GTA V has a more fleshed out open world, while CP2077 has a deeper gameplay (think Deus Ex Human Revolution or Mankind Divided set in open world).

GTA4 is better than GTA5 and one of the greatest open world games of all time, AI was amazing and the world lived more, better more mature story rather than action movie story etc

I just had to go look. GTA 4 I played a total of 30 hrs, really wasn't my cup of tea at all. GTA 5 I had more fun with at 83 hrs since it could be played 1st person, but it was just an action game for me, played thru the story and I was done with it.
CP77 is an RPG, yeah the games have some similarities but it's all about the build and trying different play styles out. At 44 hrs already in the first 10 days, obviously I will get a ton more enjoyment out of it.JRE84 likes this. -

Honestly i don't see why people are comparing to GTA? The similarities begin and end with it being a open world set in a city. The game is so far from GTA in gameplay it's like comparing the Witcher 3 to GTA.
-
Agreed. I think since you can steal cars maybe? Like I said it's comparing an action game to an RPG.
-
You can steal horses in the Witcher. Is the Witcher just Red Dead Redemption?
-
itsn't cyberpunk 2077 story about a chip and its criminal/terrorist. open modern future world....more similarities but yes its like comparing witcher series to red dead.
-
Different game for a different audience entirely, only similarity is that you can jack cars. This game is for more mature audience a thinking audience that loves cyberpunk and a good story.
If you pay attention and have the knowledge it plays like a Sam Spade detective story in a Cyberpunk universe, IMO it's not designed to be a shooter looter run and gun type of game but you CAN play it that way and miss out on all that it has to offer.Porter likes this. -
IMO you can think of Cyberpunk 2077 as the Witcher III with a Cyberpunk skin, it plays similar as far as the Map and all the side quests and the openness aspect, IMO the real differences are all chalked up to catering to the Cyberpunk 2020 rule set and world.TR2N likes this. -
I am constantly amazed by the little details, the cars even react the same way when your on a motorcycle as they do in real life, any motorcycle riders playing the game know what I am talking about, they speed up and cut into you when you try to pass them LOL .... it's too real, just one more nice little touch.

Hey guys a little late to the party, but better late then never lol. I'm glad that this thread exists...
I posted this in another thread, but it definitely belongs here even more.
I've tested CB2077 with multiple GPU's just to get an idea and to do some testing for someone to compare/confirm some data with the settings and fps etc... 1080Ti, 2060, 2070 Super, 2080, 2080Ti, 3080 and the 3090 should arrive today, which I'll be testing...
As you guys know there isn't much of a leap from the 3080 to the 3090, but for the sake of testing and to get some actual OC 3090 figures I'm excited for the 3090.
Cyberpunk 2077: 9900KS @ 5.3GHz | RTX 3080 | 21:9 - 4K (3840x1600)
Here are the quick preset: ULTRA settings that give me 60 FPS in the game, another screen shot showing the 35 FPS with DLSS: OFF, and another showing 56 FPS with DLSS: Quality.
I picked this specific location on purpose as it is pretty consistent overall with a lot of details on the screen.
CPU: 5.3GHz
System RAM: 11,000MB+
GPU VRAM: ~9500MB
Note the resolution that I'm gaming at. This is 21:9 - 4K ^h.
Ray Tracing Ultra: Preset
Only changes:
Film Grain: OFF
RT: Reflections ONLY
RT Lighting: ULTRA
DLSS: OFF and AUTO and QUALITY
60 FPS w/ DLSS: AUTO
56 FPS w/ DLSS: QUALITY
35 FPS w/ DLSS: OFF

Those are rookie numbers, you gotta pump them up!
I'm at 83,5h
I also prefer GTA IV, the the world, the details, story, characters, car handling - it was such a mature game.
But I can see why people like GTA V over it, even if it oversimplified quite a few things (there's also similar a video comparing GTRA V to GTA IV), it's "more fun" and that's why a lot of people prefer it.
That's a bit of an oversimplification. Then you can take any open world game and say it's just X with a Y skin... -

