You get points in any class for suppressing fire. Basically when you have someone suppressed(i.e. shooting in their direction without actually hitting them) their screen gets blurry. You get points for suppressing fire if someone else kills that person.
-
Ohh that's interesting. Is it extremely blurry or just a little? I can't seem to find any info on this anywhere...
-
It's pretty dark. It happened to me earlier today.

-
what? :confused2:
-
Holy cow! Whoa, lol. Didn't take long did it?
-
First off, delete that post, the picture is too big. I changed my post around.
Someone hacked the beta browser and put in their own 200 player server. -
200 players in one server? If it works, that's fantastic but completely unnecessary as the maps were intended for 64 player capacity. Maybe if they made 5km wide maps like Arma II...
-
Lol it reminds me of the time I played MW2 free for all on rust with the same amount of players as ground war. Hackers are fun.
Not like it's something you'd want to play every time, just was interesting to see/play. -
It's been done with the BF2 engine as well. Project Reality mod for BF2 has had 128-200 player servers run before, but it was decided that it was only good for special occasions such as tournaments.
-
Why do we have prone....why?? It is just one more way for noobs to camp.
-
Now these are good trailers..

LOL. I laughed so hard at the stretched neck. Never saw that bug. LOOOOL! +1

Tried this game on my desktop for the first time earlier today and the graphics settings will not do anything; from Low all the way up to Ultra, the game looks worse than CoD4. Runs at a solid 60 FPS on my 6950 though, go figure. Seems to be stuck at "low" regardless of what I do, though.
Also, if I'm killed in the middle of changing my key bindings, I have to do it all over again. Idiotic, whoever designed that system. Downloading on my laptop now, we'll see how that handles it. -
You need to restart the game for the settings to take effect.
-
lol...
Can I have some ammo? NOPE -
I would do that, but now I can't join any servers... "no contact with EA back end, please try again later."
Finally got this running on my laptop and got into a server, my overall first impression is positive. Runs at low-med at 1366x768 with 30-45 FPS, gameplay overall is smooth, and it seems to be more fun to play than BC2, at least so far.
Battlelog is still annoying though, and there seems to be no way to un-bind a key at least that I can find. Can anyone help me out there? -
OMG! E-P-I-C. And the BF Heroes music fits perfectly!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=UeQwGysn0KQ -
So apparently there will be NO SQUAD MENU IN GAME!!! DICE is once again trying to force their Battlelog crap on us and somehow the squad men will be integrated into the WEB BROWSER which seems like a HORRIBLE Idea.
I strongly urge anyone who is a fan of BF games to vote in this poll for an in game squad menu:
Petition to get a fully working in game squad management (poll) - Electronic Arts UK Community
So far in a day it has 1200 yes votes and 10 no votes, which should demonstrate to DICE that we overwhelmingly want a squad menu in game. DICE actually watch this site so there is a chance of this changing something if we can get enough people in the poll. -
Good find, I voted. Hope they'll change it.
-
The server isn't there anymore...
-
There were a couple 200 person servers yesterday when I was on.
-
Anyone here playing on windows8 preview? I have tons of issues, can't go in fullscreen and therefor it runs like crap.
-
Don't use Windows 8 preview - problem solved.
-
More like "Problem skipped" but i agree.
Borderlands would not work on Windosw 8 either.
So i just went back to my Windows 7 install. -
It's comments like this that makes forums utterly useless. I didn't ask for your opinion on whether you like win8 or not..
If you don't use or don't have any actual information, don't answer.
And solutions in general are not found with that attitude.
you might as well say "don't play battlefield3" that would solve my issue too right? ....
thanks. -

You're using Windows 8 preview. Not even a release candidate for W8 and you want help getting it to work? Go clog up a Windows 8 forum for help.
If you're using a preview version of an OS, you have no right to complain about what works and what doesn't and then ask how to fix it on a forum not meant for discussing said OS. -
Just unlocked the sv98. That thing is amazing.
-
lmao. he actually told you how to easily solve the problem and yet you took it to heart like a child to say the least. this game was meant to run on 7, not 8.
as USA said, go clog up a win8 thread about this problem then. -

