@justagurl - I would go with Dell as well, DDR3 RAM and a more powerfull graphic card.

Hello, I have set my sights on this laptop :
Model: MSI CR600-001US
CPU: 2.0GHz Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4200
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 8200M
RAM: 3GB Dual Channel DDR2
Display: 16.0 inch 1366 x 768
I would like to know if it could play these following games on a 1024 x 768 resolution (medium settings) :
Age of Empires 3
Civilization 4
Sins of a Solar Empire
Oblivion
Thanks ! -
as for diablo 2, that will run well.
you cant upgrade graphics, but you can buy a vidock, but they are much more than 60 bucks. -
-
hello, i posted a few days ago, asking about a prospective notebook buy and its chances of playing the sims 3. thanks Harleyquin07 for the reply! Now though, i made the choice of buying this laptop with the following specs:
Model: Asus K40IJ
Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 (2.1 GHz)
2.0 GB RAM
Windows Vista Business
Intel GMA 4500
Game: Sims 3 even in low settings
I took a test online and it said that I passed all requirements except for the cpu speed. Those running vista needs 2.4 GHz CPU speed and i only have 2.1 GHz. So it seems like I can't run it...
However, I found a similar poster in the sims 3 official forum with the same situation. he/she also failed the cpu speed requirement yet she was able to play the game. she has 1.66 GHz. I have 2.1. So is there hope for my notebook to run the game? even in low settings? -

Do you guys think Diablo 3 will run (once it comes out in 2010) on a:
MSI GX623 with 4gb ram, Core 2 Duo P7350 and ATI 4670 512mb DDR3?
Let's say medium settings or so? -

Thanks for your first reply; I have a second model here
Model: MSI CR600-049US
CPU: 2.0GHz Intel Pentium Dual-Core T4200
GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 (dedicated 512MB)
RAM: 4GB Dual Channel DDR2
Display: 16.0 inch 1366 x 768
Same games on a 1024 x 768 resolution (medium settings or higher) :
Age of Empires 3
Civilization 4
Sins of a Solar Empire
Oblivion
Diablo 3 (if possible...)
Thanks again! -
The 4330 is not a good videocard to say the least......
Don't run games at an aspect ratio different from your laptop's native one. It will make everything look distorted and quite horrible.
At best, you can chug along in Diablo 3 with low settings and low resolutions.
The others, its probably runable (more so for the older games) but don't expect anything fantastic -
How about StarCraft 2/Diablo 3?
Stats again:
Model: Dell Studio 15(1555)
Processor:Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 (2.1GHz/800Mhz FSB/2MB cache)
Memory: 4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 800MHz
HardDrive: 320GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
Graphics Card: 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570
Thanks! -
I wanted to run City of Heroes/City of Villains
Stats:
Model: HP 17" Pavilion dv7-1261wm
Processor: AMD Turion X2 mobile processor RM-74 / 2.2 GHz
Memory: 4 GB / 8 GB (max) DDR2 SDRAM
HardDrive: 500 GB - Serial ATA-150 - 5400 rpm
Graphics Card: 512 MB ATI Radeon HD 3650
Thanks! -

Hi!
Will I be able to run Counter Strike 1.6, Counter Strike Source, any Call of Duty, any GTA, any Need for Speed, F.E.A.R, Left4Dead, Crysis?
Here are the specifications of my system:
Toshiba A350-02T
16"
Intel Pentium Dual Core T3400 2.16 Ghz
3 GB RAM
Graphics Card: Intel GMA 4500M
Total Available Graphics Memory: 1340 MB
Dedicated Video Memory: 128 MB
System Video Memory: 0 MB
Shared System Memory: 1212 MB -
You will, but on low settings and resolution. That is not a graphic card for gaming.
-
cs:s low
cod 1 + 2 should run on medium - high
nfs anything before most wanted should run well
F.E.A.R. - low
left 4 dead - not gonna happen
crysis - not gonna happen -
COD4 on low settings -
I wanted to run City of Heroes/City of Villains
Stats:
Model: Dell - Studio Laptop S1440-022B
Processor: Intel® Core2 Duo 2.1GHz
Memory: 3GB DDR3
HardDrive: 320GB Serial ATA (5400 rpm)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
Thanks! -

Makes sense cause if I put view distance above 25% my fps drops below 30
-
*sigh*
Can i run super smash bros brawl at around 30fps (someone said 45 was pushing it) on my laptop (sig)?
Also, if its running laggy, will lowering the resolution help or will it stay the same, cuz in melee at 800x600 and 1024x768 the fps stayed the same, the lag was the same amount.... -
HollywoodLights Notebook Consultant
Specs for my lappy in sig.
For some reason I am loving a gaming series I never thought I would MEDAL OF HONOR, which now has me in love with FPS games. So here is my question
Tom Clany's Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter
(Local store selling it on sale, five bucks) -

Hi, I was thinking about getting a Toshiba Tecra M3 and with the following specs:
CPU- Intel Pentium M 780- 2.13Ghz
GPU- Nvidia GeForce 6600 w/ 128mb dedicated vram
RAM- 1 GB DDR2
SCREEN- 14.1" screen, SXGA+ (1400 x 1050)
Sooo... I was wondering if I could play the following games and at what settings:
1. The Sims 3
2. Age of Empires 3
3. GTA: San Andreas
4. Left 4 Dead
5. GTA 4
6. Roller Coaster Tycoon 3
SO what do you think?
Thanks in advance,
Dylan -
DS1, I doubt you'll be able to play any aside from RCT3 and AoE3. That's some pretty outdated tech for a "Gaming" laptop.

AOE and RCT3 will run good
GTASA will run on low or meduim
GTA4 will not run at all
L4D probably low or not run at all
The Sims 3 low or meduim settings -
@DS1395 - Don't even think of buying it unless it's for a case of beer.
-
Can I run on this GTA IV, Godfather II, Pure, GRID, Far Cry 2, Burnout Paradise? (tell me also settings)
CPU: Intel® Core2 Duo T6500 2 x 2.16 GHz 2MB Cache 45 nm Penryn
GPU: GeForce GT 130M 1GB
RAM: 4096 MB DDR3 [2 x 2048 MB]
Display: 17,3" CineCristal LED WXGA+ 1680x1050
The notebook is Acer Aspire 7738 AS7738G-654G32M.
Thank in advance. -
Alrighty then, I wasn't purchasing this as a hardcore gaming laptop! I was purchasing it to do some light gaming, i was just asking about Left 4 Dead and GTA 4 because I was curious....
"(grbac) @DS1395 - Don't even think of buying it unless it's for a case of beer."
^ that makes absolutely NO sense, you should think about what you're saying before you say it
Look, my point is, I was thinking about picking one of these up for about $250-275 as an alternative to a $400 crappy netbook with Atom and GMA 950 (that wouldn't even be able to play ANY games, and would be WAY slower than this) So I'm pretty sure that this is a really good buy for me.... -
DS, for $250 that is a good deal, and I would probably buy one if I needed a notebook for web browsing and such. What they were saying is that it's definitely not going to handle any modern games.
-
Yes, for $250 it is a great deal....
Okay, I was totally aware that it wouldn't play modern games (like I said I was just curious about GTA4 and Left 4 Dead)
But thanks anyways... -
No problem. If it's in good condition, $250 seems fair. Should work fine for everyday use, along with light gaming. (Though all the uber-freaks will bash their banter because it doesn't have a GX260M)
-
I know..I hate that, you say you want to do some light gaming, and they think you need dual GTX 280m SLIs
lol
But ya, I really like everything about this notebook.... -
