I'm wondering how well my Asus G51VX-X3A can run Shattered Horizon.
it's a Duo P8700 2.53 Ghz, 4GB DDR, Geforce GTX 260M. -
is a alienware m15x worth it to get
-
I see. Thanks for telling me, I had no idea about that. It'd seem, that both notebooks have a 1366 x 768 native resolution.
-
Not exactly the place to ask; this place is to ask if a rig will run a given game. If you're questioning a purchase or the value of a lapotp, try the "What Notebook Should I Buy?" subforum.
TO answer your previous question, the rig you asked will run Empire Total War without problem. -

How sure are you of this? The graphics requirements are a 7950 or x1800, doesn't the 7950 outperform my 8600m GT? -

Thanks... I have tested and ran all the games except Arma II , crysis , crysis warhead, GTA IV ... and every game ran in mid to mid-high level @1024*768 & 1280*800 (without anti aliasing)... I am very pleased with my laptop.. ;-) -

Yes you'll be able to play at native with med-high settings; skip the AA though.
-
Even thoug SH is a pretty demanding game, that GPU is among the best so you'll have no problems. Ah, considering your resolution, you might have play at medium settings.
Then the one with ATI is surely better.
Yes it does, but that doesn'z mean that you won't be able to play it. You'll have to lower the res maybe or lower some settings, turn off AA and shadows...
You can play Crysis at 25fps and max settings. And all the rest as well.
Barely, at low everything. -

How big of an FPS difference would there be in modern games on a sager np8690 between a 1920x1080 and 1600x900 res?
Is it enough to justify the quality difference? -
WoW should be fine on maxed out settings and Crysis on high-max settings
There will be a noticeable difference in the FPS but i dont think the quality will differ that much -
What about dragon age: origins?

Can I run crysis or oblivion/fallout 3 at all? If so on what settings, sorry to be so vague. Just got my studio 14z and don't want to risk destroying it without knowing. I know the card is integrated. -
Not Crysis.
Oblivion and FO maybe on very low. -
Crysis wouldn't run but Warhead might run at 800*600 with everything on lowest. I say this because a guy with an ATI HD3200(which is less powerful than the 9400M) got Warhead running at those settings with a semi-smooth gameplay.
-
Possible purchase:
Intel Core Duo 2 P8700 (2.53GHz)
4GB DDR3 1066
NVIDIA GeForce GT230M
What settings can I play burnout paradise at? How about Freespace 2?
On my desktop (4 GB DDR2, low end core 2 duo (wolfdale), 9800GT) I can run it maxed out (except for sssd or whatever the setting is called). -
Nevertheless, I would opt for a higher resolution. If that is what your thinking about.
Desktop 9800GT is about double the power of 230M, so depending on the res you will play, you will probably ahve to lower some settings, like AA and shadows. -

I'm feeling a certain amount of Titan Quest hunger. Since on my current Asus it ran abysmally (yey Radeon HD2600 with modded drivers!), I will, however, be getting a new notebook, possibly even slightly better than my current one. So my question is, how will the following games run on :
Acer Aspire 5738ZG
Pentium Dual Core T4300 @ 2,1 ghz
3 gb DDR2 800 ram
Radeon 4570 512 mb DDR3
1366 x 768 display
Windows 7 64bit
Titan Quest : Immortal Throne
Assassin's Creed 1
Gears of War 1
Oh, and if possible, how would they run on (my second option) :
Amilo Pi 3560
Dual Core T4300 @ 2,1 ghz
4 GB DDR2 800
GeForce GT 240M 1 GB DDR3
1366 x 768 display
Win7
Edit : The Acer's the more likely choice due to its lower price, so the preferred answers would be about it, thank you

That's strange the HD2600 runs fairly close to the 8600M GT, which as I recall, could run Titan's Quest relatively okay.
The GT240M is a fair bit more powerful than the 4570. -
You should run them fine with lowered settings. But dont think of playing games like Crysis, integrated cards arnt for gaming but that card's fine for older games.
Yes you will run it fine on med-high setttings but im guessing all high settings
you will have to stay away from AA though.
you r kidding me right? and sorry about the multiple posts guys

Just tested them out with the crysis demo and installed obvlivion. Runs all settings @high 1280x with some at max and the quarl texture pack 3 installed beautifully. Crysis runs near perfect with some settings on very high and the rest on medium 1280x so.. uh, I think you guys underestimate igp's or something.. maybe it's the ram idk lol. -

