Similar specs to you with a 285m and not much better. Hoping for the full game to run smoother but, as BC2 still runs awful on my rig despite more graphically intensive titles being fine (Witcher 2/Crysis 2), I feel like Dice's base code for these games just doesn't sit well with my GPU. Shame.
-
I have a lot of problems with lag. its just unplayable. my cpu is all he time at 100% and my gpu maxed at 86% the Gram is ok like 500 most of the time. i belive that i dont have a bad cpu neither a bad gpu to run the game at bare minimum since a lot of games that are out now i can play them maxed out with 25fps but usually i turn down shadows AA AF blur DOF so i get above 30.
lets hope this will be improved in the following days and we can. i still cant wait for skyrym and rage as for other games naah just to play them a except for f1 2011
.

Funny, because BF2 was optimized very well!
In Karkland (Here I go again) in BF2 I still have 128 bot fights, and on my M11X R1, it runs pretty damn well, unlike CS:S the game lags at over 15 bots.
BF2 was optimized to the max.
I hope BF3 is the same. -
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
I am surprised how well the PS3 Beta is running, The PC beta honestly almost feels like a crappy console port. No clipping issues or Jumping glitches on the PS3.
-
-
This seems not that good with my 5870m...
-
Damn that's some sexy sky rendering and lighting.
-
You can launch battlelog that way, lol, but no way to get Steam in-game. To be honest, I think EA purposely designed BF3 this way just to get people away from Steam exclusively. The battlelog is the dumbest idea ever, but EA has stated that's the way it's gonna be.

thanks man, appreciate it, now to find a server with slots >.> -
does anyone know why I can't get into a game. I join, then 20 seconds later it boots me saying "lost connection to login server"
-
Is the 6490M a good GPU to play BF3 on low? (1600 x 900 or 1366 x 768) If not can you pleaserecommend a better card for low settings
?
-
I'm finally able to play it and boy I hope there's a DX10 setting in the retail release! 20 to 45 FPS @ 1280x720 all low or off. Most concerning part though is that this is the first game to push my temps past 90 degrees.
Would anyone also happen to know how to change the settings without having to spawn first? -
How do I turn on the flashlight?
-
No Steam is super annoying.
Oh well I supposed like SC2 I might make an exception for this game. However Blizzard's DRM was a lot nicer then Origin (as far as I can see).
I'm confused on why EA is moving away from Steam though. Didn't they used to have a bunch of games there? I bought BFBC2 for $5 on Steam. -
Need to unlock it first
-
Those are decent specs (5650) and you can only run on low at that resolution?
Somebody told me I could run on medium high with a i7 2720 + ATI 6750m is that true at all? Your processor is worse but the GPU is in the same class, just a little older. My resolution would be 1440 by 900. I would rather never go below default. -
Same with 460m.
I can get up to 1080p with medium settings and I get about 35fps avg.
Graphics aren't smooth enough for me to enjoy the gameplay.
Argh, I hate upgrading
-
Well hopefully the horrid performance I am getting will be solved by switching to DX10 mode whenever that is possible; I have this annoying mouselag in Metro that I never had in BFBC2 regardless of FPS; lowering my resolution does nothing to help my framerate, but EVGA precision still says my GPU is running at 99%. I suppose I will just have to wait and run it on my desktop which should be perfectly capable of running BF3.
You don't actually need the password to join the caspian servers; if you search online you will find a console command for chrome that basically makes it so you don't need a password (yet another reason why the browser based battlelog is a horrible idea). -
I wrote this in another thread but thought it would be helpful here also:
Okay I got the BF3 beta. After struggling to get into games and change settings around I got a playable experience.
Core i5-2410m with Nvidia GT540m, 6gigs of ram stock clock frequency plays battlefield 3 at lowest settings around ~35 FPS. More than I expected. Make sure you update your graphics drivers and delete things on your computer that you don't or rarely use.
I'm assuming that once the game releases, that they'll have better support, so FPS will go up 10-20%
And if I OC, I'll throw a few extra frames in there also. BF3 is playable on a 540m. Play it on low though. -
Guys, how do I disable that stupid Motion Blur??? I put it on OFF but once I restart the game it's again on ON.
Can't I edit some config file to turn it completly off? -
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Well I want to join on the Beta bandwagon but so far I can't even log into Origin on my old and primary EA account. What the heck is going on EA???
-
Well I have the password for the caspian border map and I've been sitting here for 10 minutes constantly trying to join ONE of the TWO servers available in the US... I'm assuming thousands of other people are doing the same thing. I'll try for another 10 minutes and hope for the best...
-
I started playing it on my Xbox 360 and I'm not having any problems described here either. Smooth gameplay so far.
I think its an amazing game so far. This game is also my first Battlefield game too.
-
What the hell, i just downloaded the beta and i have to launch it through firefox? What the hell is this crap.
Also its just stuck at matchmaking... -
Sigh... quick match is broken.
Click on the multiplayer / server browser and select your filter criteria and click "view servers" and choose your server. -
Honestly its not even worth joining a Caspian border server; once you do get in it is literally the laggiest mess you could possibly imagine having in any game EVER. I think it might have something to do with thousands of people simultaneously trying to enter the password/connect to the server at the same time, or the map itself could be bugged. Either way, it is a mess.
Oh, and I cant get over 25 fps ,most of the time on Caspian border either... -
I am very curious as to how the GTX570m will handle this game
-
I hope it wasn't me that told you that! You do have a better GPU though so you might get by on all low at that res. When I tried it at 1440x900 my fps dropped by 10. The game still looks pretty good at all low. I'm currently using catalyst 11.9 maybe updating to 11.1 will give me a slight boost.
-
Ok, tested Mètro, tried Caspian and even recorded a video on my config while playing (10 mins). Playing it on 1366*768 from low to high cuts about 5 fps. On Caspian i had an average of 23fps (i think). The only solution I found to drastically improve performance is lowering the resolution to 1024*600. On that i can play the high preset on an average of 35 fps. Once the video is uploaded i'm going to link it
-
Um, ok is it just me or is the game stuttery as hell. Even at 27-35 fps its constant stuttering. Movement isn't smooth and the terrain looks like crap.
-
It is very stuttery. major mouse lag also.
-
Yeah i guess I'll be passing on this game when it comes out. My system cannot handle it well enough even on all lowest. I played the beta for 5 minutes and its unplayable. Waste of 4 gb of bandwidth.
-
I had some kind of artifact problems, based caused by some settings, because playing with them, they disappear and come back randomly. My GPU is constantly @99% but the temperature is lower by about 5°C compared to the "full load temperature" i saw in other games.
-
I played on caspian border. Lowest settings it still looks amazing... I took a few videos with my phone. I can upload them to youtube but I don't want a lawsuit lol.
Lets just say... It's freaking epic. I flew 3 jets. One I crashed, the 2nd I got shot down, third, I was up in the air for minutes before I got shot down. Game looks amazing...
Jets, tanks, helicopters, hummers, just everything. Huge beautiful map. 64 players, just omg. It's awesome.
I took a screenshot but it didn't save I don't think... I hope I can get into a caspian border game again. How I got in before was a server I was trying to log into crashed and emptied out, then I logged in. It said there was 0 players but as soon as I got in, the game was full. After a game and a half, the server crashed. I think they do it on purpose so people have a chance to get in. -
Don't know what you're talking about. I have a mid range laptop and I ran caspian border fluently the whole time with 64 players.
-
Runs pretty great on my machine. Barely any lag, just the annoying glitches and camping that people are doing. But this is a beta, so this is to be expected.
-
I am still trying to get this running properly here. I am reducing resolution to see how it helps. But I hate to play in lower resolutions that the normal...
-
First of all other people in the server were reporting having lag too. This didn't seem like lag from my PC, but rather I would walk 4 feet, then sort of skip back a foot. Everyone else was doing the same thing. This "rubberbanding" is usually server lag.
Also, if you will notice I have a GTX 560Ti connected through my expresscard slot, so I expect to have strange performance issues in a beta that is this unoptimized. I haven't really tried Caspian with my 5650m although I did for a couple of seconds and was only able to get around 30 fps on all low at 1366 x 768; your CPU is not that much better than mine nor is your GPU, so I don't see why you would get drastically different results. -
The beta is full of win.

