Jakiro is one of the best int heroes in the game. He can fend off or push the entire team even if they have a hundred creeps.
-
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Jakiro is better than Outworld Destroyer? O__O
Edit: so HAHAHAHAHA pwned as BloodSeeker; 18-1. Got early ganks on Drow and Riki who weren't good at their jobs. Eventually got fed so much I had Tarrasque, Daedalus, Sange and Yasha, and end game bought a BKB. -
Jakiro is better at crowd control while OD is better at one on one so both heroes have specific roles.
-
I played 2 games at Gyrocopter yesterday. It's amazing how in both games, on my team, there was also a Chaos Knight and a Phantom Assassin and on the other team, there was always some pro Sniper. Gyro was pretty fun to play, but you just have time your attacks/ganks perfectly. Had a some perfect ganks yesterday when laning with Bounty Hunter. He'd invisi, I'd hide in the forest and set my homing missile. Once it got within range of the Invoker, BH came in for the attack, my missile stunned, and we got the kill. We owned that invoker many times like that. Gyro did feel a bit awkward in team fights though. I was always confused on what to do. -
I've got 3 exams left
-
Jakiro is a pure team fighter, pretty useless alone... and the enemy team has to be stupid for his ult to be effective (stand in fire durr).
For crowd control/pushing lanes and team fights I'm convinced there is none better than death prophet. Early game she can solo a lane against any 2 (sometimes 3...) players and still win it, mid game her ult is terrifying to the enemy team they will try to wait until you don't have it up to even try engaging, and late game her long aoe silence is devastating in team fights. She scales way too well for hp, usually by mid game I have more hp than our str tank heros and by the end of the game I have something like 3500+ hp... which is fully restored after a successful ult use so it's very hard to kill me.
I feel that bloodseeker is useless compared to other options, if he catches you alone (usually early game he will try ganks) you can counter him and his ult by just using a teleport scroll and there is nothing he can do to stop it. -
Of course this is all given that the other 4 players on your team can take on the other team. -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Bloodseeker IS easy to counter, however people activate the ultimate at the wrong time. People use the ult then try to chase. You gotta get in close and do damage, THEN pop the ult if they are half health or trying to run away. Point in case, I always hit this Enchantress yesterday with ult, and she kept on running (fast) and Rupture pwned her so bad. But BS's Q skill is quite deadly against early carrys like Zeus or Riki, 7 second Silence is DEADLY against them. That and when I get Crit, you won't escape with, as I'll use Rupture if you try to run away.
Death Prophet is pretty broken, but I feel she REALLY depends on her skills, not that there aren't other heroes that also depend on skills. Her normal attack is kinda short, and until you boost up her speed with her passive, I feel like she's too squishy. -
And suddenly Hime's the Bloodseeker expert
And Hime seems to think every hero are played the same, attacking fast and doing damage. Death Prophet's played differently than all the heroes that Hime ever tried. -
Bloodseeker can just be countered with a TP scroll
unless your early game went terribly bad o.o

Heh don't mind me. Since I started playing in 2006 I must have played 6000+ games at the original Dota.
I used to save replays often whenever I won and had a good score (used to play way more seriously back in the day) and I remember having 2000 replays saved in my old Asus Laptop.
Many more on my HP laptop that I had for about a year and I really stopped saving replays as often on my current Gateway machine. -
Baka only started playing since 2008 and barely plays ._. Maybe a total of 150-200 games up til now
-
I had a crazy realization the other day about games played. I was just waiting for my queue to pop (US West servers were broken yesterday...15+ min queue srsly?!?) and I decided to spend the time looking at people's profiles. I just averaged it out that a DotA games last around an hour (again, just an average). When I saw people with 250+ wins, I was like, "HOLY wow...that's 250 hours played!" and that's not even counting their losses.
Anyways, are any of you keeping up with the DotA2 tournament qualifiers going on? If so, where do you watch the replays? One of the DotA youtubers I follow, Purge, did one for the VP/MTW game, but I haven't been able to find if he's done any others. -
I have 260 wins and 300+ losses on LoL hehe. Damn leavers and noob teammates. But LoL has a faster paced so you won't reach an hour. For Dota2, I prefer 40 min per game. If I reach 1 hour or more, it's either the opponent is really good or my team mates suck.
