None of the programs should be taxing to the GPU so you shouldn't have too much of a problem (I'm guessing on the Ubuntu extras), rather you will want the most powerful CPU you can afford since that will be the key component for your system.

Maxed AF, Keep AA off, shadows low-medium, grass can be maxed in the 1st chapter, drop it to low-medium for everywhere else, resolution should be 1440 widescreen otherwise native resolution will require you to drop a few more features. V-Sync can stay off.

    ASUS Eee PC 901

Can it run MS office 2007?

office specs say it needs a 1024x768 or higher resolution monitor

But the Asus has a 1024 x 600-pixel resolution (WXGA).

    Is there a problem?

So guys everyone told me that the ati mobility hd 3450 is slightly better than geforce 8400m GS. So, if I see a vid of 8400m GS playing a game on mid settings, does that mean that I would be able to play that game at same or higher settings?

Generally yes in your case, only exception is if a game is developed with a heavy bias towards one of the GPU companies leading to a noticeable performance hit to the unfavoured company's products. This is somewhat moot nowadays since the current GPU crop has plenty of power to render non-favoured games.

Hmm......I think it should be fine. Screen size will just decrease some productivity, but there is no reason why the program wont run if you have sufficient hardware, which the netbook should have

Last 2 maxed, WoW might give you problems with too many things rendered on screen otherwise maxed. Sacrifice shadows first if performance is affecting gameplay for WoW.

Completely agree; my old laptop was a PCWorld special: Advent 9215. 2Gb Ram, T2330 1.6GHz dual core, bog standard in every sense of the word. According to that site, I should not have been able to run Hitman Contracts, Far Cry, heck I shouldn't have even been able to play CoD - But I could, and none were buggy or slow. It would not have been able to keep up with the games nowadays, but it just goes to show that site aint all that and a bag of potato chips ;o)

    CPU: Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor1 P8400 (2.26GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 3MB L2 cache)
    GPU: 9800m gts

It's a P-7801u, which is the same as a P-7805u except it has 2.26 Ghz instead of 2.4 Ghz.

You forgot to mention the graphic card, which is the most important.

. Creed I think you can max out, Fallout not sure, it's a new game. If you have problems, just turn of shadows, as advised already above.

    Maxed.

I think oblivion on low settings and I'm not sure about unreal tournament 2004 and day of defeat source.

It should run fine in DX7 mode (disables all shaders, only textures and polygons, still looks good though) with high settings, however the lack of dedicated VRAM might mean using medium settings. Try DX7 mode, max screen resolution, max DX7 settings w/o AA, and reduced from there.

I don't think so. You will have to lower all settings to low and probably lower resolution too. Which you didn't mention as well. But telling me what gpu you have is enough.

Can this laptop run GTA4 at decent quality?
    -Intel Core2Duo T9500 2.60GHz
    -GeForce 8700M GT
-3070 MB Ram (not sure about details)
    -WUXGA

    And what about this:
    -Intel Core2Duo T9300 2.5GHz
    -NVIDIA 9800M GTS 1GB DDR3
    -4GB DDR2 667MHz
    -WUXGA

    And finally this:
    -Intel Core2Duo T9400 2.53 Ghz
    -NVIDIA 9800M GT 512MB DDR3
    -4GB DDR3 1066
    -WUXGA

These are three laptops I am looking at, possibly to buy one of them and my main game that I am concerned about is GTA4. I also play CS:S and some of the Half-Life episodes but I'm not worried about them with these graphics cards.
