    DS1395 - Sorry if I sounded mean or offensive, my point was that you shouldn't buy it for gaming unless it is very cheap.

    Hey, I was wondering at what settings I would be able to play Left 4 Dead, CoD4, and Mass Effect on each of these 3. I would like to be able to play ME2 when it comes out as well.

    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T6500 (2.10 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 Cache)
    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M (don't know how much VRAM it has)
    RAM: 4GB 1066MHz DDR3
    Display: 1366x768

    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T6500 (2.10 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 Cache)
    GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 1GB DDR3
    RAM: 4GB 800MHz DDR2
    Display: 1366x768

    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P8600 (2.40 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB, 3 MB L2 Cache)
    GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon 3650 256MB DDR3
    RAM: 2GB 1066MHz DDR3

    go with the middle one, it has a worse processor, but for gaming it has the best gpu. anywho, left 4 dead - high, cod 4 - high, mass effect - max/high, mass effect 2 will run

    Yeah I figured the 4650 with 1GB DDR3 would have no problem with any of them. Does anyone know anything the GT 130M? I haven't been able to find much information on it.

    One more question. As I understand it, Intel CPUs are better than AMD but I would like to know if there would be any performance difference between these two,

    CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T6500 (2.10 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 Cache)
    GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 1GB DDR3
    RAM: 4GB 800MHz DDR2
    Display: 1366x768

    CPU: AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM-85 Dual-Core Mobile Processor (2.30GHz, 2MB Cache)
    GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 1GB DDR3
    RAM: 4GB 800MHz DDR2

    I have some choices to look at for my new gaming PC. It's not going to be totally uber, but I want it to be able to run games like crysis at high or better.

    These are my options :
    1) $1000
    * 2.5 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo T9300
    * 2048MB Ram
    * 200GB Harddisk
    * Nvidia Quadro FX3600M – 1GB+ Skjermkort
    * 17” Widescreen Skjerm Med 1680x1050 Oppløsning.

    2) $650
    Prosessor AMD Athlon™ X2 Dual-Core prosessor for bærbare PCer QL-60
    1,9 GHz, Nivå 2-cache 1 MB
    Minne 4096 MB (2 x 2048 MB)
    Skjerm 17" WXGA+ High Definition BrightView Widescreen
    Oppløsning: 1440 x 900
    Video ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450-grafikk

    3) $1650¨

    * 15.4" Widescreen skjerm 1920x1200 oppløsning (Full HD)
    * GeForce 8800M GTX
    * Intel Core 2 Duo P9500 @ 2,53 GHz
    * DDR3 1066MHz SO-DIMM RAM - 4Gb

    4) $1830

    15.4" Widescreen WUXGA 1920x1200 blank skjerm
    INTEL CORE 2 DUO T9600 2.8GHz 1066MHz 6MB
    G.Skill 4GB DDR3 SO-DIMM 1066MHz (2x2GB)
    NVIDIA® GeForce® 9800gt DDR3 skjermkort
    Intel® Turbo Memory 2GB

    I really want the most bang per buck in the graphic department.

    Option #1 looks really good except for the 2 gigabytes of ram.

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...=asus&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1218092150636
    better gpu than all of them...and cheaper.

    Yeah I see what you mean, the GTX 260M blows the others out of the water and it has a very sweet price.

    My problem is that I live in Norway, and I don't want to ship my laptop to the US if it breaks.

    Here in Norway new laptops are really expensive, I mean you can't find any laptop with a 260M for less than $2000 -_-.

    I'm gonna keep looking though, there's gotta be something out there :p

    Here everyone is crazy for the netbooks though, you find asus EEE(or whatever this crap is called) for like 150$(used)

    I got a question about the graphic cards that I'm considering.

    How do the Ati 4850/70M and the Nvidia GTX 260/80M Perform relative to each other, and what card is their closest desktop equivalent?

    I have a Studio XPS 13 and I was wondering what (2006-2009) games would be ideal to play on it ? (I currently only have COD4). The specs are:

    IntelCore2Duo P8600 @ 2,4GHz
    4GB DDR3 RAM
    NVIDIA 9500M (9400M + 9200M in SLI)

    Thanks

    p.s I love RTS games, and I only like BF and COD when it comes to FPS

    From the benchmarks I have seen, the amd cpus don't hold a candle to the intels cpu(in terms of performance).

    Although you hear people say that the graphic cards is all that matters, don't misunderstand. A fast CPU is very helpful and does improve your fps to a certain extent.

    It is especially in the lower performance segments that improving the CPU power makes a difference, and going from say a 1.5 Ghz to a 3Ghz(Let's say the cpus are the same model), will in some games give a noticeable boost to performance.

    Now once you reach that kind of baseline power, the increase in cpu power starts to diminish very quickly as your games will very rarely be CPU bound anymore.

    So say increasing from a 3Ghz to a 4Ghz would have minimal effect compared to improving your graphic card.

    Overall, the GPU is of course still the biggest difference maker, but if you want max performance, you need at least some decent CPU power to go with it.

    Allright, I don't know if I worded myself correctly or if I'm 100% right here, but it's what I've gathered from the little research I have done.

    If the choice is between a faster GPU or a faster CPU, in almost all cases should you pick the one with a faster GPU

    the 260 is on par with the desktop 9800gt and the 280 with the 9800gtx
    the 4870 is about a desktop 4850 and the laptop 4850 is about a 4830.

    i would defenitely go with the 8800 gtx though out of the options you listed, it is still a fantastic video card. its equivalent to the desktop 8800 gs.

    i dont think the 9400 + 9200 in sli = the 9500, as far as i know its just hybrid sli which switches between dedicated (9400) and the integrated graphics (9200) depending on what you are doing to save battery life.

    anywho games wise: you should be able to run cod4 at about med/low. most rts should run, but it would probably be on low settings (for modern ones like coh)

    GPU looks similar to my previous desktop with the ProSavage GPU. Yes, it can run Simcity 4 but expect some hiccups every now & then while scrolling & zooming.

    EDIT: Please post in the right thread, specifically in the "Can You Run It" thread for questions like this. Thank you.

    ViaChrome... wow, haven't seen one of those in a long time. Can't see you doing any gaming on that computer, aside from Flash games.

    It means to make it run slower and use less power therefore creating less heat overall...
