I played soc with almost everything maxed but i don't want to buy clear sky if i can only run it on medium/high settings.
Thanks

I don't think you have a problem getting the settings you desire.

Will my lappy in my sig be able to run Battlefield heroes with 1280 x 800 res?
While I'm asking, what about my desktop amd 64 2.2GHz, 6800gt, 2GB ddr333, 1280 x 1024. I haven't received my invite yet but I'm wondering if it is worth my time. -
Will my Dell studio 15 notebook be able to run StarCraft 2 in the future? I know Blizzard doesn't demand that much but I just want to make sure. If so, at what settings do you think it will be able to play at?

It would be pretty iffy considering you have an integrated graphics card.
If you have a better graphics card, I'd say probably around low-medium ish -
I would also like to play Titan Quest with my computer. Will it be able to play it? If it will, with about how much lags?

Oldish game but I'm not sure your integrated chipset can run the game without sacrificing some features and resolution for performance.
-
Well.. Im downloading it right now.. So, I'll try it and see what happens

Hi, I have an Inspiron 1501 Dell notebook with an ATI Radeon Express 1150 dedicated graphics card. Fairly workmanlike card, but not sufficient for many games though the machine is. (Dual core AMD, 2 gigs RAM)
I'm looking to upgrade to the best compatable card availiable for this machine. Dell offers, curiously, no support for this.
Can anyone advise me on a card compatable with this machine that will deliver better performace? Price is a secondary concern: I want the best card that will fit.
Thank's in advance.

I just bought a new Asus laptop from Bestbuy and wondered if it could play some games.
Here's the link to the laptop's specs:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9173262&type=product&id=1218044029168
I'm pretty sure it can play most games that are out now but just double check: Left 4 dead, fall out 3, and GTA 4 -
Hello, I am getting a new laptop and was wondering what kind of performance change (good or bad) that I'll see specifically with WoW. I play WoW on the almost lowest graphic setting with a resolution of 1280 x 800. How about Empire: Total War and MLB 2k9? Great forum and thanks for the help.
Current --> New
Dell D630 --> Dell E6500
2 Duo CPU T7500 2.20 GHz --> 2.8 GHZ Core 2 Duo
2 Gigs Ram --> 4 Gigs Ram
NVIDIA 135M --> Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD (obviously this is what i'm worried about)
Thanks!

If you can get Empire and the baseball game to even run in the first place, you're looking at lowest resolution possible and few if any graphical features enabled.

It should play all of the games out right now fine.
I don't know how well GTA 4 will run because thats a very processor intensive game and the X5's biggest weak spot is its processor -
The ATI 1150 is an integrated gpu. 99% of notebook graphics cards cannot be upgraded and your is no different.
Yes. 1280 x 800 with medium - high settings should be playable. -
I play TF2 low-med with my P7350 and 9600M. its horribly cpu-bound. Try enabling the multicore option, if it works you'll be able to play med-high.

Yay my notebook runs titan quest very smoothly. I'm downloading the expansion set right now. Intel gma 965 has grown some muscles!!
Also, my notebook can run AOE3 almost maxed out with no tweaks.

I have an 8600m gt ddr3 video card, I wondered what settings I should use to play Empire:total war?
Note: I played the demo on mostly medium settings and although the land battles went well enough (some lag in concentrated battles), naval battles came to a crawl
Other specs of my xps m1530~
-4gb ram (vista)
-2.4ghz duo core -
:S Really man? i get the double fps in naval battles against land battles... ~60 fps vs ~25-30 fps...
-
How do you get that frame rate? What settings do you use? I see you have dual 8600s, but still, how do you ahieve such high fps? Are settings set to medium?
-
Yes man, medium... all medium, shader 3 high, 2x AA, 4x AF, unit size Ultra, checked all the below things except vertical sync and SSAO... I can't get it higher because the game won't allow me to do it... High and Very high is greyed out...

