I dont use tweaked drivers because they give bad performance with a game i play much (called spring, remake of total annihilation).
But do the tweaked drivers give much more performance over the 84.63 drivers from the nvidia site? When i used some tweaked drivers i couldn't notice any difference... I havent tested any tweaked drivers for crysis so that's why i ask if you guys notice any difference. Especially the guys with a go 7800gtx, 7900gs, 7900gtx or 7950gtx.

    nice pics

but i thought the game would be much more better & optimized (graphics wise)

Ill stick to unreal which is playable at highest (no vsync or AA)

Its weird how games like COD4 & Unreal look much better than crysis on the same device

I say this game is overhyped

I have a 7800GTX with 84.26 stock drivers (with some small tweaks for performance) that I have been using as well. It seems to run both fast and extremely stable after trying so many different drivers (stock and tweaked).

I finally got the right settings on the NP5791. I have a C2D T7500 2.2GHz, 2GB RAM, and an 8700M-GT 512MB. It runs at 1280x800 with everything on high except for SHADER QUALITY and SHADOW QUALITY, which are set to medium. Those two settings are the biggest performance killers. With those settings I get 20 - 25 FPS average which is very playable (surprisingly). The FPS range is very small.

Edit: I should mention that I am running in DX9 mode. I personally can't tell the difference between DX10 and DX9. DX9 with high settings looks better than DX10 with medium. DX10 is all-around unplayable on the 8700M-GT at a 1280x800 resolution.

Look for my full review of the NP5791 this week.

I'm so glad I never "upgraded" to vista.

Every dx10 game doesn't really show a benefit and seems to just be a pain for everyone.

Seems dx9 provides a good 5-10 fps boost for Crysis

Damn you and your 8xxx's... I'm stuck here with a HGL-30 (7600). Still run it pretty well, (specially since I OC'ed the core by 90 MHz), most stuff on medium except for shaders and shadows (low) and object quality (high).

Gameplay is also very sweet. Will pick this up once it comes out.

Well, I OCed my 8700m to 770/1540/961 and after about 5 seconds of extreme smoothness (I was going to raise the settings), the thing completely hung up on me.

I'm new to this whole overclocking thing. I hope I didn't kill my card...

yeah you want to take baby steps with the OC'ing. I doubt you killed your card, it'll do things like hang or other weird stuf before it's fried.

I'm just not a patient person. People say to go up by increments of 5mhz and test it every time, but Crysis takes ****ing forever to boot up as it is. Also, is the increments of 5mhz just the core clock or the memory, or both? I have no clue... lol.

I have a problem. Crysis is unplayable in dx10. It goes very, very slowly even if i run everything at low and crappy resolution.

But, it works just fine in dx9 with everything at medium.

The sound stutters (is that a real word?) in both dx9 and dx10.

What can be the problem? I have a Asus G2S.

    Sorry for my bad english.

Crysis ran great on my D900C with a 7950 GTX and Q6600. I have to say though, while I love the realism, I'm a little put off by the motion blur.

Motion blur actually makes your framerates smoother in terms of what you percieve. Tvs run at about 30 fps or lower and they use motion blur unlike games in the past which didn't use it. The human eye also has motion blur in its form of inifinte frames so we don't experience "stuttering".

guys you can enable veryhigh mode in xp now as well

those who have tried say their is no fps hit like in vista and the game looks even better

Also for those who like putting vsync on as well as triple buffering, read this before

" I've also had a couple of emails regarding VSync in Crysis. By default Crysis has VSync switched off (check using the r_vsync console command, and it is =0). This is the best setting for performance in Crysis. However if you want, you can force it on via your graphics card CP in XP or Vista, but this can noticeable reduce FPS and also increase mouse lag. In my testing, with VSync off in Vista I got 28FPS in a test scene. With VSync forced on in the same scene I get 20FPS. You can of course enable triple buffering to offset this, but given Crysis is a VRAM-intensive game, and Triple Buffering uses more VRAM, I wouldn't recommend it.

So in other words unless you're extremely fussy about tearing (of which I don't see too much in Crysis), then the default of VSync off is the best for performance, and make sure you don't have VSync forced on in your graphics CP for optimal performance."

i can load the crysis demo quite fast, im pretty sure it is direct x 10, those faces cant be dx9.

i have most settings on medium, one or two on low.

with my new driver for my 8600m gt, i runs quite smoothly, slowing down a bit while im shooting ( i might be abe to fix that by lowering textures a bit (on high)). 163.44

I modded in the beautifull rays of light using that method! That was my favorite DX10 feature, and now I have it in DX9/XP, and it only costs a few frames per second.

