Still a great game though and brought back a lot of fond memories. -

Guys, that 60GB Free space requirement is not too big? Is it coming on two Blu-Ray disc than?
-
-
Who said we all have Blu-ray drives or fast internet
-
Its probably multiple DVD's with that 60gb being after extraction and install.
-
8 DVD-DL i expect..

-
Now if only Skylake would finally launch so I can upgrade from my i7 920. Not to say it hasn't held up well. 5-6 years on a 2.66ghz CPU running at 4.0ghz...can't complain. I probably won't pre-order unless steam runs a sale for ~$50.

60Gb install???
-
What? COD is already 40GB and its a railshooter... 60GB for an openworld madness is not so much.
-
I think I might be able to squeeze out about 25 fps on my 680M but if it is lower than that with low settings I might consider buying a laptop with a 980M. Ive had my laptop for over 2 years now and it still looks new and runs cool. I don't want to get a new one but I need my GTA V fix and don't want a Desktop.moviemarketing likes this. -
Just pre-ordered PC digital download from Amazon and I wonder, do I need two times 65GB HDD space, one for download and another for install?

GTA V is Steamworks though? Wouldn't it be through Steam?

They sell on Steam, but I don't think it's a Steamworks title. Retail copy won't need Steam. -
I didn't know Rockstar Social Club was DRM. I thought it was just some stupid online account you needed to create in order to play R* games, kinda like how EA MP games require a Battlelog or some other EA account ish. R* games on Steam require RSC too.
-
AFAIK RSC is not DRM, at least not for GTA 4 PC. You could easily play the title without registering.
But it did have Games for Windows Live, which was a form of DRM, but easily bypassed. EDIT: It also had SecuROM of course. -

I can't believe how good that GPU is, I was getting over 120 fps on Far Cry 4 High settings (will try Ultra later). I was going to buy a laptop with the 980M but Ive been burned too many times with poor upgrade options, locked down Bios and now BGA and other nonsense.
I still got my P170HM though. This mini Itx is quieter than my Intel Dual Core 1.6 Ghz under load lol. -
I thought I saw Steam with pre-orders for GTA V, for release in March 2015. @LaptopNut, I wish I could play Far Cry 4 on high settings, but the blasted thing keeps crashing. I play it on moderate/to low just to get through at least 1 hour without crashing. Since its on Steam I've gotten every update, but no dice. When it first released all was fine then the damn updates broke something (ARRRRRRRRGH)
-
Edit: I tested Far Cry 4 with everything on Ultra and I get good performance, about 80-90+ fps.Last edited: Feb 21, 2015 -
Well it looks like Rockstar are trolling us again.
Delayed until April 14.

Delayed a third time? It better be a good port!
-
Vaporware. At this rate, Half-Life 3 will be announced before GTA V is released.
-
Someone speculated that the delay is not to polish the game but to give Consoles some exclusive time with the new Heists DLC or addition. I wonder if this is a genuine delay.

Shhh, they're optimizing for 486DX2!
-
Judging by the mudslinging about AC: Unity and Dying Light about performance it's like devs can't win. Delay to optimize, complaints. Release sub optimal performance, complaints..

Heh, I was going to change the thread title to reflect the actual release date but at this rate, I'll leave it as it is, just in case..

I bet it will be a subpar port. Even games ports to OS X (...) by external companies (like Feral) take less time. But GTA V is still a best seller on consoles so they won't release any pc version until it leaves the top 5 console sales. I'm sure it's been at least 6 months they didn't work on the port.
-
Also, other studios manage to output decent PC versions simultaneously with the release of the console versions. I think many find it annoying that Rockstar clearly have left the PC development on the backburner in favour of the console development, rather than treating them with equal priorities. -
-
Boo-hoo, it's not like Ubisoft, DICE, and Infinity Ward didn't ship AC Black Flag, BF4, and CoD Ghosts on 5 platforms at the same time. And surprisingly the Ubi game was the best at launch.
-
BF4, for all its bugs, was the better game out of it and Ghosts...that game (Ghosts) was a terrible pc port.
-
It's not like this game is that important to get mad about delays. Just sit tight.

There are more interesting games to play then GTA 5.. Play those while you wait for this to come out!
-
I'm not personally that bothered, probably waiting until a sale anyway (so far this year I only plan to get The Witcher 3, Batman Arkham Knight & Just Cause 3 on their respective launch days). I'm annoyed on behalf of my fellow PC brethren. I don't like to see developers treating us as an afterthought.
There's no doubt that a studio as large as Rockstar could have given us a simultaneous launch if they really put the effort in - the much smaller Avalanche Studios did with Just Cause 2, which was also a vast open world game!
I'm happy that they aren't rushing out a broken product, but at the same time annoyed that the PC version wasn't given equal priority as the 8th gen console versions in the first place.

After GTA IV for PC was pirated away soon after release... their policy is understandable. Also, PC version will always be miles ahead superior due to mods.
-
The problem I have with it hfm is just like Cakefish said.... Rockstar just simply doesn't give a crap about us PC guys. Red Dead Redemption <cough>
I'm sure the port is ready to go, in whatever state it actually is, they simply are stalling (likely due to console sales as others mentioned). There is no reason if they were serious about the PC this wouldn't have launched alongside PS4/XBone like every other game.
Having said that, I won't be buying at launch anyway due to my annoyance with Rockstar in this area, but I feel for those dying to play it. It is a great game, played the 360 version a bit years ago. -
-
They have never given PC an even playing field with consoles as they have always delayed the release of each title in the series (often unoptimised ports) by months. It is no wonder that their PC sales are significantly reduced as a result.
If the PC community see them putting less resources and effort into PC, then they will be less inclined to purchase the game at full price. It's not like it was due to poor sales in the first place they started putting less resources into PC, they have always treated the PC userbase as second class citizens from the very beginning. They have never given the PC platform the chance it deserves to generate them some impressive sales figures that it is capable of doing.
I'm not claiming that PC sales would be guaranteed to overtake consoles in the event of a simultaneous release (extremely unlikely), but such an event would certainly help to narrow the gulf in sales numbers.

This thread was created last year, but it looks like it's really coming "this fall". Y'know. 2015. =D.
-
By then, the game will be 2 years old. Nobody will buy it on PC as anybody who's wanted to play it has finished it on another platform long ago. Sales will be low, Cockstar will blame it on piracy and vows to care even less about PC in the future, and it becomes a convenient self-fulfilling prophecy.
-
I was just talking about that today. It's their own fault. I don't care what excuse they have, a game does not require two extra years to port decently to a PC when it's already been made. Especially if the port to other console platforms took under a year. Especially two of them.
-
And esp. if the two other consoles were using AMD x86 and GCN hardware...
