view in single player. Having that zoomed in look makes me nauseous, seriously. But I'm trudging through it to finish it. I started it once before, but never finished it. Now that I'm quite a ways into it, I must have been closer to finishing it than I thought because I remember everything about it so far.

You've never been able to adjust the FOV in single player, only MP.

The more I see these BF3 shots the more it really is beggining to look like Bad Company 3. I'm not even sure the graphics are that much better than BC2.

Looks like another insane hype machine from DICE.

That's what I've been saying all along, yet some people say I'm crazy. It looks good, just more Bad Company 2 than anything else. So far it seems this will be Bad Company 3 especially if they use the dreaded target triangle and Q key instead of the Comma-Rose?

Does anyone have any idea how a low-end notebook GPU might run on this? I recently purchased a Thinkpad T420 with an NVS 4200M on it. It's roughly equivalent to an 8600GT, from what I can see.

Yes you can before the first patch using dev console, which was taken away very quickly by a patch, so not many people got to used it. I didn't use it personally but I have seen other who have that or unless my eyesight is bad. Those FOV did not look anything like mine so I believe I am correct in this matter.

Well BC2 use frostbite 1.5, BF3 use frostbite 2.0 which is really not that much better. It could also be the same engine except they purposely made BC2 not look as good so that they can make BF3 look really good, meh I never trust EA ever.

Cool. What's the framerate like? If I can get 30+ FPS at 1366x768 (or 1600x900, if I can push it) on low settings, then I will be satisfied.

I'm downloading as we speak. Some of my friends are getting a "You don't qualify to view this page." error which might be linked to not being subscribed to some EA newsletter.

Blurry proof, please don't mind the language, had to prove it to some other friends:
