I tried Spirit Breaker for the first time last night. Oh my gosh, he is so fun. Though, I die ridiculously fast. -unsure of what to build on him- Also, so I see that they changed the skill level brackets: (Low, Medium, High) to (Normal, High, Very High). -placed in normal and some high games-

Anyways for Spirit Breaker, I went... Phase, MoM, BKB, MKB... What should I build instead? ;o

 

Along with what you already have, you could also have gotten a vanguard for the extra dmg block or a blade mail for that offensive defensiveness.

You were probably dying fast due to MoM's effect.

 

MoM increases damage you take by 30% which for an underleveled Spirit Breaker is game over. Even I don't like MoM as Faceless Void, too many risks from ranged attackers not trapped inside Chornosphere.

Had 2 good games as Mirana, completely dominated them from the beginning. Man that arrow is a great gank.

 

I have nothing important to add at the moment....

So I'll just say I can't wait to get home and play some Dota.

Are you guys serious you don't ever go Aghanim's for spiritbreaker? Should try it . SB is about staying ahead with his extreme early game dmg, getting last hits like a boss and just wrecking certain low hp heroes. AKA play aggressively.

Honestly SnY + helm of dom is usually my choice of items for most carries. I mean you can then go with treads as well for a little more stat boost. Got the attack speed and little more health. Got the movement speed and a maim effect. It's usually sufficient enough atk speed for some basic bashing, and you can get a cuirass later if you want.

MoM isn't worth it imo if you're trying to attack fast and get bashes.There are slight cooldowns between the bashes and you can't stack skill bash + cranium basher etc. Also you can get stunned/slowed/disabled/kited and that almost renders your MoM useless and suddenly you're taking 30% more damage and doing no damage in return.

Helm of dom gives 15% lifesteal, some armor and some extra dmg. It is better imo and it also can lead to a Satanic upgrade later down the road. These little things do matter .

Then do what you do with getting damage items like Daedalus/MKB. Get some high DPS and with aghanim's you can just trainwreck people all day (20s CD ulti ). Spell immune during the blink.

Get a halberd if you want to shut down some carries, that or satanic + blademail for hax. If it's quite annoyingly hard to move get BKB, or blademail for nukers. Get heart if you feel like you want more survivability .

That's pretty much how i build SB lol. Really just get items depending on team comps and look at what you need. Gotta stay on top of the farm(like all carries), just destroy weak heroes whenever possible(free food plz), and get those last hits + denies! IDK if SB is easy or not but he is one hell of a beast when played well xD. Adapt items to your playstyle :O. Get Vladmir's if you want some other attack modifier etc.

I think I played too much Dota 1 back in the day, and now I'm typing too much LOL

P.S. I hope they add DotA 2 exclusive heroes eventually :O. Anyone know if that's gonna ever happen?

End game, Powertreads, Vladmir, Black King Bar, Abyssal Blade. Nasty nasty stuff.

 

How're the games like when youre teamed up with higher levels?

I finally picked up the workings of this game to understand how to play but so far had 4 games straight where I had EPIC feeders (examples; 15+ deaths within less than 30mins of gameplay) and can't seem to catch a break.

 

Baka is very bad at DotA 2 and most people here plays on USW servers where Baka gets a minimum of 320ms ping and there's a distinct 1 second lag in between commands for Baka ._. So Baka does not play much.

 

Wait I thought you were like a god in Dota 2 ._.

Hime's better than Baka in DotA 2 ._.

Ask Hime. Hime played with Baka quite a few times.

In fact, Baka hasn't played most of the heroes yet ._.

 

Played 2 games as yurnero yesterday and those were mad fun games. First game, I couldn't get any kills myself cuz the person I was laning with was getting them, which was all good, I still got the assists and didn't die. It was liek thsi for the longest time. We lost all our t1/t2 towers early on, but we held our defense and we started working together on teamfights. For example, I'd wait for Pudge to hook someone and then bladefury in or wait for dark seer to vacuum them and then i'd come in with the ulti. I got so farmed later on that I was basically wrecking them every teamfight. I had desolator, aghanims, SnY, battlefury, treads, and aquilas ring. I was jsut too strong at that point for Sven and I didn't jump into teamfights right away cuz i waited for death prophet to pop her silence and then I'd run around it, ulti and then blade fury. So nice. We ended up coming back for the win.

Second game, we just completely dominated.

It can get a bit more intense. A few of the guys I group with are really good at dota and when I group with them, the opponents seem more skilled than if I was to solo queue. Wards get placed (offensively and defensively), perfect timing of ults and synchronization of abilities, extreme raging, purchases of items such as dust/smoke, etc. I can hold my own, but these games are where bad decisions by one person can totally be capitlized on by the other team.

I'm getting better, but I've played alot of real matches. Bot games are 1 thing, but live human games are another. Bot games will teach you how to last hit, even normal bots deny like crazy.

 

Those bots have perfect deny and last hit timings >_> Ive given up trying to deny a creep from a bot because then at that point hes already clearing my creeps I so might as well focus on just farming the creeps for gold instead of denying his.

 

I don't remember if I played with Hime before.

 

Maybe if we have enough NBR players who are on, we can do like a 5v5 inny? That'd be pretty fun.