    Just added my Demo video.

    <object width='425' height='350'><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qWMR4c3IaPI"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qWMR4c3IaPI" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width='425' height='350'></embed></object>

8 kills, no bullets needed. (in 20 secs)

In the video, I am showing that you can literally beat the demo without having to use a single bullet. As you can count thats 8 dead, and no bullets needed... and this is at max difficulty.

By playing the Beta so much, you learn to take advantage of the suit modes to silently & quickly kill people with strength.

I beat the demo quick, even without using guns... hope I can do the same in the retail game.

    Enjoy. :)

P.S. Its even more fun when you kill guys on a boat without guns. ;) Tell me if you want that vid... I'll record it for you.

    That's an awesome video, Gophn.

I can't play it YET, since I can't download it, unless I want to wait 9 hours.

But, i want to try it on an ATI card, it should be in my review someday soon.

Yep, thats why i love the physics in this game....to kill the boat what I did was took hold of one of em explosive barrels, went to maximum strenght mode and threw it at the boat...amazing stuff.

I mean in what other game can you pick up live animals throw em up in the air and shoot em lol...or use em to kill your enemies.

Also I love the tranquilizer attachment...used it once to put the guy on the boat to sleep from far away...brilliant stuff

    Hey guys,
I'm running Crysis on my Macbook Pro w/ 256 8600m gt and bootcamp 2.0 drivers. I'm relatively happy with my performance (28 fps avg w/ drops into the high teens during firefights), but I think i might be having a problem. As i walk forward on a beach or jungle, I get rocks and trees popping up as i get closer. It looks quite unrealistic. Is there a setting to change to avoid this? Or is the draw distance not that good on all medium settings?

I like 169.02 drivers better than 169.01. My Crysis performance improved.

Before with same settings at same location my fps would be 25 with 169.01...now its 30 with 169.02 :)

It amazes me how Nvidia can pump out the drivers as soon as a new game comes out AND when a new gpu comes out....yet they STILL havent fixed the major bugs to give the functionality the gpus should have. Im still waiting on them to fix overscan output for 8800 series in windows xp....been complaining to them since november of 2006. Oh and by the way...up until 167.26 and up, they actuall had it fixed in Vista....but guess what NOT anymore! There is NO consistency in their driver makin process....and to me when it comes to computers its all about consistency....I cant troubleshoot a problem when I have to run through 10 different versions of a driver....just my soap box.

Well there are a few other threads that are fairly fleshed out already, and many of them have pictures in them.

I played it at 1280x800 on mostly Med, a few things on low, I forget what exactly right now. No AA. Somewhere in the 30s. I believe most people got similar performance, but it's been hard to tell with all the hoopla over everything with Crysis.

Similiar performance to Scavar. It does look nice but there is one option, shader detail I think it is, that has to be set to at least medium to make the graphics look close to "next-gen". It controls dynamic lighting mainly causing the trees shadows to sway on the ground and walls. It has a large performance hit though and even setting it to medium close to halved my fps. Basically the game is very playable if you settle for generic graphics. With the option set to medium and a resolution of 1024x640 I only got an average fps of 25 with most other option set to medium or low.

The Crysis demo runs beautifully on my 8600m GT (laptop in sig) with:

    DX 9 Mode
    1280x800
    AA: Off
    Shadows: Low
    Textures: Medium
    Post-processing: Medium
    Everything Else: High

It by far looks better then DX 10 mode or turning on AA and sacrificing other settings, in my opinion.

Crysis runs smooth on those settings like you guys :)
BUT when i play Crysis it's like the plants, rocks,... load (come on my screen) when i am in the area of it, when i run like 10meters further i only see green (of grass) but the plant is gone....

Ill take screenshots and post it here ;)

    1st example:
You see NO THREES on the island (Picture: http://www.sgtmatt.net/1st pic. Crysis.bmp)
You see THREES (Picture: http://www.sgtmatt.net/2nd pic. Crysis.bmp)

.... You see what i mean, i just want to always see those threes.

    2nd example:

You see plants (Picture: http://www.sgtmatt.net/3th pic. Crysis.bmp)
You see NO plants (Picture: http://www.sgtmatt.net/4th pic. Crysis.bmp)

    ....

I hate that kind of things, i just want to see it always
