Maybe they just need more time to think about pulling from steam and moving to epic![]()

I still won't be surprised if current consoles are dropped since CDPR has stretched this out to around the next console launch window. -
No inudstry is immune to this. People trying to work overtime, truck drivers driving many hours straight to get to detinations as fast as possible. Warehouse / assembly line workers overworked.. etc.. goes on and on...
I'm not making excuses for CDPR or the countless other teams building software products on deadlines, but it's unfortunately very common in general.
What I was talking about was how CDPR treats it's customers that are buying their games in relation to a lot of other microtransaction slot-machine happy games, or out of whack DLC value propositions. Bugs that never get fixed. Enhanced-editions that you just get a "Discount" for for owning the original game. (Things like Baldur's Gate EE 15 years after the fact don't count.. Dark Souls looking at you..)
It's never perfect. If they are guilty of the typical AAA GOTY run at burning people out during crunch they should try to fix that. If it's just become that you have to do that to even make it possible with game budgets what they are today then the entire workforce in general needs a reckoning.killkenny1 likes this. -
Unfortunately that would also mean dropping 150 million potential customers, and shareholders aren't going for that.
Plus, CDPR has already said the new-gen consoles will be getting day one patches to run the game much better, and a significantly upgraded version for free in 2021.
I expect the PC version to get the same patch, in some kind of Definitive Edition, or some such. -

Yeah, me too.
I really hope it will deliver, as up to this point their games only got better and better, but you may never know, so I will let the judgment of how good or bad this game is once it (finally) releases.hfm likes this. -

Again, maybe I can be empathetic towards that knowing that they had to make some technical sacrifices to make an actually optimized playable game vs what they showed early on without a lot of logic and mechanics in place. I'm sure they learned from that from a marketing perspective.
Creating these games is IMMENSELY complicated with complex systems interacting and tons of branching logic. One small thing can throw the whole balance or sequence of events into unintended states. No one seems to use any perspective and just likes to knee-jerk react to something.

There is no doubt this game will be good..u guys talk about it like it's an exception to game development norms..all games created have a dynamic process

Historically good marketing, cool gameplay trailers often are very far from the product at release. I do hope it won't be the case here but having learnt my lesson with No Man's Sky, for now I'm staying away from the pre-purchase button.JRE84 likes this. -
I dont know I hope it's not another andromeda.. seems like its similar to deus ex human revolution...but then again this is cd projekt red and im sure it will blow us away

In these games I'm usually very thorough but I am still finding new hidy holes and new quests. Also I didn't get to play one of the DLCs, so I have that to look fw to when I get to the end again. Speaking of Deus Ex, isn't it about time for a new one? It's been 4 years since Mankind Divided came out. -

If I had to choose one game series and one alone, it would be Deus Ex. I actually stopped for a second here to make sure I'm not making a mistake. Half Life (1 & 2) ended up 2nd place just because Episode 1 and 2 didn't impress me that much, and because they chose to stop developing it further...
Now I really hope Cyberpunk will live up to the hype.JRE84 likes this. -

Well, all of those pretty graphics are a DirectX 12 exclusive -- with PC gamers requiring Windows 10 for the most part, but will work with Windows 7 and its implementation of DX12. The reason? Marcin Gollent, Lead Graphics Programmer at CD PROJEKT RED says it's because of ray tracing.
During a recent interview with PC Games Hardware, Gollent said: "Thanks to the introduction of DX12 support for Windows 7 SP1 that Microsoft introduced last year, the game will run on this system. We do, and will continue to, test Cyberpunk 2077 on Windows 7 in an attempt to iron out any edge-cases that might arise. Unfortunately, Windows 8 didn't receive its variant of DX12 libraries".JRE84 likes this. -

Yeah everybody dropped Windows 8 like a hot potato when Windows 10 came out. Because the people that liked 8 moved to 10, while the people that liked 7 stayed on 7.

On a slightly more serious note, is there a real reason to go to those lengths to disable updates, some of which do patch vulnerabilities and bring improvements? I don't mean to step in the tin-foil hat area and I do agree with the telemetry, not cool on microsoft part but that's easily disabled. -
I'm more excited for horizon zero dawn. They've just announced the release date to be August 7th and released a trailer for the PC version. I made a thread about it. http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/horizon-zero-dawn-pc-thread.833505/#post-11029717JRE84 and BrightSmith like this. -

My GT72 came with 8.1 and though I'm not using it now, I preordered CP77 while it was still working. I'd of been mad, especially since 7 got dx12 too.
If I've learned anything since getting my G14, it's that avoiding W10 was the most right thing about PCs that I've ever been right on. Control is near impossible ...especially if you want things to upgrade to get to 2004 for dx12u.Last edited: Jul 6, 2020 -

Its like all the manufacters who put out all this BGA garbage of PC's to eek out a few extra minutes of battery life are in cohoots with microsoft on how to make the most inferior product that is humanly possible. Then they market this crap out to the public how they added all this other garbage to the system to make it run better. But you know what? Garbage is Garbage, Garbage doesnt magiaclly become something useful and as such this BGA thin and light gaming crap doesnt just magically not become something that is worthless either.Last edited: Jul 7, 2020 -
Luckily I'm not on that list so far... running just some simple telemetry disabler which took about 1 min to set up and nothing else. My windows 10 has been running happily (with updates) ever since I got this gaming machine. -
lol... yeah I have a thin and light gaming laptop and its the way to go...I have temps around 60c-70c while gaming on my gs63vr 8re. updates you say? My system is tweaked beyond belief but it only took 5 minutes to do so.. normally this laptop gets 3 hours battery life now i get 6 and a half.. when im gaming it sits on a desk and when i want to read from scribd or watch a movie on the couch I do so..
Update I heard microsoft is giving out tinfoil hats as compensation for their evil updates that mess with computers...apparently its being done by the reptilian species of aliens that are trying to use social programming to take over the world....luckily the tin foil hats prevent this.Mr. Fox likes this. -
Updates? No need for placebos here. Or a tinfoil hat. I just say no. Only one installed since 2018 is a .Net 4.8 patch (KB4486153). The Adobe update filth is much harder to control. The Abode cancer keeps re-enabling itself even though I kill all of the Adobe crap in Task Scheduler, Services, and with Autoruns.
