That doesn't work? What happens, you just cant attach C4 to it?

I love the RPG though. Great for taking out snipers. I just use an IR scope, spot them, then quickly pop out with an RPG and take them out. Usually two shots is required because it's not super accurate, or it just spooks them out and they run. I'm surprised to see so many snipers camp in the same spot even after several kills. I usually just flank them and take them out.

I was just accused of cheating in a server, lol. They said I was using some sort of hack so they couldn't spot me. They wouldn't believe that that is actually a game glitch. Happened to me and a buddy of mine several times already.

Okay. I really want to use the SOFLAM.What weapons work especially well with it? The ones I can think of are the anti air missles, and the javelin. It's satisfying when a teammate is cooperating with your SOFLAM.

I still can't spot any enemies. I have them in my scope and press W (changed from Q) and nothing happens. This is on all servers, and I highly doubt I only join servers with spotting disabled. I've seen enemies spotted for me before.

There's a known bug in the game that you MUST have spot bound to Q, it can't be bound to anything else, or it won't work.

@scann: I just put the 11.10 drivers on my laptop and they seem to handle the game just fine. Upgraded from 11.6 and I don't really notice a difference other than the maps loading maybe 1 sec faster.

@shob, we'll do some games later tonight... I still need to unlock javelin, but I think the soflam also helps with vehicles like the guided missiles.

I just read up on the SOFLAM.
Its totally useless and only works with the Javelin anti vehicle weapon.

But clever me discovered that it spooks some enemies to bail their chopper or even airplanes as they dont have the flares unlocked. xD

When I first got the SOFLAM I thought it was useless too, but I guess I have to wait until people get their javelins. But an alternative is for me to put it down near and mcomm and see if anyone is coming to arm it or when they do see where the enemy hides :D.

Also, been using the M40 and loving the gun, but hate how I need 2 shots to kill a guy because it only does 75% damage. And is anyone playing it without a scope, makes the game more challenging and fun when you kill someone far away without scope.

    Sorry, I beat you:
    Battlelog / Sign in

However my best shot was a 480 point headshot on a running target. Once you get the range dialed in with the mil dots you can really start racking up the points; the 8X scope (which is one of the later unlocks) is especially good because it has more dots.
As for cheaters, I banned a guy from my server that had a SPM of over 900, and 90% of his kills were headshots (the admin utility records which kills are headshots). However today it seems the PB on our server is actually catching cheaters, as it has announced banning a few people for cheats (either that or it is just banning random people who aren't cheating, which wouldn't surprise me either).

Going to say that the soflam is a conditional use thing. Wide open maps like caspian, firestorm or kharg to some extent you can set it up somewhere high and knock off tanks over 500m away. It can also laze air targets - the problems is that the javelin missile isn't very fast so the soflam tracking on jets is great to scare them into thinking they have something on their tail, but trying to actually shoot one down with a soflam+javelin is a crapshoot. Works alright on choppers, but you seem to need 2 missiles to kill a chopper, sometimes 3... which brings up the issue that even with the explosives perk, you only get 3 javelin missiles. Ideally you would have a supply guy sit with the javelin engi, and have the recon using soflam, which means to make the combo work you have to be in a party with friends.

Also a tip for the javelin, is when you've locked onto a target, look straight up a split second before you launch it, and the missile will arc over anything instead of hitting walls.

SOFLAM is not totally useless IMO. It's pretty much map specific when it comes to its use (I mean SOFLAM on OP Metro isn't going to help).

But on maps like Firestorm/Caspian Border/Kharg and the other bigger more open maps, it's use can really help out your team. Even more if you play with people you're on voice with.

I posted a while back on how to SOFLAM works, and if you're alone using it, it can be "useless" and boring. If you have good teammates, being a SOFLAM user is rewarding.

Sounds like the issue I have. The game will just out of the blue boot me and shut down the App like it was never opened. Or it will freeze, and once in a while recover saying the driver crashed. Other times it's as you discribed. White screen, or it will just keep the screen dark and I have to hard shutdown. Driving me crazy as I'm at a 44% quit

Hmm, I still crashed even after 11.10. I thought it may have been my GPUs being undervolted so I increased the voltage on them. I'll up the voltage more tonight. Run them up to stock voltage. Hopefully that will help. Never had stability issues with the undervolt before. Stock clocks of 715/900 and stock voltage was dropped from 1.1v to .96v. Guess I'll try 1.1v, though I dodn't think it's a voltage issue. Think it's more driver related. may try and Nuke my drivers and start over.

I would not get a 23 killstreak without Hakira being the tank driver. Seriously, for the rest of the match I was mowing down enemies none stop. Until the other team was desperate enough to strap a car with C4 explosives and ram it into us. Got like 24 ribbons that it was compressed into 1.

For sure... the nbr folks I've played with so far are pretty good, and if they aren't they are at least wise enough to hand over vehicles to people with unlocks on maps with limited vehicles. Nothing worse than having some random take the only tank on the map with no upgrades, seeing him NOT leading charges on chokepoints, and then promptly driving into an AT mine after killing a whole 2 people :(

Problem is, it gets back to practice maps and teamwork/communication. I can't fault someone for wanting/trying to take a tank or other vehicle. Everyone wants to have fun. Newbs have to learn somehow.

