    lol.. nice one.

the only explanation i can think of is:

Somehow someone might think Crysis is better than Gears of War because while you're playing Gears of War, someone is blowing smoke from weed onto your display making it hard to see the game, and ultimately you arrive at the conclusion that smoking weed is the cause of liking Crysis over gears of war :spinny:

It was free, but if you look at what they said, this is the last of 5 sets of beta keys being given away and they're only for subscribers.

CRFfred, do you mind if I turn this thread into the official Crysis demo discussion thread? I'd like to have a place to consolidate the chatter that is going to result from the demo's release.

    Beautiful screenshots by the way.

I'm not even going to try this demo on my laptop because it probably won't run . . . I don't think I meet the system requirements.

Fortunately I built myself a powerful desktop system to run this game on, but UNfortunately my GTX almost fried itself so I had to RMA it and it arrives Tuesday. So I have to wait until then to play.

Thats what I wanted to do, but dont have the funds right now. A q6600 oced to about 3ghz and a 8800gtx (or an ultra sometimes they are on sale for the same price)

Waiting it out tho the next cpu war may end with some good things for us and the next gen of cards should be 2x stronger they say and that means maybe finally dx10 will be an option :p

I was very close on pulling the trigger for a 2900pro tho for like 200$ a slightly underclocked 2900xt that can in most cases be overclocked back to full speed. Then I realized tho it may go to waist in my rig with my opteron 148.

Anyone know if running it in DX 10 with DX 10 graphic cards causes an increase in performance or decrease from running it in DX 9

and also if running it in XP DX9 is slower or faster then Vista DX 9

will add rep if anyone is willing to test this out (mostly interested in the vista dx 9 vs dx 10)

Really? When I play Virtua Tennis 3 with Vsync turned on and framerate capped at 30, I notice a VERY BIG difference in smoothness of motion compared to when it was running at 60 FPS. 30 FPS is like smooth to me. 60 FPS is like buttery, flowy and liquid-like smooth.

Sayonara to my hopes of ever running Crysis on my Geforce Go 6600. Seems like the requirements are even higher than that of Bioshock which is taking its toll on my machine at 1024x640 low-medium settings.

30fps is definitely noticeable vs 60fps depending on how fast the game moves, fps games are a prime suspect because the whole environment shifts when you look around. A game thats say overhead scroller you probably couldn't notice at all.

I can already tell you that XP will run Faster than Vista and DX9 will run faster than DX10.

I couldn't tell you specifically at the moment, though I'd get around to testing. I'm sure there are sites abound that have tested that already though.

Alright well after looking myself, I couldn't find any current stuff, but look out on forums and stuff. If I remember I'll post stuff, but I'm lazy.

    Those with DX10 cards:

My 8700m's playable capacity with this demo is 1440x900 (1920x1200 is native res) with mostly high and a couple set to medium, no AA.

Don't expect to beat that unless you got an SLI setup (lucky bastard... I regret having not gone for the SLI rig).

I'm running it on my Quad(2.4GHz), 8800GTX(650MHz/1000MHz), 4GB(1066MHz) and its on Very High spec except Post Processing. I have on 2xAA and it's at 1360x768 and it averages 45FPS, lowest being 30. I'm going to test it soon on a friends XPS 1730. It seems like its a bit more hardware intensive that some may have believed.

Does anyone else felt that it is hard to score a kill in crysis? especially if you are faraway..that assault rifles became so inaccurate. The only way to score an easy kill is to headshot or sneaky up on the enemy otherwise the enemy can really takes some punishment when you go head on with them. Plus, I like to kill enemy from a long distance, the inaccuracy of the rifle, and the tiny head of the Korean, plus lags makes it really hard for me to score a kill. Oh did I mention, once you get spotted, the enemy seems to be really accuate with their weapons regardless how far you are as long as you are within their "sighting' range? Does anyone else felt this way?A
