None of the programs should be taxing to the GPU so you shouldn't have too much of a problem (I'm guessing on the Ubuntu extras), rather you will want the most powerful CPU you can afford since that will be the key component for your system.
-
yes. it should be able to play medium quality just fine
-
thnx for the replies guys and also will i be able to upgrade it in future??i knw laptop grafix cards are not removable and stuff..but i heard some dell lappys are able to do that..

Very few notebooks have upgradeable graphics cards. See this thread for more info: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=86864

Will Assassin's Creed run on a Quadro FX 570m card?

yes, medium high settings should do.

Will Ati Mobility Radeon HD 2600 GDDR 512mb play:
Fallout 3
Gears Of War
THANKS IN ADVANCE
-
Maxed AF, Keep AA off, shadows low-medium, grass can be maxed in the 1st chapter, drop it to low-medium for everywhere else, resolution should be 1440 widescreen otherwise native resolution will require you to drop a few more features. V-Sync can stay off.

ASUS Eee PC 901
Can it run MS office 2007?
office specs say it needs a 1024x768 or higher resolution monitor
But the Asus has a 1024 x 600-pixel resolution (WXGA).
Is there a problem? -

Hey, I was wondering if I could play far cry 2. I've checked systemreqirementslap and I passed for "minimum". I also checked for Rainbow Six: Vegas and I passed "recommended". But when I installed and try to play RS vegas it didn't run so good. Thanks in advance.

Can I Run It? -
The reason why I don't have this in the first post is because that site can be pretty inaccurate at times.

FarCry 2 playable at 1280x800 resolution at all medium settings. Got consistently 25-30fps with Dox 182.46 in Vista Ultimate x64.

I am wondering if I can play games like counter strike source. I have a raedon 9600 that can run source games but i'm just not sure how the GMA compares to it. -
yes. high 1280*800.

So guys everyone told me that the ati mobility hd 3450 is slightly better than geforce 8400m GS. So, if I see a vid of 8400m GS playing a game on mid settings, does that mean that I would be able to play that game at same or higher settings?
-
Generally yes in your case, only exception is if a game is developed with a heavy bias towards one of the GPU companies leading to a noticeable performance hit to the unfavoured company's products. This is somewhat moot nowadays since the current GPU crop has plenty of power to render non-favoured games.
-
Do you know if Assassin's Creed and COD series are developed with a heavy bias toward one the GPU companies?
-
Anyone? <ninjatext>
-
Hmm......I think it should be fine. Screen size will just decrease some productivity, but there is no reason why the program wont run if you have sufficient hardware, which the netbook should have
-
here are my specs, on a lenovo y530:
intel core 2 duo P8600 2.4ghz
nvidia geforce 9500M G 512mb
4gb of DDR3 ram
how well will i be able to run these games (and similar ones):
half-life 2
fallout 3
dead space
left 4 dead
GTA IV (i realize this is a long shot)
thanks everyone -
About to get the Sager NP2096 with these specs:
15.4" WSXGA+ (1680x1050)
Intel P8600 2.4ghz
GeForce 9600M GT 512MB
4GB of DDR2 800 RAM
What are the settings that I can play these games at and still get a very nice FPS rate:
WoW
Team Fortress 2
Counter Strike: Source
Thank you in advance. -
Not for those games, forum-users have not reported severe issues on one company's cards compared to the other.
-
Last 2 maxed, WoW might give you problems with too many things rendered on screen otherwise maxed. Sacrifice shadows first if performance is affecting gameplay for WoW.

Completely agree; my old laptop was a PCWorld special: Advent 9215. 2Gb Ram, T2330 1.6GHz dual core, bog standard in every sense of the word. According to that site, I should not have been able to run Hitman Contracts, Far Cry, heck I shouldn't have even been able to play CoD - But I could, and none were buggy or slow. It would not have been able to keep up with the games nowadays, but it just goes to show that site aint all that and a bag of potato chips ;o)

Hey, I was wondering at what settings I would be able to play Empire: Total War. Thanks in advance!

It's a P-7801u, which is the same as a P-7805u except it has 2.26 Ghz instead of 2.4 Ghz. -
You forgot to mention the graphic card, which is the most important.
. Creed I think you can max out, Fallout not sure, it's a new game. If you have problems, just turn of shadows, as advised already above.
Maxed. -
Your CPU is going to be a serious bottleneck.

Intel GMA 4500MHD = (integrated) graphic card.

I think oblivion on low settings and I'm not sure about unreal tournament 2004 and day of defeat source.
What kind of processor do you have though? -
It is a Intel Pentium T4200

It should run fine in DX7 mode (disables all shaders, only textures and polygons, still looks good though) with high settings, however the lack of dedicated VRAM might mean using medium settings. Try DX7 mode, max screen resolution, max DX7 settings w/o AA, and reduced from there.Juppy said: ↑On what settings does Call of Duty 2 run on my 4500MHD?Click to expand... -

I don't think so. You will have to lower all settings to low and probably lower resolution too. Which you didn't mention as well. But telling me what gpu you have is enough.Satlas said: ↑Intel GMA 4500MHD = (integrated) graphic card.Click to expand...

Can this laptop run GTA4 at decent quality?
-Intel Core2Duo T9500 2.60GHz
-GeForce 8700M GT
-3070 MB Ram (not sure about details)
-WUXGA
And what about this:
-Intel Core2Duo T9300 2.5GHz
-NVIDIA 9800M GTS 1GB DDR3
-4GB DDR2 667MHz
-WUXGA
And finally this:
-Intel Core2Duo T9400 2.53 Ghz
-NVIDIA 9800M GT 512MB DDR3
-4GB DDR3 1066
-WUXGA
These are three laptops I am looking at, possibly to buy one of them and my main game that I am concerned about is GTA4. I also play CS:S and some of the Half-Life episodes but I'm not worried about them with these graphics cards. -
