Good heavens what kind of hardware are you playing on? Sounds cool.

Ah you haven't seen/heard Vicious' setup yet? Visit his YouTube channel (ViciousXUSMC) or his website ( ViciousXUSMC's Technology Database - computers, games, gadgets, reviews, its all here.) and I'm sure you'll see it prominent in a lot of his reviews.

I felt sorry for my friend because he bought 3 1920x1080 Acer Monitors for his Sony Vaio FX with a GT 425m. Every time he plays some games like WoW and BFBC2 through 3 monitors, he can't get good framerate.
-
I am quite happy with my 23" samsung 2048x1152 as my main monitor. Its the biggest monitor that can comfortable fit on my desk as a main monitor.
although lately I have been playing on my secondary 1080p monitor since its angled in such a way that its easy to watch tv at the same time. -

I think they are doing something about it. I read in a thread where the developer was talking about taking a look at that dominance.
Majority of the replies were, "Unlock the gun rather than complain" to who ever posted the issue.
-
LOLWUT? Feel sorry for him? What was he thinking? Tell him you'll help him by taking two monitors off his hands, lol.
Yeah usually those are the responses you get. As if everything is perfect and doesn't need any balancing. -
Blame Vicious for that
. Ever since my friends saw his triple monitor gameplays, he was to enthused about just the set up of triple monitors rather than looking into some drawbacks.
I believe he's building a $1,500 desktop right now to go along with the monitors. He's trying to get the best of the best (dual gtx 590s, ???) for the best deals around christmas. It's his money, but I could make a decent desktop for probably $500 less than his budget. -
I believe you can do triple monitor support with most powerful single Radeon cards, but nVidia requires SLI. Dual GTX 590's is a bit overkill, but hey, not my money, I guess I'd do it if I could afford it.
Not sure how you can do triple monitor with a nvidia laptop though unless you use something like a TripleHead2Go. -
Yea, he used triplehead2go vga adapter. Could I do triple monitors on my laptop even without a displayport?
-
Most laptops support dual displays only (if even that). Frequently it's one plus laptop lcd.
-
Anyone else having a lot of trouble with origin lately? Tonight it keeps saying my login or pass or email is invalid, even though nothing has changed since I played last night, and it won't log in even if I DO retype it.
-
I remember they made me change my password so it can have a capital letter. Have you done that?
-
Didn't Nvidia come out with their own version of eyefinity? I think it was called Nvidia Surround.
I had that problem one night. One of their Origin authentication servers went down and I couldn't play for a few hours.
I haven't been forced to do that yet except to my SWTOR account. -
Yes, but requires SLI, or I believe the 590 does on its own.

