so...by "knock yourself out" you mean...?? like go for it, it will completely dominate it or are you being an ? (i know i'm military, i'm tired and i hate being over here and i'm a noob with computers, my bad). i just wanna make sure the sager 9262 in the config i mentioned will basically dominate every game i like which is mainly rts (i have a 360 so i mostly play live, hit me up if you want my GT) but, i would like to run titan quest mainly on highest native without any hiccups, lotr bfme 1 and 2 and DEF fallout 3. would that config be able to beast through fallout 3 with a reasonable framerate? thanks!

my bad i didn't list entire config, i thought i did. it's as follows:

17 inch sager 9262 quad core 3.0, 4 gb of ram, nvidia 9800m gtx 1 gb vram (dedicated, upgradeable to sli if i wish), 1920x1200 native resolution, 2x320 hdd in raid 0 config. now, only games i play are : starcraft, warcraft 3, age of mythology, titan quest, lord of the rings battle for middle earth 1 and 2, dawn of war. i honestly don't know jack about computers, i'm a tv guy so sorry for the stupid questions people. i'm currently on a dell xps m1530 piece of dual core 1.6 2 gb of ram, 128 mb nvidia 8400m gs. it's a waste don't buy it, it sucks large throbbing donkey . i would much rather have bought a hp or kept my gateway over this junkheap. sorry, it's my first dell and honestly, not too impressed. thanks for the input and help guys!!

heh, somehow i feel you're being a pretty big smart to me right now, for $2700, i kind of have a feeling it would do a little better than 1280x800(my dell does that, and it looks kinda haineous). so yeah..i have a funny feeling the sager i'm builing through xoticpc is going to be a monster. like i said, i don't know much about computers so...is there anything you recommend i do/don't do? any tips would be much appreciated thanks!

Hey guys, how do you think this notebook would hold up playing Crysis and GTA IV and what kind of settings could I expect?

hi im new to these forums...and i will probably post this somewhere really stupid and i dont have a clue what im doing...so please bear with me ;)

im hoping to get the dell inspiron..the 1525 this is the one with 2GB of ddr2 ram, a dual core 2.0Ghz, and the 160GB hard drive...what i would like to know is if anyone has any experience in using the onboard graphics processor...its an intel x1300...i would like to play some games on it but not extreme ones...i have my desktop for crysis, cod waw and css etc...i was hoping to sort of play some rts games like age of empires and company of heroes, casual shooters and the odd racing game. im not exactly expecting it to be able to play games made in the last 3 years...and if it could then definitly not on high graphical settings. i would greatly appreciate it if anyone could tell me what sort of games i could play, what settings and what sort of framerate i would be getting..

    many thanks
    scott

1900x1200 native resolution and max detail for the games you listed with the possible exception of Dawn of War 2 since it's new and more demanding than the older games you listed.

Clear and easy enough to understand for you?

yeah, thank you harley. i appreciate it. :) i can't wait! i order my sager in like 2 weeks hooray! $2700 though...jeez. that's with only 4 gb instead of 8 and 1 video card instead of 2 running in sli. question though..is the 9800m gtx better for gaming or should i go with the fx3700m? just wondering, based on what i was kinda gathering off this stupid haji connection the fx3700m is more towards office and professional applications whereas the 9800m gtx is specifically for gaming. also, is the setup i chose decent or should i change anything? i'm basically trying to make a monster, that's all

    Try updating your graphics driver:
    http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/intelgm965/

    CS:S: High @ 1280 x 800
    TF2: Low - Medium @ 1024 x 768
    COD4: Low @ 800 x 600

Medium @ 1280 x 800 should be playable on your setup.
A HD3650/9600m and a 2.4GHz core 2 duo processor would get the most out of left for dead at lower resolutions.

    FSX: Medium
    Grid: Low - Medium
    il2: Medium

The 3650/9600m GT would be significantly better.

    Crysis: Medium @ 1280 x 800
    GTA4: Low(because of processor)

I wouldn't get the X3100 for anything demanding like COH. It'll be fine for BF2 and CS:S but not much more.

Looks like a monster to me :D The 9800 would be better than the 3700m for games and that setup looks more than adequate for any game you could think to throw at it. Happy gaming!

The 8400m GS is probably the most powerfull out of all of those but there are known problems with the gpu so it's probably better to go with one of the others(which are about equal in performance) just to be safe.
PES should play on low settings at least(sorry i cant be more specific)

Medium - High settings, possibly with some lag with alot of zombies on screen.

Good idea; this was added a little while ago to that thread. Thanks.

    I just updated the sticky..
    • I removed several "minor" threads that were either very old or not relevant anymore.
    • I added the X3100 pre-beta drivers, NBR Gamers, Steam Deals, and The best Netbook for gaming threads
If anybody has suggestions as to what they would like to see in the sticky, feel free to post it and I'll take a look.

If you're not required to run something like AutoCAD, Maya or similar GPU-powered professional applications then stick with the 9800m GTX. More than enough power for at least 2-3 years.

    and

    2. inspiron 13

    Intel® Pentium™ Dual Core T4200 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/1MB cache)

Almost missed your question with all the non-essential detail packed into this post. Yes your PC will run Fallout 3 and it should do so at your native resolution and maxed out graphical detail.

