Is the asus g751 JT the cheapest one with 970m?
Here, in Spain, it's going to cost over 2000€, but in France only 1499€.

Absolutely not, if you buy a product in europe (and import to an european country), the vat is already included in the price, so you will not have to pay an additional tax.
That's why it could be interresting to buy your laptop in Germany or Uk ... (and the price for the shipment will be lower).

Not quite. Only if you physically drive out of the country with the laptop OR the e-retailer is small. Big e-retailers are required to VAT register in the country where the _buyer_ is resident and charge the VAT rate applicable in that country.

Most probably. You'll just pay UK VAT of 20% and that's the end. All depends on their turnover (and the date of entry into force of certain EU directives that mandate buyer residence VAT for all, not just the big players). If you want pcspecialist I think you might be waiting a while longer than mySN - when I spoke with them last, they were looking at "after Christmas". My local reseller otoh is claiming I will have one in my paws within 3 weeks.

Lol. Lots of kudos to you. Nvidias claim about the 980m being 75% of the 980 is true then. Mobile got a chance to catch up because the 980 is like within 10% faster than 780ti maybe. Looked like a difference of ~10 fps in benchmarks. They just made the 980 significantly more efficient.

I understand where you are coming from. There are two reasons I am buying a laptop. My mobo fried my desktop and i cannot take a desktop on a navy ship. I made my gtx 480 last around 5 years. It actually works still. I tested it on another desktop. I plan to make this laptop last ~6 years unless it breaks. My 480 could still run everything max with 40-60 fps. By the time 6 years are up technology will be 8x faster than it is now according to Moores law. And laptops will be significantly cheaper.
Is that gta iv? Lol only +23%... Piece of crap port. But hopefully after 6 years I will finally be able to play a constant 60fps with max settings

And we've got another one of those new thin 15" Clevos P65X - new model from Schenker called XMG P505 Pro:

    03_XMG_P505_right_front.jpg 04_XMG_P505_left_back.jpg 09_XMG_P505_center_back_closed.jpg 12_XMG_P505_Detail_02.jpg 13_XMG_P505_Detail_03.jpg

    XMG P505 PRO Gaming Notebook 39,6cm (15.6")

It should be available since October 17th, 2014. Price starts from 1,379 EUR (VAT included) for GTX 970M version.

There will be also version with GTX 980M, available since end of November 2014, costing extra 326 EUR. Interestingly this one is a bit thicker:

Both models unfortunately just with half-sized VRAM: 3 GB GTX 970M and 4 GB GTX 980M.

Display options are: 1080p matte IPS panel or for 260 EUR extra you can get 4K glossy IPS panel.

Its 17" sibling version Clevo P75X will come a bit later - November 2014 - and be called XMG P705 Pro:

Huh, sound and temps aren't as good as I was hoping. Shame. Guessing the 980m will do worse there, unless the chassis is to blame.

Stupid month long wait for Sager to send out their new 980m machines... I want to test this all myself NOW.

anyone know about this laptop? it looks pretty awesome. It looks goof for the guy going on a navy ship. Been on those and there isn't crap worth room. I even had a track to store my extra crap so i wasn't just limited to the 2 small storage areas. I basically had 100% room for personal stuff for my short stay on a ship years ago.

None the less, i wonder how good this brand is and how good the laptop is. It looks amazing from what i can tell. does any laptop compete on size and performance. The thin light design with the power in it is awesome.

    AORUS Gaming Laptop X7 Pro

i see the MSI ms60 or whatever is similar but the Aorus seems to have a better cooling design, which might make it better overall in performance depending on how hot those cards are. I always see laptops have under powered cooling :/

EDIT: nm they appear to have the same design the pictures are just so low res for MSI its hard to tell. Though i am no fan of MSI...i have had several friends have bad experiences.

    @HopelesslyFaithful

The Aorus x7 Pro will be loud, it actually has a larger than average width and depth (it is thin though), runs hot, and since they used the 3GB versions of the 970m, it will actually be worse than a single 980m in some of the newer demanding games.