I don't have any upgrades, and not sure why not yet, but I can lay some pretty massive death upon the enemies in a tank.

I just wish maps had more vehicles, even if more jeeps. Nothing sucks more than having to run 200m to the nearest capture point only to die immediately.

Also has anyone *not* received points for a flag capture or a kill? Many times I'll be right under the flag until captured, and no indication of points. Plus I'll kill someone, and I know it's me that killed them but get nothing.

Oh for sure I understand people need practice to get good in vehicles, but true teamwork would involve handing out precious assets to people who can make use of them. This really applies to small maps like siene or damavand, with only the 1 tank that seems to take forever to respawn - an experienced driver can change the game and push the team into a win because of the chokepoints and map setups. Having someone take your only tank and drive it into the river on siene is the opposite of helpful and doesn't indicate someone needing practice either, it's just idiocy. Likewise the guy who takes our tank to D (enemy territory) and promptly bails out of the tank, letting the enemy use it and have 2 tanks - all because he just wanted a ride and didn't want to run, and the tank was the closest vehicle he could grab.

Practice all you want on larger maps like firestorm and kharg where there are plenty of tanks and vehicles, I'm just saying if you know you are bad, or know that someone on your tank can better use an asset, taking them on small maps can/will lead to losses, when they could have been wins. I also wish there were more vehicles and have been looking for a server where they respawn quickly. As far as communication goes, these are the same type of people who don't drop ammo or health kits, don't watch chat for engineers screaming "STOP MOVING THE TANK SO I CAN REPAIR"... again, I haven't come across anyone from NBR who has been like this, so we're just venting at the general public ;)

Yeah I guess so. This game just lacks any kind of encouragement of teamwork. The more I play, the more I realize these maps are definitely not really meant for 64 players. 48 players max, several better with 24-32 players. Can't wait for the Karkand map pack.

Lead platform does mean everything and it's clearly apparent. Lead platform means it is designed for that platform first and foremost and ported to the other. If it was designed for PC first, it would have had larger maps, a full fledged commo-rose, commander, better squad/team interaction, to name a few. In all honesty this game really should have been a dual studio design/release. One for PC, one for consoles, or on consoles just call it Bad Company 3 and just share the engine...

Yeah, I really hope the "classic" maps are true 64-player scale. I'm even ok if they said they were planning on implementing as many features as possible making it a true successor to BF2 with a mega patch later. But now they're just trying to save face and are going about it helter skelter. They did add a stickied "wish list" thread on their forum though. So maybe that's a good sign.

To be honest I'm already kind of bored of the game. It feels like an extension of Bad Company 2. I know that's been said a billion times already, but it's true. I put in a few hundred hours into BFBC2 and this feels like the next iteration. I mainly have played engineer, and will switch classes soon just to mix it up, but it just feels... same.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution was very well made.
Its lead platform was consoles but they hired a external studio tasked to port it to PC.

That I can deal with, and is great. I didn't get too far in Deus Ex, maybe I'll go back to that for a bit. But so far it plays very well and does bring back some memories of the original, so it does have that "feel".

I genuinely feel like giving up with this game, I admit it, I suck... the amount of times I've dropped to the floor and tried to burst fire a round into someone's head only for them to 1-shot me, the only thing I'm genuinely good at is sniper aiming, bullet drop and leading with the shot on running targets etc - but stationary sniping doesn't lead to kills o_O

on top of that every bloody server I've been on seems like a group of headless chickens running headfirst into death without teamwork, covering fire, dropping ammo or health packs even defibrilating people

I like the realism of people having a defined space so you can't just run through them - but christ, people boxing you in and not minding their surroundings

and 64player metro is possibly the worst thing I've ever played, the only upside being I just run around spamming medkits and defibbing people at choke points

was so excited about this game and so far I'm just downhearted with how little people play as a team, how poorly designed the maps seem for 64players and generally just how crap I am at it

;-( sad panda... at least it runs well/looks good on the laptop

If wanted to create my own 24-7 server for NBR what would I need?

I'd like there to be a place we can all get into together. As it is, I can't get into most of your games since they are usually full (especially Wingnuts games).

Although Battlefield 3 could be fun at times I'm generally upset over DICE for betraying my trust, by releasing a half-a*s console game as a "sequel" to Battlefield 2. From the butchering of all the features that made BF2 great, to no teamwork, and generally small and condensed maps, the game is obviously console focused and not a "PC Platform" game. The Battlefield series were the only PC series I was loyal to, but after my disappointment with Bad Company 2, Vietnam, and now Battlefield 3 I don't think I will continue to invest in DICE. I guess the death of PC gaming doesn't necessarily mean a decrease in the number of games coming to the PC, but rather the quality that was once regarded for games on the PC. The dumbing down of society as we know it...

Lots and lots of money, really.

EA/DICE doesn't distribute ranked server files for anyone to host. You pretty much have to request for a subscription based license which they rarely give out to small gsp or rent their partners servers.