Will it support Starcraft II? Does it support Bioshock (I haven't buy my notebook yet)? -
Yes.
Yes.
I'd say 1280*720 medium/low in both. -
Yes it will run.
You will either have to run at a lower resolution if you want a slightly more detailed game (medium, low).
or,
Run at your native 1600*900 mostly low. -
I haven't bought my laptop either, but I'm ordering soon-- I am going to buy the "Valve Complete Pack" off of Steam, or at least I would like to. Would machine a with these specs run Left 4 Dead 2
D ), Team Fortress 2, etc.? :
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor P8700 (2.53GHz, 3MB L2, 1066MHz FSB)
Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit
4GB DDR2 800MHz SDRAM (2048MBx2)
18.4" Diagonal Widescreen HD (1680x945) TruBrite® display
NVIDIA® GeForce® G 210M discrete graphics with 512MB DDR3 dedicated memory
320GB HDD (5400rpm, Serial-ATA)
--------
So, would I be able to run those games, like, on high settings? The laptop (Toshiba Satellite P500-ST6822) is also available with
"NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 230M discrete graphics with 1GB DDR3 dedicated memory"
Should I go for that instead? Will it make a difference?
This is my first real computer, so I'm somewhat of a noob.. :/ Help? -
Hope this post doesn't get me in trouble, I feel alot of these opinions on if something can run a certain game are very flawed tbh. Considering I was told I could barely run oblivion yet it runs perfect all settings nearly maxed..... & crysis as well. Best way to learn if you can run a game or not is yougamers system check or try it for yourself
If I said something offensive forgive me, it's just difficult to judge a systems capabilities overall.
@above poster, definitely since my studio 14z eats those games@ it's max resolution lol. If you want a long term solution though, go with the 230. -
Out of curiosity, what do you consider running perfect? What FPS @ 1280 x 768?
It's actually quite strange that you're running Crysis decently, but it could be a matter of perception as well. Was this stock Crysis or was it modded/patched in any form? Last I checked, even the 8600M GT could barely run it and many found it unplayable.
You do realize that installing and running a texture package on a game and asking other users for their opinions on whether your card will run the stock game are quite different right? For example, depending on which version of QTP3, it could be more or less taxing on your system as the original game.
You do make a valid point. Your two games are definitely quite strange, and I'm curious as to what exact settings you are running the games on. -
W00t, I'm glad it'll be able to run well, or at least should. And you have a point, there probably isn't a better solution than actually running it yourself... But, I'm also interested to know what settings you were on exactly... from what I've heard (which isn't a lot) that shouldn't be the case. Also, I don't think anyone was offended by that, so no worries lol.
-
Crysis is running medium most settings except one, 40fps constant regardless of onscreen action. Oblivion, 45 fps in towns, 50 fps indoors, 30 fps roaming countryside. I attribute it to the ddr3 ram most likely, it really makes a difference. Basically gameplay seems smoother then it did on my old desktop which was a 9800 gtx+.. *shrug* , any other questions on it i'd be glad to answer. THe best thing is it doesn't even run hot. Example image I windowed up for you:
-
what does AA stand for?
-
Anti-Aliasing. Keep looking for your dream machine capable of playing Empire but do more research.

meaning what?

Hey, I was wondering at what settings I would be able to play Starcraft II. Thanks in advance!

Ohh man, that won't be good.. idk if it would run at all. Even the ram isn't a good enough fallback for the major lack in gpu power.
-
My post got a bit buried.
Any body familiar with these games? -
Freespace 2 the space sim? If yes, then you should be able to max everything without trouble.
I wish the franchise was continued. I had a lot of fun with it... *nostalgic*
Hope it helps
-
That is extremely strange. And very intriguing indeed. Are you not also curious that a game which seems to be giving trouble to your 9800 GTX+ is doing better on what is little better than an IGP? I would be very intrigued in your case. Also, what resolution are you running it on?
DDR3 RAM? How would it help? DDR3 RAM and DDR2 RAM currently offer around the same performance due to the higher latency on DDR3 RAM, last I checked. -
I run it 1366x768 @ both games, Crysis shaders: very high , post processing: high , textures : high. everything else medium gives a turnaround of 25-30fps. gonna try out Warhead tomorrow night, store has good deal on it (14$ xD!) As far as my mention of ddr3 ram, the x64 windows 7 OS and ddr3 are both a step above my desktop which was bottle necked with a entry grade Phenom black edition quad core and ddr2 x2gig 1066 ram. Very little chop or stutter is noticable in Oblivion, mostly it occurs during high rendering activity such as outside riding around on a horse. Main break of that rule is in example shot, the imperial city just sends the fps into the gutter for some reason, possibly due to the large number of mods installed into that area ( better cities, imperial city alive..ect) Crysis, none at all unless a large explosion goes off (like a truck blowing up) I've read alot on the igp 9400m (G) and if this is any indication it's a highly underated card I think.
Edit: Note of curiousity, does anyone else have this card?? lol I just dl'ed the DIRT 2 demo, runs all settings maxed, 4 samples of AA 33fps@ 1366x768. Even i'm suprised, not sure if this is the section to post that though.. -
If you haven't already, reading through the numerous stickied threads in this forum would be a great help to your search instead of asking questions which could be easily answered just by taking a few minutes to read the information on offer.
If you've read the threads and are not sure of what some things mean, by all means ask some more.
You might want to fill in that FAQ on what notebook to buy in the appropriate forum if you're still stuck. -
