PC gamers should avoid enabling “Cache Sun Shadow Maps” and “Cache Spot Shadow Maps”. Enabling them will fill up your VRAM and most of the game’s textures won’t be loaded, resulting in atrocious visuals¸Thats from a source on internet. That could be helpful for 2gb and 3GB cards especially
I think nvidia will release today or tommorow the new game ready driver for cod so the performance will be slightly better.

Won't be a problem for me =D =D =D (and people told me 4GB vRAM cards was way overkill when I said I wanted them back in 2013)
-
In 2013 there was no need for more than 2GB really. It's only in the last 3-4 months that these games have launched that have ridiculous vRAM requirements for no good reason. But alas, as ridiculous as it may be, it's still a requirement so at this point in time might as well go big.
-
At least the option to turn off the caching is there if you have less VRAM. I'm fine with the occasional stutter during streaming if it means my VRAM isn't maxed out the entire time, causing more overall stuttering.
This is a good port. Good performance and graphics and lots of options. I'm pleasantly surprised. -
that's true for the most part. I don't remember the reason that made me want 4GB so bad... I think it was more because I wanted to have "more if possible" knowing that things would get more demanding in the future. Needless to say I'm glad it worked out that way. Maybe it was Skyrim using over 2GB, Arma 2 using a lot of vRAM if you let it and probably the fact that 2GB was "standard" made me feel like it'd be too little with new consoles? I can't remember my reasoning at all.
-
Your reasoning was no reasoning at all because the fastest card at the time, 780M, was only available with 4GB.
-
Actually, when I was saving up the 680Ms were the fastest card out. I wanted 4GB 680Ms. Just in the month I had the money (late august) the 780M/Haswell refreshes came out (early august). If I lived in the US and bought from Sager instead of Mythlogic, I'd have been one of the first owners (in august) of those new clevos. Instead I got it near the end of september.
-
And 680M's were only available in 4GB as well.
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Lol
At least they didn't go with the mash option. The quicker and harder you mash F, the better respects you pay.moviemarketing likes this. -
so what is the fps benchmark for COD Advanced Warfare on a 980M on max settings ?
-
No, there were 2GB 680Ms. I know for sure the Dell cards had 2GB models. I don't know if Clevos were 4GB only.

Wut! You're telling me Wikipedia lies? No way!

Is multiplayer P2P only or will there be dedicated servers as well?
-
Everyone who is currently playing has said P2P is the only thing they've found. No idea if dedis will be up and running after official launch day (which is tomorrow) or if they'll be patched in later, but I'm expecting to have constant 2-bar games as I get a bunch of west-coast USA users being host. Or maybe it'll throw me into Europe, because nobody knows where the caribbean is apparently.
-
Welp, no dedicated servers means no buy for me. I don't know how anyone can stand the delay/rubberbanding and host migration crap.
-
why do you complain. why dont you make a game then
-
LOL, forgot how much of a troll you are. Now the name rings a bell.MrDJ likes this.
-
Let's see. CoD 1, CoD 2, CoD 4, CoD W@W (5), CoD Black Ops (7), CoD Black Ops 2 (9) all had dedicated servers on PC... seems Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer are the ones not providing. It's a justifiable complaint, especially with the low playercounts PC has mainly due to years of being shafted by anybody who is not Treyarch in pretty much ALL activision games. And believe me, I own all the activision games on steam. I know.
-
No dedicated servers for a game of this scope is a weird failure (I don't wanna say epic, because it is so obvious
). Though the graphics finally look good, after a loooooong while
I hope they will have an ok single player!
-
It's pointless. The people who would use that as a make-or-break to buy have yet to buy it (like Octiceps). The people who would buy it, complain, play it anyway, complain, etc, have already bought it. They gave their money; didn't wait, didn't care to wait, whatever. Still a sale.
The 1% or so of people who wouldn't buy the game cuz no dedi servers don't equate to the amount of money they save by avoiding use of dedi servers for the next 3+ years. -
I wouldn't give these idiots a penny if they think dedicated servers are "pointless" and not a necessity. P2P is an unplayable experience.
Does this guy think he's funny?
GEEZUS00 comments on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare AMA with @SHGames founders Michael Condrey and Glen Schofield is now live! -
But I mean dedicated servers tend to add to the longevity of the game (less frustration, less congestion), and I would guess it would be a fraction of the production cost (especially for COD:AW, I don't know how much it would cost, but say around 50m ballpark, maybe? They could operate a bloody cluster for like 1m for a year, forget about servers
)
-
Lag and a massively unfair advantage for the host are the reasons I absolutely loathe P2P. There's a reason my KDR in BF3 is 3x my KDR in MW3, and I was playing them at the same time so it's not a matter of skill. If anything, skill ceiling in MW3 is much lower and I could top scoreboards as long as my connection was good or I was the host. If it was bad, which was the majority of the time, I could empty entire clips into enemies at point blank range without registering and players or myself would be jerking around the map.
-
OH MY GRAVYFUL LORDSAUCE OF THE TOADS IF YOU KEEP A POLLING RATE ABOVE 125Hz THEN THE GAME HAS A CHANCE TO ACTUALLY BREAK SENSITIVITY ENTIRELY.
I don't. Even. Understand. What. I turn the graphics to max, the game looks like literal poo. I turn DOWN some settings and turn off the caching, the game looks 10x better. I don't get it. I don't. What is this game. What is this game anymore? -
Didn't you read Dmitri's post? If you turn on caching of sun and spot shadow maps, it makes the textures look like poo due to delayed streaming. Gotta turn them off.
-
Yeah... "high" or "ultra" settings though, no matter what I do, 4GB constant vRAM usage. Also doesn't fix the "I need to use 125Hz polling rate on my mouse so my aiming actually works" problem either.
I literally see no difference in discernible FPS playing high or ultra... on the plus side, only rarely does one drop below 60fps on a stock 780M. No SLI yet; was thinking about forcing BO2 bits on it. -
Apparently that doesn't work but Force AFR2 does.
-
I'll try forcing AFR2 and 1x SMAA then. Unless TXAA randomly shows up. Game looks... okay. It's not great, it's a little better than BO2, but it's nowhere near something like... BF4 on low.
-
Don't think this game has TXAA, at least not yet. TB's video showed only FXAA, SMAA 1x & T2x (and w/film grain), and SSAA 2x-16x. Maybe they'll add TXAA and some PhysX and other effects after release. But this isn't a GameWorks title (which I consider a good thing), so maybe not.
Let's see if Nvidia is on top of its game and releases a Game Ready driver with an SLI profile this week. -
Yeah no TXAA... Also I can turn on SMAA T2x with SLI on. OKAY GAME. (I haven't tried in case it BSOD's me or some crap). Game has serious stutter issues; randomly drop to like 15fps for 1/4 second sometimes. Throws you off a lot. SOMETIMES the connection is good and I play like I'm in BO2 on 100 ping, sometimes it feels like I'm on 300 ping. Did I mention no ping numbers? Only bars.

