Ah, I missed it then. Thanks!

No worries, I don't even remember where I saw it, but I think now that I'm Googling it, it was some deleted tweet about PS4/PS5 .. so it might not even hold water for GOG/Steam.
-
I saw it in regards to the Playstation, I've not seen it in regards to the PC downloads. It makes sense no matter how you slice it so it's easy to logic your way through it and assume it's happening; even the gaming sites are doing it so it's not just us. It''s been a while since I've been in on a pre-load as popular as this one and that was a bit of a kludge on Steam, I'm curious to see how it's going to go on GOG. I would think this might be the biggest server hit in their history.

Sounds like Best Buy shipped the uber editions early; takedowns being threatened if owners post footage due to the embargo still being on. Not sure that legally applies though since the owners are not part of any agreement. One for the lawyers I guess. In any event at the very least we should be getting some real world owner perspectives soon.

As someone who per-ordered it in the first minutes it became available:
Maybe they will sneak something in EULA. No one reads that crap anyway, except some lawyers.
Or just, you know, maybe they say that but don't mean it in hopes that would be enough for people to chill and not ruin it for anyone else...which yeah, won't work... There are always a bunch of bungholes ruining it for everyone else. Guess I will avoid those parts of Reddit for now
.

I hadn't thought of the EULA; good call on that, you're probably right.

I'm with you there... I threw my money at them on GOG the minute the pre-order was live.krabman and killkenny1 like this.

On PC, you can preload the game beginning Monday, December 7th. Preloads begin at 12PM CET on GOG and at 5PM CET on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

They should give people who preordered the game when it was first announced (and can provide dated documentation to prove it) some swag like Gearbox did for that guy who held onto to his Duke Nukem Forever receipt for all those years.

LOL. I'll just be happy to be finally playing it.

94 hours, 23 minutes, 31 seconds. Yes, I found one of those internet timers where you can get a countdown to a specific date and time.
Edit... Forgot to mention, the Day 1 is 43.5 gigs. Evidently the tuning up was a little more substantial than they implied.Last edited: Dec 5, 2020hfm likes this. -
Looks like gameplay leaks have indeed started to pop up.
https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/comments/k6zfsh/cyberpunk_2077_free_roam_part_1/
The main video was taken down as expected but down in the comments there are links for the videos. I did watch one for a few minutes because I can't control myself. I don't think there are any spoilers. I have mixed feelings... so far it looks like pure GTA with a more empty city atmosphere. The audio seems to play a way more crowded scene than it actually is... hard to explain, I could hear lots of people talking in the background audio yet the streets seem empty. -
NPC numbers and such is determined by hardware; less if you're on the old stuff, more if your sporting better machinery, most if you're on the latest greatest. These guys are all playing without the day one patch which being North of 40 gigs is substantial. If you follow the thread you posted and go well into it there seems to be a consensus developing that the world looks great outside of those on the older legacy hardware. Certainly sounds like I wouldn't want to buy in if I was on one of the older consoles.

Someone at CDPR replied to that and it apparently isn't the final Day 1 patch, there's more patch coming before launch.krabman likes this.

I recall them saying that "extras" density would be one of the things scaled depending on available resources.cucubits likes this. -
Hadn't seen that but I'm not surprised; my expectation was that there would be a series of patches during the early days. Both known issue that they hadn't caught up with and the inevitable stuff that we're going to find when we get in the game. I made a brief effort to find some of those videos and watch them but the take downs were fairly thorough, no pay dirt.cucubits likes this.

Yeah there will be plenty of patches first few months, then the inevitable enhanced edition, but cdpr has a good track record of giving those away to existing owners. There was a lot of free dlc for witcher after launch as well.
-
I'll pick up the paid DLC in the inevitable bundle after it's said and done, I never buy it piecemeal and I don't expect that to change here. Free stuff would be great but I'm not quite confident in that we're going to get it or at least in the same quantity. There was a strong push to further monetize with this one, significantly stronger than with Witcher 3 if you can believe the publicly available information. They've got 3 paid DLCs announced as well as the multi which is now stand alone and will not be added in as had been implied when it first was made public. That's a lot of content to fill out; I don't think there will be as much "sitting on the shelf" unused as there was with The Witcher. I would love for them to prove me wrong and not just for the free gaming goodness; it would be nice to still have an outfit left that doesn't make me feel like I'm a thing to be used for money and that they'd just as soon shoot me and take it as make a game if only they could get the legislation passed.

