im getting FPS lag even on medium settings and 800x600. Its rediculous! What are the best graphics settings you've used to play this game on the 8600?
-
You may want to try the newest crysis drivers released by laptopvideo2go.com. I believe they are 169.01. Also, it seems that playable frames are achieved on 8600GT at low settings, and medium settings if DX10 is turned off.

It just looks so AMAZING!
Looks like theres no spoiler tags or anything to hide the pics to prevent page stretching. -

will this game run at 800X600 on go 7400??? its on my other vaio laptop...
-
you may be better waiting to get a more accurate response on the actual release date when it may be better optimized.
you might be able to pull off the lowest possible settings at that resolution, try the demo, it's free -
k...anyway i am planning to build a gaming desktop..notebook i ll keep for casual gaming...
-
hey it ll run at 800X600 with 25 fps with 169 driver and 2 GB DDR2...
(all this on go 7400) -
The games runs decently (sorry no FRAPs) at 1024*768 at med settings on Toshiba x200 probably got up the resolution a bit too, the game looks awesome even at med settings, the enemy is pretty darn realisitic too. I have one BIG problem and i would really appreciate very very much if someone could help me out with this...there is no audio whatsoever in the game, all my other apps UT3 demo, movies, Bioshock run fine and with audio, but not the Crysis SP demo, please give me some ideas guys i have no idea what to do...
-
Well, since you already found it, I guess my advice can be used as feature reference, all the games you installed will be listed there, most of them at least.
-
eh 8600gs 169.01 vista 32bit. The game runs at like 15fps 800resolution med settings. dissapointed *sigh*
-
-
Thought it would be cool to see all of the Crysis screenshots out there on different systems and settings....
Resolution at 1690x1050
Desktop specs are the sig... i've played around with settings and it seemed that these settings were the best balance between FPS and quality. I could have put a few more on high but during firefights it lags. I got around 35 fps average checking out the landscapes and whatno and it only dropped to about 18-20 during explosions and firefights. I'd say about 26-30 for battling a few enemies with no explosions and such. Beautiful game... my girlfriend who hates video games even said "wow what is that game? that looks awesome!"
-
What there is a sun in the game???? I play everything on low except the sound which is on high. The gameplay run smooth and I average like 30fps.
My specs are:
2.0 GHZ AMD Turion
1gig RAM
x1600 256DDR -
uuuuuuuuuooooooooowwwwww *drool* i hate u man.
I HAVE VISTA BUT HOW CAN I RUN THIS ON DX9? -
To run in DX9 mode in Vista
bring up console by pressing ~
type in "r_driver=DX9" without quotes and hit enter -
is there any graphic card and config which will let us play crysis on highest settings and still keep the FPS 60+ ??
asking coz i am buying a graphic card soon and wont be changing for next 2 yrs. -
-
-
Now that nvidia is talking about coming out with the next series, it still would be wise to wait.....but I doubt the next series will be out by the end of this year.
ALTHOUGH, someone please prove me wrong. I do want to upgrade my video card by the end of the year too. -
YES!!!! YESSSS CRYSIS!!!! LOL jk jk jk
Anyways... anyone please contact me if you can run Crysis at the highest possible, like high-very high settings 1280*800 or higher
I just hope I can get a 8800gtx sli lappie for under 2000$ by christmas -
if your using vista and want improved performance - USE DIRECT X 9
go into games and right click crysis and click "play directx9"
medium settings were running low 20's, now with dx9 its in mid 30's most time!!! -
Ok I updated the first post
Crysis SP Demo:
As you can see, Crysis might not be as hardware demanding as you would think.... but will require at least a current mid-range videocard to play at low. My 1.5 year old notebook still plays it fine. And the DirectX9 still looks amazing.
Thoughts on differences between Beta and Official release:
- the game is still stunning in DX9
- the performance is still not as optimized as I would like and compared to other next-gen shooters like UT3 (I have to set it to Low-Medium for good performance and quality)
- the Beta was much buggier (as expected) than the Official demo
- in the official demo, you can break trees and see your arms pick up weapons and objects
- the demo was quite easy (even at highest difficult), the AI was not great, and the Beta gave you the experience to run and gun the entire demo... especially if you know how to use Cloak and switch to Strength to punch an enemy in the head. (I beat it without using a bullet in the last run)
Post your pics (with your FPS and specs) -
I am pretty darn happy with the performance of my system. I am getting great FPS with High settings and 1600x1200 res. And with only one CPU core being used at the moment, when they tweak the final release I am sure they will fix this problem and multiple core users will benifit.

