The graphics card is a bit better than the 8600m gt which is fine for older games.

just my 2cents on the topic XD -
also the resolution is 1920x1080. would the game run faster on a lower resolution? or do you think i should just leave it as is? -
download gpuz and see what it says in memory type.

Okay so finally got a chance to mess with blur since it finished downloading; and there isn't any separate graphical options to change aside from AA, you get 4 settings with 3 boxes showing what level you're on.
1920x1080 no AA with vsync on the lowest setting possible gets at least 30FPS during single player, small drops here and there, but for the most part it will hover around 30 fps, using the next step up makes it not really playable for me, only ~22fps. Running with 600/1550/500 on the laptop I have below.
The game looks good enough even on the lowest setting, so It's not much of a bother to me, this is more of a GPU dependent game than CPU. -
So im thinking of getting an XPS 16 for college, but also to game on. The specs are as follows:
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-720QM Quad Core Processor 1.6GHz (2.8GHz Turbo Mode, 6MB Cache)
GPU: ATI Mobility RADEON® HD 4670 – 1GB
RAM: 4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz
Display: Edge-to-Edge FHD Widescreen 15.6 inch WLED LCD (1920x1080) W/2.0 MP
Running Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English
I plan on playing WoW, SC2, Oblivion, Bf2BC, borderlands, TF2, CoD MW2, Half Life 2 and possibly EVE, as well as a few other games. -

Here is is: Gateway Official Site: Shop - Notebooks - NV5211u Laptop Product Details
It has a decent speed processor (2.1Ghz, dual core), plenty of RAM (4GB), a ATI Radeon HD 3200 with a little under 2GB of memory and directX 10. I don't expect awesome graphics or anything, just playable frame-rates. -
nope. If you're into gaming, find a laptop with at least dedicated graphics.
-
That HD3200 is a very low-level integrated card. You won't be doing any gaming on that.
If you're going for an ATi card, look for something with at least a 4570, or if nVidia, a 9600M (or GT 240M). -
Which card would do better playing Dirt 2? (And the next Grid as well)
I'm looking at both the Macbook Pro 15 and the HP Envy 14, and I'm trying to figure out which will do a better job with Dirt 2. I understand that the 330M isn't DX11, but I don't know how much better it will look on the 5650 because both cards won't be able to run it in that high detail. I also realize that to OC the MBP I would have to boot it in Windows 7, but I don't know which is easier to do.
Any advice, suggestions, or other input would be greatly appreciated! -
I'm thinking about getting a Lenovo ThinkPad W510. The graphics card is a Quadro FX 880M. Obviously, that should be great for flight simulation, but just how well would it be able to play the plethora of future user created content for StarCraft II? We're talking guns that shoot nukes and "Cannot Create More Units" here. Provided I can get it, the native resolution will be 1920x1080, and it will almost certainly have 4GB of RAM (1066MHz most likely). chlwotjd678, I'm looking at you.
Also, suppose that instead of a 720QM or 820QM, the laptop had a dual-core 620M. StarCraft II is geared for dual-core processing, so could this actually improve performance? -
How will my laptop handle the following games:
Crysis
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Metro 2033 -
Dragon age? hehe DL of steam atm... i think I'm screwed
CPU: C2D 2GHz (T7200)
GPU: X1400 (128mb 64 bit bus)
RAM: 2Gigs
Display 1680x1050 -
Will this setup be able to run Battlefield Bad Company 2? With what settings?
Sager NP2090 (Compal IFL-90)
CPU: Core 2 Duo T7300 (2.0Ghz)
GPU: Nvidia 8600M GT (512 MB RAM)
RAM: 4GB DDR2 - 667 Mhz
Native Resolution: 1680x1050
I think my earlier post got missed. -
YouTube - Gaming On Radeon HD 3200 - Dragon Age Origins
Battlefiled: Bad Company 2- low-med settings
Metro 2033 - Sry but no way looking at its crazy system requirements.
-
Starcraft II will run fluently on Ultra settings. If not, high settings. I'm not sure if the dual core is going to actually "Improve" the performance. But looking at the specs of each processors, the 620M might have a increase in performance as it has higher clocks.

