That method does not work. It may work for one driver but not for all. Its very strange how nvidia does its drivers. Ive done those files as well as others. Ive tried many combinations as well as editing .inf files. The overclocking problem lies within the driver files themselves. Probably in hex code. This is why the only way you can overclock is to do a gpu bios flash with newer drivers. Please see my guide in earlier post in this forum for further info.

It worked for a couple of drivers on HardFreak's iFL90. Perhaps he was just lucky though.

I saw your guide. I keep getting BSODs when trying to read the bios.

The 163.71 works fine but again without overclocking.

Sounds good, thank you. I'll try this out immediately.

EDIT: I don't have a flash disk here that works with the HP tool. What settings in BIOS can I change? The voltage as well?

Hey bigspin, i wander if i can push my shader ratio to... say 2.2 of my core? Or perhaps 2.6?

Anyone got any idea how high core speed can my gpu handle with 58 celcius at idle.

it's not about the temps u're getting right now. everything depends on ur particular chip. install old drivers, do some overclock, find out ur specific clocks, and then flash the bios.

did u read the faq? dnload the modified inf and put it in the folder where u extracted the drivers!
p.s. don't install those, use the latest ones, either 163.44, .67., or.69. they've got the newer .71, but i'm not sure about those.

don't select anything, drag and drop the inf file to the folder u extracted ur drivers to. then go to my comp- device manager, click on the unknown device (ur video card) - then install drivers - advanced - specific place - then choose ur folder, should install hassle-free.
p.s. why not use the newer drivers?

Its this whole deal if you read the forums below about the modded inf not being right but then people saying the drivers themselves are not the right ones. THey are dealing with the issue for now. I am also done with team fortress download so wanted to get the new driver that fixes issues with that.

Edit: Nevermind just sli stuff I don't care about not gonna bother.

    Thanks V.

hmmm, if the it's the inf problem, then u can just use the inf from the previous version, say .69 or earlier. if it's the drivers, then just dnload the regular desktop ones from nvidia and copy/paste the moded inf.

i'd personally stick to 69's for now, that's what i'm currently using. :)

Yeah what I am using too. Hey I had a question is that whole diskeeper (some program) to remove everything really necessary? I don't even uninstall old drivers before installing new ones. Does it affect performance?

i really don't know whether it affects the performance or not, but it's always better to do a clean install, just to be sure. use driver cleaner, it's free. first, uninstall the old drivers from the control panel, then restart in the safe mode and open driver cleaner. u can also delete all the info about nvidia from registry by going in to regedit and looking for nvidia registry entries.

I re-installed the 163.69 and now PowerMizer doesn't work anymore and tere are error messages.
It's so confusing, suddenly the good drivers don't work anymore.

I recommend to ALWAYS use driver cleaner becasue I am getting huge problems now.

Can anyone tell me why PowerMizer doesn't work anymore with the same drivers that made it work before (163.69/156.07/156.54)?

EDIT: OK finally I made it work again by setting the Device ID to 040F (Quadro FX 1700) and installing unmodded driver 163.71! Now I'll leave it like this. I just wonder how QuadroFX drivers will affect my 3DMark score.......?!

    Hybrid Forceware 163.71 (09/17/2007)

These drivers are a combination of the WHQL Nvidia 163.71 drivers, and some manually modifications by myself.
NOTE: The newest driver as of today is 156.65 dated 09/23/07 but the performance is much worse (3dmark06 4261)
    therefore I went with these!

PERFORMANCE: These are the best performing drivers. I tested using 3DMark06, F.E.A.R., Oblivion, Far Cry, Medal of Honor Airborne, and Battlefield 2142. Not benchmarks but
actually game play with a keen eye. 3DMark06 score IMPROVED from the earlier 163.69 drivers (4328 to 4340!)

HDMI OVERSCAN: These, when used with the provided HDTV overscan instructions, offer the proper displaying of the desktop on HDTV via HDMI.
IMPORTANT: With this version I had to change the instructions!!! It was a PAIN but its done!

OVERCLOCKING: For overclocking, you will have to flash the bios of your gpu. This can be accomplished by using nibitor to modify the bios already
on the card and nvflash 5.40 to flash the new clock speeds. Dont forget to change the shader clock as well as the core and mem. Also, dont
forget to backup the bios before you flash. TEST the speeds before you flash by using your stock nvidia driver (101.17) on the driver disk along
    with ntune!

    PROBLEMS:

DVD OR DVD FILE VIDEO TEARING. No matter what driver I use, modified .inf, modifying the .inf, dna drivers, ngo drivers, copying certain files from
one version onto another, ANYTHING, I can not get the video tearing to go away when using clone mode with HDMI in WMP. It is a problem that must be
addressed at a video driver file level by Nvidia. Using these drivers there along with k-lite mega codec pack 3.4.5, there is no tearing with
Windows Media Player Classic and Media Center. If you want to use WMP with a dvd file with no tearing you will have to swap the displays so that
the HDTV is the primary display. I also tried every version from 1.35 to 3.4.5 of K-Lite codec pack. Trust me, these are the best you will get!

I contacted you by email about them since they do seem quite interesting but since they have no vista support I didnt try them.

Many people here are using vista as well so yea that could be why you dont get any feedback

Also there are numerous people who are just browsing the forum and may download your drivers without registering, hence no feedback, but I am sure you have helped many people out with these drivers and many people do use them.

If you make these drivers for personal use then posting them publically is no extra effort and someone may benefit from them, however if you make these for the public and youre not getting enough feedback then yea you can consider stopping.

swoley, thanx for the drivers, i personally haven't used them, just because you don't provide any in-game performance. i don't really care for 3dmark scores, cuz they don't mean jack crap to me :) we all appreciate ur efforts. good job!

Well, Ive always stated the games I test them out with. It already takes some time to get things ready to post them up in the forum so I dont do any in game screenshots. IF I get some feedback I will keep making them but I will probably stop listing the games I test them out with because every driver ive made has given improvement.

Im using the 163.71's from laptops2go for x64 vista and theyre working fine so far.

Previously i had the 158.xx drivers, these new ones deal with older applications better, red alert 2 and starcraft are no longer stretched to fit the screen, they run at their native resolutions with black bits at the side. Also havent had any bluescreens yet, seems stable.
