    Ok guys,

Here is my config file found in C:users/xxxx../my documents/my games/far cry 3/
    Look for the gamerprofile.xml
Save the file in case you want to go back to it.
Now copy the text in the file in link below and paste it into the gamerprofile.xml making sure you have removed all of the old details by highlighting the text and deleting. Hit save in notepad.
Now make sure you have installed catalyst 12.11 beta 11 and if you have old just uninstall via control panel and then use driver sweeper to remove any remaining files and there usually are. Then reboot and install the new beta 11 drivers.

Enjoy your smooth non-stuttering Far Cry 3. I have 6990m and 1920x1080 and it runs very nice always above 35 fps hitting 70 in some places. Has given my 6990m new life expectancy now with a big boost. :)

    That's weird..
Perhaps Nvidia drivers are the issue then?

i don't think so..i tried the game with 3 different drivers till now with no difference in performance. maybe its a problem only with nvidia cards?

I found the stutter was horrible. When I first played it i thought hmm the fps are good but the stutter is still there what gives? I couldn't work it out but one thing was certain you can't shoot properly, drive either and the engine doesn't work smoothly making it very challenging.
After what I did above the stutter is gone and game-play is real smooth now and driving, shooting and watching the sky change color are all amazing making this game for me probably GOTY. It now plays better than crysis1 and all other far cry/crysis games I have played before. Hang in there read on steam forums and see if you can find a solution. :)

Adjust the render ahead limit in game to 2 fps or 1fps if already on 2.
Lot of Nvidia users had success with changing that and seeing what value works best for you.

Ubisoft is just all kinds of fail for me here. It took them 4.5 days (that's right, days) to acknowledge my order by sending me an email and/or having an order show up on their site. Here we are 11hrs after launch, still no Download link on the "Order Details Page" nor another email with a code or d/l link. Could you imagine if I actually paid for this, it's the Never Settle Promo, should be treated as if someone paid for it.

EDIT: Nor does the game show up in the useless Uplay launcher.

I copied your setup, and I've noticed the game runs smoother now. Framerates are the same, but there isn't any more microstuttering or brief drops in fps. Thanks man. I would rep you if I could!

Until yesterday I had no stuttering issues at all. Ran 1080p with settings at max and the 920xm running at 23x @ 3ghz. 7970M at stock clocks.

When I went to play it yesterday the game installed an update and since then whenever there is a firefight or interaction with other characters the GPU throttles down to 450mhz which is often. I thought maybe it is CPU power problem so I throttled it back but even stock 15x @ 2ghz and the GPU behaves the same.

What is ubisoft playing at. Why do they update the game to make it unplayable! This is obviously a game issue caused by this patch as nothing I tried helped including updating to latest 12.11 beta 11.

    Great game but rubbish developers!

I encountered micro stuttering with Far Cry 3 even though frame rates were high and stable. I turned GPU frame buffering on and set it to 3 and the stuttering disappeared.

Really hated the tutorial, but now that it's finally finished and I can to go anywhere on the map, completely ignoring the main quest, I'm starting to love this game.

I think this was one of the worst tutorials I've ever played because I had to keep repeating the checkpoints and watching the same long, unskippable cutscenes over and over, but the rest of the game is brilliant, especially now that I figured out how to get rid of that ugly giant mini-map HUD.

Runs great with the following settings at 1920x1080, using Catalyst 12.8

    No post process
No Foilage AA (I think it's called AlphaToCoverage in the settings menu)
    No MSAA
HDAO instead of SSAO (the SSAO looked really bad, HDAO makes the foilage look so much better)
    Shadow Detail High
    DX11 mode
    All other settings maxed

At first I tried with post process and the foilageAA active and the game was really laggy, even without MSAA. Turning those two features off made a huge difference in frame rate. Also, I believe I get better frame rate with DX11 executable compared to the DX9/10 executable. HDAO did not seem to reduce frame rate significantly compared to SSAO, but it looks much better.

    GamerProfile.xml settings

How to remove minimap, but enable HUD partially

(minimap and HUD information pops back up when you choose, if you hold down your primary or secondary weapon button. This is more helpful than no HUD at all, because otherwise you can't see what items you just found.)

    1. Locate and backup \bin\FC3_d3d11.dll, then open the original file with HEX editor.

    2. Search for "showuielement". In the next few lines you will see

    HideUIElement...ShowUIElement...S.h.o.w.U.I.E.l.e.m.e.n.t...S.h.o.w.U.I.E.l.e.m.e.n.t

    3. Replace this with the following

    HideUIElement...ShowUIElement...S.h.o.w.U.I.E.l.e.m.e.n.t...H.i.d.e.U.I.E.l.e.m.e.n.t

(only change the second "S.h.o.w.U.I.E.l.e.m.e.n.t," not the first one)

Ok played a bit and verified what I was expecting. This game is Far Cry 1, with dramatic voice acting and some more foliage. But the foliage appearance and the water and florescent coloring looks just like Far Cry 1 to me.

Ok reached the boat level(piece of the past), worked my way through it and finished only to find it won't load the next level and crashes...just a white page and loading and nothing
Tried it again and voila the level cannot load and it crashed again.

Pitty, cause it was such a great game.

lol why do you sound so hostile? What morons are you referring to?