So I was playing this morning some more and have a few thoughts to share...I see that on a lot of servers, teamwork is really non-existent. At least Operation Metro Rush. To be honest it doesn't feel too much like Battlefield, to me at least. I hope some of the other maps do a better job of bring the true, BF Conquest experience. Rush is nice, but Conquest is ultimately a better gamemode for encouraging teamwork and varied combat. Infantry only doesn't really do it for me in BF, I think vehicles offer a huge dynamic that fails to be realized on IO servers.
Anyways, as far as the guns go, I like the fact that there is variety and that they can be customized. However, sometimes, guns feel just a little too accurate, maybe it's just me being used to the horrible hit detection in BF2.
One great thing though, the game has not crashed once for me. This is a good sign!!! -
I have actually seen the stretch neck thing in game, the guy was basically swimming along the ground looking exactly like that. I got killed because I was laughing so hard.
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
to be fair, he didn't tell you "I don't like windows 8". He just said not to use it to play the BF3 beta. Even though you don't like the answer, the fact is, he's right. If he told you not to play BF3, that wouldn't solve the issue. The implication is that your primary issue is not being able to play the game. Since BF3 beta isn't compatible with windows 8 preview, what better advice exists than to use version 7 instead? -
Using a preview build or anything other than a release candidate/retail build as your primary OS is just asking for problems, broheim.
-
Stupid question, but how do you open up chat?
-
J - for all
K - team
L - for squad
...I think -
Running a pre-beta (RC) OS with a beta game and have issues... go figure. Just saying you can't expect things to work AT ALL with that combination, nor get much support.
-
Hey guys
I'm having a problem on my laptop, mind you this is my first laptop I usually build my own deskop but went for a laptop this time for various reason.
So I bought a alienware m17xr3 with the 2,2ghz i7 and the gfx 460m gpu. so far when i ignore the driver error msg i can run the game fine on low settings in 1920:1080 res. if i turn up to medium+ ill play for 5min and the game will crash telling my gpu ran out of memory.
So heres where I need help. I download the beta drivers from nvidia but cant install them cause it sais hardware not found. But! I have read 200+ pages here and a couple of you run the same system as me and from my understanding noone here has problem getting beta drivers on your laptops.
How do you do it? is there a safe way to install the beta drivers and does it work with the m17x? -
it works with the m17x, actually, i installed the beta drivers on a friends m17x (exact same specs as yours) not just 2 days ago. Make sure you install them properly.
heres how you do that:
1. download driver sweeper (should be free) download here
2. go to your device manager and uninstall your display adaptor (should say 460m GTX)
3. reboot in safe mode and run driver sweeper scanning your computer for any Nvidia drivers left.
4. reboot again and install the new drivers!
5. reboot one last time and your good to go. -

Just some thoughts from me about the PC Beta as well as the PS3 Beta:
PC vs PS3: I don't need to tell you guys, PC looks significantly better. The details on shrubs, and lighting shadow effects are the most obvious. Both PC and consoles are supposedly using lower textures, but I don't expect the final version to close the gaps. PS3 Beta seems to be suffering MUCH more from falling through the map than the PC version. It's a mess, so DICE definitely has some work on their hands. Hopefully PC as the lead platform get's the bug-fix attention first, but we'll see.
Balance Issues:
I have some big problems here, my first being flashlights. The Tactical Flashlight is a joke. I know that a high power LED light is blinding in reality, but it's BS in this game. It blinds from 100+ yards, and even outside it is brutal from a distance. Inside, you're dead if someone flashes one of these in your face. Also, FFF (Friendly-Fire-Flashlighting) is bull. This will make it SOOO easy to grief. I'm honestly tempted to only play on FF on servers so I can kill teammates who put their flashlight in my face.
The next balance issue I will kind of combine: Shotguns and Snipers. In close quarter combat, the sniper wins every time. In long range combat, the shotgun wins. It's seriously BS.
And now scoring. They raised the points for arming and disarming M-Coms in rush mode on BC2, yet they went backwards in BF3 and left very little motivation (points wise) to arm/disarm M-Coms. The best "adversary" I faced so far as a guy who went 30-2 on the attacking team. What was hilarious is that his team lost without even blowing up a single M-Com on the first stage. They were only armed a few times. What's hilarious is that he was still awarded the MVP medal for that round. Dice, rush mode is a joke because of the incentive to NOT help win: disarming and arming M-Coms is dangerous and usually means you'll die in the process.
And a final gripe: identifying friend from foe. For some damn reason it is difficult in this game. I think it might be because of the 3D name tags of your teammates, but I'm having the damnedest time with identifying people in this game compared to other shooters.
P.S.
Dear Max Level People,
Go outside, get a life, take a shower and find a job. -
This, so much this. I loved the guy that was on my team and complaining about how terrible it was and how he didn't want to lose like it made any difference at all.
So many losers on this beta.
Also, yeah, the snipers are ridiculous. I remember that they said they were toning down the sniper rifles from BC2, but they really didn't. -
I don't know at what range you're referring to, but I actually love the shotguns in Battlefield 3. Depending on what kind of choke I'm using, I get a pretty good spread at about 25 yards with my M590A1. My friend fires the same Remington 870 tactical as the one in game and gets similar results as me. In Bad Company 2 the shotguns were a joke. Actually the entire weapons and damage systems they have is completely wrong. In Battlefield 3 the weapons are actually deadly. It still isn't ArmA or Project Reality (mind you it doesn't take half a mag of 5.56M NATO rounds to kill someone), but the weapons are satisfying to look at and shoot.
On the other note, identifying enemies is not that complicated. The Russians generally have a darker uniform (specially their helmets) but really, games today are already gimped because people are becoming lazy, so I really don't see an issue here.
In terms of performance, I'm a tad disappointed that the current graphics settings are limited in the beta, while I'm already struggling with the current higher settings. How well is the game running for you? -
after going 0-10, I rage quit. Got 10 sv98 hitmarkers on the same guy.
-
Unfortunately probably not because consoles typically need to be more polished, at least for the single player experience, aren't expected to have internet connection as readily as a PC. Not to mention sales volume.
-
Servers down?
-
I have a i7 2600k along with the Nvidia 560 Ti and it runs perfectly fine for me on my 1080p screen. So far, only weird thing I saw also was the long head/neck thing. That was pretty funny.