Now it's starting to get real! Edit... Says 58 gigs for the DL which makes the day one patch 80% of the original download. Gotta be some significant changes.

I, on the other hand, will be furloughed during 10th and 11th.
Normally being furloughed sucks, but this time it doesn't seem to be that bad

After all that wait CDPR still manages to c-block gamers and leave them with blueballs
Doesn't matter, just a few more days. Kinda feels surreal to be this close to release! -
I started preloading on gog earlier, it's 59GB. Seems that they throttled it, it's running at 1.6MB/s.
I'm sure we'll have to download another large day 1 patch on the 9th. -

Probably due to that NA traffic. When I donwloaded earlier today it maxed out my Internet
speed.
Doesn't matter much though, can't play it yet anyway

I started out getting 10 to 15 which isn't horrible but it was so slow by the end I thought it might have stopped downloading at a couple points. Starting to get that Xmas style anticipation going on.

I'm used to 40fps.. I think I'll have little trouble finding a quality setting I'm happy with. Definitely not waiting around for 3080 availability to play it.Aroc likes this.

Regarding current performance:
https://twitter.com/GamersNexus/status/1336066826233651202 -
So if I don't preload, and just download at the moment of launch, how big will the DL be? Like will I get the day one patch and everything at once, or will I still go through two separate DLs?
-
I don't think anyone actually knows what the day 1 only vs preload + day 1 will be. For what it's worth I think they relaxed the throttle my download just jumped from 10mbit to what I configured the throttle in Galaxy to of 50Mbit...
I would imagine that preloading will reduce what you need to download on Day 1, though perhaps the total of both might be higher than just Day1. If you are working on a crappy data cap that you are afraid of hitting maybe wait. -
There is alleged to be a patch for the, again, alleged, 43.5 gig day one patch; I'm getting what I can when I can. Don't want to be going to bed on the night of release with gigs to go and the DL speed measured in kbs.
-
Whelp looks like I may still end up playing at 1080p with my 3080, we'll see how much performance will be higher without the DRM. Was hoping with all the money I've spent that maybe I could get away from 1080p... Maybe someday...
-
There's no way you can't play it at least 1440 with a 3080. You don't have to crank every setting to max.Aroc and killkenny1 like this.

While CDPR has done a lot of good in the industry, the business surrounding the launch of this game, especially as it relates to independent content creators, shows that they are not above the shenanigans we associate with the EAs and Ubisofts of the world.
That being said, the fact that it has woketivist undies in a bunch is making me want to give it a try. Even if it ends up being a second-rate clone of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, that would likely be enough for me to see it through. I'll probably pick it up on Xbox since at Best Buy I get a $10 Reward Zone bonus, and it's part of a Buy-2-Get-1-Free promo with other games I've been wanting to play. This way if I don't end up liking it, I can resell it fairly easily.Last edited: Dec 8, 2020 -
Nope, no way. that's not in my personality. I'd much rather lower resolution than settings. I don't want to miss any goodies. My OCD would make me have to upgrade asap and start over to make sure I see everything, and I don't like starting over at all.electrosoft likes this.

This is pretty much what I have expected. With the amount of hype this game generated, a lot of "content creators" (bah, how hate this term) will try to throw up out as much clickbaity content as possible.electrosoft likes this. -

Then I suggest you do because the person who created the video I linked to had been in contact with CDPR right up until recently. He even received merchandise from them, but when he asked for an advance review code - silence. Further, why would they have an embargo on posting your own video content, but using trailer/b-roll footage is OK? And why have reviews been limited to PC only, with CDPR refusing to give out codes for consoles?

Ok, will watch it. I generally try to avoid reading too much about the game at the moment - too much crap from both sides due to all the hype...hfm likes this. -
I miss the good old days where playable demos for games were the norm. I can understand why these are not being used anymore, I'm sure there would be much much fewer purchases if everyone could legit try games before deciding to buy.
