Played Centaur yesterday. Pretty fun, a bit awkward at start, especially with his stomp, but once you get your items going, he starts to shine. His ult is fun to use and makes chasing a lot easier. Looking forward to playing more of him.

The only thing that sucked about my team was we had one of those douchy players playing Sniper and Lina. Both kept taking my kills and then as the game goes on, kept bashing me, saying I was bad cuz i wasn't getting kills and that they'd have to carry instead of me. Last I checked, Centaur was more of an initiator and tank and Sniper was supposed to be the hard carry. LULZ.

But we played against a silencer and man.....it was like i was silenced full-time....

Yeah Silencer against Centaur is pretty bad. I'd like to say that Dagon and Battle Fury would work on Centaur. Keep spamming nukes and Dagon, insta-death.

My way of playing Silencer is leveling Q as it falls off mid/late game as well as 1 level of the new ability and Glaives. Q spam will make them have no mana, which is death for an Agility carry early on and strength heroes as they almost always have an awful mana pool. I tend to get Arcane Boots early to keep Q spam up, then Force Staff, Mekasm, Rod of Atos, and if I'm really fed Scythe or Dagon. I haven't tried Orchid with Silencer, seems like fun even more Silence. I tend to find the hardest part about Silencer is timing your ultimate, when to use it and when not to. But now it's 4-5-6, I'll be surprised if Silencer does get more play, and now with his new ability, spamming ganking heroes like Zeus, QOP, Lina will be at the mercy of silence.

Man I LOVE Keeper of the Light. People REALLY underestimate his Q nuke range. 8-0-29, end game items, Force Staff, Blink Dagger, Rod of Atos, Mekasm, Scythe of Vyse. I had nearly as much gold as a fed Drow.

WD is really fun, one of my favorites to play (even though I haven't played him in a while). It's especially fun when you catch someone solo and you combo them with the cask, malediction, and then the ulti. Heck, that's more fun in teamfights.

Part of the reason he's crazy good is his ultimate. It's different from his original ultimate, Great Fortitude, which passively gave Centaur bonus strength. His new ultimate, as of changelog 6.76, is Stampede which practically turns his entire team into initiators. When activated, his entire team gets maximum movement speed and zero unit collision and you get bonus damage (some multiplier to your total STR). The best part is the stun. You can run through an enemy and stun him for 1.25 seconds.

The stun can guarantee kills, stop anyone with a channeled ulti like Witch Doctor, and prevent anyone from blinking away like QoP or AM. I've seen good combos where you stomp, double edge, and then stampede.

They changed his ultimate, gives a stun on hit, and he has an AOE stun, and 400 damage nuke damage. I can see Battlefury and Dagon being built with him. He's more stable than Magnus, too many people don't play him right.

Thanks for the clarification! But I must admit his old ultimate was pretty awesome though, although I forgot what it did, but I sensed he was different! That stun is surely strong indeed. Suddenly you catch someone, stun and boom goes the dynamite.

He's got some awesome tricks up his sleeve when cooperating with Furion, you know N's Prophet, and they've got some wicked sick installations once you time it right  -although that's what I am bad at, timing...

Which is why Wisp is banned alot in tournaments now. Case in point, last night M5 vs Zero, they kept on banning Wisp. Lots of combos with Wisp, Ursa, Chaos Knight, Viper.

2 good games with Hime last night.

First game I randomed because I thought we were playing the halloween event game (forgot the name) and didn't really care who I got cuz I just wanted to try it out. Got Magnus and about 5 minutes in, realized we were in a real game. Laned with a Riki and ended up helping him get fed. During ganks and teamfights, I'd just empower him to boost his damage up and it worked perfectly. I think he ended up getting his diffusal blade really fast. Skewer is really a fun ability.

Second game, I was Windrunner and Hime was Silencer. Fun game, got in a lot of lucky powershot kills. Hime was nerfing the hell out of everyone with his silences and I forgot who else was on our team, but they did good, too. Dire team ended up rage quitting.

Hah yeah! Do it! Next time you play Silencer, get an orchid! Before changelog 6.76 came out, I was reading on this reddit post about it and some people were saying that orchid would be so dangerous on him. So many silences!

Anyone know when Direfest ends? I really wanna try it.

Wait, are you asking if it's a bad build? Looks like a normal riki build to me. Only thing I would concern is the vlad and vanguard. You can probably do away with one and just use the other and be fine.

You don't really need vanguard or lifesteal if you know what you're doing. I usually work on an eaglehorn after the usual diffusal, sny, skull basher trio. The three are sufficient to carry you through much of the game in a teamfight. Riki is really about cloud placement and judicious selection of who to attack during teamfights, which usually separates a typical Riki from a good Riki player. He is one of the few heros who can shut down a rabid Lifestealer (especially with abyssal blade)

The reason why I went Vanguard is I start Riki off with 3 branches, stout shield, tango and salve. I build into Ring of Health immediately, so next item is instinctively Vanguard. Biggest reason why I got Vanguard was their Spirit Breaker was pretty fed, and proc'd his passive Bash quite a bit. There were times I got chain disabled and trust me Vanguard saved me plenty of times. Sure it's not a typical Riki build, but it was a build that kept me farming til I got Diffusal Blade to start ganking and I grew out of control. I got Vlad end game.

I do safe builds, I'd rather do a safe build, except for like Bloodseeker which I am accustomed to playing on the edge.