I suspect he should really watch the noise levels on them, in a small mostly metal room it will probably seem far worse.

it should only be worse then a 980m if the game isn't optimized....trade offs :/

where has it been reported to run hot and loud? Was it ever re-pasted so it functions right? Also i can't even find it for sale.

Here you go, bottom view of naked XMG P505, in all its 3 fan glory ;)

    p505.jpg

It's apparently already being tested at NotebookCheck office, full review should appear sometimes next week. Comments from NotebookCheck:

    And some comments from Schenker:

Meanhile NotebookCheck folks are busy with testing new MSI GS60 / GS70, which seem to be pretty decent - ratings in mid eighties (old MSI GS60 3K was just 80%), full review coming tomorrow.

wow interesting fan design for the clevo. Though the rating system for notebookcheck.net is fairly garage lol so 80s means nothing :p A single dead category can make a laptop useless or severely gimped. :)

is that sarcasm towards something i said? Sorry i am not sure what you are referring to or if you are just making a statement.

To me some of the new laptops they have made huge strides on making cooling much better. I like the double outlet in the Aorus x7 Pro.

Thanks but I am going with the np9377. An inch or two is not gonna make a difference in reality. A thin or thick laptop will fit fine. Are the lockers only 3 inches high lol? :)

The GTX 970m 3GB SLI have higher scores than a single desktop GTX 980 so the potential of the Aorus is incredible. It's definitely the only notebook that thin that has that much raw power, but it is rather loud. It's will definitely perform better than a single GTX 980m if the game is optimized for SLI, and usually the bigger games are.

i would be more concerned with weight of carrying and holding it and trying to use it in a 4 foot long bed....or are they 5 feet? I remember being in a foetal position and i am only 5 10 ish. also the beds are only like 2-3 feet tall....so really damn small. If your on a ship for a whole tour i would recommend portability personally. Also get that belkin wall surge protector...outlets don't exist. I only had to deal with it for 5 days max so it wasn't an issue. I also had a track sitting in the bay of the ship to store extra stuff, which you may or may not have.

    enjoy

you get rack storage and 1 locker and thats it unless like i said you got an AAV or LAV chilling in the amphibious bay or whatever it is called.

true 3GB Ram is an issue but only a few badly optimized games should have an issue...NS2 *cough*

Is it louder then the M17x R4? I find that acceptable for me.

Indeed. That's exactly why I mentioned their previous rating of Kepler based 3K MSI GS60 Ghost Pro of 80%.

    MSI GS60 Ghost Pro 3K Edition (2PEWi716SR21) Notebook Review - NotebookCheck.net Reviews

Its rating go hit mostly by temperature, noise, battery and keyboard subscores. New Ghost Pro with Maxwell should be exactly the same chassis and display except of new GPU, so increase in total score should come from better temperature + noise subscores (gaming subscore was already high at 92% even before with GTX 870M).

But I just want to believe its heat & noise got fixed :) That would remove a showstopper from one otherwise very nice notebook (also cheaper than XMG 505, thinner, lighter and more available).

But we should see soon enough, full review is supposed to come out tomorrow, it should be thorough.

Really impressed with how that Clevo p651sg internals picture looks. Hope the temperatures turn out good on it, and if not be worth seeing if a repaste would help, that dual fan should be able to handle a 980m though I think.

And the single fan on the CPU should really be fine unless you try over-clocking it or something.

I think I can handle a slightly heavier laptop. Most grown men are capable of carrying 10lbs without extreme fatigue and muscle failure. Right now I pick garbage and everyone likes to fill them to astronomical weight loads and I just love the 95 gallon trash cans! And I am more concerned about my laptop frying then it being like 6 pounds lighter. Bigger numbers, better performance, lot less money, much more stable, thicker, heavier vs. lot more money , less performance, higher temps so less stability, lighter, thinner. I do not think the few pounds will make a difference.

EDIT: and those pics look like more room than i will need. Laptop, powerbrick, kindle with all my books and then whatever the navy requires that i have. But showing me that picture is misleading since all ships are different and i could have more or less storage. No idea.

