I look forward to playing it again sometime late 2022....

It's better now. I loaded Cyberpunk to test out the new lappy and the number of bugs is greatly reduced. It's enough so that I actually stopped to smell the roses and having done so found myself gawking at the remarkable world they created. I never had that in my play time when the game came out; I went about the game world keeping my head down and trying to do everything possible to not see everything because that would have invited in all those bugs and glitches. They also fixed driving. That isn't a non sequitur; with driving fixed and the bugs (somewhat) tamed you can actually drive around and find pleasure in it. The driving itself is now just ok, not great: what changed is that you become a tourist in Night City.
Several concepts have become obvious to me now: This game will never be played on a previous generation console the way we can play it; I've come to believe the real star of the show is Night City. To see it in all its glory you need more power than they have; it's really that simple. Knowing that imagine a world where they announced that the game would not come out on previous gen consoles; something like "We're very sorry. We wanted to bring it to you but as development evolved it became clear the older consoles will not be able to support the world we created." Now imagine it came out next holiday season. In that alternate universe the game would have been vastly more polished, they would not have had to cut so much content last minute to try and make the impossible deadline of last holiday season. The people hoping to play on last gen consoles would have been bummed but I think they make up for that with those that buy in on PC and the current consoles Their reputation would be intact; enhanced in fact. The game itself would have been much better reviewed. People like me would have been greatly looking forward to the next installment in the newly minted blockbuster franchise. Yeah, the game world has problems but just imagine the next iteration where they fix some of them and move forward. I can easily imagine looking forward to Cyberpunk 2078, and 2079, etc.
That of course is all fantasy land; in the real world they screwed up big. For all that I am looking forward to new content; without all the bugs and glitches it's a much more pleasant place to visit. There are still many bugs but reduced in quantity so as not to be completely ridiculous. Some things can't be fixed: I'll not buy that content until reviews are out. I used to believe in CDPR but they taught me otherwise. Fool me once... -
ok so I have some money....should I buy or wait for a price drop....have the issues been fixed..

Wait for the next sale. Shouldn't be too far away, like 1-1,5 months. -

Good luck running it on the system in your sig. You're not gonna be able to experience Night City the way it was intended. It'll be more like a last-gen console experience, which is to say, poor to extremely poor.

it will either be geforce now on my ultrabook or 1650 running 1080p/med/30fps
medium looks pretty good, and 30fps average isn't bad not like you need 144hz for a game like thisLast edited: Jun 1, 2021 -

More like 20 FPS, which like I said is last-gen console experience.
-
bah....not cool....but maybe if i bought another 8gb stick it would hover around 30? thoughts?
also i bought this laptop for my huge older games backlog....runs almost every game pity not cp
at anyrate i can try it and if its unplayable i guess its geforce now which is fine with my low ping gig internet
pretty huge difference 16fps vs 27fps in some areasLast edited: Jun 1, 2021Papusan likes this. -
No, issues abound; it's just massively better than before. As stated above the world is amazing: I didn't see that in my first play through because of the bugs, it was a constant barrage, now it's just buggy. With the bugs trimmed back enough for it to percolate to the top I think I get where they were going with Night City but you have to have the hardware to really get the sense of place. The game will not be populated with low spec hardware and you won't get the candy. The gameplay itself is not bad and could be considered a buy on that basis now that i'ts only very buggy; that assumes you can handle some bugs. I don't know what the experience is on GF Now but that would probably be a better option than your hardware; the latter will likely be similar to previous gen consoles and that's not good.JRE84 likes this.

