I'm sure it's going to be fun. Hard to believe it will be a complete failure just from a few videos. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to stop myself from buying it as soon as it's out... unless the very first real reviews are going to be really bad.

yeah it looks awful based on what we know but far cry is alright and sells alot of copies..i doubt it will flop....too much talent and time and money invested in it...but yeah judging from the videos it looks retarded

I wont lie.....I probably will buy this even though some of it looks dumb......the farcry series has never let me down but thats not to say a few games have not been able to hold my interest long enough for the dive into the ocean world of far cry 5/4

same here... proper AAA releases seem to be getting more rare and most likely I won't be able to stop myself from buying this.

Until the first real reviews come out for Far Cry 6, I fired up Far Cry 3 and I'm really hoping I can get through it. I think I started it 3 times since it came out, played until some random point and just got distracted. I really want to nail Vaas this time though :)

Tried to distract myself with Diablo 2 but to be completely honest, while it looks nice, it doesn't seem to draw me in like back in the "good" days. I've probably outgrown it.

Maan, Far Cry 3 is absolutely amazing considering it came out almost 10 years ago. I have no idea what possessed me to not play it all the way until now.

There are so many cool little details the devs put in, I'm having a blast finding these.

Here's one example. This may be well known but it's very much new to me as I hadn't noticed it before. At night, they actually put in a proper star model. Looks at the screenshot where I marked the Pleiades and Orions Belt... the next screenshot is from a stelarium site with actual positions. They seem to match pretty well.

Oh I remember her. At the time this came out, there weren't too many games with as pretty b00bs as she has, lol.

I haven't reached that far yet on this playthrough. I'm taking a different approach, I've only done the first few missions, until I got to the Dr then I started doing my own missions to climb as many towers as possible. Also hunting to upgrade most of the critical gear. I'm trying to get sort of an early OP feeling and then go through some more main missions.

A bit worried though that Far Cry 6 is coming in a couple days and if I start playing that, I'll abandon FC3 yet again. I'll try to stop myself, FC3 really is worth playing through it all...

I just realized FC6 does not show up on Steam. I'm really not a fan of spreading my games over multiple platforms, especially from the same franchise. It really is stupid to have FC 4-5 on Steam and 6 somewhere else...

Yeah they apparently had a falling out sometime after FC5, I am no fan of Steam but I prefer also to not be spread all over too much. That said, I chose to buy on uplay since epic is my least preferred.

Does FC6 have a ton of micro management like previous entries in the series? I like the design, but if I have to keep track of fetch quests and stuff like crafting, I'm going to pass.

I don't know specifically but I think the quest & crafting designs will be similar to past games.

Crafting was one of my favorite parts of the games, I love the way your upgrades are earned and literally crafted. Rather than going into a cave and finding a treasure box with a new backpack or wallet in it, you have to kill the animal to make the leather or whatever. Just wish there was double the # of upgrades to each item.

To me one of the worst things I've heard about for this one is the bullet type management like that was in FC:ND, I didn't care for it but I suppose I will have to get used to it again here.

Cpu bottlenecked game as usual on 1080p. Their engine just doesn't scale well past 100hz.

Shame DXR global illumination wasn't used, this game could have looked awesome with it.

It's been really good so far. I haven't had many goofy moments yet and the story and theme overall feels a little more serious than previously. Performance on my desktop with a 10GB 3080 is good, I'll try my laptop 3080 tomorrow night. I can't wait to try out coop when my buddy gets online. Horseback feels good to me, can't believe it took them this long to put horses in game.

That wasn’t going to happen given that FC6 is an AMD sponsored game, and we know how their ray tracing performance currently works.

It was officially released 12:01 AM overnight last night, so depending on what time zone you are in it was playable sometime over the last day. I was *ahem* in the UK last night so I was able to play a little earlier than if I was at home.

ugh... I can't find any good Far Cry 6 hardware bundle offers in the US.

Samsung is giving away FC6 with SSD purchases but only in the UK and Australia. Sad because I was actually looking for an excuse to get more disk space.

I guess I can wait, maybe something pops up...

I did not look at that exact article but from my research that only applies at 4k, not sure why they don't say that it requires 11GB @ 4k and say 8GB @2.5k and 6GB @2k etc. It plays fine on my 10GB 3080 but I only use 2k & 2.5k in games because I prefer a higher framerate to higher resolution.

I didn't like the chicken "funny" trailers either, but I have not seen that yet in my playthrough and I plan to just do that quest and then ignore that follower if I can. The game seems so much more serious tone (so far) and I like it.

This is true. It also depends on what resolution you play at.

Since the vast majority of people still game at 1080p, this requirement does not apply. They don't need more than 6 GB of VRAM for the most part at the moment. They may need up to 8 GB, but I highly doubt anyone will need more than that at 1080p for quite a while.

