I did fix for framerate drops and I started the game up and it detected my card settings again, but it got my card wrong and I still get random framerate drops. Any ideas? Thanks.

For those people with problems have you tried the latest Catalyst drivers (10.10)? I didn't see anything about NV in the release notes but perhaps they solve [some of] the issues.

Just wanted to add that after doing the d3d9.dll fix my fps went from the usual 60 to 20 (aka constant drops) to a smooth 50-60. Vsync enabled of course.
-
What on earth did they do to the hunting rifle? I never picked one up do to how crappy it was in FO3.( Picked them up just to repair Lincolns Repeater) Now I use it as my normal gun and is worth 2,000+ caps in perfect condition. One shot kills all the time.
-
that's disturbing
-
The d3d9.dll fix just causes the game to crash for me and it's definitely in the right place. The fps is so choppy for me in low/med/high settings with or without the water settings enabled and antialiasing etc that the game is almost unplayable for me. Hope they fix this soon...
Edit: Apparently it's XFire that messes with the game:
http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1127077-xfire-crashes-fallout/
If anyone else has the same issue with d3d9.dll try closing XFire. -
Can't seem to solve this. Running Fallout NV on a desktop and the game runs fine all except the audio. I shoot, run, talk and no sounds come. Eventually the sound catches up and the game freezes for 3 seconds and I hear all the sounds that should have been there before. Yet, if i shoot and talk and run and such and hit ESC or go to the Pip-Boy the sound automatically plays. Any ideas? It's freaken weird.

Anyone having insane VATS lag as well? Mine is pretty bad. Hope they fix it soon.
-
-
-
it did so in fallout 3 to it was related to a threading issue but if i'm right we can't edit the ini in new vegas i read it somewhere
-
Of course you can, just untick the read-only box in properties
-
lol iguess i'll tell that back where i read it
haven't got the game yet i still wanna know if a steam freeing patch woudl break something in game befor i buy it -
This game was unplayable for me (5 fps) until i used the .dll fix and it runs smooth as butter now on high settings, 2x AA 8x AF.
-
Turning radial blur on low helped my vats lag a lot. There is still some definite lag but bearable. This game is lucky its awesome lol.
-
Not sure if I did something wrong but the game was considerably harder than fallout 3 (just finished NV).
Tried to do the same thing I did with Fallout 3, which was, finish the main quest, then load the last save and go discover all places/do all side quests.
With Fallout NV this wasn't possible at some point. I came across things that took 200+ bullets in order to actually die
Spoiler contains hints about the ending, avoid it if you didnt finish the game yet!
In the end I went berserker and probably did a few mistakes which probably caused me to loose a few chain quests, like clearing the whole shop to save Cass cause the guy wanted to kill her and I felt sorry for her. Got some decent weapons which actually helped kill things a lot faster. But in the end it was pretty much impossible to kill the "leaders" of NCR and the Legion's so I had to chat my way to the ending lolLast edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
I've managed to upset just about every gang ive came across so far (2 hours in game so far) NCR want me dead, the powder gangers want me dead and so do caesers legion.
I am officially the friendliest man in new vegas lol -
I've got the NCR on my good side for this run through. I'm debating if working for the legion would be to evil. The fact that half of the legion troops cant pronounce their leader's name correctly makes me a little worried if/when they came to power.
-
-
Lol streather, good luck getting through some main quests with everybody hating you. It's no fun. I have the legion hating me and it was a little difficult in parts.
Edit: Oh, and also, Every single time I buy something from the caravan and the mojave outpost, my game crashes to desktop. Little annoying. Just need to stop trying to buy from them lol. -
By the looks of it the main story is as long as Fallout 3 but NV seems to have A LOT more side quests

Even if it was called Fallout something else, you would still know it's vegas because... WALK WALK WALK.. If this game had a theme song it would be "THE PROCLAIMERS.. I WOULD WALK 500 MILES.. AND I WOULD WALK 500 MORE.."
Enough with the walking already... jeesh..

