What about temperatures? Does your card get hotter with 180.70?

Aw, i was hoping i would be able to overclock with these custom drivers (have not been able to since 169.4). Anyways, i ran a couple of benchmarks on my system and i get worse performance using these drivers when compared to my old 179.13. All the games i tested i achieved 4-5 less average fps , 4-5 lessr maximum fps's, and similar low fps's from previous drivers. Plus, with these drivers my laptop wont sleep at all. The screen just goes black and that's it. I move the mouse and the screen turns back on, no matter how long i wait. I'm switching back.

Okay, so apparently while playing CS:CZ I had a "driver stopped responding and has now recovered" error. And now I can no longer use Aero. :/ Any solutions other than to re-install the driver?

So are we just gonna have to deal with the problem of the laptop not waking up from sleep as a price for having such a great performance driver or will that and other problems eventually be solved in an update and/or official release on LTV2G?

SP2 should fix the sleep problem(at least it was said to fix it in the beta that's out now).

I just installed this driver and will test it out on the few games that I play. I'll post if I run in to problems or stability issues.

Dox, I tried out your driver and like it a lot. It offers a slight performance increase in LOMAC... less hangups (although there are still a few) and more consistent framerate.

I'm wondering though, is there anything that you did to your drivers that would affect multiple displays? I'm using an HDMI TV connection and I can set it up as an extended desktop but as soon as I disable that option, the TV disconnects from the computer and I can't fn+F4 from one screen to another. Do you think something with your driver may be causing this? I was really looking forward to playing LOMAC on a big screen using your driver.

So wait, let me get this straight:

These new 'Dox' drivers everybody's talking about here provide better performance and even better visuals? How is the "better visuals" part even possible?
Does anyone have any screenshots or anything?

I really don't get your screenshot John.

With a 9800m GTX I'm sure you get awesome performance from CoD4, even I do with the 9600m.
And I'm not sure if that screenshot really shows awesome "visuals"...

are you guys serious? look at it closer..it probably looks better than any of your day time shots. this game is not always played in day time light remember. so to show what it looks like in low level light. no jaggies and high frame rate to boot.

edit: ill do day times in a bit. trying to get gta4 to work correctly at the moment.

hey dox, does this driver support overclocking? i had my setting to force performance 3d mode and start when windows starts, i have my overclocking settings at 640 core clock, 1300 shader clock, 560 memory clock, EVGA Precision, Rivatuner 2.20 AND GPU-Z says my clocks are of those above but when i open nvidia control panel and go to system information it shows the old clocks o_O, also im getting around 5200 in 3dmark 06 with my current setup, but before i updated to this driver i got around 5000-5100 in 3dmark 06 (it was also overclocked) oh yea i have an nvidia 9600m gt 512mb gddr2

Someone told me it works with older driver with much worse performance.
I'm up for a challenge to see what I can do.
Could just be a buggy game and we should just chill and wait for a patch.

you can add this to my inf:
    http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=6614
    and see if it helps.

The driver extracts the files to windows's temp folder.
Google around to find out where that is.

Note: you need to click install, then the drivers will extract.
Then leave nvidia's setup running, find the folder then add those lines to the inf. If you exit nvidia's setup the files will delete.

no, I dont know the exact key or configuration of it.
But feel free to add it to the inf.

I dont "officially" allow people to change stuff in the in since I wont support them if they do and they mess up the drivers.

But yeah, you have permission to do it, just dont come for me for support if anything happens.

oh no, nothing like that. i use to and still do from time to time, mod my own inf's. and it's pretty simple just to add the rm key to the nv_softwaredevicesettings key entry

i have intsalled these drivers and while they're incredible on games, i too have suffered the inability to wake up from sleep.

someone mentinoed earlier that this problem will get fixed with sp2..are they refering to vista sp2 (the one thats supposed to be due out next year)? will updating the bios help with sleep or is there an update for the driver that will enable sleep to work

For those with sleep problems (I have them also) I suggest you go into your power options and change the close the lid options to hibernate instead of sleep. This slows your resume time slightly but it seems to work ok with me and is a good compromise.

Thanks for the idea. I'm kind of confused about the sequence of events that you want me to follow. Here's what I think you want me to do.

1: Reinstall your driver via the .exe
2: Before I restart the computer, find the modded INF
3: Add the code from the link to the INF (where should I put the code within the file?)
    4: Restart

Is this correct, or am I missing something? Thank you for your help.

I would like to say I don't have issues with the 'sleep' option.
Put my laptop to sleep for the first time actually last night and everything was fine in the morning.
    I'm using 180.70 drivers.

Great performance, but RivaTuner was reporting my GPU temp maxing out at 90 C while playing Dead Space, a whole 11 degrees higher than my previous max. On the other hand, sleep/hibernate are working but the temperatures still seem excessively high.

Edit: Idling at 63c, roughly 5-7 degrees higher than previously. Anyone know if previous Dox drivers also have Powermizer that downclock all the way to 2D settings?

Dox, I can't find the inf file that the installer extracts. I attached a picture of my temp folder during installation after the installer extracts its files... I tried opening each of them with notepad to see if they were an INF file but I got unreadable code from each one... Am I doing something wrong?