Fair points all around. I've been seeing a lot of GTA vs CB2077 ... two very different games obviously, but there are things that GTA has that CB2077 lacks... as amazing as CB2077 is, it actually lacks a lot of stuff, but then again one can argue that the things you can do in GTA are not necessary in CB2077 so it's really a mixed bag..
There are things that are valid though. For example the driving dynamics and characteristics are terrible in CB2077, along with things like the Ai of the pedestrians etc... it's just not there... GTA takes the cake in those departments and things like this are indeed comparable, because these have nothing to do with the story or purpose of the game, rather these are raw comparisons of particular game attributes that are stronger in GTA than in CB2077.
Nevertheless, aside to realizing that these are two very different games, GTA is also much older so to even be comparing it to GTA is a compliment to GTA, which IMO sheds light to the weaknesses of CB2077.
At the end of the day, both amazing titles in their own way and as a long time GTA player I really appreciate another open world game like it.
Side Note: I'm really big on water phsyics in games... I've thought it was the coolest thing since it takes so much to make water physics look good. This is another area that I think GTA does far better than CB2077.. I'm not referring to Ray tracing, reflections and shadows... I'm referring to just the raw water physics, which is one thing that I still really appreciate about GTA, especially under water. -
Sure thing! As for DLSS, which mode? OFF? Quality? Performance? etc...
Any other parameters? Turn film grain off? Turn motion blur off? etc...
Just let me know a list of specifics so that I can provide you with the most accurate date.

You have a slightly bigger resolution, would it be possible for you to check using 3440*1440 res?
As for settings: overall either high or ultra (without psycho settings). Motion blur, chromatic abb...somehitng and film grain off, the rest can be on. RT completely off. DLLS both quality and performance if you can.
Yes, this is what I also think. A huge part what makes GTA alive and actually stand out over other similar open world games are its NPCs and AI.
I.e. in CP2077 you stop in the middle of the road and that's it - traffic around you stops. In GTA you stop and you get a whole plethora of reactions, from people patiently waiting to flipping you off or ramming you with a car - a somewhat extreme, but still lifelike experience.
On the other hand the way you approach missions in CP2077 is far superior than in GTA. But this is all part of how these games treat their open world. GTA V is very restrictive in their missions, while CP2077 just tells you to go nuts.
But, if CDPR would add just half or that sweet GTA NPC/AI magic, legitimately half of the gripes I have with this game would go away. The rest are just some QoL stuff.iunlock likes this. -
Sounds good. I'll tag you when I post up the data...
I still really like and enjoy GTA. Bethesda was (rightfully) excoriated for the state in which Fallout 76 was released, but as far as anyone knows, they never made anyone sign an NDA telling them they couldn't use their own game play footage for their launch day coverage. -
People are making threads on the steam forums and other gaming forums i know comparing CyberPunk 2077 to Red Dead Redemption 2 which are completely different games..
-
I'd go Deus ex if I had to pick a game play style with similar feel. I didn't love any of the GTA games, they're ok for me but once through and done. Still haven't done RDR2.
I lit off Witcher 3 a couple days ago. A game that holds a revered place in many hearts and I personally spent quite a lot of time cleaning up most of the game world. In comparison to cyberpunk the world seems lightly populated with little going on. I think, I at least, was looking back at that game with beer goggles. I'd say without hesitancy Cyberpunk has raised the bar in no uncertain terms, problems and all. It's too bad they didn't hold off until they got the console stuff at least to where the PC is, I'm having fun despite the bugs and I think they would have as well. Talk about stepping on your own Richard...
-
Why do you think some people are reporting loads of bugs but you are not? Any ideas?
-
Too many people are good at making YouTube videos to *****, but they have no idea how to setup and maintain their PC, they push overclocks too far, don’t run compatible drivers, make too many tweaks and break it.
Just my opinion.
I bought this game to enjoy it I’m really into Cyberpunk have been since the beginning.