1. Not likely to run
2. If it can run at all, everything at rock bottom and you won't get high framerates anyway
3. See 2.
4. Might run but not much better performance compared to 2. -
Will my lappy in my sig be able to run Battlefield heroes with 1280 x 800 res?

I played WoW on an Intel GMA and it ran fine at native 1280x800 resolution, with everything set at low. However, in very busy situations, I got very low fps (10 or less), but this happened very rarely. If you are doing massive raids or Wintergrasp every day, play at a lower res than native. like 800x600 or something like that. Mine had a T5250 1.4 GHz, way slower...but the GPU was the bottleneck anyways. Try to get something with a dedicated GPU if you can..anything really.
-
Compatible card? You can't upgrade the GPU in a notebook 99% of the time. You need a new machine to get a new GPU since they are soldered onto the mobo. Price = a new machine...
sorry. So to summarize...nobody offers support for this (not curious). Unless it has MXM...and with the Studio series I'm pretty sure your SOL there.
-
Posting here cause desktop one is closed =) , but here goes:
Do you think I would be able to play Empire: Total War, and with what settings?
1.86GHz Core 2 Duo
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS (I think the drivers are 9.6.8.9)
2.00 Gigs Ram
I couldn't play the demo, but I think it was an issue with the download (Had to do it 3 times, still took 10 minutes to load.) Was able to play Dawn of War 2 demo on lower settings, and currently play Company of Heroes alone on high settings, and online on lower settings to avoid lag.
Thanks. -

Most certainly but that CPU may be bottlenecking your graphics card. Get a cheap E7000 series CPU

Hey I wanted to ask if i can play the following games in vista ? i mean i know for sure the hardware can more than handle them, but they are old games released before vista and microsofts website said they had compatibility issues ?
Caesar 4
Heroes of Might and Magic 5
Civilisation 4
F1 Challenge 99-02
___________________-
Also how long into the future can my system continue playing newer versions of these games (like civ 5 or something) or similar newer games ? -
that is hard to say, as it falls under software compatibility problem. but it should, as vista does give you the option to run games in xp, win 2000 compatiblity modes
-
2 and 3 on your list will definitely play since I have them on my system now and they run straight off without any problems. Caesar 4 shouldn't give you any problems either.
For your 2nd question it depends on what games you like to play and what you expect your system to run the games on. If you're an FPS nut who needs everything maxed out at the highest resolution possible then you should upgrade now, if you're willing to compromise then you can see a good 2 years more of service before you're forced to change your system. -
I meant games starcraft 2 or successors to the games i mentioned, if they come out , like civilisation 5 or HOMM 6 or Age of Empires 4 etc.
-
If they do make sequels for the games you mentioned in the near future, they should still run on your system since they aren't the type of games that require top of the line systems to run and tend to cater for a wider audience.
Of course it's all tentative since none of the games you mention are going to see sequels anytime soon. -
i recently bought this comp will i have any problems running BF2 on it?

Nope, maxed out at native(1280 x 800) with all the AA & AF you can throw at it and 100fps. You can play any game you want with that comp.
Yes at least low at 1024 x 768. Maybe* a few settings on medium.
BF2: Maxed
COD4/5: Med - High @ native res
WOW: High @ Native
Crysis: Medium @ native(DX9 for better performance) -
Hello,
Just got Red Alert 3 and The Orange Box. Can I play them with my lappy?
HP dv9535
1.5GHz dual core (I think T5250?)
2 GB memory
Nvidia 8600M GS
17" screen
Thanks!! -
Your processor is pretty weak, you'll probably have to play on low settings in RA3 and TF2. The rest of the orange box should run on medium settings and up.
-
Thanks for your quick reply!
-
Hey people,
I'm waiting for this laptop and thought I'd ask you guys if you think I'd be able to play at least some of the more modern games, for example, cod4 fallout 3.
Thanks in advance