Are there already any reviews of the MSI GS70 2QE?
    Is the Gigabyte P35v3 better?

okay so heres the review (gonna have to translate it) of the Aorus Pro with GTX 970m 3GB in SLI.

    http://chinese.vr-zone.com/130234/aorus-x7-pro-with-geforce-gtx-970m-sli-hand-on-review-10072014/

For a lot of games at max settings it even out performs the desktop GTX 980 with current drivers. Drivers will only get better so looks pretty good so far. Also should be cooler than previous Aorus models considering more internal heat pipes and new fan compared to Aorus X3v2

For me it's either this or Asus, just because I love the aluminum cases.

as far as i know every ship has the exact same rack and cabinet. I was on 3 different ships IIRC and they all were the same. The amphibious ships has the same set up for racks as the air craft carriers that my cousin and brother were on. You won't have any gear to store? No equipment? Hygiene stuff? Cloths? Don't over estimate your space.

GT72 with IPS have ETA in November, G750JY in late October and Dell still havent announced anything yet.

So I have to wait a couple more weeks. All I know is that IPS is a must after using this PLS display on my AW18. Cant go back now

Yes. A gazillion sites have confirmed that all three G751 models will get IPS (maybe they meant upgradable to it). The new IPS panel for 17" have just arrived and therefor it takes some time to get them out.

Pretty sure GT72 and G751 will use the same display. So I would wait a little to get the best display possible. The current TN displays are mediocre at best

Lol, dual fan and 3 heatpipes, that 980m or 970m should be safe :) On my Clevo w355ssq 4710mq, a repaste did the job and cpu went from 96C to 83C under load (30 min, P95, NT-H1), with shared heatsink 1 heatpipe :D I hope they make a 17" version of this one!

Edit: Found the 17" version

Where did you see those numbers (I assume you refer to XMG P505 Pro)?

In the HardwareLuxx review they seemed to be quite happy about GPU temperatures (only Haswell CPU was predictably hot, though that one was higher model than the default 4710HQ):

NT-H1 is comparable to Coolaboratory Liquid Ultra's temps, which are above and beyond any normal paste type, and NT-H1 also has serious pump-out effects, so it isn't a very viable solution.

By the way, what load are you talking? Playing BF4 for me gets my CPU hotter than if I did all the following at the same time:
Playing Black Ops 2 at max graphics (16xQ CSAA, 1080p, 120fps constant)
Rendering a video in Handbrake using "slow" compression and "high" encoding profile, 4.1 for the level
Watching two livestreams on twitch.tv on my second screen.

(though my PCB went over 100 degrees doing all that XD. I/O overload I bet)

Prime 95, Max heat, 30 min. (standard test all cores)

Not a viable solution? Used it on all my desktop's and has worked well, long term?

Thanks. It was a case of reading comprehension fail. :)

Delidded or not? Because according to this post, the NT-H1 pumps out easily on a delidded bare-die 3770K. So seems like this is not the paste to use for bare-die applications like in laptops or delidded desktop chips.

I am also waiting for more reviews of the MSI GS70.
I will probably order it next week.
Anyone can tell me another slim notebook under 1600€ with the 970M?

What screen does the current GT72 come with? And what screen is the 90% Gamut that XoticPC/Gentech use?

Dislike the GS/GT models from MSI being soldered CPU's.

He used to much. (I think. Test one time and see if it is sufficient)

w355ss 4710mq is Bare die. I did do a mod to the heatsink!.. Attaching a very fine ceramic sanding disc to my dremel and using it to i got a mirror finnish better than my mirror at the bathroom :D Bend'ered the arms 2-3mm up to get more pressure, Holding the NT-H1 under hot running water 10-20 seconds, and then applying 1/3 of the amount he used. Did not touch the Gpu copper, 860m Maxwell was cool already.

was the same temp for 3 weeks.. i have sold it now (got 50$ more than i paid :D "special heat modification")

On my desktop i have never used the paste more than 4-6 weeks because i was swapping i5's and i7's..

Can you recomend a more loong lasting paste? in this country there is no one selling IC Diamond.. to lazy to import..

Edit: Bended the gpu arms! did nothing to the cpu sink screws.
