Feels like no one plays DotA 2 anymore every time I see this thread on the 4th page or so. Wahhhhhh. haha
Nothing much to add, just wanted to bump. Had another omniknight game. 0/0/6 but kept my team alive and had some clutch heals + ult that allowed our Drow to snowball. Then again I think the MMS put us against some folks that were fairly new to the game and we just stomped them.

oh wow. hahaha. That's pretty cool to get placed against a pro team. It'd be tight to see how they would strategically demolish the team I was on.

I heard in a changelog coming soon they are going to nerf BKB... -

Hmmmmm i wonder what it'll be.... -

Played a few games of the winter event, Greeviling, last night and I like it better than the Diretide event. It seems that picking a hero with stuns or disables win you fights. Played mainly as Sven, Skeleton King, Vengeful, and Rhasta and they won us team fights that guaranteed us greeviling kills or contesting the enemy team while they fought greeviling camps.
Sniper and Furion seem to be fcked in this game as they can snipe down and steal your greeviling kills. Played against a sniper that used the range of his assassination to his advantage and stayed withint he fog of war, but just close enough to be in range of the greeviling. ONce we got it down to 10%, he'd snipe it down..... -

How to do a troll Bloodseeker build. Step 1: Get Radiance.Step 2: ??? Step 3: WIN!
-
Anybody know what to get on timbersaw other than bloodstone? Everything seems to work, but nothing seems to synergize with him that well.
-
-
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Radiance is usually a horrible item to get on Bloodseeker, requires way too much gold, and there are far better items on him, like Dadelus along with Butterfly. But I used Radiance just to DPS people to death, and built into other items. That game I knew we were going to win, all their heroes would run with Rupture, and the 1st kill I had on Pudge set the tone for the game (ultimate ganker gets ganked).
-
Again, Radiance is a standard item on Bloodseeker. It's not horrible. That "Horrible item" is used on Bloodseeker constantly in the competetive scene.
-
Yeah I wouldn't say radiance is necessarily a horrible item on BS. It gives him some sort of AoE presence which he lacks and allows him to be somewhat viable lategame. But of course, that's all depending on the situation. I'd say get Radiance if you're getting great CS, kills, and you can get it by the 20min mark without a death, maybe 1 or 2. But if you're dying more than that, then forget about it. No point in trying to save all your "catching-up" gold to get it.

I've never seen Bloodseeker used in the competitive scene as 1) he is an Agility carry that doesn't scale well into late game 2) a ganker that is VERY level dependent 3) has skills which can be beat by a simple TP scroll. Honestly Bloodseeker is just a pub stomp hero. Sure IF Bloodseeker gets farm, he can be viable, but that can be ANY agility hard carry, and there are far better ones, like Faceless Void, Anti-Mage, Phantom Lancer (which by the way is much more viable, and used alot now in pro matches). Like I said, if ANY agility carry is fed, they will dominate, as you saw with my 23-2-12 record. IMO Bloodseeker needs to feed in the fact your enemy doesn't know how to counter him, and in pro matches, they plan for nearly every scenario.
Sure a typical Bloodseeker build would be: tango, quelling blade, stout shield into agility treads, poor man's shield, bottle, then usually force staff, S&Y, Butterfly. IMO he needs a stun or AOE damage to slowly whittle down enemies.
Bloodseeker should NOT be farming, like I said he is VERY level dependent, once you hit 6, you should be ganking 24/7. The fact people use BS to jungle makes me want to bang my head against the wall, I can play a very dominant BS and it just sickens me when people don't know how to use him, I call one of the ultimate gankers. -

My same reaction jaug. Big plays.
Anyways, been playing ezmode Drow lately and I'm not gonna front, ezmode is fun. Haha.
I start off with 3xSlippers/branch/salve. Sounds a bit much, but I live by it now. I know I'll get hated on for saying this, but I start by putting my first level into stats and then another at level 4. The extra HP and dmg, to me, seems really beneficial for the start of the game. After that, I go into frost arrow and depending on my team and the other team, either the silence or aura. i'll build treads first and then lothars then daedalus. After that it's a toss up. But after level 6 and grabbing lothars and crystalis, it's melt face time.
Had a game yesterday, I got super farmed (then again, I attribute it to having a competent team), ended up 23/3/16, treads/loathars/daedalus/satanic/bkb. I didn't even really need BKB, that's why I got it last, just because the Meepo started getting farm and his poofs were starting to hurt. -
I haven't played in over a month. I bet I suck now. Oh well. Maybe I'll start playing again sometime.

Haha doooo itt Tree! We should all hop in a game together!
I stopped playing after my friends all started school back in Fall. I'd dabble here and there, but I always watched streams and youtube channels like Purge and Alan, so I always had the itching DotA 2 bug. I just started playing again.
Had a good game as Vengeful last night. Safe lane with Void and I was able to deny and harass to get our Void early game farm. Pulling and stacking and warding, full support. Then during team fights, I noticed, for some reason, they would focus me down. After Mek, got a Vanguard, and with STR treads, I was pretty tanky. -

Got gifted DotA 2 recently, and I've been playing it for a couple of nights. This is the second MOBA I've ever played, the first being Stellar Impact (which I chatter on about in this thread).
It's been interesting having to adjust. Since Stellar Impact is MOBA IN SPACE, the concept of melee heroes kind of threw me for a loop. Also, I can't hide behind my minions or other player. SI is collision based, so if someone shoots their cannons or missiles at you, if you hide behind an asteroid or a tanky teammate or your own creeps (or even an enemy missile turret), you can escape damage. As far as I can tell, Windrunner or Sniper or Drow or whatever can shoot over/through your creeps to kill you. Also, the game seems much faster. I'll be strolling around one minute, and then 3 seconds and 2 stuns later I'm waiting to respawn. The only time I've ever seen anyone die that quickly is when a corvette or frigate with no hull upgrades eats level 3 torpedoes while being debuffed by Scanner (which is instant death), which is tough, since torps are a relatively slow skillshot and the corvette is a like a flea on speed.
Off-tangent comparisons aside, I've been having fun, though I'm not even thinking of taking on human players yet. Mostly practicing with humans vs bots games. I've only tried Sniper, Riki, Windrunner, Luna, Mirana, Omniknight, and Phantom Lancer. Of those that I tried, I'm feeling most comfortable with Lancer, Windrunner, and Mirana, since they all have escape skills. (Going back to SI, all of my ship builds, from the speedy corvette to the fatty fat fat dreadnought and carrier, have Quantum Leap, the Blink equivalent). And, of those three, I like Phantom Lancer the best. Eight clones (plus 2 more with Manta) is funny to watch, plus the decoy thing is good. My opinion might change when I play actual people, since I bet the clones will be countered more easily, but meh. It's also kind of tough since he seems to need XP and gold to get truly effective, but at least I'm familiar with the concept of a lategame character. (Early game dreadnought is slow, blind, and squishy. But may God have mercy on your soul if you allow a dreadnought to get fully upgraded guns and tank; a fully upgraded corvette with 4000 shields and 10.5 speed will find all its shields gone before it even gets into attack range).
Anyway, that's my long ramble. I'll probably be hanging out in this thread now that I've gotten the game. -
So... I have 16 Dota 2 invites as of right now
... and I've been giving them away on the forum and to three of my friends...
-
I love dota 2. That is all. Carry on as you were.
-
Do we have enough players for an inhouse round or something?
-
I'm sure we do, someone just needs to organize it. I can only play at odd hours though.

Man oh man, so last night, I was able to play a few games with a friend I haven't played DotA2 with for a while since he got busy with work and I miss the days of queuing with friends and skyping. Our first game, I played Shadow Demon and he went Omni. Then, for some reason or other, the rest of our team picked Vengeful, Necrolyte, and Dazzle. The Radiant team consisted of Void/Sven/WD/Drow/Warlock. We absolutely had no chance.
Next game, some guy on our team randomed Huskar but didn't wanna play him. He told me to get Alch and we swapped. First time playing Huskar and he was pretty fun. Played mid and once I got my treads and urn, I went on a ganking spree. Got lucky early with a few invis and haste runes that lead to us getting some early T1 towers. It was fun when Disruptor tried to put me in the kinetic field and just before he ulted in there, I was able to ult towards him and take him down. Then once I got shadow blade and scepter, it was practically over for them. Fun game. Think I went like 16/2 or something.
Our last game, I decided to play Viper and that was a good game, too. The Dire, tried to tri-lane to get their Drow fed, but our guys at top held them off fairly well for a 2v3. I was in safe lane with an Omni against a solo BH. We were able to deny and harass him well and I was able to stay within levels of him. Things started rolling for me after I got treads, shadow blade, and crystalis. After I got heart, I just became too much for the Dire to take on. I was practically soloing Drow and BH. Our Phantom Lancer, got pretty fed, too, and he was getting mad for not getting as many kills. Can't help it when all my DoTs are ticking =). I think I went like 19/3 that game.
Can't wait to play more Huskar and Viper. I really wanna learn how to play a good Shadow Demon support though (no more disrupting our focus target...lol) -
Now may be the time to get a team together. Team matchmaking is now included in the latest update, and combined with the new calendar feature, could help us get team(s) together based on time zone, schedule, etc. See the updates on the dota blog below

