    HDR = High Dynamic Range
    AA = Anti Aliasing

    No idea what Anostrophic is.

High dynamic range, sorry. Not sure what was running through my mind when I wrote that.

And I assume it's in video settings? It will be in-game.

    Hello,

I asked a similar question a few weeks ago, but I've updated my choices (to two new choices based on availability etc). The two laptops I am considering are:

    HP dv7-2177cl - $999.99
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo P7750 (2.26 GHz)
Screen: 1600x900 17.3” Diagonal HD+ High Definition HP LED BrightView Widescreen
    RAM: 4096MB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
Hard Drive: 500GB (5400RPM) Hard Drive (SATA)
GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 (1 GB)
Optical: LightScribe Blu-Ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD±R/RW Double Layer
    Bluetooth Enabled

    Asus G51VX-RX05 - $1,049.99
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo P7350 (2.00 GHz)
Screen: 1366x768 15.6" WXGA widescreen LED
Hard Drive: 320GB (7200RPM) Hard Drive (SATA)
    RAM: 4GB PC2-6400 DDR2
    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M
    Optical: DVD±RW/CD-RW drive

The only game I really care (a lot) to play is Oblivion. The Asus has the better graphics card, but with the lower processor, would the HP close the gap in playability? How well would either system play Oblivion? I know for a fact that the Asus has a second spot for another internal hard drive. I'm not sure about the HP. It has a "notebook expansion port 3", whatever the heck that is. If there's little to negligible difference in Oblivion between the two, I'd probably get the HP since it has a bigger hard drive, better screen, processor, bluetooth and blu ray.

Also, I have a 1080p TV. If I wanted to spit out 1920x1080 resolution (not necessarily for games though), can both computers handle it?

    Thanks in advance

    wondering how:
    Titan Quest Gold
    Sacred 2 Fallen Angel
    The Last Remnant
    Guild Wars

would run on an Asus G51VX-A1 with Q9000 oc'ed to 2.2 ghz, GTX 260 slightly oc'ed to 550/850/1300, 4 GB DDR2 PC 6400, 1920 x 1080 native res (would be willing to lower res to avoid overheating)

Hi, first post. I'm looking to get a cheap laptop (₤250-300)

I found the Dell Inspiron 1545. I've heard bad things about it's graphics card however. But I was wondering if it could run games like:

    Final Fantasy VII
    Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
    Metal Gear Solid
    Football Manager 2008

    Here are the specs.

    Intel® Celeron® Processor 900 (2.20 GHz, 1MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Basic SP1 - English
    Microsoft® Works 9.0 / English - (Does not include Microsoft® Word)
1 Year Limited Warranty - Collect & Return
    15.6" Widescreen WXGA CCFL (1366 x 768) TFT Display with TrueLife™
    1024MB 800MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM
160GB (5,400rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive
    Intel Integrated GMA 4500MHD
DVD +/- RW Drive (read/write CD & DVD)
    4-cell 24WHr Li-Ion primary battery
    Dell Wireless 1397 Mini Card (802.11 b/g)

    Thanks :)

It should be able to play most older games fine.

If you're looking at running the new MGS thats coming out for PC, then it would have alot of problems doing so.

Hi I'm looking to buy a relatively cheap laptop for college that can also run Empire Total War reasonably well. Is this possible? As far as I can tell the graphics card is the biggest problem so I've been looking at Dells as they have the NVIDIA not the Intel GMA graphics card. Any suggestions would be more than welcome, thanks for the help.

idk, maybe the single core processor, but fifa shouldn't be to demanding. It's probably a driver problem, go dl the latest drivers for your video card.
