Same here, but as long as I'm already shooting at my killer I don't seem completely frozen and have some aiming control even while being killed.

 

I just don't have fun playing BF3. It seems I almost always get frustrated and quit. It's more work and effort to play BF3 and do well that I am willing to put in.

 

As long as i play alone Battlefield 3 is kinda boring in the long run.
I usually do two runs on hardcore 1000 ticket servers then log off to play something else.
But if im playing with friends then its not as bad anymore.

Last match was with me, my kid bro xdanneboy, ViciousXUSMC, HTWingNut, Shobster and some more but i was too busy paying attention to the game.

The only way to have fun in BF3 is to work with your squad and use team work, but with the lack of in-game VOIP and the kind of people that frequent pubs, it's useless to even try.

 

For me, the only way to enjoy BF3 is when I can run it at ultra settings @ 1080p without any fps issues

Unfortunately there is no official channel for reporting servers, which is stupid. People kick and ban players for the dumbest reasons and there's no recourse.

 

i got first kickt then banned for being logged on from Poland after the kick i entered again just to see i the reason being that my ping was high since i was logged on a NZ server but my ping was about 100 and the only reason i got so pissed of was they say Players from Poland are not alowed on this server then kick/ban me if they would have sayed players from europa are not allowed no prob but specificly saying from Poland pissed me of and that i was having a great game dident do things better

 

Well then have fun trying to rack kills though the massive load of HDR Bloom. That kind of kills your sight against the enemy.

 

It's a shame I haven't recorded any BF3 prior to B2K, because I'm lacking solid proof that they've changed/messed up lock-on tones for pilots. When we were playing on gulf deagle, I got shot down by more javelins than I've ever been shot down in since playing, just in that one round. I've also been shot down by guided missiles and stingers quite a bit because I never get the incoming missile tone. If you don't know what I mean, there's 3 lock-on tones (defensive, the lower frequency ones) for pilots:

- beep-beep-beep-beep-beep means you are being tracked
- beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep means you are locked on but there is no missile in the air
- BEPBEPEBEPBEPEBEPBEPEBEP means there is a missile on your butt and you need to flare, dodge or die

Since the B2K patch I only ever hear the third and most important tone in dogfights, I never hear it for ground based missiles. Am I crazy or has this changed/been screwed up?

 

While I am firing at a choke point in hardcore mode, some of the allies just run infront of me, everyone dies and I am banned...I liked it before the patch where I can revive them to save the tickets.

 

Those instant lockon-fire are caused by laser designated weapons just fired.

Don't bother flaring those, just do your standard no flare evasion or use ecm to drop chaff if it gets way too annoying.

I believe that more people are unlocking soflam or citv and actually using it.
Heck I use the laser painter most of the time.

 

they definitely changed the effectiveness of the soflam for the better.

 

Usually there are more experienced players on the B2K maps than vanilla, and i usually see 3 to 4 SOFLAM users on a good 7 flag 64p server.
But on hardcore vehicles blow up faster so 1 or two hits with a missile and its a slam to the ground.

Now, I have Origin, Chrome, BF3 then Mumble for VOIP

 

I doubt you would see a large difference with Mumble on or off.
Its designed to be lightweight on both bandwidth and system resources.

I always prefer Mumble over other VOIP services.

 

Speaking of beep beep beep from hakira's post above... any word on when we'll get horns on the vehicles?

 

I want horns too. Come on already. Horns are a requirement. No reason for them to be omitted.

I see SOFLAM used, but every time I carry the Javelin it seems its never in use. And the Javelin is almost useless without it. Any tank in motion can pretty much evade it.

 

I'm pretty sure they fixed the Javelins missing tanks, or at least I haven't my Javelins missing. Are you sure they're not hitting a small object in between, or perhaps the Reactive Armor? I don't think you get a hit marker if you hit reactive armor not sure about that though.

 

You get a hit marker even against with reactive armor.

Also, in some vehicles, the reactive armor provide additional armor to a certain spot. It is not usually all around.
There is also a glitch that allows you stack vehicle specials as well, ie proxy sen + thermal vision + ecm jammer + reactive on a tank.

The javs miss on my end as well, if the target moves suddenly as you fire.

 

What do you mean by this, that the vehicle gets "more durability" in certain areas?

I don't know if this is intended or not, but just as you say, say the tank driver is running Reactive Armor, and the Gunner is using Proximity Scan, the Tank driver will benefit from the Proximity Scan as well.

Vehicle (MBT) Gadgets however do not "stack". If you're using for example Thermal Optics, I am 99% sure you won't get a "free" IR Smoke if your MG Gunner is having it equipped. I'm also pretty sure that the secondary gunner won't be able to deploy IR Smoke "for you" as well. I might be mistaken here though, pretty sure I'm not however.

MBT Weapons don't stack, but Proxy Scan + Thermal Camo are stackable. Again not sure if this is intended or not but still it's a nice combo to have Reactive Armor + Proximity Scan.

Are the targets laser painted in your case? Since the patch I've never had a single javelin miss for me, only hit obstacles in the way.

Edit: I think I might have had 1 or 2 Javelins miss non-designated targets.

 

Well, I couldn't get the IR smoke on a single life, yet.
With the new B2k maps, I think it is possible. I try it later.
These perks I mentioned above are activated on the driver side.

But I didn't know gunner can provide proxy sen if they are equipped.


I thought HT was talking about non designated targeting with javs.
I haven't missed with a laser designed one unless they are jets or helo.

