All right, thanks for the help. Actually this is pretty reassuring!

Hello!
I have pretty old Fujitsu Siemens Amilo D8830 but it works perfect. Now Im asking that can it run Battlefield Vietnam? Specs are: Intel Pentium 4 2.66GhZ, Ati Mobility Radeon 9000(64mb video RAM), 512RAM, 60GB, Windows XP SP3/ Linux Ubuntu 9.10.
Thanks.

Hi,
This is probably a long shot but would i be able to run Mass Effect 2 on this?
Vaio Z590
VC: 9300M GS 256M Ram
Processor: Core 2 duo 8400 @ 2.26ghz
Ram: 4gigs
Resolution: 1600 X 900
I don't mind lowest settings as long as frame rates are decent.
The min requirements state that my card is below minimum requirements, but some people claim they run Mass Effect 1 on similar setups.
thanks!
UPDATE:
So i took a leap of faith and bought ME2. Only about 2 hours in.
Frame rates get pretty bad at 1280x768, which is the minimum setting for wide full screen mode.
So far it's still playable, though barely, and looks great even with all graphics settings set to off.
Quickly changing to 800x600 helps a lot, which is what i do in areas where frame rates get really bad. -
I'm buying that laptop, and have very similar concerns. I've been scouring the Internet looking for detailed benchmarks and experiences for weeks now!
Here's what I found:
FO3: Anandtech's benchmarks for the UL80VT say that it can play FO3 on high settings with 2xAA enabled, which is a pleasant surprise.
Batman: Arkham Asylum: Smooth on high, almost maxed out. See the above Anandtech link.
Bioshock: I'm not looking to play , so I didn't look into the matter, but a speculative guess is that most Unreal Engine games should run at least on low-medium at 1366x768.
AC2: will most likely not run unless you turn it down to 1024x768 or lower at medium settings.
Dead Space: Should run fine at medium on 1366x768
Mass Effect: This is a tough one, with the sequel coming out today. I asked around in the UL30 owner's lounge, and the consensus seems to be that it runs OK at 1280x720 at medium settings with some some things (like dynamic shadows) switched off.
Borderlands: Also in the Owner's Lounge link above, runs OK at 1280x720 at medium. Techreport disagrees.
Mass Effect 2: I asked on the ME2 forums, the view seems to be that it won't run well at all.
Prototype: Runs good at 1280x720 at medium.
In all of the above, I'm assuming "smooth" or "good" implies an FPS of 25-35, and that you will not be using AA or more than 2xAF. I'm also assuming you're running the laptop in the turbo 33 mode at 1.7GHz.
As a bonus, all source engine games (HL2, sequels, L4D, etc) run great at the native resolution almost maxed out.
The 210m is a pretty weak card on a gaming setup. But on the UL series it should be amazing, given what else the laptop manages.
Heck, I've been doing so much reading on the topic I even set up a Wiki for UL30VT owners. Haven't gotten around to populating it yet- feel free to add any stuff you find! -
Hi Guys, I'm new here but was wondering what games can my laptop run. Here's it's stats.

MEMORY : 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 (2 DIMM); STORAGE : 1TB 7200rpm Hard Drive
GRAPHICS : Nvidia GeForce GT 230M (NB10P GE) with discrete 1024MB
Can this play any games from this list?
COD4:MW2
Fallout3
FarCry2
MassEffect2
Crysis

TES4:Oblivion
Thanks Honos. -

Here's the exact quote:
-
I have a hard time believing that, considering fo3 is more demanding than dead space
-
I can't vouch for the credibility of Anandtech's benchmarks.
I don't have the laptop yet. When it arrives, I'll check. -
I was wondering what settings I could run Mass Effect 2 on? I have decide whether I want to get it for PC or Xbox 360.
Intel Core-i7 720QM @ 1.6 Ghz
512 Mb Nvidia Geforce GT 240M

You have excellent gaming machine, but the key part is that software is always ahead of hardware.
In case you are looking for gaming only and don't need portability, desktop PC or PS3 might be better options to consider. -

If so what graphics setting will they roughly be at? Low, med , high?
Thanks. -
Actually I'm quite surprised to hear that I could run Arkham Asylum on high-ish settings efficiently. If only it was true...
My next question is: what if I tried to play these games (Bioshock, Bioshock 2, AC2) in windowed mode, 800x600? I'm pretty useless when it's about questions like this, but my guess is, that this way I could play them with better graphics.
Thanks in advance!

I know i barely make minimum specs and i play most games competitively i used to use this things to kill the Cod4 ladders with my team, now i do l4d2, which isnt that pc strenuous. I really wanna play bad company 2 though, but i feel like i'll be forced to put everything on low. If thats the case (that everything needs to be on low... that does NOT mean i can play it on my notebook) -
-
Well, im havin' issues gettin' the key for the beta, can't find one. I feel as though my gaming days with this PC for newer games is over
-
Hey guys...
I've been having problems to run Star Wars Force Unleashed...I know it is a very demanding game and I also heard all the critics people are saying about the requirements to play it...but anyway, I like Star Wars a lot to just avoid it
I have a HP dv7 1024el
with the following specs:
INTEL CORE 2 DUO P7350 2.0GHz 1066MHz 3MB CACHE
RAM DDR2 667MHz 4GB (2X2GB) - supports max of 8GB (2X4GB)
HD 250GB 5400 RPM SATA
NVIDIA GEFORCE 9600M GT 512 MB dedicated - up to 1791 MB when sharing
Vista 32bits
I don't know if it is a good gaming Laptop, all I know is that it heats up a lot once in a while, which definitely affects my performance
So my main question is this: What can I do to improve my notebook performance for Gaming?
I have the following ideas and would like comments:
1 - increase RAM to 8GB
2 - install win7 64bits
3 - overclock
4 - undervolt
5 - start running games with my notebook inside the fridge - just kidding...but using a good notebook cooler helps?
6 - or should i just sell this and buy a new one
BTW: I have NO knowledge about overclocking and/or undervolting CPU or GPU on notebooks...but with the correct tutorial I am sure I can do it...
I usually play my games with a Xbox 360 wireless controller and I connect my notebook on a Samsung HDTV...I just leave my notebook on the floor, sometimes with a big vent cooling it down...sometimes not
but I don't think this has anything to do with my bad FPS in force unleashed...since games like Resident Evil 5 runs perfect
thanks in advance...
sorry 'bout the english...I am italian... -

Here's the link to the Laptop : http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-L505-10X/1076414/
I don't know but it says Internal Resolution is 1366 x 768.
It has a 15.6 Screen with a 16 : 9 Aspect Ratio.
EDIT : My preferred resolution for gaming is 1280 x 1024 or maybe 1024 x 768. 800 x 600 is a bit okay as well. -
Only games I'm not sure are Risen and Dead Space. -
Sorry for posting again. But this I'm only going to ask about some old games.

Optimally, you would want a quadcore for this game to run well, but I higher clocked dual should be fine with it. As for textures and other settings, it would be good if you had a 1GB GPU, GTA IV textures and draw distance eats up VRAM a fair bit. -
Never though when I started this thread 2 summers ago that it would grow into this behemoth of a topic.
Glad it can help so many people -

fifafreak18, you may want to update the link in your sig. Somehow the indexing for the old thread got messed up and it doesn't exist at that address anymore.