As for the graphics, you'd have to be close to blind to think it looks like Far Cry 1. How does this Farcry1.jpg look like this farcry3.jpg

I just picked a couple of random pictures off google search, but if you look through them all then it's obvious that FC3 is much, much, much better looking than FC1. BTW, the second pic is blurry because the player is tripping balls on some poison drink lol.

It's impressive from a technical perspective, though it suffers from some occasional bland textures in the environment. With a high-res texture pack it will be the best looking game released in 2012 imo. The most impressive part is the art direction, however. It doesn't try for a photo-realistic aesthetic, rather it's slightly exaggerated, with vibrant colors and an almost painted or animated appearance. It's a really pretty game.

As for the reviews, you don't know what kind of system the reviewer was running it on. It could be that they didn't experience any issues whatsoever, or if they did, they thought they were minor enough that they didn't detract from the overall package enough to overshadow the positive aspects of the game. Regardless, most of the reviews weren't perfect scores, and they're just one person's opinion anyway. It's not done by some scientific process where every technical issue or minor fault is included in the score.

Sorry, just have to add more lol.

I haven't played FC1 before, but to my heathen eyes the game looks fantastic after you get rid of the HUD.

Here is what this game looks like with the biggest HUD i've ever seen: http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/903233346061718987/83FDD6B172011D529AC9BBBC48CF49608FE671BA/

Here are some screens after disabling the the HUD:

the best part is these screenies were taken with no MSAA, no Foilage AA and no Post Processing and it runs great at 1080p on my envy with a relatively weak 5830m

And wow those screens look really freaking good lol, for no aa there are very few jaggies. I'm tempted to lower my settings so I can get a constant 60fps :D

    Ok guys,

I can highly highly recommend everyone to play it in Dx9.
Not only does it look better, it runs smoother and plays better.

I somehow think this game was originally designed on dx9 and later on upgraded to dx11. I have had crashes in Dx11 whilst Dx9 none so far.
One thing to note when comparing between Dx9 and 11 look at Jason's arms during the swimming, gliding, etc. On Dx9 the arms look real, whilst on Dx11 it's blurred...that definitely caught my eye and the greens are more luscious with dx9 although shadows, lighting would be better with Dx11 but until amd/nvidia fix their drivers I think it maybe best to run in dx9. The cave scene with Dx9 was truly amazing.

When I increased fov to max I got nausea....
Reminded me of half life days..lol

In reference to the arguments about the game not being technologically advanced I would have to disagree. I had hwinfo running in background and temps on gpu reached 86C and 65C on cpu. That's very taxing..and image quality I think it's pushing the gpu to the max esp with dx11. I find in dx9 it runs beautifully reaches 90 fps and looks stunning. Wish I could post some images of the caves..past that level now.

Something that has bothered me tho, is why new games don't have profiles anymore? Like if a friend comes over and wants to play the autosave will remove my current autosave making it silly. Old games you could save new profile and resume under that profile. Is it really that hard to create separate profiles in new games?

honestly...i am getting sick of PC games in the recent times. remember back in the day, when we used to just buy the game, install it and play it.

these days, half of my gaming time is wasted on fiddling around with the settings and config files. i just want to play the damn game for god-sake!

why cant devs bring the ease and comfort of console gaming to PC and spare us this grief?

I regret buying a 2500$ laptop now! Dammit Ubisoft..you made me hate PC gaming!

....Sorry for the long rant...I am just frustrated.

Tbf there's a lot of sacrifice that comes with plug and play gaming like the 360. One of them being awful textures, the other being 720p and the final one being 30fps.

    ;)

I'm not sure if it has already been posted, but what are the best drivers for fc3? I'm on 306 right now and the 310 say its a huge boost, but some people have been reporting it makes frame rates worse.

And what should the GPU frame thing be set to? Some say 0, some say 1, its a lot of mixed answers haha.

Forget profiles, Far Cry 3 doesn't even have proper save game slots from what I can tell.

It seems that it has only 3 slots, which is ridiculous, but what's worse is that the game only ever permits you to use slot 3, and there is no way to use slots 1 or 2.

I did a mission were I sneak killed a guy under a water fall, causing the game to bug and making it seem as if the water fall was following me.

    Constantly pouring on my head!!

yes, it's a glitch that every 7970m owner is experiencing (as far as I know.)

I can't figure out how to make them go away. Some people say running in DX9 fixes them, but that doesn't work for me. I'm hoping for either a patch or a new beta driver fix. It's getting annoying. I pretty much avoid the towns entirely, since that's where they always show up.

i think i found the issue... at least for nvidia cards..i don't see any stuttering when the game runs at 60fps or the refresh rate of you monitor... unfortunately it is not possible to run this game at 60 all the time.

there is a option in nvidia inspector to set the vsync to 1/2 the refresh rate, but that doesn't work in the game.it just runs without vsync.

i tried locking the frames to 45 with vsync ON...stuttering is still there. without the fps limit stuttering is almost gone when it runs at 60. When it falls below 60, stuttering comes back again...what a lame game engine!

Also, FXAA works through inspector, MSAA doesn't...What gives?

i guess i have to run the game at lowest settings..lame!

this game definitely has some problems...i watched almost 10 different Xbox game-play videos...guess what..it has horrible screen tearing and stuttering too. PS3 videos on the other hand look good...performance is a lot better. On PC, based on all the posts in forums i read, i can say on AMD is faring better compared to Nvidia...

    All i can say is....."UBISOFT....FIX YOUR S**T"