-
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
That and Dota 2 has been having connection and shop issues lately.. -
For LoL, you can surrender so at least you won't be wasting time that much. But for Dota2, you're stuck with the game unless someone disconnects or you can just diss your noob team mates till the game ends.=D
-
LoL has leavers but they can't join another game until the game is over otherwise they're stuck in the reconnecting screen
Most of them come back and start feeding to end the game faster with a surrender vote -
-
Had another bad day for DotA yesterday. Haha. I really wanna know how the match making system works after yesterday. In 2 of the games I played, I got stuck with players who had 0-5 wins and the radiant team we played against had 30+ wins each, 4 of them from the same clan/guild/team. I read somewhere that you get matched with people around your skill level after so many games played, but I highly doubt yesterdays games were skill matched. Needless to say, the game ended at 25 minutes.

Baka is getting tired with Hime calling every hero that Hime doesn't play well useless or hard. Hime was complaining how bad faceless void's attack animation is and how hard it is to last hit with it even when void has one of the highest if not the highest base damage in the game
Also, Baka does not approve of rushing mask of madness on faceless. Especially if the opponent is dominating. It's pretty much throwing away any winning chance. -
I've heard that there isn't a skill level rating per se, it's more of a skill tier. So you'd have 3-4 tiers (low med high pro?) and I can easily see most of the playerbase being lumped into the med tier, leading to funky matchmaking. Also I have noticed that the game will 'punish' you for winning too many games in a row - win more than 4 in a row and it will put you with a team of baddies, more than 5 in a row and you'll likely face a premade with your pub team. -

End game Faceless is probably one of the most broken heros, again if built right, up there with Outworld, CK.
-
-
Vanguard? >_<
-
Baka personally builds SnY first ._.
And afk farm for the whole game til Baka actually becomes useful -
-
Faceless void was one of my favourites, cause he was like an underdog in dota 1 and no one really knew how to play him at first. So I tried him and damn he was OP if played right, especially when perma-bash was possible.
Anyways I tried one game with void in dota 2 just now and got 11/0/7. What really is bad about MoM is a good team will take advantage of the increased dmg that you take. It really isn't worth it imo. I went with SnY and helm of dominator.
Start with quelling blade please if last hitting is hard.
-
Most of my starting builds are usually... flask, tango x 2, branch, branch, branch, branch or quelling.
-
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
So Queen of Pain is a good character, but yet again a crappy team makes us lose. Nubby Brewmaster quit after being 1-5, and out Juggernaunt was D/C half the game, still 7-3 as QoP. Nasty char, just nuke, blink and nuke again.
Good game as Chaos Knight, 1st ever in pub 5-1. Though the other team was really bad, he isn't terribly difficult...when you don't know people trying to prevent you from farm. :| -
WOOP. Pretty happy about this past weekend and how DotA2 went for me. Practically played all weekend.
Friday night: I finally got the hang of how to own with gyro. He's pretty easy to harass with his Homing Missile early game since most aren't really watching out for his missile. They get stunned, they B, and I get some free farm. Now when the opportunity arises for a gank, I time my missile so that the missile hits at the same time my teammate comes in for the gank and then rocket barrage to deplete their hp. This is pretty much how I approach team fights. Hang around in the back or hide in the forest, missile once the fight is initiated, place my ulti in the area of the fight, and then move in for the barrage to finish off people. Good times. I like to go for a fast aghanim's after getting treads. Really helps to be able to have a global ulti for when a team fight happens and I'm on the otherside of the map farming.
Saturday: Didn't get to play really as I was at a nephew's bday party, but before the party I decided to get a few games in. Won some games as WD, Gyro, and I ended up looting an off-hand warblade for Bloodseeker twice. Some guy traded for a full Witch Doctor set for one of my warblades. SWEET. After the party, I went to San Francisco to watch The Temper Trap concert, but on my way to SF, my friend texts me to say that he got his DotA2 invite. He's been waiting for it for months and it turns out, he got it a month or so back....it was just in his spam folder. Haha. So when I got back home later that night, I hopped on and we ran a few lobby games so I could show him the ropes a little.