My rig, however unconventional, is rock solid and stable with every game I play. This game is glitchy and has a ton of bugs, there's no defending it that is based in reality.
Can you still play it and enjoy yourself, sure, I am doing just that. It's a blast and I suspect it will last me the entire holiday vacation as I am not THAT far into it yet I don't feel like. But there are a lot of bugs and no amount of wishing it wasn't so is going to change it.saturnotaku and killkenny1 like this. -
It should be compared to gta as far as the city open world/driving/peds etc, that's completely valid and cp77 overall is just not as good as the gta's. Story is subjective but mechanics etc seem pretty cut and dry. RS is the king of open worlds that are alive and fleshed out. I've now finished cp77 main story and a good chunk of the side quests, not so much into the gigs kinda monotonous. At 35 hrs there's not much I'm wanting to do other than finish up some random side quests and probably going back to the point of no return to get a different ending.
I like TW3 more although it was a buggy disaster at first as well. CPDR only has itself to blame with it's marketing hype, but if we are to believe the news it made its money for them already so I doubt they care much. 7.5 to an 8 for me. I had no serious bugs but I am playing at smooth 40fps locked but low settings appropriate to my temp rig with a 1650 mobile in it, still looks great. I did see plenty of graphical bugs and other bugs but again nothing that prevented finishing a lot of the side quests and main story. I personally like RDR2 better, playing them concurrently. Thinking about firing up DEMD again. -
right now i have money, and just cannot make up my mind if i should buy the game or wait till bugs are sorted out. really close to buying it on steam though

I think I'm getting to the point where I have to start pushing forward on the main quest again, a lot of the side quests and gigs just became a bit above my current level. I have to say it's hilarious doing a medium or so risk gig and doing sneaky head shots on enemies to the tune of thousands to over 10K damage, then trying out a very hard one with skull icons on the enemies and doing like a few hundred or so damage instead going OH **** and running. It also took like 7 RAM to disable their cameras and I was still using the 4 RAM militech one you get in the beginning of the game.. lol... 50 hrs in..
I was having a really hard time with the boxing matches, even the first one, until I had totally forgot I was completely ignoring all the cyberware. I randomly went to the doc and was like oh hey what do you have for sale and bought a few, gorilla hands helped me out a lot as my build is pretty much ignoring Body for the most part which means my melee sucks.Last edited: Dec 22, 2020hertzian56 and killkenny1 like this. -

For now I ignore them. Tried one where you have to fight the twins, quest said I'm all good. Yeah right, got schooled and never came back
-
I saved before I started the fight with the twins just in case. And sure enough, I lost the first time. I beat them both up the 2nd time though lol.
I kept doing a heavy swing on both of their heads over and over until 1 went down, and then eventually the other went down too. No quick punches were done haha.

I didn't save scum those fights.. cost a bit.. I've lost to the second one a few times now.. take the bet, suffer the consequences.
I feel like with all the bugs I shouldn't feel cheaty about save scumming, but it always feels like it makes things less risky and monotonous
I know I can beat the arroyo boxer I just have to get into demons souls mode and fight patiently.. I'm being a little too offensiveLast edited: Dec 22, 2020 -
If you like this type game, plan to play on PC, that PC has specs that will work ok, and seeing a bug doesn't make you go off the deep end, buy it. The game is a lot of fun. If it wasn't for the corporate manipulation and deception that led to releasing a game that absolutely wasn't ready for prime time on console the conversation would be about game of the year consideration. That's what I was trying to say earlier, the game is good. People that like this type of game will enjoy it. I have yet to encounter a single game breaking bug, just visuals and those are overstated in this clickbait world we live in where everything is taken beyond the reasonable. Today an XBOX user is complaining about not being able to keep the game after getting his refund. I mean seriously? lol
To the thread, I've got to builds going concurrently now. The netrunner build I started second is in early leveling and is much harder to play. More interesting though, you have to take a nuanced approach and work the hacking angle, you cant just start out stealth and then go guns blazing if you are spotted. I found a legend in my first build that has a nasty trick, a surprise, up it's sleeve. I'm not going to ruin it for you guys but damn, it really slapped me upside the head.

