go right ahead. I'm looking to keep the final price as low as possible and it has to be available to canadian customers. As long as it runs my demands, I'm happy. Fake numpad is a bonus if possible![]()
Thanks

ahh man, I thought empire for sure would run max or high
and street fight too.
whats holding em back, is it the processor or what. -
both of those will perform about the same
bf2 - high/max?
sims 3 - high
fallout 3 - high
half life 2 - max
spore - high
dont worry about gaming on these laptops, they will run any modern game at med-high settings. -
Cheers mate, do you think a 1GB GPU would be beneficial over the 512MB one?
Aside from that a Blu-Ray drive is the only real difference and I'm sure I could add that later if I really wanted. -
Okay, so what do I need to run all those games at max and/or 1920x1200?
-
A much, much stronger GPU.
-
both the proc and the gpu are a little low, street fighter 4 might actually run at high, 1920x1200 is hard to pull for all but very high end gpus, and yours is smack dab middle end. empire is a newer rts and requires alot of processing power as well as a great gpu. crysis right now i dont believe any laptop can pull max settings and resolution. if you want great settings on everything try to get a laptop with at least gtx 260m and t8600. (note, not even these will get you max settings and res on every modern game)
-
a 1gb gpu will add a very small difference, maybe 1-2 fps. your card cant actually use 1gb to its full ability as its only a 128bit card, it will use about 256 mb, and both have more than that. however, benchmarks ive seen for stuff like that still show a very small difference with added vram. if you want blu ray go for the one with that, otherwise go for the cheaper one.
-
Wow, can anyone suggest a brand of ntoebooks that have the gtx 260m or greater with the 2.4ghz intel or higher cpu in it
-
Hey spidey, You can try out the alienware 17X or whatever its called or go with a sager or msi.
-
cool, thanks, any ummm cheaper models that wont financially rape me.
-
try this: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9366615&type=product&id=1218092150740
if you need a 15": http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9366651&type=product&id=1218092150636
the second one isnt quite as powerful but both will run almost every modern game at near max to max settings. -
DivineRiku, why don't you fill out the FAQ and post in the What Notebook Should I Buy forum? This thread isn't really the most appropriate place for these questions.
-
well i already bought the one i was talking about with the turion processor like a few days ago. But dont fear I just needed those few questions answered thank you for your time.
-
Ah ok, gotcha.
-
Quick question, im playing a game which prop cant be discussed here, and its irrelevant anyways- but point being I get an average of 20-29 fps while playing, but I get that fps no matter what settings I use(native reso, or 1440x900), 2-8x an. filtering, etc. i still get 20-29 fps, so does that mean my cpu is bottlenecking my gpu for this game? Or am I missing something
-
If you have v-sync on, it limits your FPS to 30. That could be the reason why.
-
Nah, and fps is stuck below 30 anyways, 20-29, 50-60's in menus
-
Well, that sounds exactly like v-sync (limits FPS to 60 if computer can consistently output that high). But if it's not on, then it must be another issue, but you'll have to look elsewhere for help since I don't feel like helping you out with a game that (sounds like) was obtained illegally.
-
Wasent obtained illegally I own it, (Brawl) im jus playing it on my comp cause my sister destroyed my wii(long stupid story)
-
Ah, ok. Well that's still a gray are topic, so we don't talk about that here, sorry.
-
How about Deadspace?
-
about high.
-
just wanted to throw this up there just in case nobody has tried, but my asus g71gx-rx05 from bb runs cod4,waw,guildwars,wow,sacred2(important as for some odd reason doesn't run on my desktop with 3 gtx285's), and pretty much every game i can throw at it. If anybody would like to see performance numbers for this laptop, send me a tell with a game you'd like me to try and i'll compile a huge list of screens and give numbers.