Sunday: Man oh man, the first game of the night, I played with 3 of my other friends. During the early game, we were getting stomped, like we lost our t2 towers for both mid and bot even before the 20 minute mark and we were losing a majority of the team fights. By the 30 minute mark, for some reason, the enemy team seemed like they weren't trying to push to end. We held our defense pretty strong and we started catching some opponents by themselves. After that, we came back so strong that we won the game. Our next game, was almost like that first. We were the ones who started off strong and it seemed like victory was in our reaches.........until Riki and Enigma got fat. One of the most ownage combos I've seen is Riki's cloud (forgot the actual name) and then Enigma's black hole on top of it. (X_x) ggkids. -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Team that doesn't buy wards = lose. >:[
-
Baka's starting to get the hang of playing Clinkz though ._. -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
You could combo Lich's ult with that, everyone all bunched up, or Outworld Destroyer, plenty of huge AOE nukes.
-
Ahh yeah. Come to think of it, in that game I was talknig with the black hole + riki cloud, there was also a pudge. =\. So much AoE.
I did a little pubstomping yesterday with bloodseeker. I love catching unsuspecting people with his ult. I was able to catch a fast radiance (helped me farm up real fast) and then I went for a shadowblade (stealth + bloodseeker equals plenty of moments where the announcer will call you GODLIKE). With those two, I was able to get fat with bloodseeker that it wasn't even fair to use his Q on people anymore. I'd just use my ult on people and then cast Q on myself for the increased damage. It was my first time really playing with him, too.
I also watched somebody on my team yesterday loot the stumpy courier =\. I want that. -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
The best thing to do with BS is slowly chip away the health then pop Rupture, then GG. -
-
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Yeah I hate Tiny, passive mini-stun is annoying when he's like over level 20 and he's a tank.
Also Blood Rage is super GG against Storm Spirit, he can't even use his ult to escape. -
Get Radiance, Shadow Blade then Orchid of Malevolence on Bloodseeker. Watch them drop like flies. You don't need to cast Q on spellcasters. Orchid them, ult, Q yourself and destroy them in 3-4 seconds then shadow blade away. Grab BKB afterwards.
SnY works too but the silence from orchid is valuable in teamfights. Then grab an Abyssal Blade or Satanic as last item :3 -
Speaking of which, I think playing Bloodseeker allows you to work on your last hits. I think BS is pretty farm dependent and with his passive that heals you for every kill you get, you have to get most, if not all, last hits with him in the early game so you can stay in the lane longer and level/build effectively. Plus, with my starting build, I don't get any tangos/salves particularly because of that passive heal and I think it's helping me to learn how to get my last hits without losing too much HP or it's helping me to stay active in moving in for the last hit, then out, then dance around to wait for the last hit, and then back in. -
Just start Quelling Blade, tango and a shield. That'll suffice
-
Haha yeah that's close to what I start with. Quelling blade, shield, and 2 branches. I figured I won't really need to use tangos with his passive.
-
Personally Baka grabbed tangos just in case of getting nuked or ganked and want to heal just enough to prevent getting killed by a combo and can still last hit to heal back
That, and the fact that tangos can save lives by eating through trees -
Ahhh true true. I was mid laning vs a tidehunter yesterday and there were times where a tango could have helped. Luckily, I harassed him really hard early on and whenever I came in for the LH, he would think I'm coming in for the harass and he would b. Actually that worked in the next game against batrider.
What heroes are you guys currently playing? I'm thinking after bloodseeker, I wanna try and play either Enigma or Lina. -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Yeah that's the build I do. Quelling blade helps all melee heros with creeps with bonus damage, shield stops some melee damage, and tangos just in case. Depends who you are laning with, I tend to buy more tangos until I can level Blood Thirst up properly. I tend to go into the Poor Man's Shield first then boots into Power Treads.
Lina is a hard character to play, and you NEED good support, aka a tank or another stunner as she is 2nd squishiest character in the game, right behind Sniper. She can easily do ~1300ish damage with Q and ultimate with Sceptre, but you still need to stay behind your teammates. And you need to time her stun, there's a .5 second delay, but it has a decent AOE and can stun their entire team if timed right. -
Yeah I go poor man's shield first before treads.
The reason I wanna play Lina is because on Sunday, I wanted to watch some live games going on and I noticed that the Na'Vi team was in a pub, I guess practicing for dreamhack, and one of them was playing Lina. His Lina play was so perfect and he was so fast with blink dagger. I dunno if I can be like that, but he made Lina look a lot of fun. -
There are multiple ways of playing Lina. Nuker, ganker or carry ._.
Lina's one of those caster who actually buys auto attack items like MKB and Daedalus and still makes full use of them
Also, Baka plays pretty much all the heroes provided Baka does not lag
Though Baka is better at some than others ._.
