GRID demo anyone?

I try your settings eleron and i was still crashing like hell. Well, maybe it's just this game is not for me.

 

I really like it too. Only annoying part is when your playing online with damage on, your in lap 6/7 and then someone takes out your car. Its too easy to just total other peoples cars online

 

Whats the docs issue??
Through the installation I only notice it ask for the default installation folder, and I installed it into my G partition.....

 

With HDR off this game looks much better...

To disable HDR, just go to My Documents\Codemasters\GRID Demo\hardwaresettings

Then open hardware_settings_config.xml with the WordPad and change this from "true" to "false", like this:

I've no idea what that ridiculous eye-straining blur was all about anyway, maybe it smoothed out some jaggies if you were only able to play on 640 x 480 ??

At native res though (1440 x 900), it looks much better on my G1S.

 

Without the blur it looks much better on my G1S as well.

 

Sod this, Im getting an XBox 360 instead! lol
I prefer being able to just put a game in and run it exactly how it was intended to run, rather then mess about with settings to try and tweak performance!

 

damn how the hell do u guys drift on this game?!!!.. its so bloody hard to control the car. the max i got on drift is 300000 after three laps..

Did you edit the restrictions file to run in native res ?

 

No motion blur? It looks amazing with the motion blur. Its what gives you the sense of speed and it smooths out the percieved framerate. I never turn it off.

 

I'm with you on that one ! - It's 360 for me all the way. I only bother getting PC games for when I'm away from home.

 

man.. people are gonna remove the blur just like in DIRT, people the BLur is whats making it look like next gen

 

Don`t turn the blur off! I think that effect is what give such a awesome sense of speed! Man the drifting is so much better than need for speed. I don`t think i will ever touch any need for speed game once the full game comes out!

Also i was digging around the codemaster forum and noticed this! They got a neat little program that will swap tracks so you can use different cars on them!

I personally don't like blur . For 2 reason.
Im fps picky and also with it off you see more clear giving you a better advantage.

 

Blur is what smooths our framerates though. Blur makes the drops and spikes of fps less perceivable.

 

I keep the Blur on for the same reasons as The Forerunner.
I think I really like this game, too bad there are only a few maps for the moment (demo I mean).

I told you guys! USE THE BRAKE ... and if you do go off track , ONLY ACCELERATE, don`t steer right or left. EVER.

Wow so there have been 2 instances whenever I exit the game, my computer blue screens to death and it says "Dumping Physical Memory" as the counter goes from 0 to 100 then my lappy auto reboots.

I have 2.5GB RAM in here. Anybody with this prob?

Otherwise, game is sick.

 

I had something similar. When exiting the game, I had an error, the a popup saying I have 50 s `till my system will restart.
I googled it, but to no avail.

 

Yeah, I run it at 1680x1050 with 2XMSAA.

 

Funny the game tried to run a 1680x1050 with 2xMSAA, it was like swlo-mo, play fine at 1280x960 but I suck a driving for some reason...

1680x1050 on a 8600m GT can´t be too smooth and not especially with 2xMSAA. What framerates do you have and at what settings are you running it?

 

anyone playin with dual 8700's? whats it like, what settings are you using, what FPS are you getting?

Conclusion:

 

It only happened 2 or 3 times in the last month, either after exiting GRID or HALF LIFE2.
If it`ll hapen again, I`ll try that, thanks a bunch

 

There you have it, your OCed 8700M GT totally destroys my GTX

 

It's amazing how you managed to drive like that. I'm still trying but the best so far is thrashing my car after half of the 1st lap.

 

Try with HDR off... it will look much better and will become much lighter...

Try Heel Toe Downshifting on the corners... it´s like braking and give a tiny tap on the gas key when the car is downshifting gears.

It will help on the car spin out problem, and the car will be better controllable on tight corners

 

Thxs Audigy, I managed better with handling but still my car was crashing. Looks like I'm an idiot in this game. I think I should just skip this one and wait for Burnout when it comes to PC
Anyway, that trick will help a lot in other race games thanks very mcuh.

 

Now that`s a new one. I don`t know how to do it in real life,I guess it would take a lot of practice, but in the game, it`s not bad.
But, what I usually do when getting up to a corner is tapping the brake key until needed,I don`t slam the brake since that will definitely get me spinning

Anyone tried GRID with an XPS M1330? I can run it barely at 640x480! This is ridiculous..

 

What is your details setting, did you set it too high? Don't expect to squeeze out some nice graphics with the 8400M

 

damn... still cant beat the drifting race..
i think the NFS series defineatly had a better drift. coz here your drift is compleatly based on luck!

 

The drifting race is a disaster in my opinion, I did the NFS Carbon drifting races soooo easily.
GRID is nice, but the demo needed more maps to get me hooked.
It`s a nice touch for a racing game, but I wouldn`t pay 50$ for it. It would need more game types.
Aaa..the sweet old NFS Porsche brings back memories...as does NFS HP2...

 

On first sight, yes... but then with some tweaks on the keyboard settings and the driver helps disabled, man, I like it...

The messed up part about the replay is that I don`t see you playing, I just see how it looks from around.