I give up, this list looks pathetic. It took them a month to offer this?
Minor "balance" updates, but nothing of significance. Funny thing is that the only thing they really confirmed was adding a horn beep but that doesn't look like it even made this list, lol. -
Funny, how the tactical light nerf is missing.
Aww they nerfed the .50 cal.
They were decent AA against helos. -
Nothing on the Coop bug either where your teammate can't move unless you force the mission to fail.
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Wait, you actually managed to hit something with the .50 cal's? -
Yes, against very stupid pilots who are stupid enough to fly in a straight line instead of strafing in a circle.
-
Yea, I've taken out helos with the .50cal HMG.
-
Once again DICE disappoints. I honestly don't know why I ever expected anything else. It has been a month and 90% of the fixes are simple weapon adjustments. It took them a month to edit a text file? Really?
Forget about the fact that the incredibly OP F2000 stays as it is while the G3 gets a NERF!?!?!?! I mean really, when did ANYONE EVER COMPLAIN ABOUT THE G3? It is a battle rifle. It is supposed to kill faster than the assault rifles because it fires more powerful rounds. Now it will take 4 hits to kill at close range (which is the same as the other AR's), but it fires at 500 RPM while the others are pushing around 800. Did anyone here EVER hear anyone complain about the G3? This Demize99 idiot needs to go because he clearly knows nothing about weapon balance. I have 400 G3 kills so far and I thought it was perfectly fine the way it is; you have very powerful rounds but a low fire rate and a lot of recoil, and a small clip. This MORE than balances out the high damage.
Basically, the guys at DICE are idiots. I am never buying a DICE game again. Not only did they screw up the weapon balance, but there is STILL no in game VOIP, and no talk about removing the universally loathed and obnoxious lens flare. No working commo rose, no toned down flashlights, no terrain destruction, no bombs on jets, and no removal of the idiotic audio spotting.
DICE, I am disappoint. -
Oooh patch notes!
*Press Ctrl + F*
*Looks for "USAS" or "Frag"*
*Finds nothing*
*Superhappy!*
No but on a more serious note, after looking through the weapon damage charts (Official taken from the game files), I saw that _most_ of the weapons require almost the same amount of time to kill someone at various distances (Assault Rifles). The difference was about 0.15 seconds at most between them.
I think the reason the F2000 / AEK-971 are the dominant weapons is because of their high rate of fire and low recoil (with grip, which is essential). I also read that some weapons (like the standard assault weapons don't work the silencer (you'll still show up on the radar). Some people say silencers reduce the recoil as well, although I'm on the fence on that statement.
People playing on a higher skill level (ESL), can kill people equally fast with the AK 74M / M16A3 compared to the AEK-971 and F2000. They all require the same amount of bullets to kill, only difference is how the weapon handles and the rate of fire. I'd say find a weapon that suits you and that you like and just keep playing with it. Personally I don't like the way the F2000 handles, and prefer the "vanilla" guns, the aek971 and the usas-12.
While this might be obvious for some people, successfully killing your enemy in BF3 will be mostly about who gets the drop on the other guy first, which is why positioning and playing things slow will net you more kills and win those 1v1 engagements. Think about it, how many times have you been in a defensive position, killing off people sprinting towards you? They don't even manage to get a shot off most of the times. Sprinting around corners will get you killed, it's a lot better to take a quick peek while ADS. There is usually no rush to sprint either since there isn't a game timer in this game, so take all the time you need.
What I'm trying to get across is that it's very easy to blame a gun and "balance" issues when one is just playing poorly. It's even worse in Starcraft 2, you'll see silver league players whining about this and that when they have bigger fundamental problems leading to their loss. If you actually fraps one of your games on an urban map, and then watch through it 2-3 times, it'll be quite clear why you are loosing some gun battles. This effect will be greater when there's only few people, like squad rush or squad tdm. I did this twice and it helped me a lot.
Also you should check this video out, hilarious!
Battlefield 3 Trolling dem Noobs - YouTube
EDIT: Here we go link to bullet damage. You can read through the pages and maybe learn something from the different posters.
Basically every assault rifle does 25 damage at close range (player has 100 health), and the G3A3 / SCAR-H did 30ish something.

At least we get a patch, but i guess the tactical flashlight nerf is part of a different patch, possibly included with the Back to Karkand maps.
-
Does it download automatically? Because I checked for new update this morning and it says its already up to date.
-
Today morning the patch was automatiaclly downloaded. Since the update, I can connect to any server, but all I see is black screen (I hear the sounds though). My friends, who own the game as well, came across the same issue, on different machines with different GPUs.
-
Same thoughts here. Looked for it lastnight.

The game began to update via Origin when I tried to join a server. 483.7 MB.

