Anyone noticed this game uses alot of VRAM. At very high 1080p and 16x aniso and SMAA x1 my usage averaged at 1700mb after 2 hours of gaming and peaked at 1975mb!!
I think we need 3 or 4 GB cards already!

where can you see the vram usage?
umkc, the 310.90 drivers are just plain better for a single card setup. I suggest everyone tries them out. -

Not that I was expecting too much through, the crysis series had always been more or less a tech showy next gen graphicz!!1! game more than anything else.
the most disappointing thing is the poor AI. it was the same with Crysis 2, but they didn't even change it up a little bit in crysis 3.
The higher difficulty settings only make the enemies detect you better and has a higher damage and higher health. It doesn't make the game any more fun. -
Hey guys, Here is a link to a czech tech page where they ussualy make detailed analysis of games when they come out on diffrent cards with diffrent settings. Now they did crysis 3. You can also check how diffrent processors affects frame rate. I'll probably need to use google translate unless your not czech or slovak
Crysis 3 â test nároků nejkrásnÄjšà hry souÄasnosti
Here it is through google translate:

how should i set my game with i7 2720,6970m,8g ram,i try medium all,but sometime the fps drop so low, like 14-17
-
set it to low with v sync off.
-
Actually I rate the AI as close if not worst than Aliens:Colonial Marines..
Finished the game in 5hrs flat. I was expecting more well when you compare it to Crysis 2.
Graphically excellent and probably better than Crysis 2 but Crysis 2 with maldoHD I dunno..I will have to go and play MaldoHD a few more times to see the differences..
Aside from Mission 1(which was crap) the game was quite linear and straightforward. As per comments above about the AI it was exactly the same AI as Crysis 2. I did not like psycho's English accent I could not understand some of his words at times. -
King of Interns Simply a laptop enthusiast
I agree here. Far cry 3 is much more fun and replayable. I haven't finished the game and don't want to rush it. A good game compels me to complete it in one sitting!
Also the graphics of crysis 3 isn't even that amazing. Good yes but mind blowing? Not at all.
@Tron2 who cares what Psycho says. It is mostly swear words anyways lol -
Yeah too much swearing for my likening..heheh
EDIT: Just played MaldoHD Crysis 2 yup much much better graphically than Crysis 3. MaldoHD reminds me of Crysis 1 with that fine detail resolution like fine sand is on the screen for all textures, etc. -
yea the AI was really weird, the first time you encounter cephs it is really good, 2 of them hunting you down hiding behind the grass, gave me a feeling like I was playing against human, they were not just charging your way to die, but then a completely different story..
also I think I am ok with the game overall, it is nice graphics wise (come on guys, it is like Crysis 2 again, I think it is easy to see Crysis < Crysis2 < Crysis3 graphics wise, certainly C3 will also get nice texture packs and overhauls which will make it look amazing but the release version of the game is way better than the release of C2 and C), an ok storyline compared to its predecessors, a short campaign, but we knew it coming
anyway, at the end, I am missing Crysis and its beautiful open environment.. -
mindblowing graphics!! > short but sweet single player

failwheel is right for once. crysis 3 overall is the best looking game to date mod or no mod.....man I can't wait for the crysis 3 mods though
-
Too bad. All their previous Crysis games had very good SP campaign I thought, well paced and plenty of hours. Crysis 1 especially with all the mods. Even Crysis 2 was about 8-10 hour campaign for me.
Personally I prefer the less glossy graphics of Crysis 1 to Crysis 2 and 3. Crysis 2 and 3 have that plastic shiny look that a lot of newer games have. Wish game developers would focus more on how materials appear, don't make everything shiny plastic. -
-
I play with everything very high, with post processing low and lens flair and motion blur off.
I think the SP maybe is short because they plan on releasing DLCs? Don't know if the DLCs are only for MP or not.
One thing I really don't like is how the vegetation moves in Crysis 3. It's really weird how they move back and forth like that. If there is wind, grass will be blown in that direction, it doesn't pivot back and forth. And not only that, in tunnels where there shouldn't be much wind, if any, the vegetation still moves back and forth. It's very weird. CryTek is usually attentive to details, it's odd this massive over sight exists. -

Just finished it a few minutes ago. Great gameplay, stunning graphics, melodramatic but at times funny story... my only real complaint is the length. It should have been twice as long, I would have happily waited another year for it to come out if it were 10 or so hours like Crysis 2. All in all an excellent game; I'm kind of depressed that it's over, since there's not much else I can go to for that level of eye candy. I guess I'll replay Crysis 2 with MaldoHD then do another playthrough of Crysis 3 on the hardest difficulty. Can't wait for the next gen console ports to release. If they're anywhere as close to Crysis 3's visual fidelity, we're in for a treat.
-
Yeah true that.
I have played more of crysis 3 in particular earlier missions. The mission with the chinatown in the water is just amazing where you stab the guy at the beginning.
I did notice though if you turn motion blur off you get this laggyness with the mouse when turning around. However, put motion blur back on and voila it's gone and mouse looking around is very smooth.
I too have craved 4 more but replaying earlier missions is great and allows you to experience the beauty that is Crysis 3. The satellite mission in particular has graphical detail that is just amazing along with the next mission. -

