It maybe a refresh rate problem and enabling AA/AF in game is fine.

Hi guys
i was wondering if a 9200gs can play BAA on the lowest settings, my friend's birthday's coming up and he's a huge batman fan but he only have a 9200gs on his laptop. and since it's a surprise party i can't really let him download the demo and find it out that way. -
il see if i can download it and run it on my PC with no overclock. i will report back with results. i have 9200 gs ddr2. what framerates do you want? 30 will be a challenge on anything other than minimum i reckon, but 20-25 might be do-able. il see whats playable.
-
ok, just tested the demo out, (took me half an hour to find out where it had installed the bloody launcher) and it runs pretty well on the 9200 gs at stock clocks. didnt try the overclock. ran at 55 degrees propped up on bottle tops, so make sure he has some sort of stand for it else it will cook to 70.
i set it to medium settings, native res (1280x800) to start, and it ran ok, at about 15 fps, which was strangely playable. i then quit and changed the settings to reduced res (960x600 to retain the 16:10 aspect ratio) and low graphics, and it ran at a fairly consistant 25fps, peaking to 30 sometimes, dropping to 18 at others.
by the way, it still looked mighty impressive even at those reduced graphics. you could probably drop the resolution even more if needed.
only problem is you cant change the graphics settings while your playing the demo, you have to quit and start it again. i completed the demo without getting annoyed at the framerate, so i think anything around 20 is perfectly playable for this game. V-sync locks it at 30 anyway.
hope that helps, and i hope he likes the game!
right, im off to uninstall 2gb of batman demo now. btw it downloaded in 10 minutes. GO 50MB/s BROADBAND, GO!! lol. -
wow, i couldn't expected more help, mighty appreciated!
-
Fyi, 70 degrees is far from cooking, and is considered very cool for a GPU under heavy load.

What can my notebook run ?
C2D 2.5
6gb win7 64b
Hd4650 underclocked( 450/600 )
...
What the most beautiful game can i play with no lag ... ? = ) -
Lower the resolution to 1280x720, and you will be able to run any game of your choosing, at a mix of medium/high settings.
-
Hi guys
How well will MSI GT628 and Asus G51VX-A1 run Crysis without overclocking ?
I am not sure which one to get
thanks -
please put the specs next time. ummm... the msi im pretty sure has a 160m and the asus has a 260m. the 260 is slightly better than the 160. there isnt a huge difference there. both should run crysis at high settings w/out overclocking. i would go for the asus though.
-
Crysis is not that demanding game. The MSI will run it better - check 3Dmark results and in-game information.
-
crysis is the MOST demanding game...right now anyway.
-
MSI has WSXGA+ on 15.4" and 160M and ASUS has WUXGA on 15.6" and 260M. Considering all that I think MSI will do just about the same as ASUS.
That is, of course if playing on native res. -
I have a T400, specs in sig, any chance that it will run Empire: Total War? The minimum specs that I found for the game are;
Operating System: Windows XP 32(service pack 2), Windows Vista 32 OS.
Processor: 2.4 GHz Single Core Intel or AMD equivalent processor.
System Memory: 1GB RAM (XP) 2GB RAM (Vista).
Graphics Card: 256MB DirectX 9.0c compatible video card (shader 2.0 or higher).
Sound Card: Directx9.0c compatible sound card.
Windows compatible mouse & keyboard.
15 GB free uncompressed hard drive space.
Any advice is appreciated! -
Yeah, you would run it just fine
at medium settings.
-
Wow, so wrong.

8600M Gs
2G Ram
2.1 core2duo T8100
Windows vista Sp2 -
State please your screen resolution, that makes it more correct... Anyway NFS probably some low to medium settings. Sims 3, yesand I don't know about Street Fighter.