@philiphan That noob trolling vid was awesome lol. I need to record some of my stuff.
So on the video subject I was watching some of the whole "kid cries on xbox live" videos. Some of them are funny, but they get to a point where the humor is lost. I can see why kids are crazy these days. Some people are just plain ^&*3@s when it comes to bullying online. Some people just don't know when to stop and mute the other person.
Anyhow, I'd love to do some of that noob troling stuff, but I'm normally the one being trolled
-
Yeah they are many troll videos out there, but 90% of them consist of "xbox" and "kids". I wish I could make troll videos, too bad I don't know how fraps works, or how to edit videos.
-
You and me both I never really messed with Fraps. May check it out sometime.
I'd have recorded you being knifed back to back and loaded it up here
-
Pics or it didn't happen ^^
-
its realy easy just pre set what button should start what res and format you want it to record in and what folder then just have fraps running in the background like if you you where shecking your fps then during game hit the pre set rec button ones to start recording all the rest is done in the background automatic when you dont whant to record any more hit the same button again done then the file is in the pre set folder to do editing i have a free and easy prog havent used it for along time so cant remember the name will get back to you about that
here is the editing prog uploaded it for you
File name: VirtualDub-1.9.9.zip File size: 1.62 MB
whit this you can cut out frames add other vids direct at the frame you want it also cut out the sound track and add your own and also add text if you want
NICK IS Torment_78
Feel free to add me -
@torment
The best way to add people is to friend everyone on the BF3 friends list page. If you wait for everyone here to friend you, you will miss a lot people as 90% of them probably won't even read you post. But if you go to friends list and do it yourself you will get everyone.

See you out there. -
thanks m8 nice one
im going out there in a moment mostly running metro 64 to get to the point i was in the alpha and the beta quick bin away at work from release date to a couple of day a go could only logon and play singel player until latly -
Ever since the last patch my FPS increased by about 5-6 overall. Runs incredibly smooth now on a 6990M.
-
havent run it yet with the new patch but its coming in a min
-
The new patch is amazing performance wise, I got a nice noticeable boost so I might turn some settings higher. That being said, stuttering is nowhere to be seen running on my 260M so you all should be relieved. Just tried some single player and running at 30-60FPS at a mix of medium and high, also low 720+p resolution.
-
I said the same thing earlier and got flamed for it. I guess not enough people read the novel you posted.
-
I am the guy who runs arOund corners without looking (and gets killed as a result, many times by Philipian).
I need to change my play style.

any tips for a n00b on how to play with a mouse? i've had my first multi-player experience on the PC last night and got killed 11 times and could only destroy a vehicle with an RPG once! it was horrible. i've been playing BF:BC2 on the Xbox 360 for a year and am quite good at it, but i've never used a mouse before. thanks!
-
Well, this how I did it for BF3.
Unlock defibrillator on assault.
And purely run around with it. Once you get better reviving people on the run and under fire. Don't stop, just run, revive and run. You get pretty decent at spraying at people with the m4.

I'm just wowed on how I'm no longer rubberbanding anymore on a load balancing type network infrastructure. -
Try with your Xbox controller
My little godchild is damn wicked with it on PC
Comes in first like 3/5 times lol
-
The patch helped to fix the rubberbanding? That's great news!
-
Can't seem to connect to most servers after the patch, or stay connected. Getting dropped about every 3 minutes.
There's also this...
And they did not fix the most basic annoyance for me, the game still crashes on first daily launch (bf3.exe has stopped working). As expected, some things fixed, other things broken... -
I don't think they fixed the rubberbanding but they severely reduced them to the point I don't really notice them even on a network that 'purposely' induce them.
The loading time seem to reduce and my fps is a tad higher than before.
However, they borked the squad management now
... Almost everyone don't join squads in certain modes, which really sux especially when there's enough people to share squad perks.

i am using my Xbox 360 controller now, but i find it a bit slow when i need to react fast. with the mouse i can move my field of view much faster, but it's also harder to fine tune when i'm moving fast. right now, i'm using a hybrid controller+mouse, but it's not very efficient. i don't know...i'm alredy very comfortable with the controller anyway, so maybe i'll practice using it on the PC more. -
What do you mean on a network that "purposely" induce rubberbanding?
And yeah basically no squad auto join. Plus I don't see a way to join a squad even when you're in game. -
It is part of our wireless network design to allow normal wireless clients able to roam freely around campus and be entirely unaware they have been transitioned to different wireless access points as they move.
The algorithm is basically just tries rotate you around for the best least activity wireless point at random but small time intervals.
This will mess up on applications that demands critically time sensitive and in order data transition such as mainstream first person shooters game. -
Okay, 100C gpu temp. NOT GOOD AT ALL.
Is this the update causing this? My GPU barely hits 90c when I'm playing regularly and seeing the dramatic increase has got me speculating.
