I'm getting an earth-shattering 33kbps.Guess I'll be on in the morning. (Damn AT&T "Elite")
-
I certainly wasn't expecting the download to be as big as it was, when I came home I figured it would be a gig at most and that I would whip it up in 30 minutes or so and get playing...not that it would be TWICE that size and take 5 hours to download.
-
installing now... chyea!
-
here you go guys....fast download.
http://www.gamershell.com/download_50494.shtml
the mirrors on that blog link are all awful. -
I usually always use gamershell for patches updates - they have good servers.
-
Any of them up on torrents?
-
71% done... 71% and my computer crashed during WoW. Starting all over...
Only BF2 gets this kind of devotion. -
Ah...I am FINALLY installing
-
I didn't even think about GH. I'm getting around 120kps finally... but I'm just now at 100mb.
-
From those of you lucky enough to have downloaded it already, how is the gameplay? And are the old booster pack maps available from the main game now?
-
Go to fileshack.com and use the public server (no need to register), wait for your download ticket, I got mine downloaded at around 200kbps all the way.
- Wide screen resolutions now available, but the user interface and hud still look stretched.
- No need to pop-in cd/dvd anymore.
- All the booster pack maps are in the game now, no need to launch separate game launcher like before.
- No need to apply compatibility mode, as the game now supports Vista, works well on 7 too.
- Game seems to run bit smoother than before, probably because BF2.exe now can use more than 2GB of RAM, plus the Vista support.
- Hit detection seems to be better, but it's still no COD level -
Yeah the ol boost maps are in the bf2.exe now.Something called falcon is in teh menu not sure what that is.Hud is the same.Hits are way more accurate.Less crashes, no actually none.Overall its great.I brought the bf2 collection for 20bux so im not mad about the free packs its good cause not there will be more people online.

I DL'ed overnight and installed it this morning, only got about 10-min of gameplay, all of my impressions of the new patch were quite positive. Operation Blue Pearl is a very cool map and overall the new improvements are noticeable.
I LOVE all the people who still try to dolphin dive, it's so easy to rape them now while standing. I guess for some it's an instinctive move but now totally futile thanks to patch 1.5. -
Wow, lots of great fixes, really did a lot for the whole "bunny hopping" thing, I keep killing idiots that still do it and it makes me SO happy.
-
FINALLY!!!!!
I was just about to start a thread complaining about how the +szx 1366 +szy 768 didn't make my BF2 run on my laptops native resolution.
We should start a NBR clan in BF2!
Any news on a similar update for 2142? -
Yeah I already put (NBR) as the clan tag for my BF2 name
is anyone up for a few rounds tonight after work?
-
I have an [NBR] tag in my name from a while ago: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=158767 and http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=166265
I haven't downloaded the new update though.. I probably won't have time to play it for two weeks or so. -
Check out the "Game Night" thread on the first page!
-
Really impressed with the new patch. Played last night till about 3am, till I was booted for "high ping". (Seriously... damn this "Elite" internet) So far so good, will catch some more rounds tonight. I did play Operation Smoke Screen and Blue Pearl... both great!
-
Hey check out the gaming night thread, I'm trying to get some people together to play tonight, join us!

if ya want to check your stats go to BF2S. Great site and it lists how to get all the badges / awards, how many points to next round and all that jazz.
GOD $#%*I#$(*#$&%# IT!!!!!!
I got to 90% of downloading the patch and my internets cut out....resulting in the download *%&($)& up so now I have to start the thing ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
/
I love torrents...1.0MB/s
5% in under a minute
not as mad anymore.....
-
is BF2 on steam?
-
No, but you can purchase a digital version from the EA store.
-
I dont think so....I am using a P2P Client. I will not post the name/link to the client or torrent to keep the admins off of my back....too many run ins in the past 2 months
.
13.5% as of now
-
What if I own it already - can I transfer it to a digital version like you can with Starcraft on Battlenet?