With dual channel, you’ll get closer to 30, but it won’t come close to being locked, and will chug and stutter at times due to the weak CPU even with graphics and crowd density lowered. As mentioned, the game simply isn’t low-spec friendly, no other way about it. -
hmm might have to fill out a what notebook should i buy form lol
honestly i thought the 1650 was equal or close to a 1060 but from my testing its not even close..might seem that way to benchmark software but in reality its sometimes the difference between all low 20fps and all high 50..
actually i was playing the new crysis with my 1060 settings and with the 1060 i was around 70fps with this card 30-35....unreal
also i might invest 1800 in a new laptop just thinkking a 3060 is good enough but i want it too last at least 4 years....any ideas on the next cyberpunks spec demands -
Figure game requirements will be defined by the PS5 for some time to come but you need (want) to out power it somewhat to account for optimization you won't have on PC. With 1800 you have enough ching to jump in higher and I would do that. Did in fact. I'd be thinking 5800/3070/3080ish and move to QHD which will be more future proof unless you want to twitch game. Depending on when you buy in the 11th gen might be an option worth considering. I wouldn't be thinking big sale; despite the hate on this forum this gen laptop is moving briskly and large savings appear unlikely.

oh ok @krabman thanks and thanks @yrekabakery I'm just not sure what to target..I have a s21 ultr for mobile gaming and suprisingly never thought Id say this but cell phone photography..but when it comes to laptops I never seem to scratch the itch...i was thinking a helios because at the end of the day temps are one of the most important factors..thought about thin and light like a xps 17 kinda swizz army knife of laptops...but I fear ill buy something like a 2060 laptop and regret it..heck id even be willing to pay someone here to help but i live in canada..you guys are mostly from the states..
edit.(yes my famous edits)
I used to have a good idea as to what you would need in the future but with ps5 xsx ect its a toss up no one really knows what we will need in 5 years time as some of the software and tech is going to push them far beyond what we have ever seen...ill post the video in a seckrabman likes this. -

That's not the difference between the 1060 and 1650, that's the difference between the i7-8750H + dual channel RAM vs. the R5 3550H + single channel. The 3550H even when not gimped by single channel is a far slower gaming CPU than even the i5-8300H, let alone the i7. -
One thing is for certain; if you have money to spend there will be no lack of people willing to tell you how they think you should spend it.

The whole laptop isn't good to begin with, the 3550h is really slow, 1650 is really slow, cooling is terrible, screen is terrible. Even at 799 it was a really bad buy.
While the 1650 COULD potentially match a 1060, that only ever applied for desktop vs desktop. Not mobile vs desktop in a bad system. -
yeah i wouldn't have bought it at 800...but for 400 hard to match..
also cooling isnt bad im getting 60-70c on gpu and 80c on cpu
screen is 45 percent adobe...not good but doesnt look too bad
3550 gets 3500-400 cpu in firestrike so its like a 6700
https://www.3dmark.com/fs/16756404
basically a 980m/6700hq
also too add you made me laugh with your negative review of my laptop lol..but yes its a steamy pile of dog doodoo...but a 400 dollar pile or 300usd pile...my phone has more ram faster and same 512gb...thats sad when something in your pocket is more powerful than your computer
im still thinking about a proper computer, might go desktop this time around
also notebookcheck gave my laptop a 80 percent rating which is pretty good and suprised me but honestly if you see a laptop call tuf fx anything avoid it like the plague unless its under 500cad or 400usdLast edited: Jun 2, 2021seanwee likes this. -
Hard to really complain about it at $400 or less.
I'd suggest desktop as well if you have the room and don't need to travel with it. I'd still down in my heart rather have a gaming laptop, but they're still either too loud under load or you have to deal with getting robbed of performance with an eGPU. The problem with building a desktop right now is that you can't buy a GPU, even at the low end, without paying far more than you should have to. You SHOULD be able to build a nice compact SFF desktop with like 3060 level perf for around $1200, but that's a pipe dream right now. It's depressing that even the newegg shuffle 3070's are like $900. That's over twice what it should be. Or at best exactly twice given a tricked out AIB version.JRE84 likes this. -
yeah 400 was cheap...I can't imagine complaining....the screen atlthough 45 percent rgb is bad when viewed looks pretty good..and the performance...well I went from being able to play 10 games via geforce now too basically my entire library of 300 aaa games....so yeah I might just hang tight till the 4080..
and gaming...Im doing more on my s21 lately that thing is insane....it should be called a camera and a phone secondary -