can the sony vaio sr series play future fps like cod:mw2 or l4d2?
runs a c2d 2.53ghz p8700
ati mobility 4570 hd 512mb
13.3" Screen1
1280 x 800 Resolution
and off topic question, if i buy an xbox360, can i somehow connect it to my notebook to use the screen as the display? -
I can't tell you exactly how they'll run (because neither are out yet), but they should both run well on that computer, especially at that resolution.
No, notebooks do not have a video input; they only have video outputs, sorry. -
thank you very much. =)
-
You're welcome!
And welcome to NBR
-
can u estimate how long will it last? by that i mean how long before i cant play the newest fps on the market?
-
Ah, that's a tough question. The processor will be fine and will last you several years, however you'll be bottlenecked by your GPU. You should get about two years of solid gameplay with new titles until you really have to start cranking the settings down. But, that really depends on if game developers push graphics to the edge (like Crysis) or not.
-
It should run on High to max settings since MW2 is going to be using the same game engine as COD4. Also im not sure about L4D2 my guess maybe it will run on max settings
-
My guess is probably meduim to high settings its looks pretty demanding though
-
Can i run Stalker CS at high settings with this:
MSI 627-293nl
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 p8600
4gb ram
9800m gs ddr3
15,4 1680 x 1050 (not necessarily at this settigs) -
well by looking at the recommended system requirements im pretty sure your 9800m gs has adequate performance to play this game rather well.......
so yes it can maybe some one can correct me on this even though im 99.9% sure..............
Recommended:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 / AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+,
1GB RAM
DirectX 9.0c compatible 256MB graphics card nVidia GeForce 7900 / ATI Radeon X1900
4x DVD-ROM
128kbps Internet connection for multiplayer
Minimum:
Intel Pentium 4 2000 MHz / AMD Athlon XP 2000+
512MB RAM
6GB hard disk space
DirectX 8.1 compatible 128MB graphics card nVidia GeForce 3 / ATI Radeon 9200
DirectX 9 compatible soundcard -
could an amd turion x2 ultra (2.3ghz) , 4gb ram, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 (dedicated 512mb) run games like assasins creed, gta IV, prototype, batman arkham asylum ?
or a intel core 2 duo with 2ghz, 3gb ram, and nvidia geforce 9600M GT with dedicated 512mb? -
gtaIV is cpu intensive so neither option will run that game very well, the GT 9600m is the more powerful gpu and because i don't think you will notice too much difference between the AMD @2.3ghz and the Intel @2ghz, depending on screen resolution i think the second option will give you better gaming performance. those games will be able to be played but you will need to drop the settings.

I desperatley need some help guys/gals. I need to pick between two computers to run World of Warcraft wrath of the lich king. My father won't let me use his computer any more so..............yeah lol. Here are the two laptops. I just need a laptop that will play world of warcraft (wotlk) on medium to high settings and be a decent laptop. These are both used also (refurbished) do you all believe that is ok? I am only 15 so I don't have much of a choice. My father said I am allowed a laptop under 600 bucks lol.

I am guessint System 2 is the ASUS F50SF-xa1 from newegg. I just got the computer a little while ago it is a nice computer but I still have to test it with newer games. I was thinking about trying Fallout 3 GOTY edition when it comes out.
-
I'm not sure we should revive this thread but I would go with the second option.
-
The Second one is much better graphically, the 8600 gs is quite a bit better than the 9300. the second one should run wow @ high settings minus maybe some view distance and some shadow quality at native res.
what? revive this thread? its a sticky. -
Thank you very much for your help. I appreciate it all feedback.
AJ -
LoL alright sorry i'm brand new to these forums and I got to this thread through a google search. I just noticed the last posts were old so I figured it was dead.
-
lol no problem
-

-
probably med at native res, and yes there is a monthly fee.
-
ooo any other good mmo's tht doesn't have monthly fee? other than guild wars. and is tht med for my gaming rig?
-
it would probably be high/max on your gaming rig. i dont know any GOOD free mmos.
-
I wanted to run City of Heroes/City of Villains