Thanks. -
If you have the Original Disk you could always make an image using ImgBurn or Alcohol120%.....and use DaemonTools to Emulate the disk for future use, and faster installs.
This is perfectly legal as long as you have a legit key that you purchased and if you do not redistribute!
It is what I have been doing since like 2006 or 2007....
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I'm done downloading the patch....in 40 min and 12 seconds
!!!
-
Yeah I did the same thing, and I'm so happy because my disc 2 of the 3 disc set went bad. Yay digital copy!
-
here's a direct link to join the NBR gaming night group on XFire for those of you who are interested.
http://www.xfire.com/communities/notebookreview/
I'll be playing some BF2 so see you all on the battlefield! -
Cool, I sent a ding to the NBR group.
-
Same here.
-
This is actually really fun, only thing that bugs is something I wouldn't have even noticed unless a friend pointed it out. Tanks getting stuck in bamboo, in 1943 you can just mow through it.
-
Yeah, those things are frustrating. And the fact that the tank usually can't go up more than a 10degree grade is frustrating too. But if you just deal with the limitations you'll do fine. At least the limitations are consistent.
-
As I said, I wouldn't have even noticed if a friend didn't point it out.
-
seems same-old same-old to me:
fixed hitboxes: fly-by-wires still go right through targets. They improved it slightly with anti tank, but TV-cams are just as flaky.
sniper-rifle still misses the target 60% of the time for no apparent reason (I secretly think they've done it purposely to avoid the snipe-fest).
anti-tank rockets still lack proper splash damage (ok I concede this may be for balance reasons, but still!)
Hit regs. for the knife is improved (back in the day a knife battle was more like playing roulette)
expansion packs do work (though I don't really care for the handling on the EU chopper)
proning to avoid claymores works, which is awesome
suffice to say the patch is a mild improvement at best, but more than I expected from EA. -
How's the mouse acceleration? Is it still there?
-
Keep lag in mind: what might look like a headshot on your screen might actually be completely off! Same occurs with the TV guided missiles from jets/helos....
I agree, the AT rockets should cause a bit more splash damage. I try going for direct hits with them though... "sniping" with the AT rocket is actually quite fun!
How do you like the new map? -
Blue pearl is a nice map, but you can tell that it favors the chinese more than the us side. But only a good team can get to the chinese flags. There are alot of people using rockets on that map.
-
For the TV cam and laterally-moving targets I think that might be it. But when I tried my hand at sniping, I zinged off a headshot on a running (laterally) target, but couldn't manage to do it consistently against even stationary targets - I think it's fairly random or intentional design.
Yep, think I'll stick to the old ways of rocket-meets-face
haha yeah, nightmear, I was thinking the same... after AT-ing 20 boats straight, I began to feel pity and started firing off warning shots. -
Just booted it up and played a few minutes.... Man it feels like old times and this time it is better optimized. I got back into the groove in no time, lol. I wish it came out during the summer because now im really busy with school. O and after so many years have past by the graphic don't look as good as I remember....
-
I actually think the graphics maxed aren't too bad. No Crysis, but I think for the style of game, it's still very comparable.
-
Hahaha, I agree. After playing it for a few days i've raped sooooooooo many people who've dolphin dived on me. I just walk around them while shooting and they die so fast, hahaha. I dont even have to prone.
-
Sad thing is these people probably don't even know that the dolphin diving glitch has been patched! LOL. Will probably call you a cheater for a while. Can't wait to play!
-
I am running the 1.5 patch bf2 but the 1366x768 resolution (my laptops native) does not seem like it is native but it is stretched (the mini map is stretched like an oval on the screen).
Same problem on my PC with 1920x1080, oh and I am running everything on ultra high (Video.con file mod) and 8 x AA on both laptop and pc.
Using the stock settings with the native resolution does nothing...
please help meeeee!!!!
oh and is there any way to disable "Falcon". -
anyone playing bf2 project reality yet??
-
I'm interested in that mod too...
-
Played that when it first came out, but not since then.