At 4K? Yeah 16 GB of VRAM is definitely necessary, so you're right if talking about 4K.

    yeah I referenced 4k

Here are the key Xbox Series S specs you need to know:
    • CPU: Eight-core 3.6GHz (3.4GHz with SMT) custom AMD 7nm.
    • GPU: 4 teraflops at 1.550GHz.
    • RAM: 10GB GDDR6.
    • Framerate: Up to 120 fps.
    • Resolution: 1440p with 4K upscaling.
    • Optical: No disk drive.
    • Storage: 512GB NVMe SSD.
6gb for 1080p? ima call it out again....no way in heck is 6gb for 1080p future proof

the series s is the lowest common denominator moving forward and its target is 1440p but so far its usually 1080p for s and 4k for x...if it uses 10gb vram in a game there is no way devs will lower that requirement for the mass majority of games......i see 10gb the bare minimum and I would like to add..I have a very cheap setup and thats common it barely does 1080p/60 in modern titles.....i will need to upgrade fast as the next gen is fast approaching and 16gb and 4k should be everyones target...

its happening the exact same way as 720p

4k wont be the standard anytime soon. Hell even QHD+ is still not the standard no matter what happens with new gen consoles. Besides Next gen are usually no better than 2 year old PCs and they wont be ditching PS4/XBOX One supported platforms anytime soon. So 1080p gaming will be good for a long while.

its coming in fast....once hardware can handle 4k it will be....every console gen we have this discussion on nbr...its always wrong because consoles are optimized to the 9 with tweaks.....games eventually become the best they can be with said hardware.....if 4k aint here then why would i not just go out and buy a series x and run 4k60 on every game that matters....its here dude....if you posted that 2-3 years ago id agree but the series x power is no secret

Not to derail the vram - 4k discussions, I just wanted to post an update on my own little quest which was stopping me from starting FC6.

I finally finished FC3 and to be completely honest I'm disappointed. Some folks actually said FC3 was the best of all. I have no idea what colored plants they were smoking but FC4 and 5 are miles better. Both gameplay and story-wise.

The main story missions were dumb at best. I get that it's a 2012 game but still, I was expecting more. Very repetitive quests and predictable twists. The main boss "fights" were even more stupid. Build that whole rage and revenge lust up and then do a quick time event? WTF
Actually the whole plot idea was very poorly written. You, a total noob are dumped on an island and after skinning 3 dogs you become the chosen one - the rakyat warrior... pfft. At least they could've force slowed the progress down a bit, make some incentives to free camps and work your way up. The only side quests I did were the towers and only because they were easy and I wanted the weapon from the last one.

Speaking of weapons, equally unimpressive. The suppressed ones actually sound and feel like pea-shooters.

Not sure what's next, I don't think I'll jump on FC6 just yet. I may revisit FC5 first. I miss that one.

Same, personally I think that their views were clouded by the lenses of nostalgia. Or maybe they were lamenting the lack of improvement going from far cry 3 to far cry 4 & 5 compared to the improvement going from far cry 2 to far cry 3. The improvement from 2 to 3 was revolutionary for sure, and 4 and 5 just improved on and refined the gameplay but there wasn't anything revolutionary. Its like how people say far cry games are stale because the games do feel very similar gameplay wise.

feels directed to me and thats good...because I was praising farcry 3..

yes its just the jump from farcry 2 to 3 was huge...from boring to fun..I found the story in farcry 3 great so far honestly..im just at the part after having fun with citra.....i have difficulties motivating myself to play it further or any game for that matter iv'e been playing racing games like horizon 4 and dirt 5 as you just cruise around without thinking too much....relaxing in these stressful days

Not at all, I just remembered reading random accounts of ppl saying FC3 is better then the others... I wasn't thinking about you specifically

I was praising it myself too, there are loads of cool things about it, here I only pointed out the major downsides I noticed.

You can install mods like Ziggy's mod to make crafting and gameplay elements more realistic and difficult. It'll make use of crocs and other rare animals to craft certain items. It also remove the limitations of weapon mods with certain guns like the AK-47. FC4 and FC5 was focused on quantity and not quality, i liked the gameplay changes in FC4 making the world more lively than FC3 but they added too many annoying things and got too repetitive and FC5 was a downgrade all together so i never finished it.

I might buy FC6 during a sale, There no way i am buying it at full price.

I'm not sure I'll be able to stop myself for that long. To be honest I'm more irritated that it's not on Steam... I probably would've picked it up already.

Gameplay wise FC4 is the best between FC3, 4 and 5. It's just if one has played FC3, FC4 doesn't bring too much to the table (except for those f... annoying eagles!), however FC4 gameplay is more refined. If one hasn't played FC3 before, FC4 is a way to go. Otherwise FC4 wasn't that interesting.
Storywise wise FC 3 is the best between FC3, 4 and 5. Vaas (even if criminally underused) is still ahead of FC4 baddy and whatever the hell that was in FC5. And there was an actual character arc in FC3! I don't even remember what random nonames I have played for in FC4 and 5...

FC5 on the other had... Well, it's a game, I will give it that. But it is worse that 3 and 4. 3 had a character development and 4 had improved gameplay elements. 5 took gameplay elements from 4 and forgot about the rest...
