Official prices revealed
The GTX 980 carries an MSRP of $549, while the GTX 970 will go across the counter for $329. This bumps the GTX 760 down to $219.
The GTX 970 has an even lower TDP, coming in at just 145 W
HDMI 2.0 port is particularly interesting, as it is the first implementation of HDMI 2.0 on a display source and capable of driving a 4K resolution at 60 Hz, rather than the measly 30 Hz that HDMI 1.4 managed.

Wow, Jen-Hsun Huang is just not a showman what-so-ever... I feel like he is going to give me a surprise quiz afterwards. Where is the chase, and how can we cut to it?

Hope the 980M is cheaper, too. Would be awesome.

Prices will remain the same across the board I'll bet regardless of the desktop counterpart pricing.ericc191 likes this. -

I'll bet the pricing won't reflect that even though of course I wish it would.
I am always realistic when it comes to notebook GPU price gouging every year
The real problem Is and always will be these high end parts never make it into mainstream notebooks to sell enough to drive the price down far enough.
People flock to the low end and now middle end stuff which by the way is becoming very powerful in its own right.ericc191 likes this. -

Its not just about grass, the same techniques are almost exactly usable for things like hair, fur, carpet fibers, velvet, etc...
-
Why is he even wasting time on moon landing when every scientific person already knows it was fake
He wont address the big keys and will only address the trivial small questionable things as usual lol
moon landing happened once many decades and never repeated again for a reason, the master tape by nvidia for moon landing was even lost lmao their reason was "we recorded over the master tape" same with pictures/etc they destroyed almost everything to proof that they landed lol
USA just wanted to brag we did it first before the russians basically -

Well, nothing really new out of that presentation other than "Yes, this confirms the rumors/leaks the past few weeks."

I'm bummed there was no mention of any of the mobile GPU's. Well unless I missed it at the beginning, but I don't think so.

Where's the mobile 980m stuff?

Lol since they didn't mention 9xxM series , it gonna be around $800

I'm officially mostly unimpressed with this thing. I mean, as much as maxwell is an improvement, and as nice as it is, the fact is that they have cards in the power class of the kepler flagships that've been already out, and the improvements like MFAA and stuff probably won't work too well in already-existing games, which means it'll need to be implemented in new games that aren't out yet. The downsampling thing is nice though and I could see that being an improvement, but for all we know that's gonna work for kepler too LOL. Can't see why a downsample tactic would be architecture based. GeDoSaTo for Dark Souls 2 proves it doesn't need to be.
I think the mobile market are the real winners here, with the 980M being so much stronger than the 780/880Ms... as well as probably cooler & drawing less power. But even so, we could have had a full GM204 chip and nVidia didn't so they could rebrand later & resell (or maybe so mobile cards didn't have a comparable card to a desktop's flagship until GM200/GM210 comes out). But hey, at least they're improving on stuff =D.
Man, I deflated my own hype. I am a sad individual. Cloudfire would not be proud. XD.ericc191 likes this. -

They have to give you a reason to upgrade every year whether you like it or not.. And yes so many things take years to play catch up in new titles so you think you are somehow future proofing when you buy this new tech but in reality you are not because you will end up upgrading again by the time that new tech becomes relevant.
Ugg technology......
They have us strung up by the short hairs. -
half the power consumption (= much less noise/heat)
HDMI 2:0 4K 60HZ DP1.3
NEW AA method that is better and use less power
much better bandwidth management
New enhanced Supersampling method with extra filters and all that work with all games
Some stuff about being optimized for Directx12
Enhanced for VR if its your thing
Direct3D 11.3
HEVC (H.265) hardware encoding
Not a tiny improvement its a generation jump features wiseericc191 likes this. -

A very relevant EVGA GTX 970 FTW review !
Matches and even slightly beats 780 Ti in most games/benchmarks (except Tomb Raider) even at 4K! Can still overclock without overvolting and just edges out a reference 980! Holy farting Batman! -
9000 Engineers and 3 years of work? I'm so glad i returned my laptop.
Now I just need to buy a new one.
I hope they announce the 980m.
He is coming back on right? -
one of the Mobile Slides shows
Asus G751, MSI GT72, Clevo P150 having 980m (no surprises)
MSI GS60 970m
Aorus x7 970m SLI (Nice to see a refresh coming out right away probably) -
If most of the features were implemented and used right now, that'd be great. But DX12 is not out yet. DX 11.2 isn't out, far less 11.3 (at least to my knowledge). VR implementation, cool, though I don't have an occulus rift, unfortunately. H.265 encoding is gonna be nice, I won't lie, but I'll need to re-render in h.264 for uploading purposes (as far as I know). The AA method is not as impressive to me as SMAA exists, and would be better to put into a game natively than using MFAA (and has less of a performance hit still) and there is no evidence to suggest that MFAA will be force-able in pre-existing titles. Some games let you, some games don't. BF4 and BF3 are two games that don't let you force/enhance/override AA for example. Killing Floor lets me.
In other words, right now, the only real advantages are for Occulus Rift, HDMI 2.0 & DP1.3 (which you probably won't find a monitor using for a while) and less power consumption. And while those are great, it's not really a... reason... to jump up and upgrade.
I'm being a bit pessimistic, but I can't bring myself to jump around going "wooo nVidia is the best!". I know there's an improvement, but for desktop world I think they should have launched with GM200 as the flagship -

Just grab EVGA's GTX 970 FTW if you want 780 Ti performance for cheap.
Also, TechPowerup has a very nice and detailed review on GTX 970 SLI performance. Scaling gets better at higher resolutions, and at 4K approaches 100% for most of the games tested. WOW -

lol its simple anyway you look at it maxwell is far superior to Kepler even at the same lithography node. also I don't consider the 980 as the flagship since its not the gm200 therefore.

with gtx 970 matching r9 290x head to head and more OC potential, I think AMD is completely screwed this time. unless they are willing to drop r9 290x to like $300 or else... and even then they are still taking a loss...