I, as well as everyone else, wished to have a Clevo D901C beast.
Have you set the game your native 1920x1200 WUXGA resolution yet?
- I want to know how it performs.
- I set mine to 1920x1200 (seen in my pics)... still good at Low-Medium settings
I like to play things at native to avoid ugly stretches... and to not need AA. -
Crap - Didn't realize it just used only one core right now. Dual core should shoot the FPS's up a good 20-30% I would hope. Considering the 169.01 drivers seem to improve overall performance as well is a good sign. Although I haven't been able to trial it because the "XP 32-bit" drivers at laptopvideo2go are porked at the moment.
-
when would it run with both cores? its only running one?
-
you see that it actually uses both cores... but that fully utilizing them.
Usually floats around 60% on both cores for me... as compared to 100% on both when I play UT3 demo. -

Please do not post huge pictures in the forums, I had horizontal scrolling even on my 1680x1050 screen.

I try not to... i use thumbs and resized pics.

I don't think you will ever get a 8800GTX SLI notebook for under $2000.00. You can't even get a 7950 GTX SLI notebook for under $2000.00 -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
SLI? You can't even get a single 7950 with decent specs for under 2k.

r_driver=DX9 this command not working!!!!!!!!! help!
-
just open up the games explorer in vista and right click on the crysis game icon and click on PLAY DIRECTX9
-
woot thanks, very playable now under dx9 25-30fps on 1024 med settings. Hopefully future driver releases enhance performance on dx10

For those who cant get the console running could you try this
First off the console can't be opened by pressing a combination of things I think, so say if you access the ~ key by pressing Shift + some key, dont, just press the "some key"
On UK keyboards sometimes **** gets messed up
The console is usually accessed by pressing the button on the left side of the number 1, not on the numpad but the number keys on top of the letter keys.
Sometimes for me, such as in UT3 the console is accessed by pressing the second key on the right side of key L.
In some other games i cant remember which the console is accesses by one of the three keys on the right side of L and before Enter key.
Also its worth noting the above is on XP, when I was on Vista, I couldn't get the console to open no matter what key I pressed. Other people had this problem too and so far I haven't been able to find a solution. Note this is not a universal vista problem, most can access the console just fine, a few unlucky ones on vista cant at all.
Hope this helped -

Im sorry about the r_driver=DX9 command
I was getting my information from tweak guides author who is working on the crysis tweak guide but its not yet fully published on the site.
To see his views these are the two threads

advanced tweaks
http://forums.tweakguides.com/showthread.php?p=75415#post75415
After re-reading the advanced tweaks, it is my bad about the r_driver=DX9 method
In fact you are not supposed to enter this in the console, but rather in the System.cfg file
If you then want to add/customize the commands in a personal config file, the way to do it is to create a file called System.cfg, and place it under your \Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis SP Demo directory. Now within this file, you can add various commands, for example if you want to keep your Post Processing at High in the game, but just disable motion blur, then enter the following in System.cfg:
r_MotionBlur=0
To run in dx9 under vista add
r_driver=DX9
source = tweakguides
For those looking for an easier method just do this
To run it in DX9 under Vista you just have to right-click to game icon, located in Vistas Game folder (under Music, Pictures etc). Then you get the option to start in DX9 or DX10.
Soz for the trouble -
Could anyone help me , i have no audio in the sp demo, thanks a ton...
-
-
I dont like motion blur, it feels so slow when turning around with motion blur on, or maybe I dont understand what motion blur is properly
i wonder if its possible for people to tweak it so post processing is on medium and motion blur still on (for those with midrange systems) -
The game runs much better in DX9 XP than DX10 vista. Though my 8800GTX plays the game smoothly with shaders set to high and post processing set to high, rest very high in DX10 Vista. But it´s a huge difference since my computer rips this game through all options high, 1440x900, 16xAF, 4x*AA in DX9 XP.
I still think the game can be more optimized before released, same for drivers.
The largest difference in performance is the shaders and post processing. Now putting shaders to very high drastically lowers the performance, but it is very high on the shaders that makes the game looks the best. -
by putting post procesing on low what do you lose?
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Mainly the motion blur and some other effects. Post processing basically smooths out the game after the frames have been processed making everything seem smoother and removing "impurities" in the image.