Yeah that's a good one. The Ceph weapons are , too. I love playing stealthy, but there's nothing more fun than picking up a ridiculous Ceph weapon, going into armor mode, and wasting 50 aliens in a row lol.
-
i dont give a monkeys about fps and with 2 of my cores on roughly 96c and other 2 are mid 80s.
ill stick with low. 680 is hitting no more than 72c
both have had repase done by mysn so no idea why im getting high cpu.
even when running on very high i was getting the same temps.
now i never thought i would say this but at the moment im enjoying the multiplayer much more than the campaign so far, especialy spears. not played hunter yet and dont intend to.
only started the campaign yesterday so hopefully it should grow on me. -
Thats weird about the CPU, my CPU stays at 74°, pasted myself, GPU however is fine at low on stock clocks at 78°, but if I try anything above low, with on overclock temps shoot really high, like 90° on the gpu... might have to repaste again..
Anyway I like the Multiplayer too, havnt played much and apparently I was using the wrong weapon the whole time lol. missed most of the 2XP sadly... -

I just missed your post where you said your eyesight is bad, so I thought that you guys had it on low because of performance issues. -
I'm getting about 40-45 fps average on multiplayer with highest settings (low AA) 1080p with 680m. But I understand what MrDJ is saying. If it visibly looks familiar then why not reduce detail and get higher framerates. You don't get a high end video card just to play at extreme detail, I don't at least. I do if I can, but like MrDJ if I can get higher framerates and have it still look pretty much the same, why not? I play BF3 on "high" because it looks remarkably the same as Ultra but gives me an extra 10fps.
MrDJ - you will have to repaste your CPU. That's ridiculous temps. Also check your heatsink fins when you repaste. The interior of my machine looks pristine, but when my CPU was repasted it still was running high. I took it out again and there was a lot of dust build up at the end of the heatsink fins. After I blew it out, temps returned back to normal. I think I'll have to do same with my GPU now because the temperature is creeping up again. -
failwheeldrive Notebook Deity
Oh ok thanks, that sounds about right. I guess I could have just tried it on one 680m to find out for myself lol.
-
i will get it back to mysn one day to do some tests on it and repaste as dodgy eyesight and wriden with arthritis is not the easiest for me on intricate parts.

people are coming around to my idea of these are ports and why not lower some settings if it looks identical to max
-
Why do you care what settings people use?

guys calm down crysis 3 is an exeption here. Of course you can play on whatever you want. Me and lots of other people play on low to achieve 60frames especially online thats important. Of course It doesnt look as good as high/very high, but low settings look pretty damn good compared to high/ultra settings on other games like for instance dead space 3, sleeping dogs etc crysis on low looks better than those games IMO, the graphics arent actually bad. heck even BF3 on low still looks good.
And yes x32993x we know you like to play games on low with your 6990, we will have to do the same in a couple of years.... or upgrade -
-
Erugh don't want to spend money on a short single player.
-
true, but some people might have expected better visuals on high compared to low.
Geo the Multiplayer is very fun aswell, just played for about 1,5 hours already rank 17 -
the readings i was giving was the max readout of core temps. i alt/tabbed out and took a screenshot which is below.
must admit the gpu usage is quite eratic compared to B3 but should i be taking note of the current temps and not the max temps.
cheers
edit:
interesting video to boost cpu which will boost fps by 30% http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hcuYiqib9I&feature=youtu.beAttached Files:

On my laptop performance feels okay on "medium". GPU temps are okay, but CPU temps are quite high: got 90~95°C here too. (this is without boosting the fan speeds, a feature that Clevo notebooks offer)

^only the HM model and not the EM here in the uk.

anyone have pics of crysis 3 they want to share?
-
Crysis seems to be having problems on my main rig, it tends to freeze every 20 minutes or so. and im not the only one with that problem
-
Good luck -
Well I have been addicted to this Crysis so I decided to reinstall crysis 2 and see how that goes.
I highly recommend this tool called Crysis 2 Advanced Graphics Options Version 1.8(just google it and download it) . With it you can tweak it to extreme and enable HDR and bloom effects. It offers huge options to tweak it graphically. And the result wowza...I am shocked how good crysis 2 is graphically.
I am not sure now which is better. Crysis 2 is truly amazing and immersive. However, I am starting to find Crysis 3 very poor (missions, gameplay, AI)but graphically it seems to be on par with Crysis 2 only if you use the mod/tool mentioned above to tweak it. Apparently you can use this tool with MaldoHD to get an ABSOLUTE cracking/amazing graphics with crysis 2. This is will enable you to experience the highest graphics ever possible in a game ...
I sure hope Maldo does a texture pack for Crysis 3. -
3 freeze ups on different servers for me last night and 1 lost connection and sods law it had to be on my highest scoring game.
not happened before since release day so i hope this isnt going to continue. -
Pretty happy that my m18xr2 can run this with all settings at very high. Only thing I turned off was aa.
-
is there anyway to turn v-sync on but not have to force game to run at 30fps?d3doverrider doesnt seems to work.
-
Isn't there a tool to limit FPS to certain FPS? It doesn't use vsync just doesn't allow FPS to exceed whatever you tell it. I know on nVidia cards, nVidia Inspector allows you to do this. Not sure if something similar exists for AMD.
-
maybe radeon pro app can do this on amd cards but i need vsync without fps locked in 30.