Anyone else find the fast travel map annoying? Try to move the map about with left click ...oops you clicked within 20cm of another fast travel point, now your being teleported with no confirmation.
It's the single most frustrating thing in the game for me. -
No I haven't found it annoying.
To be honest I walk and drive a lot. One of the best things about the game is the environment and finding odd little things.killkenny1 likes this. -
I haven't run into that, but I think I move the map with the WASD keys maybe? My biggest annoyance is the fact the C key for crouch toggle is the same key to skip past dialog. I don't do the boxing, it's just too motion sickness type of thing for me, I have a hard time with Kingdom Come Deliverance especially on horse and combat, I try to do bow as much as possible but it's such an epic game. I really wish cp77 would have gone the gtav route and given you a choice between 1st and 3rd person views, at least you can get it when in car. I use a mod for GTA4 for 1st person, easier when indoors etc
-I could see forcing first person during the sex scenes though but man I'm not a fan of those, so awkward, no skip button either. My character is a saucy female redhead with short hair lol. Also in ripperdoc chair and etcLast edited: Dec 22, 2020hfm likes this. -
Well it's up to 105 now so shouldn't be any major problems, I'd go for it. If you're using your 1060 laptop you won't have any problems at appropriate settings.hfm likes this.

I prefer first person but I'm all for choice in these matters. I do however wish I could see my character more often. Part of my expected fun in the cyberpunk universe was of finding a cool looking cyberpunky outfit and flaunting it but you cant get that sense of self when you are effectively invisible to yourself.

I've been staying up until like 3am every morning playing this, just running around doing side gigs.
I love the gunplay and quickhacking mechanics.
I'm specialized completely into Technical Ability as my main attribute with Intelligence as secondary, essentially a glass cannon that murders with Tech weapons and does crowd control with hacking.
The DR12 Quasar is my bread and butter. After charging it fires full automatic clips of death, I just unleash and blow people away though their cover. Seriously one of my favorite guns from any game I've played.
I haven't even run into many bugs.
Game is an 8.5 out of 10 in my book, in a vacuum that ignores everyone else's issues.
Also, I used the soda can exploit to score double jump and a Stephenson Tech Mk.2 before finishing Act 1. Makes the game so much more enjoyable.hfm and killkenny1 like this. -
Same here. All the glitches I was getting annoyed about I don't really notice much anymore unless they are jarring. I'd give it a 9 right now. So much cool stuff to do and see and the more I upgrade V the more interesting it gets.
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Yup. Also stay until 1 in the morning to play this game, already clocked 90 hours, and so far can't get enough.
I scrapped my first save and on my current save I'm 31 hours in. Barely scratched Act II, main cast of characters sit there waiting for me while I run around doing side gigs. Those side gigs, even very short and trivial ones, often have something interesting in them, so that's very enjoyable.
Tried Additive Camera Options in Gameplay settings? Maybe they could help you a bit.
I tried GTA V in FPP, I couldn't play it like that. The game was created with TPP in mind.
Same with CP2077, it's created for FPP, so not sure if the gameplay would transfer well into TPP. Ideally, I would say, let exploration have two modes - TPP and FPP, but once fight breaks out switch to FPP.
Also a bit of news, there's a video surfaced of someone working on TPP mod.

I would buy it from GOG.com and use there own app, plus 100% of proceeds go directly to the developers. It’s so much better! I almost hate steam after using the GOG Galaxy app. You can play games without updating. Or still play them while they’re updating, or still play if they require an update and avoid the update all together. And, there’s no bloatware like steam. If you disable steam from startup apps in System services in Windows it breaks the steam app and games just won’t launch properly.
It is personal preference of course. But from what I understand Steam takes 80% of gross profit from the Developer selling the game on there own platform. That’s crazy.
I wish they’d fix steam. It’s so sluggish and so bloated up. I have RDR2 on Steam and so
Many other fantastic games too. I’m stuck with steam forever. But, at least Im not stuck with steam with Cyberpunk 2077 lol

No, Steams cut is 30%, which is pretty much standard for the industry. After certain amount of game copies are sold, Steam cut goes down by few percent, but don't remember the exact details. -
ratchetnclank Notebook Deity
Think it drops to 20% but not sure after how many copies sold. -
Oh ok. I said it wrong, they don’t take 80% profit.
What I meant was Instead of them getting 80% profit from sold copies on steam, they get 100% from sold copies on GOG.
Either way the GOG Galaxy app is awesome how you can just play the game while it downloads and installs an update. I have slow internet in my area, so I hate how steam forces you to update a game no matter what you think about it. With my 7 MBPS internet that’ll pretty much ruin your day.
