You guys, Berserk Powerup is so awesome! It just feels so satisfying punching demons with your bare hands to death to some metal playing in the background...
Love it!
Also, finally got my hands on BFG 9000. Hehehe...
On a sadder note, this game crashes for me, a lot... Didn't want to upgrade past 365.19, but might as well try it and see how it goes... -
Yeah. Even more disturbing is when it corrupts your save game file half way through and have to start over again.
-
Really? I have not had it crash even once on the P750ZM or P870DM-G. I did lose my progress once though... for no explainable reason. I've had the same issue in the past with cloud sync'd game crap, so I don't know if it is the game or the cloud that is to blame. I much prefer local save game files, and most of them I have found to be portable as long as the saved game files are saved with an identical path.
The only major annoyance for me has been how long it sometimes takes to start the game and how laggy and slide-show like the intro videos can be. That problem is the same on SSD or HDD (tried both). -
I've had one crash. Otherwise pretty stable. But I did lose progress once, thankfully I wasn't really that far into the game, about an hour or so. I have read it has something to do with dev mode, just bringing up the console (i.e. ~ key) in certain situations can corrupt the save file and all progress is lost. This is why I also like manual saves or rotating quick saves (i.e 3-5 quick saves that push out the oldest one with every new quick save). People snark back about how you don't need save anywhere or quick saves, well, this is one good reason to have it.
-
Yeah, I agree. The snarky punks don't know anything. The same clowns will argue about anything just because they like to hear their own voice or read their own posts. Being able to save your progress anywhere and as often as you feel like it instead of only at checkpoints should be required for all games. It is truly a shame that everything (hardware and software) is getting so dumbed-down to stimulate the sophomoric low-buck Walmart/Best Buy gamer-boys and console jockeys. I bet that is correct about the console access corrupting the saved games files.

But you guys, OG Doom didn't have quicksaves. Then again, that was a different time, games didn't have a lot of features (sometimes to an advantage though).
Personally, in case of Doom, I don't feel strong either way. I can see at least one advantage and disadvantage in both cases...
Nonetheless it should still be there, because who needs it will use it, and who doesn't - won't. No need to restrict players.
What I really miss is that wall humping sound... That comment on Honest Game Trailer video nailed it. Too bad Doom uses Denuvo... No chance we will see some mods... I was so looking forward to Rickrolling some demons...
That sure sucks...
Yeah, cloud saves can do that. I myself have experienced this a few times.
Maybe I should disable this features altogether, because I'm a kind of a guy who still manually saves game data to a different location for safe keeping, so no point in having someone else corrupting my save files.
I do appreciate some games, which let you choose if you want to use cloud saving or not (i.e. CiV, C:S).
I run this game off HDD, and yeah, launching the game is real PITA. It has to be one of the longest waits for game to launch. WTO certainly didn't take that long and it was about same size.
At least loading inside the game is faster...
Rotating quicksaves are awesome! Too bad only a very small portion of games do that anymore... In my recent memory I can only remember DOS...
I will try playing Doom without the OC, maybe it will help my situation... -
That was when everything was on floppies and hard drives were only about 40MB in size. But mainly for the reasons I mentioned about corrupt saved games. Good to have a backup or a choice of earlier saves in case one goes corrupt. Or even in cases where you are in a loop and it saves when you're almost dead and can't get out of a precarious spot. Has happened to me numerous times in the past with other games.TBoneSan likes this.

Ah yes, the simpler times... When you couldn't aim up and had to write down level codes.
You can still make a copy of your save game data you know. If saves get corrupted, they usually all get corrupted. Doesn't matter if it's a quicksave or an autosave. That's a flaw of cloud save thing. In such case it's better to disable that feature.
Seeing you guys had some problems with saves, I think I'm gonna make a backup of my own now...
Also, FML...
Did nail that rune trial in the end though... All of them...
Now I'm enjoying this fight:

Doom isn't my type of game, but I tried the demo just to see how it ran on my 980m and it only happened to me on first startup. Calling it a slideshow would be generous.
Runs well. with Vsync off/Ultra/TSSAA [8TX] 1080p: 80-107, 1440p: 50-70.
I hope Vulkan keeps showing up in new titles.Attached Files:

Here. I wrote this basic batch file. It will backup your Doom saved games folder and store it in the location of your choice and put a time stamp on it.
Default save location is C:\DoomSaves but edit the BAT file and change the "folderloc" variable to whatever path you want. It's highlighted in the batch file. Just be sure to put a backslash at the end of the path. Don't touch anything else!
Copy/Paste this into a notepad file and save as .bat (below the word Code: not including Code: )

What happened to the good old copy-paste? -
Haha, caught me. I was just going to do that. That's all that's needed. Edited last post for copy/paste code only. Plus I put a forward slash in the REMark instead of backslash like it should be. Oops. Fixed now in copy/paste code.

Joking aside, I disagree. Story or not I don't want to stumble upon how to beat a specific hurdle. Please use spoiler tags

You know that **** is about to get real when you see this:
Oh, now I see what you mean.
Wasn't that hard really. I found second stage of Cyberdemon to be much more challenging. Playing on Hurt Me Plenty.
Anyway, that spider thing uses shields, but when he charges you and for short time afterwards he drops them. That's when you must strike him. I completed the first stage using shotgun with grenade mod, very effective. At some parts of the fight he launches an energy ball whatchamacallit thingy. Once you see him charge it, shoot a nade at it, it will explode that thing next to him and hit him. Avoid fire either by moving (IMO that's a number one rule in Doom - always be on the move) or jump around like an idiot. Managed to complete the fight with most the the health intact, except for the very last part of the stage, when he attacked and dropped my health to 10HPs... Somehow I overlooked the attack... Luckily he had only about 10% of his health left. A couple of shotty nades and dodges did the trick.
The second stage was pretty straightforward. I used assault rifle with rocket mod. I have it fully upgraded, so it shoots rockets non stop. Don't be overwhelmed by two big dudes, that health bar is for both of them. They go down very easy with the said weapon. Didn't lose much health while fighting them.
Obviously BFG works for both stages very well, but if you are gonna fire at that spider thing, make sure he doesn't have his shield up, otherwise it's a waste of ammo...Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

So, finished the campaign. Took me 14 hours to finish it, so I would say it has the right length for an FPS. There are still a few secrets (like Doom 1 maps, only found few of them during the campaign), so I most definitely be going back for them.
And after finishing Doom, I still stand by my words, this game is awesome!
That last fight though, was a bit PITA. Cyberdemon still kicked my ass more, but this last guy was tougher to beat. And how they set up the ending you can bet your sweet ass there's gonna be another game or addon! -
Ugh. G-sync is NOT working with Doom. Driving me nuts. WTF Nvidia! It works fine with other games. I installed the DOOM driver update but it only broke G-sync.
-
funny thing i have never seen g-sync/free-sync in action since any video of it would lose the effect.
-
Seems to work for me when I played it with 368.51. Maybe give them a go
-
Have you seen this video yet? it helped me understand it better. (I've posted this video before and can't remember who all I've told about it)
-
Nope still doesn't work. I did a DDU uninstall too. Still not working.
Edit: Well it seems I have to set V-Sync in game for it to work. Normally I don't have to do that, I set G-sync in control panel and that sets up v-sync with G-sync automatically. Usually if I set v-sync iu game it runs like traditional V-sync.Last edited: Jun 25, 2016hmscott likes this. -

Anyone using a 980m on a 1440p monitor? Or, what settings are you using for 1080p?

Thinking about picking this up for my Inspiron 7559. Heard the MP is incredibly lackluster, but the single player is a blast.

I am. Will have to check my settings when I get home, but I'm pretty sure they're mostly high with stuff like HDR, bloom, and depth of field turned down or off entirely. That's mostly because I don't like those features rather than any performance loss that may occur when enabling or running them at high. Framerates are in the 50-60 range at 1440p. There are a few drops into the 40s but since I have a G-Sync monitor, they don't have a severely adverse effect on gameplay. -

Does anyone knows what sort of content there is gonna be in season pass. Is it gonna be more missions or just MP stuff? -
The official description said MP. Which I am sad about I want some SP content.