-
I tested the demo on my Studio 1537 (uses the 3450 card) and found it playable, but ugly:
http://optimitza.cat/news/2009/06/23/empire-total-war-in-low-end-laptops/
The 3470 is a bit faster than the 3450, but I seriously doubt you can run it at Medium settings. -
Hi, I was just wondering if my laptop could play left 4 dead. I would like to know before I buy it from steam. I have a dell Vostro 1400:
CPU:Intel Core2 Duo T7250 @ 2.00 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
RAM:2046 MB (not sure what type)
Thanks guys! -
oh, and my screen resolution is 1440 by 900, if you need that
-
okay the spec again

I have a great deal on a HP Elitebook 8530w, but I'm not too sure about the graphics, since I'd like to be able to play games on it too.
Specs:
CPU: Intel Core2 Duo T9600 2.8 Ghz
GPU: nVidea FX770M 512MB
RAM: 4096MB (pretty sure its 800mhz DDR2)
Native res 1680x1050
Games, I'd like to be able to play recent games at decent detail settings and pretty high fps. (no lower than 45 ish)
I have no idea what these graphics cards are capable of gaming wise, so any help would be appreciated. -
@kazzaz - Prognosis stays the same. You could lower you resolution down for one level, however that would make it bloory.
That card is in range of Nvidia 9600M GT. It would be good for you if it is with DDR3. So you'll be able to play at decent settings but not too high, depending on the game requirements. One other thing is that that card is not made for but for 3D software usage. But that can be rectified with drivers. I think. Anyway, don't expect too much. -
Hi All,
Was wondering if my specs can run Resident Evil 5, and if so at what settings. Here are my stats again:
Model: HP Dv7t
Resolution: 1600 X 900
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T6500
GPU: ATI Mobility Radeon 1GB 4650 DDR3
Memory: 4GB DDR2 800Mhz
Harddrive: 500 GB 5400 rpm
Thanks -
You should download and run the RE5 benchmark. Use the Variable test.
-
If I get a 8600M GT for my vostro 1500,will I be able to play these:
-Crysis/Warhead
-NFS Shift
-COD MW2
-Prototype
-batman asylum
-red fraction guerrilla -
You shouldn't have any problem playing those games. Just don't expect to be playing on high settings. Low to medium settings would be more appropriate.
-
Just a quick check about GTA IV.
I think I can at least run it at Low settings on my HDX18 (see sig), but how low would I have to go for a decent framerate at 1920x1080? I'm trying to avoid having to use 1280x720 but if I have to I will. I care more about framerate than how the game looks though, and if I need to, I can tweak settings once I get it. -
trust me, you can play it on medium. I play it on medium on MSI GX620x P8400 GeForce 9600m GT
-
Hi everyone,
Am new to these forums but I have a question.
What Laptop would run games faster and if possible could you give a example of a recent game (only if possible, am sorry if it's asking for too much)
This one:
* AMD Athlon X2 Ultra Dual-Core QL-62 (2.0-2.4 (turbo enabled)) Ghz 1 mb L2 Cache - (3600 Mhz FSB)
* 15.4" WXGA+ (1280 x 800) Widescreen Enhanced Glare TFT Display
* Mobile Nvidia Express NV MCP77 Chipset Family
* Nvidia Geforce 130 M GT 512MB DDR 3 + Turbo Cashe technology- Microsoft DirectX 10 support
* 4 Gigs of DDR 2 memory 800mhz
* 320 Gb SATA HDD @ 7200 RPM
Or this one:
CPU Type Intel Core 2 Duo T9550 2.66Ghz 6MB cache 1066MHz FSB
Screen 17" WXGA+ 1400x900
Memory Size 4GB DDR2
Hard Disk 400GB 5400RPM
Graphics Card ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650
Video Memory 1GB DDR3
Thanks! -
Hmm..That HD4650 would blow away that 130 nvidia card.So get the second laptop if your trying to futureproof or run games at max settings. But dont forget that ATI is releasing its GDDR5 cards with DX 11 soon, so i would wait if I were you.
-
Thanks for the quick reply! I would wait for DX11 cards but my budget is currently stuck at around $850 so yeah.