Have HP/Compaq 1215
180mhz cpu w/ 64mb RAM
What/where kind o games can I play on this? DOS games maybe? Anywhere i can download free games, maybe games that are obsolete.
Kids games that is. -
google abandonware
-
moral hazard Notebook Nobel Laureate
Duke nukem 3d, doom, blood and half life (lowest settings). I agree with abandonware.
BTW, if it's a pentium mmx or anything before pentium 3, then it probably has an unlocked multiplier so you can overclock it pretty easy (there should be some resistors on the motherboard that act like jumpers).
I remember I took the pentium mmx 166mhz CPU in my old toshiba notebook from 2.5x to 3x (200mhz).
Then you can try to find the PLL and pinmod that, or try using some old software like clockgen or softFSB (not setfsb) to get the FSB up. -

Potential System: Sony VAIO VGN-FW590F3B Notebook PC
- Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.20GHz,
- 4GB DDR2,
- Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit,
- ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650 graphics with 512MB of dedicated VRAM to tackle any graphics requirement (2287MB Total Available Graphics Memory),
Starcraft 2 (Based upon Beta requirements)
World of Warcraft
Diablo 3 (Potentially at least, considering no system req's are out yet)
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NR498E and it has issues running World of Warcraft due to WoW requiring the updated drivers for the video card, yet the Sony hardware wont run 'properly' on the new driver. (Screen goes black if not connected to power).
Please let me know. Thank you. My system budget is $800, and this one is right on the edge of this budget. I'll even take suggestions for other systems into consideration. Again, thanks. -
I just tried playing single player. My FPS drops to 10 or so during intense fights. Will multiplayer be significantly easier on my hardware or am I out of luck? -
Battlefield Bad Company 2 - High~Max settings
Dirt 2- maxed settings
Even with that Sony VAIO VGN-FW590F3B, you will be able to run those games on high settings But I suggest that you take a look at the Asus.
Try this http://www.moddb.com/mods/gossamers-launcher to change some of the settings that you can't access in game.
Also try this http://download.cnet.com/Game-Booster/3000-18541_4-10913645.html to get some loads off your cpu. -
Here are the 'recommended' settings for Starcraft 2 (Beta)
* Windows Vista®/Windows® 7
* Dual Core 2.4Ghz Processor
* 2 GB RAM
* 512 MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800 GTX or ATI Radeon® HD 3870 or better
What about this system: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5753605??
Thanks for the assistance. -
I want to buy this laptop but would it be able to play upcoming PC Games especially Half Life 2 Episode 3 and Portal 2 at medium settings?

VGA: nVIDIA GeForce 310M VRAM 512MB (also has integrated graphics with new nVIDIA Optimus technology)
RAM: 4 GB DDR3
HDD: 320GB
I do more serious gaming on my Xbox 360. I just need one or two decent choices to play on the PC while at school. Thanks! =) -
-
What will it play?
Please recommend me games to play on this system.
I do not play games as of now but I am willing to try any game.
Gateway NV5387U

I know its not a straight up gaming notebook but I want to know what it "could" play.
I appreciate any suggestions! -

Can I run Trackmania United Forever Star Edition (Steam) on this with maximum settings at >30 FPS? What about RACE 07 and its derivatives? -

Hi.
I can't decide which one is better
1) Samsung i5-520M, GT 330M, Hard drive has 5400 rpm S-ATA
vs
2) Lenovo i5-430M, ATi HD 5650, Hard drive has 7200 rpm
All other specs are equal.
Samsung has better CPU, but lenovo has better graphic card and hard drive.
So what do you guys think I should buy?
Thanks -
if you have a need for the 5650, you can always upgrade the cpu later.
-
-
It really depends on what you are doing with the computer. For me personally, I would go for the Lenovo as the CPU's won't be that different in the real world.
-
What would you suggest for a $600 and below budget?
Its going to mainly for school, web surfing, and light game play.
Ill appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! -
Spec-wise I'd also go for 2nd setup.
-
abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
The second one. The difference between the 5650 and the 330M is greater than the difference than the 430M and 520M, plus the second one comes with the faster hard drive.
-
surely go with the 2nd set up. It does make the difference in games.