Actually, nevermind. Just kill a few of guys from each faction right? -

I wanted to ask... <spoiler alert> if you buy a room, if you drop your goods do they stay forever or do they dissappear? <end spoiler>
Thanks, StevenX -

Oh and yes, lots of walking here too. My team "Boone squad" (Boone, me and the little robot) are a just steamrolling through the mojave desert.

Just finished the game in 19 hours. A few of those hours were just mindlessly wandering around and doing some of the rather pointless side quests. I never really enjoyed it too much as I didn't know who was what and what was where.(If that makes sense) However, when I played Fallout 3 for the second time, I was hooked. It is so much easier and fun knowing where to go and who to be buddies with. Needless to say; I'm going to get shot in the head, thrown into a grave, and do it all again.
-
I've played for 30 and I'm not even close to being finished. But then again I've also been roaming the wasteland for a while, looking for uniques and trying out some mods.
And ya, when i played fo3 for the second time it was more engaging so that'll probably be the case with new vegas since all the factions and stuff are kinda overwhelming. -
anyone get to vault 11 yet?
pretty sweeet. -
-
AboutThreeFitty, how about now hard mode?
I am playing now with a guy working good and being friends with everyone. My next character will be an (evil) woman, just blasting her way through everything. -
Seven hours into the game and so far I'm having a blast (sometimes literally
). I must say as expected the constant influx of mods from the modding community has already added quite a bit to my enjoyment of this game, especially the increased run speed mod (for those who aren't aware of it yet, there's a growing database of mods over at http://newvegasnexus.com/.
Alas, another couple exams this week and I shall have more time to dive into this wonderful game world. Also, so far the only CTDs I've had have been mod related. Game runs beautifully on my GX640. -
Fun fact I just learned. Did you guys know the strategy guide written for Fallout New Vegas is the longest strategy guide written in history?
And it actually has more words than the book "War and Peace" which is the longest ever written novel.
Pretty interesting. -

Tank, where did you find that out? That is interesting. Thanks!

and caeser's legion disliked me because i tried to let a couple of their prisoners go so they tried to kill me resulting in me slaughtering everyone in their camp
That erm, didn't go down too well lol.
Back to roughly the same place and so far only the powder gangers want me dead -

I'm in New Vegas now, but so far only the Powder Gangers want me dead. I'm on pretty good terms with the NCR, they even gave me an emergency radio to call for backup when I need it. Pretty nifty. -
Greatest moment so far, Got to witness the dangers of playing with high explosives in enclosed spaces, was clearing out the hotel in primm, one of the convicts in there tried to chuck a stick of dynamite at me, hit the wall and bounced back and landed at the gang leaders feet
took 2 people out with it -

I have much more fun with this Fallout edition than previous one. But the only downside for me are major performance problems on high end system. Game doesn't offer good balance betwen graphics settings and good FPS at intensive battle/fight. And also to many side quest's that are stuped in most cases. Game just want's you to get off the main story all the time...
-
I love it. 25 hours and no crashes or bugs.
Very fun.
It looks like I will have to play it through a few more times to get all the story variations. -

does anyone know how to get the Nellis flight simulator?
-
No idea.
I just passed the game. Even though the ending was really good, I'm kind of disappointed with story, compared to Fallout 3 (there's nothing comparable to that creepy black/white lane on a simulator).
It's still a good game, I just didn't feel as involved into all that. The main story (sort of) ends half way into the game and then you start doing other quests. I also never found a way to train Power Armor. Robot companion is a bit disappointing too - I just got him to say something twice total... And honestly, WAY too much walking. They should put some mount.
And last but not least, save game. It just kicks you into the main menu after the game is over. I guess the developed DON'T want you to continue playing and exploring (?!) -

You know there's always ways to continue playing? A simple mod to continue playing after the end isn't cheating or doing anything wrong at all