Caspian has huge shadows problems, or at least flickering. It's really hard to distinguish things.
-
I'm getting some weird graphics issues on Caspian Border. However not getting it on metro.
BF3 - Caspian Border - Graphic issues (low settings) - YouTube (I didn't upload this but this is the issue)
Anyone got a solution? Cheers.
Specs in Sig. (running beta nvidia drivers) -
Have been playing a bit over that last couple days, and gotta say, it's a great game... I'm really excited to try the single player campaign.
Just finished playing in the Caspian map, that's truly where it's at... not sure why they didn't include that in the official beta, it's freakin' awesome ha! Jets, helicopters, AA tanks, off road armed buggies.... and it all looks gorgeous!
Performance wise on my G73 listed in signature, game runs fantastic... 1600x900 with high settings(what is loaded stock, whatever it will equate to in the final game) and the latest ATI drivers, totally smooth.... haven't taken the time to load up FRAPS yet as it's totally smooth haven't bothered. As a side note, I've seen no lag or rubberbanding or graphic glitches as others have reported on Caspian.
Totally recommend based on what I've tried so far, hoping the single player campaign is good as that's my favorite, but online has been fun so far with beta and I know is the bread and butter of this game.
Only concern is will battlelog.battlefield.com be required for all gameplay, even offline singleplayer campaign? IF so that SUCKS!!!!! And I'd hate that.... It'd be the exact same thing as Ubisoft's online constant connection which I HAVE FOUGHT AND AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Yesterday, had a game where both teams glitched underground...and remained there for the whole game. It was pretty funny seeing about 10 people stacking up on the empty space
Just looking around aimlessly...
-
I decided I'll upload the caspian border videos to youtube as something like "3q0p9jfejl;sifj" and description of "me knitting quilt"
Lmao who searches youtube for quilt knitting? Not anyone that would know what caspian border is.
The videos aren't great quality but they're pretty interesting (and funny at points) in my opinion. -
Seems like that was a complete server issue if everyone had lag. Check back in a bit and I'll have the videos uploaded.
@maksin01 best video ever.
Also, toasting in epic bread. -
whats the pw for caspian?

Gameplay was smooth (30-45 FPS) on all high settings @ 1920 x 1200 with HBAO and 2xaa with no AA smoothing. This was on a stock desktop 5870 1GB. I may consider a more powerful card or another 5870 (if I can find one) after the game comes out.
As far as the game goes, I'm impressed. Although it is a BETA and there are a lot of bugs and really glitchy things. I'm going to reserve full judgement until the full release. Playing rush with no vehicles on Metro didn't feel so much like BF. I only got to play the Caspian map for about 15 minutes and it was alright, although sometimes I felt like may 64 players was too much cause the map didn't seem that big. -
They keep changing it...
