I was mainly interested in the vRAM spec. Cool beenies.

I don't know if it's because Ubi messed up my expectations for future games but these recommended specs are a pleasant surprise.

I thought GTA I/II/III were banned in Germany. I or II were available once, I think, but were banned afterwards. Or am I confusing GTA with Wolfenstein. Sometimes it's hard to follow German censorship.
Anyway, I never saw I/II/III on sale in Germany, there isn't even GTA Complete Pack on Steam/GamersGate/etc. Vice City, San Andreas (both censored), and GTA V+addons (full gore, yay!) however are available in the good ol' Deutschland! -
Given how ridiculous AC Unity's recommendations were, I'm pleasantly surprised how low the reqs are for GTA V. Guess it's getting the Max Payne 3 treatment from Rockstar!

It's actually pretty ironic that s3x in the media is so taboo for us Americans while violence is condoned, while it's the other way around for the rest of the world. Yet, we have by far the most violent crime (incl. r@pe) per capita of any nation in the world.

They censor/ban everything with even a modicum of violence or a Swastika in it. Even Sleeping Dogs has a low-violence version in the German Steam store. The running joke is that just about every single violent, WWII, or Nazi game on Steam has a German "lite" version and a ROW (Rest of the World) version.

SP wasn't censored because it had swastikas or any other Nazi reference, because it had none of those. They (whoever is responsible for censorship in Germany) just thought it was too gory and graphical.
On the other hand, you have i.e. Tomb Raider (2013) and Far Cry 3, which also are quite gory yet they weren't censored.
When it comes to censorship in Germany it's usually hard to follow their logic - some games get cut while the others pass uncut. But luckily, recently the situation has gone a bit softer, at least on gore. Nazi references are still unwelcome in games movies (unless they would be classified as art in which case they would be free to use those things). However if someone thinks about moving to Germany better play it safe and have a few friends abroad who could buy a game for you, and a VPN software to activate the game (sometimes ROW games can't be activate or gifted in Germany i.e. new Wolfenstein game). Good thing GG also sold ROW keys for South Park The Stick Of Truth. I just used Ghost VPN to activate it and voila, a very happy camper I was.
Schnittberichte.com <- good website to get information on cut/uncut stuff in Germany.
Oh look, GTA V is uncut. Good  Japan on the other hand... -
^Well we know what the solution is now. Classify video games as art! If aestheticization of violence works for old paintings and Tarantino (love his movies BTW), why not make it work for games?

Being Australian I know how bad it is. They have a R classification law now but still ban content at whim. Saints Row 4 was cut too..worst part is the censored release was incompatible with the uncut version for all online play..brilliant for me trying to play my with my Ozzy buddies.
The GTA5 ban was a little different. Just a couple of useful-idiot retailers trying to score a few cheap politically correct points.killkenny1 likes this. -

they also claimed that video games is a direct cause of violence in people and yet there's no evidence to prove that because it can't be tested in a lab because it is practically unethical and even if you did it would have skewed the results anyway.
yet these feminazis keep making these unsubstaniated claims which annoys me.TomJGX likes this. -
It's the same throughout history. The higher-ups fear anything new or unknown that challenges the status quo. In the 1920's they blamed violence on movies, in the '50s it was comic books, in the '80s it was rock lyrics, and '90s until now it's been video games. It's unsubstantiated scaremongering and sensationalism that furthers their own personal political agendas. And since the 2000's now we have this horde of millenials and SJW's (read "feminists") jumping on the same bandwagon. I wish people would just leave my damn video games alone.

I think it's just easier for the older generations (50+) to blame games because they haven't played them and don't understand them. It's easier than blaming bad parenting/ lack of attention to children.

I am worrying so badly about the spec for the game, I am considering selling this laptop that I have only had since December for something with a bit more oomph. If I leave it too long, the value is going to go down a heck of a lot on my machine.
Edit: Just seen that the last W230SS on ebay went for £620, and that was with the 3K screen too..I paid £780 for mine

Fun fact about SR games - SR2/3 were cut in Germany pretty heavy, but SR4 was released uncut. Seriously, it's sometimes really hard to follw censors' logic. Maybe it's because they lack one, IDK...
L4D was also fun to play - every time a player with German copy of the game played on some server, no "special" zombies (like "heavy" cop etc.) would spawn in the game. Guess which players got banned often.

Here in the US the ESRB has an AO rating as well but thankfully it's not invoked very often. GTA San Andreas is probably the only well known game to have attained that rating, and most other games on that list are relatively obscure.

It was the world's fastest automobile. Now it's the world's most expensive second-hand automobile.