So this past weekend, I've been playing against hard bots with a friend and his friend because his friend is learning the game. Never really realized how ballsy the bots can be. Anyways, had two good games yesterday against the hard bots. One as lolDrow. Got so beefy and played her so perfectly, that I was able to get a rapier. She becomes even more lolsy. The other game was as Gyro. 3 of our teammates dropped, so it was just me and this Jakiro. I had a slow start, so my farm was horrible. For some reason, the Jakiro just wanted for farm. I have no idea why. So I farmed for BKB and that got me strong enough to 1v1 the kunkka. Then I got heart, which got me strong enough to take on the beefy Necro. Then I got rapier and was strong enough to take them on 2v1, while still pushing....all while the Jakiro farmed the jungle. Fun games though. -

Played some Slark yesterday. I feel like I say this about all the heroes I play, but Slark was pretty fun to play. I made the mistake from early to midgame, thinking that Pounce was a target point ability. I was jumping all over the place and even, I was chasing an enemy and right when my pounce was up, I ended up pouncing in completely the opposite direction of the enemy [._.]. Then I finally decided to read the pounce tooltip and facepalmed. After that my pounces got somewhat better. The Radiant team was a stun-happy team (Lina/Luna/CK/Sven/Skeleton King) and ours, a bit more squishy (slark/zeus/drow/BS/sniper). I decided to just rush BKB after treads because I would get stunlocked to death after pouncing into a teamfight. After that, I was able to actually pounce in and latch people and with drow and me taking folks own and sniper/BS/zeus finishing off anyone who was getting away with low HP. It was a fun game. -

haha yesterday I actually got out of a stun because of it. But notice I said "a" stun...when in team fights, I ate at least 3-4 stuns to the face.
I'll probably play more Slark in my next couple of games. Slark and Bane. Bane's real fun, too. -
Have you guys tried roshing at lvl 1? Gives you a really good early game advantage, but you need at a party of 3 to do it.
-
-
-
when i see hero combos that can rosh at lvl 1, I always check rosh pit before heading to lane. let them work rosh down a bit then come in get three kills + rosh. woot.
-
Tried out the new hero, Tusk. Laned with Centaur and that's a deadly combo. Snowball with Centaur, collide, Ice Shards, Centaur stun, Walrus Punch, Centaur's double punch. Tusk's ally sayings with Centaur are pretty hilarious.
-
Dear god Valve gave Baka more DotA 2 invites ._. Why not just make it open beta already instead of spamming these invites
-
-
i offered this on another thread, but so far no takers. got 3 invites. anyone interested?
-
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
It's about to go out of "closed" beta, but still going to be beta status when it is opened up. Won't be official til all the rest of the heroes are launched, and they missing quite a few heroes.

Played around Sunday night as skeleton king against bots with friends. Didn't take the game seriously and was just roaming around and failing at ganking. Then when after 5-6 deaths, I was like, "ok...serious mode." lol. By that time, the bots were so fed, especially a deso sniper at the 20min mark. Man oh man, we lost to bots at 30mins. hahaha. It was sad, but hilarious. We couldn't help but just laugh at it.
I also learned how to double pull a single creep wave on the dire side. I learned how to pull the easy camp and then lead them on over to that medium camp. I've watched videos of how to do it on the radiant side (pull creep to that normal pull camp...then just before that camp is finished, eat a tree at the top of the camp to get to one of the medium camps and pull that group to the creep wave). A bit more difficult. -
A couple days ago, some of my homies I used to play with were on and we did a 5-stack queue. Felt good to finally get into a game with people who I know actually know the game. haha.
Anyways, the first game we played ended up being an AR match and I got Chen. First time playing Chen and of course, nervous as heck. I always get nervous playing someone that requires tons of micro, but to my surprise, I did pretty well. I was actually able to micro through my creep to use their abilities, like Centaur's clap and Troll's net, to get some kills. Still gonna avoid playing him though..unless I get him in an AR again. lol.
Other than that, I played some more Bane and it was pretty satisfying going 1v1 with a riki and 1v1 with an AM and taking them down. Him and Naga have some really funny sayings with each other. My favorite one was Naga saying, "With you, Bane, I can sing them to sleep and then after you can put them into a nightmare! muhahah" or something to that effect. -
God I hope skywrath mage gets added next week. They started adding new heroes more frequently so I hope he doesn't get delayed too much.