I'm probably the worst person to judge a COD game as I've never played any of them before, but this video looks pretty amazing at 1080p/60fps

so far so good.
had about 10 games now and no lag or glitches. me have to limit gameplay as blind in one eye and strain creeps up on my good eye quickly.
playing on default settings and im well happy with the graphics quality without upping everything. who needs 90+ fraps when it looks good on default. i will start upping things just to see how far i can push my 680 later though
already 100% better than ghosts multiplayer.
the amount of wingers that have maxed it out and then scream on the steam forum that its a crap game due to screen tear, lag blah blah blah. -
Well I don't get screen tear because 120Hz obviously, but the game has random framedrops indeed. It could be network related; I don't know, but others were complaining of weird things.
Also, it appears that the game's netcode seems to switch between godlike and poo. Sometimes I do really well, others I do awfully; multiple times shooting 10+ bullets into one person without so much as a hitmarker before they kill me or someone kills them and then me from behind.
The game is broken in many ways, but I'm someone who does a LOT of checking and testing and defaults are never something I use, so more things pop up for me. I can see a casual match or two not bothering someone, so I understand what you think. But the game is far from being in a good state.
It is VERY fun though. I even got a nice double-kill air stomp on recording. Was wonderful =D -
I gave up CoD after number 3.... it's becoming a joke, just as Battlefield... my god
EDIT: Look what I found

Nvidia Game Ready Driver especially for Advanced Warfare
WHQL 344.60 released 4th November

Will definitely be giving this a whirl and see how it works. Maybe it'll work better than forcing AFR2.
-
I wonder when will AMD fix their driver. Still can not play the game on dedicated graphics.
-
ThePerfectStorm Notebook Deity
Game is huge fun, but not the best graphically.
-
^^ Gameplay > graphics anyways
Looks like the reviews are pretty positive and everybody liked the new direction!
-
Uh, that is Kevin Spacey. He did a tonne of work for the game. It's not just a cameo.
Also, I had a fun glitch yesterday where the game would swap out my primary and secondary weapons at random. It was maddening. I would get to fire a few shots off before the game would cycle to my other slot. No idea why. At least, I hope it's the game and not my mouse. Although I've had no other problems with that ever. -
latest game ready driver is giving me lag for the first time.
im rollin back. -
I haven't gotten any better performance than forcing AFR2, but I haven't gotten any worse performance either.
-
out of the 10 games ive had i had no lag whatsoever and was getting on average 10-14 kills each game.
today after the update i was lucky if i got 2 kills.
rolled back to 340.52
time to try again and fingers crossed. -
I'm inclined to say it was network, because I have VERY differing games and lots of problems. Sometimes it works great, sometimes it's all I can do to be barely positive. I don't know what it was like playing on your machine though. All I know is, 344.48 forcing AFR2 in NCP versus 344.60 as far as AW gameplay goes? There is no real difference. If I nitpick, the newer driver is slightly worse, but I very well could be seeing placebo.
-
will give the rollback a try for a while and see if it still lags. if so its servers i hope.
2 post on steam saying servers down. time to find out.
edit
all hunky dorey again
-
I posted this in the Alienware Gaming Video thread, but it's fitting here for COD:AW. I will quote it for anyone interested. I don't do online multi-player games, but I'm really loving the COD: Advanced Warfare campaign. The new 344.60 WHQL driver enables SLI using AFR1, whereas 344.48 WHQL was better with AFR2.