    High @ 1280 x 800 with 30 fps

I don't think the requirements have even been released yet? But you should be running it around the medium mark regardless :)

Medium - High settings @ 1280 x 800 sounds reasonable(going by the requirements) havn't seen much of how this game performs yet ;)

I'm on the verge of buying a new laptop atm and it has come down to 2 models. I'll mainly use it to play World of Warcraft. What I would like to know is the following: Would there be a big difference in performance between the Acer Aspire 6930G-594G64MN (2,2GHz Dual core T5900, 4 GB DDR2 Ram, 5400 rpm hard drive and Nvidia Geforce 9600M GS) and the Acer Aspire 6935G-944G32BN (2,53 GHz dual core T9400, 4 GB DDR3 Ram, 7200 rpm hard drive and Nvidia Geforce 9600M GT)? Thx

I've been looking to buy a laptop that I want to be able to play the Sims 3 on, and a lot of computers I've come across have the Nvidia 9300, 9400, 9500, or 9650 graphics card. They are not on the official list of compatible cards ( http://thesims3.ea.com/view/pages/newsItem.jsp?item=236875146 ) but it seems like there are cards worse than they are on those lists. So would Sims 3 really not be able to run on these cards, or did EA just not include literally every single compatible card?

There wouldn't bee a huge difference between the two, especially for WOW. RTS games might be around 20-30% faster due to the processor but otherwise it's <10%.

Any of the gpu's you listed will run the game. The 9650 would be a good choice if you intend to do alot of gaming on this laptop.

Default Medium settings @ 1280 x 800 should run pretty well.

Neither game has released anything in the way of solid system requirements yet(or at least that's what google tells me) but i think a T6400 would be a little underpowered for new games being released this year.

Not likely. High settings at a lower resolution wouldn't be unreasonable though.

    WAW should run on low - medium settings @ 1024 x 768.
It'll run plenty of new games on low settings and res.

Wow, when the heck did you upgrade to that monster? I remember you had a performance GPU one time (HD 3650?). But anyhow GTAIV ran on high-medium just fine for me at native resolution. So I'm sure you're NASA computer will murder it. With GTAIV the CPU is most important and you seem to have a Quad coming your way so it should run it more than fine at high settings.

Anything you throw at it. Just be sure to update to geforce drivers for better gaming performance(laptopvideo2go.com would be a god place to start)

As cheeseman said. Download the patch as soon as you can and you'll be able to play the game on the highest settings you can play it on with either processor.

    CS:S: Maxed
Oblivion: Med - High @ 1024 x 768(download the low-poly grass mod if you want to enable grass and the streamline mod for better performance)
    L4D: Medium @ 1280 x 800
    Mass Effect: Low @ 1024 x 768
    Dead Space:Low - Medium @ 1024 x 768
    WOW: Medium @ 1024 x 768

    Fallout3: Medium @ 1280 x 800
    WAW: Med - High @ 1280 x 80
    L4D: Med - High @ 1280 x 800

You can play pretty much any game on medium settings with that laptop so add whatever games you want yourself :p

I'm buying a new notebook like next month and i think this one will do:

    Acer aspire 6930g
    4096mb ddr2 ram
Nvidia GeForce Go 9600m GS 512mb
    intel core 2 duo t5900 2,2 ghz.
    2x 320gb Hdd.
    16'', 1366x768

Can this machine run these games?

    Team Fortress 2
    Battlefield 2
    Left 4 Dead
    Frontlines Fuel of War
    Company Of Heroes
Call of Duty 4 and 5

What settings and Fps can they be ran at?

    Thanks, Cookie.

CPU's fine, but a 7700 is dated and may not have sufficient power to max out or run details on high at your desired resolution.

You can run GTAIV but don't expect miracles in performance unless your settings and resolution are lowered considerably. Getting the latest GTAIV patch has reportedly boosted performance for users on this forum. As for FIFA 2009 you should be better placed but don't start too high on resolution and settings.

If you're on Vista, get more RAM and move to x64 Vista if you go all out for 4 or more GB.

You shouldn't have any trouble maxing out source games like CS:S and Zombie panic @ 1440x900(maybe 1680x1050) with that setup.

    Team Fortress 2: High @ 1280 x 800, 30+
    Battlefield 2: Maxed, 60+
Left 4 Dead: Med - High @ Native res
    Frontlines Fuel of War: High
    Company Of Heroes: High DX9 @ 1280 x 800, 30 fps(turn post processing & effects density/quality down to play at native)
    Call of Duty 4 and 5: Med - High @ 1280 x 800

Fifa should run fine on medium @ 1280 x 800, GTA4 might run ok with the new patch but expect the framerate to dip into the low 20's at least(still should be playable for the most part)

    Hi, my spec is:

    4GB DDR2 667mhz
    T8300 2.4GHz core 2 duo
    150gb 7200rpm
    8800gtx

Can I run Empire total war with it looking pretty (Do not care about antialiasing)? Or will I need to have small unit sizes? I ask this because medieval total war 2 will not let me have large battles and says my cpu can not run it, I play it on high settings but anti-aliasing off or on 2x and and the other filtering low (but at 1900x1200) Thanks.

I am completely ignorant about these things.