I imagine most of you have been keeping abreast of the stuff that is starting to come out of the CDPR data leaks; I think of interest for me were some of the videos made showing the game state at various points in its development or aspects of the game in development. I've never really seen behind the curtain into a game at that stage of development. It's also interesting to see how many things they were throwing up against the wall, clearly a studio riding a major success and willing to imagine something more.
It all leads me to the feeling I had finishing the game back when it was released; largely a sense of loss for what could have been. I also now feel rather more sorry for the guys in the trenches; it must have hurt to see that worked squandered, be excoriated in the press over bugs in a game that shouldn't have been released, then get slapped in the face with a piddling grind bonus that was 1/1000s the size of their illustrious leaders despite those leaders being responsible for the debacle.
Not related but I found the Pooh thing pretty funny; I've spent lots of time over there and the people in general are not nearly so politically correct as the US. I find it refreshing.Spartan@HIDevolution and hfm like this. -

Only took them seven months. What an absolute trainwreck. -
Having lit it up recently for thermal testing on the new laptop I can say they greatly improved the experience; it would have been significantly better received in it's current tune. We covered that already though; my thought here is that I don't care. No amount of bug fixes can change my impression of a game I have finished; that has been asked and answered.
I do look forward to new content: I found a lot of enjoyment in the release version and in my recent testing I think I finally see where they were going with Night City and Cyberpunk; it's going to be a very cool place if they don't go full EA on us.hfm likes this. -

I love CP. I have 276 hours in it and now just waiting on some dlc. I never had any bugs that were a game stopper. Just the occasional car or body falling from the sky.

I've seen a few outlets say they should let the IP die due to an excess of failure; the stink of which can never be expunged. Can't disagree more. While playing at the release I kept my head down and blinders on in regards to bugs. Still couldn't miss them, they were everywhere and non-stop. Then there was the driving and car control which were relatively poor making me want to hit the fast travel as much as possible. But that was then.
Looking at it now it's different; various glitched are evident but not constantly in your face. They fixed the driving: Not the best I've encountered but good enough to be enjoyable. I found myself lollygagging instead of testing thermals: Literally just driving around, sightseeing.
Night City is just plain cool; so many details, highly stylized, lovingly rendered. I didn't get that when I was playing the game, it was there all along but when cars are falling out of the sky, objects randomly exploding, people walking on air, all that stuff that was incessantly in your face, it was lost in the noise.
It's not prefect, I'm not saying that. I do think it's going to be an amazing place to visit when they sort it all out. Everybody talks about Witcher 3 and how great it was; I agree with them. What's missing though it's that it was their third try. The first was cringe worthy, the second considerably better but heavily flawed, it wasn't until the third that they put it all together. Even with that one there were quite a few bugs out the gate. -

...and this is for a game that's been "released" for how long now?
It's sad where greed pushes even the last few better devs nowadays. They should've done all that before even considering launching the game. They essentially ruined the experience for many customers.
I love these games but once I get through the story and most side missions, I really don't feel the need to replay the whole thing, just because some small sections will be different...saturnotaku likes this. -
I'm already on record in that regard, I've completed the game, what it is has been asked and answered. I am done for now.
I am interested in the new content though; the first Witcher 3 expansion was not small and the second was bigger than some full games. They have a massive investment in this IP and I don't believe they will abandon it. The potential of upcoming expansions is hard to guess but we should be able to make some inferences based on what they do now. As an example: Do they improve random NPC behavior? Is the game meaningfully improved by the change? Whatever they do; it should tell us something.
As to the level of corporate scumbaggery, it was high. We've been over and over that and for my part there is nothing left to say about it now. I'm looking to the future. -
If you had to chose one,Cyberpunk or RE Village,?I'm hearing great things about Village but it's game time isn't that long? Still worth the 60 dollars?
-
Tough call, very different games and different experiences. I played both. The Village was a bit short for my taste. If I could go back, I would probably pass for now and wait for a discount on it and get Cyberpunk first.
-
I didn't do Village so I can't comment on it.