I love me some Lina, Bounty, lifestealer.

I mostly play the mode where you only get a choice of 3 hereos, I find that you'll eventually try them all that way.

P.s Dota > Lol. Its so much more balanced!!

I applied for a DOTA 2 beta invite but I have no idea if the answers I gave to the questions were even reasonable since I never played the original and I only spent a few hours on LOL.

 

When did you send it in? My buddy sent in his survey and he didn't get anything after a few months. Decided to check his spam folder and it was in there with his beta invite that was sent a few months prior.

Random Draft I believe where they give you 1 int hero, 1 agi hero, and 1 str hero to choose from. That's a fun way to play and a good way to try other heros, I just get nervous about playing someone completely new and messing up badly. ha

 

I'd be up for the NBR 5v5 thing. I'm a pretty decent player, played the original dota since 2004, so I have the know-how and the experience to play pretty decently.

 

I'm also down for a 5v5 or 5vPub.

 

I sent it yesterday, so I wasn't expecting to hear back today. I'm just not sure if they're going to throw it out, even though they said there are no wrong answers.

I can't believe you actually said that.
We could have this Dota vs LoL argument, but we don't need to. Both games have their strengths and weaknesses, so it's not right to just judge and say that one game is better than another.

Baka just tried out invoker properly with Hime and Convel. Invoker's too hard

 

I was in a match with an Invoker who knew his stuff and quite frankly...he was literally a force to be reckoned with. He took down the entire team on his own while we just sat there picking our noses...

then again, this was a lowbie tier match but regardless I wanna master invoker so bad after that match haha.

Experienced many times that I lacked mana casting FF for the kill haha. But your skill should rely on frostbite and nova. FF is just icing on the cake.

 

Practice memorizing the skill combos first. :]

Played some CM yesterday with my friends and honestly, she's such a strong support hero. I ended up not leveling into FF until about level 10 or so and even then, I really found no need to use it. First game, I laned with my friend who played Void and we killed our lane. I was able to gain lane equilibrium early on and I was able to get Void real good farm and set him up for kills. After that, it was smooth sailing. I didn't need my ult that game because there wasn't really any time for me to jump in and ult after his chronosphere.

Second game is where I felt the pain of CM being super slow and super squishy. We played against a riki/lanaya/mortred and man that was a pain in the . During team fights, riki would jump and and I was practically dead at that point. There were times when I was able to stay safe and slow and disable them, though. We won early game, lost during the middle, and then late game become a toss up, but Mortred got so farmed that she was just doing too much DPS for us to stay alive.

One thing to mention when gonig against Lanaya, buy some dust. Haha. More than likely when you're fighting a lanaya and she's losing, she'll go into meld. Pop the dust and you'll see her jsut sitting there. hahaha. Good times were had with that.

Invoker requires you to quickly key spam to put down combo after combo. Tornado, Meteor, then bam Cold Snap. Easy 1-2 kills.

CM is pretty much pure support until you build her into a carry. She's REALLY not that hard to play, just don't spam your stuff too early. You should ALWAYS be warding with CM, especially if you see they have a Riki, the smoke is DEADLY to you (insane slow especially paired with Diffusal Blade and silence = GG for CM). Ward ward ward, support heros MUST ward 24/7. I've done a CM with no more than like 30 last hits end game, she doesn't really need last hits.

 

Yeah. CM's nova and frostbite are super strong disables and slows and they're are pretty effective. Anyhow, that riki had all that and he timed it so perfectly that he'd wait until the fight was initiated before jumping on me. Early on I warded up the map and we gained control of him then, but it was later one when he started getting kills that was the problem. I just couldn't get enough gold to get wards as often as I would have liked. But even then, if I was able to get away from riki, mortred would just slow me and then blink to me and 2 shot me.

 

The newbie pool queues aggravate me to no end, literally bot matches are SOOO much more fun in this stage for me than pub matches based on the fact that

a) at least 1-2 people leave in every match, so it becomes one sided.

b) Theres always a feeder or two garunteed, and again becomes one sided.


I feel like I'm gonna be level 1 forever.

 

What. Has the metagame completely changed since I used to play? A year or two ago CM was supposed to be pure support.

 

You'll be amazed at how see those same people outside of the newbie queue.

Yeah, I'm with you. I think CM is meant to be hard support. I just don't think you can aquire enough farm to get her even into a semi-carry stage.

 

She's not mega carry, but you can turn her into one, Heart of Tarrasque, Shadow Blade, Sceptre, Shiva's Guard, Scythe, Boots of Travel.

Baka do Deafening Blast with meteor combo then tornado to EMP follow by cold snap with alacrity. Hime really needs to pay attention when Baka was playing Invoker last time ._.

 

Blargh I don't have the micro skills to play Invoker. I've seen a crazy build, phase boots, arcane boots, tranquil boots, boots of travel, pretty interesting.

 

No treads!? What about the fifth set of feet?

 

What are your guys' thoughts on Bloodseeker? Is he used much in higher end matches or just left in the kiddie pool?

I am very comfortable with him in my matches so far ._. though I feel like he can easily be destroyed in higher up matches.
