    Left 4 Dead

^low, and you will still lag in left 4 dead when mobs come, and call of duty 4/5 would be iffy on low also

    4 GB Memory
    14.1 Widescreen
    160 GB HD
    Webcam

as I said in your original thread, the GeForce equivalent would be something like 9300 or 9400 at best. Look at what those can run.

But I thought for Quadro cards they were slower than normal 9xxx series, does that make a difference in game selection

    Games-Spore (mid native res)
Empire: Total War (low maybe lower the res a bit)
Call Of Duty 4 and 5 (low native res)
Dawn of War 2 (no idea sorry)
World in Conflict (low-mid native res)
StarCraft 2 (your opinion) (knowing blizzard, mid native res should be possible)
Assassin's Creed (low and lower the res just a bit)

hd 3450 been a low range card should be about half to 70% as powerful as the HD4530 though I dont know much about the 4530. the 6800 been a high end card thats 3 gen old should be still more powerful than 3450 but not by more that 50% i would say

Do Quadro video cards have compatibility, so if a 9400 or a 9300 can run a game does that mean that the Quadro 105 can?

yes, it should run them as well as GeForce. If that doesn't happen, you can always softmod it into GeForce. I feel too lazy right now to explain it all, so i'll just send you to Google =)) I hope you won't get upset with me)

I dont think I want to softmod because it is a uni laptop and I was wondering what would work, I think COD4 and Far Cry 2 will run. Heck they work on a 6600.

Unlikely, I'm guessing you have an Intel X3100 or X4500 neither of which will run the game at acceptable performance (assuming game can run in the first place).

    Hi all,

First post. I have been looking around the site for a couple of days, and finally decided to join. Seems like a very helpful site!

Here is my question. I recently bought an HP DV7T-2000 . Here are the required specs for this thread:

    1) Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 ghz processor (P8600)
    2) 4gb DDR2 memory
    3) ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 (1gb)

Will this be able to run the following games (I don't have the laptop yet. It should be arriving in the next few days, but I am curious)?

    COD4: Modern Warfare
    Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter
    Civilization 4
Crysis (Don't own this yet. I want to know if I will be able to run it before I buy it)

    Thanks!
    Eric (future_paramedic)

Hey I'm new here, but got a few questions.

    Here are my specs:

    Sony VAIO FW Notebook

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor (2.4 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 3 MB L2 Cache)
    GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon 3650
    RAM: 4096MB 800MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x2048]
    Hard Drive: 320 GB @ 7200 RPM
    Display (Native): 1920x1080

I was wondering how well I can play the following games? I would like at least 25+ frames per second. I dont need to play it at native resolution.

    Here's the list:

    Fallout 3
    Crysis
    Bioshock
    Elder Scrolls 4 - Oblivion
    Call of Duty 4

The ASUS G50Vt for its size has so far been the lightest notebook I've owned and I've owned 5 laptops over the years. It's even ligher than my ASUS M50, yet more powerful.

Ah see i find that exact same thing about the build quality and components of the Studio XPS lineup. What actually deterred me from buying one (Besides the physical feel of it) Was standing in the computer section at best buy seeing 3...yes 3 people in line all with XPS studio (13 inch models i know) In hands for repair. I asked the Sales guy about it and he said thus far it has one of the highest return rates among there laptops, could just be isolated but it certainly scared me off. That being said my Inspirion has been Rock solid...But so was my last ASUS. How has your experience been with your 16?

Lets say i have a CPU Core 2 Duo of 2.53 and 4GB and WUXGA which are enouth settings..but im still wondering about the graphics card; its my weakest area of knowledge. For the games

    a) Crysis,

    b) COD5

    c) Left for Dead

    d) Battlefield 2
....which of these graphics card will be able to play which of these games and on which settings settings Ultra high, high, medium. Medium/Low, Low:

    a) nvidia geforce 9800m GTS

    b) Dual nvidia gefore 9700M GTS

    c) ati mobility radeon HD 3870

    d) ati mobility radeon HD 4870

    e) nvidia geforce 9800M GS

    f) nvidia geforce 260M GTX

    g) nvidian geforce 280M GTX

    h) ati mobility radeon HD 4650

    i) ati mobility radeon HD 4570

    j) nvidia geforce 9800M GT

Just a general Idea so i know where i will stand when customizing..and let me know if any of my other specs, 2.53, 4GB will need upgrading. I tried to pick the different ranges of games so i can have a good way of seeing...
    Thank You...advice greatly appreciated...

The best card there is the 280M GTX, followed by the 9700M GTS SLI (dual), 4870, then 260M GTX, 9800M GT, 9800M GTS, 3870, 9800M GS, 4650 then 4570.

The top range of those (9800M GS and above) can play BF2, COD5 and L4D and the very highest settings (maybe a tiny bit lower settings for 3870 and 9800M GS). The other two are a lot weaker. 260M GTX and above should be able to play Crysis fine at high settings + high resolution. The rest are really complicated, check my chart for more details.

You don't need to upgrade anything else.

Speaking from experience with the 9800M GS:

a)Crysis - roughly 30FPS average on High settings @ 1366x768, would probably see a good FPS boost on Medium

    b) COD5 - everything High @1366x768, good framerate

    c) Left for Dead - everything High @1366x768, 50-60FPS

    d) Battlefield 2 - don't know, but I imagine it would run very well

It's also easily OC'd to the 9800M GTS spec, which boosts performance an extra 10% or so.

Depending on your operating system, any game programmed natively for DOS or Windows 3.1 and you have a 64-bit operating system.

Of course if you're trying to brag about how powerful your system is, there shouldn't be any game released over the last 5 years to present day that can't be run on the specifications you've listed. GTAIV and Crysis will probably be only the games that you can't max out one way or another.

yep, I "think" the 9800m GTS should be able to play Crysis at High at decent resolutions.

BTW plasma, what mobile cards do you think can play Crysis or Warhead at decent resolution (1280x800-144x900) at Very High/Enthusiast???

I'm planning to install Company of Heroes, Red Alert 3, Battle for Middle Earth 2 and F.E.A.R on my Asus M50Sa (Vista Business, Core2 Duo T9300 2.5 Ghz, 4GB DDR2 Ram, 320GB 5400rpm Hdd, ATI HD 3650 1GB DDR2) . However I need to know if it will run decently as compared to my Acer 5502 (Win XP Home, Pentium M 1.73 Ghz, 2GB DDR2 Ram, 60GB 4200rpm Hdd, ATI X700 64Mb DDR). On my Acer 5502 those games run mostly on medium settings at 1024x768 resolution (F.E.A.R runs on 800x600 resolution). Thanks.

As far as I know the ati hd 3650 is much better than ati x700. I think you will have no problem with those games. But don't expect them to be maxed out.
    Probably mid settings.

I'm currently playing those games on medium settings on the X700. From the settings you suggested, wouldn't this make the X700 equivalent to the HD 3650? By the way, I monitored the FPS using Fraps and got on average 20-25 FPS on the X700.