-
Go with a g50vt refurbished and upgrade the processor yourself...Bingo..One of the fastest laptops in your budget!
-
Extremely awesome tip! thanks!
-
Brendanmurphy Your Worst Nightmare
Go with the second laptop the 4650 is one of the best if not the best graphics card in the Mid Range Category -
Can my laptop run COD4?
Even tho its an integrated 9400mgs( i think it runds on gdd3/or ddr3)
Im able to play crysis on low settings. with 30-35fps. How well will I be able to play cod4?
My specs are in signature. Thanx -
You should be able to play COD4 on Medium settings
-
wow thanx, I guess 9400mg isnt all that S***Y
-
most cards now adays arent terrible, as long as they are dedicated. i think modern dedicated gpus all can play any modern game, with lower settings though
-
you mean integrated. dedicated are the good ones. But ye I guess your right. It would be nice to have a card like one in my ps3 lol
-
nope, i meant what i said, i never said dedicated are the bad ones, far from it, i said most modern dedicated cards would be able to play every game out there.
oops. see what you mean. the 9400 is integrated i guess. that suprised me. -
Hey everyone.
Below are the specs from the website where I'm going to buy my new laptop.
Win7 (64bit)
Corei7 1.73ghz 820QM
320gb 7200 RPM HDD (Are SSD reliable? Would they increase gaming performance? Is it worth the money to spring for one?)
Bluray
GTX280M
4gb ram 1333mgz(This is one of my questions. Is 4gb ram enough? The most graphics intensive activity on my laptop would be gaming...should I go for 6gb ram or is 4 enough? Also, is 1x4gb ram better than 2x2 gb ram? Why?)
1920x1080 resolution (Will a higher resolution lower performance?)
The games I'm planning to run are
Empire Total War, Medieval 2 Total War
Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 (when released)
Sins of a Solar Empire
Star Wars Empires at War
Civ 4
Fallout 3
Dragon Age Origins (when it comes out)
Hearts of Iron III
X3 Terran Conflict
Will they all run at high or max settings? Also, is this laptop future proof, by that I mean will it run anything for at least 2 years?
I really appreciate any help. This is going to be my first new laptop in over 4 years...so I'm a little wary...But with the recently released Clarksfields I think I'm ready to finally make the leap. -
1. ssd's are reliable, but they wont bring up gaming performance, just speed up load times. i would stick with the one you have, it is fine, ssd's arent worth the money imo.
2. 4gb ram is more than enough, dont waste your money on 6 or 8. also 1x4 and 2x2 have very little difference performance wise, 2x2 may be better cause it would be dual channel. but 1x4 means the ability to add more.
3. higher res means lower performance, but you can lower it in game settings if you are not getting the performance you want. i would stay with the high res.
4. all those games should run at high or max settings
5. it is future proof for about 2-3 years at high settings, after that it should be fine for another 2-3 years at med/low settings. the next game that should push the graphics limits are either doom 4 or rage and i dont think those are expected out till like 2011. -
which one between those 2 will run games like Oblivion, Fallout 3, COD 4, 5... better?
Laptop 1: AMD® Athlon ™ 64X2 Dual-Core QL65( 2*2.10GHz, 1Mb L2, FSB 3600Mhz), 2GB DDR2 667mhz with an ATI 4570 (DDR2 version I think)
Laptop 2: Intel® Dual-Core T4200 (2 x 2.0GHz, 1MB L2 cache,800MHz FSB), 2GB DDR3 with a NVIDIA g105m. -
laptop one by a long shot.
-
Then can the laptop 1 survive GTA4? If yes, how well can it pull GTA4? (at what setting? How many FPS?)
-
probably medium settings at around 30
-
at what setting/res can my computer run wolfenstein (and fps if possible)
asus g50vt-x1(best buy)
2.26 ghz dual core intel
9800 geforce gt (says gs on sticker, gt everywhere else) 512mb
4gb ram
320 hard drive
vista sp1 home premium 64 bit
