03/06/2009 11:46:15AM Aj: "Thank you but I already knew that. I need to know about the graphics card"
03/06/2009 11:46:44AM Agent (Cheryl): "The graphics card 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 4650 is a high end option for this component."
03/06/2009 11:47:18AM Agent (Cheryl): "Thus, it has the best and most advanced component as well."

03/06/2009 11:48:26AM Agent (Cheryl): "By the way, great choice you have with the HP Pavilion dv7t series."
    03/06/2009 11:48:34AM Aj: "Thank you"
    03/06/2009 11:48:38AM Agent (Cheryl): "Yes."
03/06/2009 11:48:59AM Agent (Cheryl): "I don't have the link to support that information."
03/06/2009 11:49:52AM Agent (Cheryl): "However, we have the assurance that for high end options or components, they are supported with the most and latest technology."
03/06/2009 11:50:41AM Agent (Cheryl): "I am pretty sure you want to see movies on this notebook PC, right?"
03/06/2009 11:50:42AM Aj: "So are you assuming that because its the high end option then it is ddr3 or do you actually see the specifications that state that the part is ddr3. I'm sorry for asking"
03/06/2009 11:50:58AM Agent (Cheryl): "It is not a problem."
03/06/2009 11:52:12AM Agent (Cheryl): "My resources here does not specifically mention it. However, it does say the graphics card provided on this model is high-end."
03/06/2009 11:52:42AM Aj: "Thank you for your time."
    03/06/2009 11:52:44AM Session Ended

technically, gddr3 is based on ddr2. ddr3 has never been used as video memory until the ati decided to use it on the hd46xx cards. i don't know about it's performance, or overclockability. but if they are clocked the same, they should perform similarly, and i think that they are usually clocked similarly, anywhere between 700mhz to 1000mhz.
bottom line is they provide alot more bandwidth, compared to ddr2.

edit: @ajzahir, she is clearly unsure about it, and it's evident that she does not know a thing about graphics memory and just wikipediaed it, i wouldnt take her word.

Hey, I was wondering if my laptop can run Assassin's Creed. Thanks in advance!

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5500 (1.66 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 Cache)
    GPU: 256MB ATI Mobility RADEON X1700 (with 512MB HyperMemory™ ;)
    RAM: 2 GB DDR2 (667 Mhz)

I've done a 'Can You Run It?' test for my laptop on Assassin's Creed, but it indicated that my CPU failed the requirements. So, I'd like to know if Dual core processor 2.6 GHz Intel® Pentium® D or AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 3800+ are better than Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5500 (1.66 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 Cache)?

    Hi,

Can the Asus g50vt-x1 run GTA IV same as the PS3?

And what are the equivalent settings of this game on the PC to get it same as the PS3?

This is the spec of the G50vt-x1

    CPU : Intel® Centrino® 2 processor technology with interrelated Intel® Core™2 Duo processor P8400 (2.26GHz, 1066MHz, 3mb L2 Cache)
    Ram: 4GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM
    GPU : NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GS with 512 mb memory (8500 3dmark 06)

    Thanks

    Edit:

The screen is WXGA 1366X768 (16:9).

So I will be probably playing at this resolution.

You'll get lag on the lowest settings when there's alot of people on the screen. It might be worth a shot if you really want to play the game altough with the fps spikes and ugly graphics it probably won't be very enjoyable.

No the ps3 would run the game alot better due to the it being very processor intensive.
Have a look at THIS thread and maybe ask there if you can't find a better answer

Could I run Left 4 Dead? Oblivion?I know starcraft 2 isn't out yet, but do you think it could work?

If not, do you have any recommendations for cards in cheap, college/game laptops?

systemrequirementslab is often very inaccurate. It should be used as a very basic indicator if your system can run a game or not.

    it would play wow fine.
i would try to avoid the geforce 8 series though, maybe a 9200/9300 or a hd3200/3400 will be better?

Will a laptop with the following specifications be able to run GTA IV and Crysis?

Please give me some idea of what resolutions and possible settings I might be able to get smooth frame rates at.

    Thanks so much.

    15.4" TFT screen 1680x1050 resolution.
    Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 2.26GHz, 3MB Cache, 1066MHz

Yes to the 1st 2 but get more RAM (at least 2GB if running Windows XP and 4GB for Vista (x64 preferable). No clue about starcraft 2 but Blizzard cater to a wide audience with their products so a 3470 should be fine when the game is finally released.

If you're going for a cheap laptop that can run games decently, the Radeon 3670 should be a better choice than the card you're looking at.

GPU: nVidia GeForce 9300M GS 256mb

RAM: 4gb, though i'm not on vista 64bit.

    Question:

Will it run games like the ones below and in what quality could it? :D

    GTA IV
    NFS Undercover
NFS: Prostreet (I know 's not a good game, but well..)
    Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X.

Sorry bout that rather long list o'games, but it's better that way or I might be too persistent posting things and things here. anyway, thanks in advance guys. :D

    @Kisetsu
Definitely not to GTA IV. The 9300m gs is really an entry level video card, and GTA IV is one of the most demanding games currently out there, so, unfortunately, not a chance.

He does, in fact, have 4GB of ram. The 512mb is referring to the gpu (and a 3470 wouldn't benefit from more, so it's fine in that regard). But, anyways, yeah, you're fine.

    @ Satlas,

So all other games I mentioned would run? At what settings do you guess it would run? Well, about GTA IV, I saw a video @ youtube that someone with a 9300M GS running GTAIV, and I was also doubtful so I sought opinions here..anyway, thanks again and more power. :D

You did not state your processor which will matter slightly in the case of WoW, GTAIV (a lot) and L4D (significantly).

The 9650m GT is more than enough to max WoW, Spore, Sims2 (possibly 3) most of the time, CoD5 and Fallout 3 you can probably max out depending on your native resolution. L4D might be processor bottlenecked with your system while GTAIV is not the best performing console port around so medium settings on that will probably suffice.

Your CPU has the same speed as mine but I think yours has a reduced L2 cache being the difference.

It should run the games all right although WoW will suffer in performance if you go for 20+ raids or the like. Likewise for the other CPU-intensive games if there are lots of things onscreen to render and calculate at the same time.

The 1st and 3rd game will likely not run at all, if Far Cry 2 works it will be at minimum settings, lowest resolution and you won't be getting gameworthy performance anyway.

None of which were on your requested list of games, also Mirror's Edge and Saints Row 2 are similar to COD4 in hardware demanding requirements and they're not as forgiving on your machine unlike COD4 which scales better and tolerates an integrated chipset.

Hi. Just bought my Thinkpad T400 and the following games are on my radar:

    Civilization 4 (and expansions)
    Europa Universalis 3 (and expansions)
    Galactic Civilizations II (also expansions)
    Sins of a Solar Empire
And maybe the Lord of the Rings MMORPG

Civ 4 and EU III are the games I am most interested in. I know they will run, but will they run WELL?

Also interested in some real time strategy that would run well on my system.

    My machine:

    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 (2.4 GHz 1066 MHz 3MBL2) 25W
GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon 3470 w/ 256 MB
    RAM: 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067 MHz SODIMM
    Display: WXGA+ TFT
    OS: Vista 64 bit

Edit: Mr order states that the GPU actually has 1GB of VRAM.

Anyone have any ideas on this one?