 

Right, I was saying about non laser designated targets. Laser designated targets work quite well. Just need to bring out the Javelin more I guess. Actually when laser designated it's almost too good. I've seen Javelins fly some pretty funny flight paths, like impossible paths to reach their target. I've quickly pulled behind a large rock in a MBT only to see the javelin go past m and do a 180 right back and hit me. Pretty funny to see. Just not too happy with the outcome.

 

Did you know airborn heatseekers can reacquire new targets after being flared if someone was unlucky enough to fly into their path?

I gotten a few unintentional kills for that.

 

Just played in a server with a guy who went 83/5 and no he wasnt hacking. He was in the chopper tho....

Choppers can be a pain in the *** when a proper pilot gets a hold of it.
More than once have i seen a team lose because of n00bs getting to the chopper first. D;

 

I just cant seem to get into BF3 despite me loving BF2, BFBC2, BF2142 all very very much.

I feel like I cant kill anybody, graphics do not impress me at all, the unlock system is horrid when your new your like dirt just to be walked over by high level players.

The spawn map seems funny and too small for me to analyze it well.

Now with the expansion I cant join 99% of the servers not even our own NBR practice server.

I kind of like co-op but its not a lot of stages and its missing simple things like being able to type chat? I had a guy yesterday make me wait 15 minutes to get into the chopper on the first stage and I had no way to type "get to the f'n chopper!"

I absolutely 110% HATE the web based server system, its hard to navigate, it wont let me do half the things I want to do, its slow to use. I cant figure out simple things like how to leave a party, how to cancel joining a game once it started.

I may just drop BF3 and start to focus on Starcraft 2 again for my competitive gaming I tend to enjoy it much more. Match making puts you up against people your skill level, and nobody has any advantage just because they are a higher level unless they simply are of a higher skill than you and thats fine.

Oh and teams have an even number of players, that is always nice as well.

im not so good player i play with some guys that are better then me and we help each other out and voice does a big dif
and for the browser stuff i was having prob as well in the beginning starting to get a hang of it now just ask the guys here and they will help

I havn't had a chance to play BF3 in a few weeks and I miss it Maybe I'll get some time tonight.

 

We all had similar feelings at the start. It's a tough uphill climb. But once you get halfway decent it's not so bad. I'll make a point of trying to play with you Vicious. I'm not great, but I can survive, lol. I need to play more Rush maps though because I suck at those, and not sure why. Much different type of gameplay than Conquest.

And yes, built-in comms are horrible in this game. They really need to fix it.

It is nice that teams are more or less leveled with same number of players, but they really need to work on balancing based on rank. Rank doesn't mean everything, as you can rank up even if you just camp, but it usually means the player knows the maps, spawn points, weaknesses, etc. So many times I see one side most all Colonel or higher and the other side mostly less than Colonel. So the high ranked team dominates almost every time.

 

Yeah, the first Coop misssion was confusing the first time for me ... it took me 5 mins to get into the helo.
Never expected to waypoint behind you.

I don't play rush, but I know that you have to blow up the mcomm in a certain sequence. If you blow one up out of order, it would put you in a nasty situation on the other which you usually just lose.

I will play with you both. I am not the greatest either, but I do have my rounds.

 

On Conquest maps you can hold your own and cap flags lonewolfing it or with just a couple other guys. In Rush, your whole team needs to be coordinated in their attack, else you get nowhere. Frontal assaults are the hardest and most Rush maps only allow for those. Liberal use of a smoke and banzai charges are necessary.

 

More than once have i given up on scoring points so help the team out with ammo, health or spotting enemies.
It does pay off in the long run and i love getting a higher Win / Lose ratio.
K/D is already over 1, but it doesent really matter in a game like Battlefield 3.

 

Hmm. Gots a 5870 arriving soon to compliment my 5850 in my desktop that finally should let me crank up all my settings to ultra and still have a decent frame rate.

I really want to unlock the SOFLAM and MAV. Problem is I rarely play sniper and support.

 

Can somebody tell me why is this game so laggy? Everything is on low or off in the graphics settings and on 1280x800 it gives me max. 35 fps. In gunfights there are a lot of frame skipping and the framerate is below 20 sometimes. Why?

Try disabling Aero (right click bf3.exe > compatibility > disable desktop composition) and make sure there are no flash applets running in your browser while playing BF3 (YouTube, etc). Update your graphics drivers and make sure it's set to "maximum performance" if you play on battery.

 

There's nothing that is running in the background and I always on AC. I'll try the aero trick. Oh and the driver is up to date I think.

 

Make sure your power profile is set to maximum or high performance, sometimes the profiles get stuck on maximum battery mode even when on AC.

Turning off the aero and upgrade the graphics driver gave me 3fps. not so much. The game still stutters.

 

If you're playing on the laptop in your signature, then you probably won't get much better than that. That's pretty much the first generation of mobile quad-cores, and that 260m is the equivalent of a desktop 9800-series card, which is pretty outdated by now.

I just traded up from a (desktop) AMD quad-core to an i5-2500k and my old GTS 250 (re-branded 9800GTX+) to a GTX 580, and the difference is really night and day. I went from having similar performance as you're experiencing, to silky smooth frame rates with all settings maxed out.

 

I just wondering why only 30fps on the lowest possible settings. I don't want 300fps with everything maxed out just a fluid gameplay on the mentioned resolution. Last time I played the Beta and it was better.

 

It's just a very taxing game on both the CPU and graphics card. Your system is kind of on the bottom end of hardware that can run this game.

 

double check that you don't have any AA forced in the driver control panel

make sure both morphological AA and multisample AA in game is set to "off" and not "low"

 

Everything is set to low or off. on 1280x800 it runs about 30 fps with serious stuttering, at 1024x768 it shows 100+ fps but still have some stuttering... strange.