Well the reason why I say living on the edge is Bloodseeker falls off REALLY fast mid game if you don't gank hard and level up fast. There's not much time to farm unless you go for a Radiance build, and I think it's a dumb build. You should go stout shield, Force Staff, Sange and Yasha, Skullbasher, Butterfly, etc.

Finally played the diretide event yesterday. It's actually pretty fun because it takes out the normalcy of the game. Instead of staying in lane to farm, which actually has no point in that game mode, you and your team can roam right away and try to snag a kill or try and raid the enemy bucket. You don't necessarily go for your normal item builds or even skill builds. I just had a good time with it.

I ended up going with SK because I wanted someone that was really tanky, can hit erally hard, and I wanted the added bonus of his reincarnation. It worked out to our advantage because during team fights, the other team would focus me down because I had candy on me, like literally use all their ults and stuff, but then after they killed me, the rest of my team easily peeled them apart and then I'd reincarnate with all my candy and finish anyone off and turn the candy in. Good times.....except for when we were fighting roshan. Our Chen was such a troll...he'd keep sending us back to base whenever his CD was up. The other team's Pudge kept hooking people from a distance and he raided our bucket, go SO MUCH candy and placed them around roshan...which did nothing other than some of us accidentally clicking on them and making us weaker for the fight. Got two items though, pretty happy.

Does anyone else have an issue where their "High Shadows" setting results in shadows that look like this pixelated mess?

If you have smooth shadows at High (that don't look ty like mine do), you may be able to help. According to this thread, sharing your cfg folder (zipping it up and uploading it) can/may resolve the issue.

If you don't mind helping a brotha out, PM me. I'd need you to zip up the "cfg" folder (Steam --> steamapps --> common --> dota2beta --> dota) and upload it to dropbox/mediafire/wherever.

I see. Yea usually i pick Riki against DPS-reliant heros like void and naix but if the team has some major single-target nukers in the mix get Linkens (from the RoH) rather than SnY. I find the mobility of SnY is usually good enough to evade/chase those hard carries...

When you play riki in pubs though, 9 times out of 10, you don't need to worry about getting countered with dust/sentries. At least for the part of the bell-curve we're all on, everyone's too stubborn to buy that early on, only to buy it later in the game where riki is already farmed and dangerous.

Very true. I love laning against riki (or Broodmother, or BH) early cause it's fun to score a free kill and then keep them away from the farm. people in our skill level don't know what to do when that happens.

I always get sentry wards, at least when I play support against an invisible hero. Good way to mess up their farm is to get early ganks, as they don't know when you will strike next/place another sentry ward.

    https://dotabuff.com/matches/61646117

We were GOING to lose, but they kept on suicide pushing our base. We eventually chain stunned them and well you know how Lina works. Stun, Q, auto attack, Laguna Blade bam. Crit 900+ and lifesteal. Took down a REALLY fed Phantom Assassin, Lifestealer, you name it. Ironically PA kept on murdering our AM (o.o) but we won!

Rubick requires knowing his limits, but it's easier if you have Force Staff and Blink Dagger. It's a shame his disable doesn't deal damage. And I think Rubick also requires luck, depend on which skills you manage to steal. Dendi has an okay Rubick, they punished iG in the Winner's Bracket with Rubick stealing Ravage almost all the time.

Wow this got 4 pages deep into the gaming thread abyss....=(

    Anyways, I'll bump it.

Just got out of a random draft a few moments ago. The heroes to pick from were all bad for me (by that I mean, heroes I was not good with or heroes I have never played). So, I decided to finally try Omni. Not too difficult and pretty simple for the most part. We had a Dazzle, but he was going for a more DPS-oriented build, but still his heals + my Q and R + mek made things a lot easier for us. All my kills except for 1 were from Purification. Haha. A few were kill steals, I'm sure, but some were also when we were chasing and the enemy was just too far out of reach and most were oom and I had just enough range for purification to hit.

Never been complimented before while playing a hero for the first time. And I guess I never forced anyone to rage quit before. Killed that BS and he left. haha. (yeah I missed my highlight, but I actually had the compliment highlighted and right when I hit the screenshot button someone posted in all chat)

Quite possibly my best game as AM. Heart of Tarrasque, BKB, Monkey King Bar, Divine Rapier, Battlefury, treads AND still had 8k gold left over, debated buying a 2nd Divine Rapier lol. Also highest GPM overall, 758 a new record for my AM, though short like 17 last hits for most last hits in a game.

Once my friends that I normally played with back in like the spring/summer/early fall slowed down/stopped playing, I noticed I started to slow down, too. I haven't actually sat down and played like I used to for hella weeks now. I'll hop on every once in a while, play with Hime every once in a while, but mostly, when I log on, I end up just spectating some live games and then logging off.

I'm still sad we didnt get to do our NBR in-house game.

:| Playing Invoker with bots is totally different than real games...I wasn't too horrible but it's different getting all the spells off.

Played another omniknight game last night. Early game was pretty horrid. During the picking stage, one person immediately picked Luna and claimed mid, which was right. But then someone picked another mid hero, Zeus, and he ended up laning with me. Anyways, early game was rough, but mid-late was where things turned. My k/d/a ratio was terrible, but I was able to keep our team alive. I had to play as a complete support as our shadow shaman was going more of a DPS build. I bought courier, flying courier, mana boots, and I had to make the decision to either buy wards or finish my mek. Chose mek and it was the better choice. I was able to keep our team healed with my heal and mek, kept Axe alive with Repel + Ulti. Awesome time being a healadin again (used to play a holy paladin in WoW).
