COD BO3 Back in Black Discussion Thread

Well if their QA testers gamed on a rig with 16GB ram and a Titan X then they wouldn't catch any of that. And you know what, I actually wouldn't be surprised if that actually did happen.

 

There's people with 32GB of RAM and two Titan X cards who are complaining, so... =D.

Or how about paying full price for half a game. Last-gen doesn't even get campaign. Now that's getting shafted.

They pay $10 less and get Black Ops 1 with it, actually. So they aren't actually paying full price. I have to give them that one.

BUT they should not have bothered making it for last gen if it was going to look like that. CoD: Ghosts and BO2 on last gen look better than BO3 in every respect, so there's no excuse other than "well it isn't the primary platform, so we didn't optimize it like we used to".

 

I was tempted to get BO3 because of the campaign. I rarely play CoD multiplayer, but their campaigns are always fun. This time though will have to wait if it's technical issues holding back even top end gear.

@D2 Ultima - Are those screen shots real with the comparo of XB360 and XB1? Seriously? That is like 1995 level graphics.

 

Yeah, the campaign is going fun for me. But I'll be honest, if I had paid $140 for this game (digital deluxe + season pass) I would not be nearly so civil with these devs. I think I'm really not meant to pay for things. You give them to me and I help you out and give you feedback and make your things be the best things the world has ever seen or something.

Yes, those are actual comparisons. It's what I keep saying all the time: the only reason last gen stuff looked and worked as well as they did was because last gen was the primary target. The SECOND they don't have to nitpick for it, any content created for it becomes impossible to run, and PC starts needing more and more power for nothing. BF3 looked better than BF4 on last-gen systems because BF4 was designed on console for current-gen. Simple.

 

the fps in SP is the only issue for me...quite annoying.

even though the vid is in Russian the fps drops in the same spots for me.

 

I did reply to you on reddit that FPS tanks when you can see yourself in cutscenes though.

 

Advanced Warfare is the only call of duty game I've ever tried.

I liked the bionic jumping thing, and overall it was a lot of fun, but the lobby/hosting system didn't seem to work properly. You would wait in the lobby for a game to start for as long as 10 minutes and then it would time out and you have to find a matchmaking server all over again.

Any improvements for this game?

no issues for me so far on 3 year old clevo with below spec.

can only play upto 3 rounds a day due to being blind in one eye and too much of a strain on the other but the only 1 issue i had was it kept starting with intel graphics instead of 680 which isnt a biggy as just changed in nvidia control panel. now starts with dedicated.

ive only played 1 multi map so far and much prefer nuketown, still getting my a$$ wooped but its a nice updated map.

campaign ive only played about 30 minutes so far but no issues like AW with voice out of sync, 10 minutes between each level.

no idea what my temps are like as im scared to look as reports say it eats cpu and gpu

 

Based on that video, granted I didn't watch the whole thing, it looked very playable. FPS did drop, but still well above 30FPS. Not saying it doesn't need optimization but it doesn't look that horrible unless I'm missing something?

And lol @ 1:25 in the video. The dude walks in and stands right next to the supposed enemy and enemy does nothing (neither does player) , and the other dude just comes in and stabs him.

 

People are thinking there's a vram leak or a RAM leak somewhere and high cpu usage.

No vRAM leak on my end. But many many people with 970s have issues. I'm laughing at all of them that said the 970 was a great card and caused no problems. I don't care that they're having problems. I'm very mean about that.

RAM leak... I don't know. Maybe. High CPU usage definitely. The game constantly sets itself back to "low" process priority class apparently.

 

I never had any issues with that in AW, or any other CoD really. It may be your internet connection.

 

Really? Internet speed is about average, 70 Mbps. Some NBR members mentioned everyone else on Steam was also experiencing the same issue, but it seems to have only been a problem for players within the US.

Otherwise it was a fun game and scaled down to run well on my rather antiquated laptop. I'd probably have purchased this one if not for the server/lobby/hosting problems.

 

Honestly, I'm pretty sure with Steam's newer/newest refund policy, you can buy it, see if it will work for you and if not then return it for a full refund. I am not 100% sure about this, maybe some other users can chime in about this.

 

As long as you buy it directly from steam, and have less than two hours of play time you can get your money back.

I mean you are talking 7800 GTX 110nm and Athlon 64 90nm vs GTX 650 28nm and Athlon II x4 45nm level of performance. Pretty significant.

 

$42.99 on Green Man Gaming. Unfortunately the current 20% off voucher doesn't work on this title.

 

Matters not sir, BO2 looked better. They just didn't bother to work on it enough for last gen.

True. It's about time to give up the ghost on the Xbox 360 and PS3, at least for new AAA titles. I don't think I can part with my Xbox 360 for a while because my kids play it constantly. They're getting a PS3 for their birthday soon too, because there's a bunch of games they want on that. Too many damn consoles now. Just need one massively powerful one that has backwards compatibility with everything.

 

PLEASE NO. It will be made by BGAtel and nVidrosoft with a Macro$haft OS and have planned obsolescence every year and each update will make it run worse and it'll cost 3x as much as it needs to and it'll spy on everything you ever say or do in front of the console on or off with a special, passively-powered microphone and tiny webcam in order to sell you more things you don't want or need

 

Saw somewhere that 91% of BO3 sales in the UK were on 8th gen consoles. The 360 was about 5%, the PS3 at 3%, and the rest on PC. These figures only took physical media sales into account so the total for PC is likely much higher.

Eh, I'll enjoy the odd Pewdiepie video. Jokes are quick and stupid, and his stuff is more cut down and to-the-point as far as humor goes compared to most other let's players. I can't help but crack a smile at something as conceptually stupid as this.

Or maybe it's just cause I like the deep-seeded sense of irony and sarcasm that he approaches most stuff with.

 

Got into a zombie lobby earlier today with a buddy and randomly @Mr. Fox was in there. As per the usual I lost my connection shortly after the map trying to load. Yay.

 

Didn't know Mr.Fox played zombies, I thought he was mainly a campaign kind of person.

You don't understand my desire to both upgrade this like crazy and keep a 4.3GHz 4930MX + two 980Ms and at the same time not upgrade it, sell it, buy P870DM with two 980s + 6700K, buy 120Hz panel, somehow make it work with P870DM, use i7-6700K @ 4.6GHz 24/7 + 2 x GTX 980 @ ~1300MHz core 24/7 with 120Hz panel.

I'm not a big Pewdiepie supporter either, but have watched videos now and again and he's actually not that bad. A bit raw and unnecessary swearing half the time, but he does get to the point. Sometimes you need someone like him to make a point to developers. The video is only two and a half minutes long, and basically a big middle finger to Activision. Worthwhile, lol.
